Friendly staff, flavorful food and a chill clientele. Nice lunch after church. Great hours that fits lunch or a late evening meal after sunset in the park.

    Al Pastor Taco Combo ($14)

Four of us came to Algoberto's Taco Shop for a late lunch around 2:00PM after hiking around Joshua Tree. We arrived hungry and everything on their large menu of combo plates, specials, burritos, tacos, etc. sounded delicious. The cashier was super personable, greeted us and encouraged us to take our time while reviewing the menu. She said her favorite meat was the cabeza (cow cheek), so I knew I at least had to get that! After ordering, we helped ourselves to the salsa bar in the 10 minutes or so that our food was being prepared. We learned that all their salsas are homemade and there were plenty to choose from! The cashier gladly stepped away from the counter to explain the differences between the green and red salsas in terms of cooking method and spice level. We really appreciated her taking the time. I liked the light green tomatillo one the best... it had a fresh herby flavor with the perfect acidity to offset the savory meats. + CABEZA TACO ($2.50): I was speechless as I ate this... it was impeccable. The beef literally melted in my mouth and was SO tender. This didn't even need any salsa; the meat completely shined on its own! I could have easily eaten a whole box of these, which is saying a lot, since I normally prefer leaner cuts of meat. + AL PASTOR COMBO ($14): The pork was very heavily spiced and had a fair amount of heat to it, topped with cilantro and onion. I wish it came with some pineapple on top to add a little sweetness, since that is usually my favorite element of an al pastor taco. While I would have liked the actual flavor of the pork to be more apparent, the tacos were bursting with flavor, were about double the size of a street taco and came generously filled. The combo included a side of rice and beans which both tasted homemade. Everything was piping hot, so much so that I could barely hold my tacos, but no complaints there! I recommend this independent taco spot if you're around Joshua Tree. We'd just suggest sticking to the tacos as one person in my group was the only one to order enchiladas and sadly did not love them. 4.25 stars.

That burrito was very good and the staff was incredibly nice. Everything was fresh and they had a good salsa bar. Parking was no issue

They made me a custom veggie burrito !

My family stopped here on our way to Joshua Tree National Park and all enjoyed the food. We are in and enjoyed the service and convenient seating. Other families seemed to also enjoy themselves. We got chicken and vegetarian burritos and enjoyed them. Next time I would like to explore more of the menu as it all looked delicious. My two sons enjoyed the gumball pinball machine on the way out!

We were visiting a friend in 29 Palms and we wanted to have lunch and I googled Mexican food on yelp and of course I got hits on several in Yucca Valley. For me a Mexican restaurant has to have a salsa bar and this one at Algoberto's exceeded our expectations. I was told that all the salsa are made fresh daily. They had a great selection of meats and many choices to eat them. My husband and had chicken burrito and let me tell you, they are very generous with the meat and there are no rice and bean fillers like other Mexican restaurants. We have been eating Mexican food in San Diego, and Riverside county and I'm not lying when I tell you this food was so well seasoned that you don't even need any salsa on it to enjoy it. As we were leaving 29 Palms we decided to go back and try the Large Asada and chicken tacos for dinner. We enjoyed them so much that we ordered 2 more to go with toppings on the side. I wish they had a restaurant in more locations in Southern California. We highly recommend this restaurant for those who enjoy good Mexican food made with love. We will definitely be back next year. The staff was also nice and very helpful answering our questions, I don't remember the young lady during lunch but Deni took our order for dinner, he was very kind and generous to us. It might look like a small taco shop from the outside but the inside is large and very welcoming. Thank you so much for the amazing food!

Algobertos Taco Shop reminded us of the delicious Mexican food that we liked to eat when we lived in LA. The employees were friendly. The food was so good, we went two days in a row. The inside has plenty of seating and a salsa bar. We will definitely come back if we were in the area again.

Found this little hidden gem in Yucca Valley. Very authentic Mexican food, everything was freshly made. It is more of a fast food taco shop and not a high end sit down eatery. Ordered at the cashier with the nicest lady, food was ready in 15 minutes. I was surprised as to how big the portions for the great price. Minus one star for the restroom; could use a little work and renovation.

Carnitas tostada; home made tostada, beans, large portion of carnitas, shredded lettuce, and cheese. $6.20

The food here is bomb. I drive up here for work every week not everyday and Algobertos is one of my go to food stops. Usually I'll get the carnitas tostada because it's big fulfilling delicious and $6.20. Burritos are around $12 and the have lengua too. The service is meh but the food keeps me coming. They also have a little condiments bar w sauces, chiles w carrot, radishes, limes etc

Our last experience proved to be as solid as all our past visits. We always pick up meat to cook at our site or kitchen and always stop for lunch or breakfast before packing the cooler and heading east. Picked up 2 lbs of chorizo, some cheese and tortillas from the market and we got welcoming vibes and friendly customer service from the butcher and the girl working the register. The taco shop in back is super legit too. I got 6 tacos (2 asada, 2 adobada, and 2 carnitas), my wife got cheese enchiladas with red sauce, and my daughter got a bean, rice, cheese burrito. Everything was insanely good and properly cooked per usual. As others have mentioned, the tortillas are super fresh and fluffy. The enchilada sauce is some of the best red sauce you can get north of the border. All 3 types of tacos were properly marinaded and cooked to perfection. Bomb guacamole and hot sauce for the tacos. My daughter loved her burrito as well. We never drive past Kasa Market without stopping by and they NEVER disappoint!

We decided to sit down for lunch, and they had some pretty good deals going on for their specialty enchiladas: only $9.99 for two enchiladas with beans and rice. Hell yeah, dude! You even get to choose red or green sauce and shredded beef or chicken. It was absolutely delicious. My daughter and I shared an enchilada off of the children's menu. I've gotta say, our waitress was pretty freaking cool. She was super understanding of the fact that my child was frustrated because she was hungry, and she was very patient with us--which I appreciate, especially having anxiety in public. The cute little shop has plenty of seating, including kid-friendly options like high chairs and boosters. It's very clean and smells amazing! The food was out fast, hot, and delicious. The staff was friendly, courteous, and kind. Even the customers, who seemed to be regulars, were very understanding of the fact that my 10-month-old "chose violence" today. Thank you for hosting our lunch and being an amazing part of Yucca Valley! Guys, if you need a fast Mexican spot, this is definitely it. BUT it was definitely the biggest, most positive surprise when it came to expectations vs. actual quality! We landed in Palm Springs late in the evening and were starving on our way out to Joshua Tree. After a quick Yelp search for something open past 7-8pm, this spot popped up. We pulled into a super quiet parking lot and found this tiny little place. Looking at it from the outside, we honestly figured it would just be a quick, forgettable pitstop. Boy, were we wrong. For starters, the place was relatively full for a Tuesday evening! We ordered the duck confit nachos, the kimchi bulgogi sandwich, and the pony wings. Wow! Granted, our expectations were unfairly low walking in, but this turned out to be probably our second-best meal of the entire week--and we ate out every single day! It absolutely crushed it in terms of exceeding expectations. It also helped that we happened to be there on a Wednesday, so all the wines were half-priced! Unfortunately, since we weren't familiar with the area, we didn't know exactly how much further we had to drive to our accommodations, so we couldn't imbibe more in such a welcoming environment. (Missed opportunity, but safety first!) Oh, and definitely save room for dessert--their pie with ice cream of the day was delicious too! If you are passing through, do not sleep on this place. I would definitely come back the next time I'm in the area!

The young lady who served us was very sweet and understanding. We had a 2yrld with us and we requested extra pickles (cuz that's all that toddlers want).Eventually another staff member visited our table for some chit chat and had a laugh. We ordered 2 entrees and an app. Crispy chicken sandwich - the crispy coating slid off of the chicken thigh but still had some good flavor. The jalapeño ranch was expected to have somewhat of a kick but was more of a love tap. Imo, the crispy potato chips were a nice touch. Pretzel balls - excited for pretzels and cheese, the plate arrives at the table looking more like falafel than pretzels, they taseted burnt. The cheese they come with however, SPOT ON! My fiance had the Tiny Pony burger and stated the caramelized onions were top notch. Then she proceeded to scarf the burger down and say "it was alright"..... make it make sense. Overall, we will be visiting The Tiny Pony again in the future.
