I am beyond angry with the service I received at your location. I came in to exchange my Birkenstocks because the size I bought was too small. Every store in San Diego and online was sold out except Escondido . I called ahead, and the associate I spoke with specifically told me she would hold a pair for me. Based on her word, I wasted 30 minutes driving there. When I arrived, I was told they had been sold. Excuse me? What is the point of calling a store, confirming a hold, and driving all the way there, only to be told they're gone? That is completely unprofessional and feels like I was flat-out lied to. To make things worse, when I asked for a manager, I was told there wasn't one available. That's ridiculous. I was left standing there after wasting my gas, time, and energy, with nothing but a half-hearted "sorry" from someone who clearly didn't care. Claimed she was a manager and her name was Maggie. This is not just bad service it's unacceptable, careless, and disrespectful of customers' time. I expect an immediate response and a real solution. At the very least, I want the pair I was promised or a replacement arranged immediately. Don't tell me something is "on hold" and then sell it out from under me. Fix this. read more

The workers here are always so sweet and always have the shoes I want in stock! I'm leaving a review because a couple of weeks ago while I was waiting to get checked out, the lady in front of me was going crazyyy on the cashier. Normally this wouldn't bother me enough to leave a review but this was something else. This lady and her husband started cussing at the cashier and another worker (i think his name was Joey) stepped in to de-escalate the situation and the husband called him a f@g!!! I was SHOOK!! Walked in just a few mins ago, wanted to try on the Birkenstock clogs in 39, which happened to be on display. The worker came over and asked if I wanted to try one on, I told him yes and that the one I was holding was a 39. He told me I could not try it on because it was the display and they are almost out and that he would get me one from the back. I said ok and waited. He came back out with a box and said "I only have a sz 38, do you want to try it on?" I told him "no I want to try on a 39, which is my usual size in birks" he said "yeah sorry I don't have it". SO why wasn't I allowed to try on and BUY the 39 on display?? My trip to the mall tonight was to try it on and buy it if it fit right. But I guess Journeys DID NOT want my business. Came to return shoes and extremely disappointed with my experience. I was not greeted when I came in and it took the employees a good 10 minutes before i was helped. My shoes were clearly unworn and I didn't have the receipt at first so they told me they'd give me credit. Turns out I find my receipt and they go back on their word, saying they look worn even though the tags are still on the shoes. Absolutely absurd considering i spent almost $200 on these shoes. Not only did they turn down my return but the blonde lady with streaks in her hair was extremely rude, condescending, and passive aggressive. I purchased a pair of new balance shoes from journeys in the Escondido Mall. I wore them out to dinner the next night. Bye the end of the night my foot was in so much pain. I tried to return them. Journeys response was they were to worn. 3 days old worn once. It's not like they would resell them. I've worked in retail for 36 years. Journeys just gives them back to the vendor (new balance) for credit. That's what the retailers do. Nordstrom's Costco they all do that. That's what we did when I worked in retail. Had a really great experience at this location. The employee, Bella, who was working was really helpful and made sure I had the proper size. She also let me try a bunch of styles, and was very patient with my indecisiveness. When I changed my mind the following day, the employee on hand was also very helpful, she quickly &easily helped me make an exchange. Journey's has been with the Escondido Mall since I was a teenager in the early 90's. It's gone through a few changes in the store size since then, and where it's at right now, the size could not feel more cramped. Originally, I thought of the place in the 90's as a Hot Topic-styled, trendy shoe shop where I could try on the new Doc Marten's while listening to the latest music video reel via their own video channel. Very cool concept back in the day for a teenager. Right now, it feels a bit like a garage filled with shoes, socks, and shirts. The business of trying on shoes could not feel more awkward in a cramped environment. They offer several new styles and trends in footwear, but the variety is still lacking, especially in larger sizes (I wear a 13/14 men's shoe, so I'm used to stores not having these sizes, but still). The walls are littered with black & gray tattoo-styled shirts for wannabe gangsters and thuggish youths. The staff is friendly, though, and they are a help with finding similar styles. Overall, the biggest drawbacks are the size and selections available in the store. They have lost what charm they had since back in the day, and now they're just in need of a redesign (Those poles displaying new styles of shoes are horrendous) and I wish they would just stop chasing the typical styles of the time. Overall, I would say that they are mediocre, but I did purchase my last pair of Lugz from there, so I have to give them some credit. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE!!! My friend and I came here on Black Friday after a bad experience trying to get a pair of shoes at Sun Diego, and I'm SO glad we did. Cass helped us in getting the shoes and checking us out, and she was a gem. She was so friendly and helpful and was very sincere when we told her what had happened at the last store. I didnt come in planning to buy anything but she helped me through every pair i wanted to try on. She was extremely patient and kind, and very helpful. She also was very informative with the pair of shoes i wanted to try on, which were Sperry's. She shared her personal experience with the shoe brand and also explained their functionality. She went through every color and style of Sperry's with me without any fuss, you can tell she genuinely wanted to help me out. I took a while to choose my shoe since im very indecisive but Josie stuck with me to the very end. She is absolutely one of the best at what she does. Journeys in the north county mall is pretty legit! The store itself might be a little small but overall they somehow fit various different styles of shoes in one store. The staff is very helpful with finding the shoes you desire. I had a salesman by the name of mike. This short well groomed Hispanic gentlemen couldn't have been more of a help than I could ask for. At the end of the day I had purchased 4 pairs of shoes which I love and wear constantly. I had also gained a friendship with this nice young fellow. I recommend him to anybody who is trying to find a pair of shoes. He made the journeys experience well worth it. read more
