The pizza here was honestly really good--definitely one of the better ones I've had in a while. The crust had great flavor and the toppings were fresh and well-balanced. That said, there was a bit of a flop to the slices, which made it a little messy to eat, especially toward the middle. It wasn't a huge deal, but just something to note if you like a sturdier slice. Came here on a recommendation from a friend. I'm investigating more and more businesses on Broadway and have been hitting only amazing places so far. Joy Hill is not an exception. This place was so cozy, even the heated patio was great despite the crowd. We didn't feel like we were stuffed in the patio at all and the heater was wonderful in this winter weather. With the prices being what they were, we ordered 1 pizza and 1 app for two people. My friend ordered her own pizza only. We tried the jalapeno pepperoni pizza with honey and the Bison Meatballs with blue focaccia. I believe all pizzas can be made GF or Vegan Cheese can be used. And they're all thin crust. The smell of the savory pepperoni and sweet honey was wafting to our table when our pizza arrived. This combo is always a winner in our household. We absolutely loved it. The pizzas were cut with 6 pieces so it was so easy to split. And with the bison meatball appetizer pushed us to be fully satisfied by the end of the night. I loved the focaccia and the tomato sauce. The bison meatballs were also so tasty and lean. Our two dishes came out to about $45 after tax and tip. I think this is a perfect place for apps and a light dinner get together. We came for happy hour and sat on on the rooftop patio. It was raining out but we were fully covered and got to enjoy the Mountain View's and ambiance. We ordered: Burata with heirloom tomatoes caprese-, 3/5 rating, the size was unimpressive, nothing to write home about but appetizing. Best pizza in Denver, in my opinion. Great rooftop views. Decent location. Great service. If you want an artisan pizza that is consistently great, this is the spot. It's perfect for a date night, or a friends nights out. My only consistent complaint is that it can be super loud, so it's been a challenging spot to bring my parents, as they are older and need something a bit quieter, but it's a great meal. Had a GREAT meal here on their rooftop. Over beautiful mountain views, we had their garlic bread (super cheesy), a margarita, and the 70's pie. Everything was delicious, but the 70's pie was special. Our server was nice enough, but not anything to write home about. The hostess, however, was visibly unhappy that we had kids, which perturbed me. My sister-in-law had a stroller she was trying to maneuver in and out of their elevator and the hostess just looked at her. She seemed utterly annoyed that there were (adorable and well-behaved) toddlers. She tried to sit us in full sun, too, despite their being many tables and us having had a reservation. We'll definitely go back, but for the food--not for the hospitality. read more

Here's the reason for the lower rating: don't add a 3% BOK surcharge to the ticket....just raise your prices by 3-5% and call it good. Everything is just. so. perfect. I'll start with the fact that this hidden gem has one of my tiptop favorite outdoor patios in Denver. Can virtually see almost the entire Western slope, it's nuts. Pizza is definitely the hot item on the menu with some exciting options for both meat lovers and vegans. I've had the mushroom, bison chorizo, and veggie pizzas and all are equally incredible with the Mushroom Sally maybe pulling ahead to take the cake. Beet salad is also a must try as well as the bison meatballs, which I get every time because I can't leave without them. Prices are super fair for the quality and taste and service is always on point. The only real constructive criticism is to revamp the Margarita cocktail, not something I'd order again. Great pizza. But the literal worst bar chairs from the 70's that are so uncomfortable you can't wait to eat and run out of there.... Clearly the owner or manager does not sit in those chairs. We got a weird answer as to when it would be ready but they quoted us less than 80 minutes. All together it took even longer than that. Pizza itself was underwhelming. The cheese they use overpowers the toppings. It would be better if they used a simple mozzarella. I liked the creativity of the pizza selection they offer but I didn't get much flavor beyond the cheese, it was intense. Will not be visiting again and would not recommend. read more

Very comfortable easy going place. Lots of kids. They have 3 areas to eat. The entrance area has the bar, a large community table, and assorted tables with couches. There is an upper area with tables & booths opposite the kitchen. Then there is a partially covered outdoor patio facing west. I arrived st 5pm and they were 1/2 full. So I sat near the entrance and watched. I started with a Beet & Feta salad with a draft of Upslope Italian Pilsner. Very golden in color and smooth. The salad had golden beets and lots of Feta cheese crumbles. I then got the Chilis N Pep pizza with added River Bear bacon & Bison Italian sausage. The pie is thin crusted and 12 inches. I paired it with a draft of Platt Park Phaded Pale Ale. Darker color and stronger brew. All good. I plan to come back and try the patio. They have an extensive wine & cocktail drinks. read more

We arrived with a party of 10 and they were able to move chairs and tables to allow us to sit together. When it started to rain, they quickly made room for our party inside. Good food, but I'm coming back for the vibes. Kind of feels like you're in a cozy library in the best way. We started with the vegan Caesar which had roasted tomatoes so the difference between a cold salad and a hot tomato was a little strange but still good. It also barely had any dressing on it so flavors were minimal We got the Mushroom Sally and added vegan cheese, jalapeños, and cashew ricotta, and it was so good. The cashew ricotta addition is a must if you're vegan, super creamy and light. A little expensive for only a 12 inch pizza, and not entirely sure if it was worth the price, but it was definitely good. Service was good quality but very slow. Took a very long time to get seen initially, and even longer between ordering, asking for things, and getting the check. Wow! Just wow! Joy Hill has some of the best pizza I've ever had and rivals the top rated pizza places I've been to in NYC. The Chili's N Pep rendered me speechless the Buratta & Roasted Carrots appetizer was amazing. Their house made sourdough made the perfect crust and was crisp to perfection, their house pulled mozzarella paired wonderfully with the tomato sauce, and the pickled jalapenos were incredibly flavorful without being overly spicy. The environment was fun and hip with unique seating options that would be fun for larger groups and the views of the mountains off their sback balcony were astounding. The service was amazing.
