Good food, but I'm coming back for the vibes. Kind of feels like you're in a cozy library in the best way. We started with the vegan Caesar which had roasted tomatoes so the difference between a cold salad and a hot tomato was a little strange but still good. It also barely had any dressing on it so flavors were minimal We got the Mushroom Sally and added vegan cheese, jalapeños, and cashew ricotta, and it was so good. The cashew ricotta addition is a must if you're vegan, super creamy and light. A little expensive for only a 12 inch pizza, and not entirely sure if it was worth the price, but it was definitely good. Service was good quality but very slow. Took a very long time to get seen initially, and even longer between ordering, asking for things, and getting the check. Like I said initially, I'll be back for the cozy environment, and probably at a time where I'm not in a rush! read more

This is my favorite type of pizza and this is the only place in Denver I've been able to find it. My only gripe is that I wish they gave you a pizza spatula. Wow! Just wow! Joy Hill has some of the best pizza I've ever had and rivals the top rated pizza places I've been to in NYC. The Chili's N Pep rendered me speechless the Buratta & Roasted Carrots appetizer was amazing. Their house made sourdough made the perfect crust and was crisp to perfection, their house pulled mozzarella paired wonderfully with the tomato sauce, and the pickled jalapenos were incredibly flavorful without being overly spicy. The environment was fun and hip with unique seating options that would be fun for larger groups and the views of the mountains off their sback balcony were astounding. The service was amazing. I never had a drink run out before our server acknowledged me, his recommendations were spot on, our food came out quickly, and we were checked out in a timely, but not rushing you out, manner. Came during the tail end of happy hour and squeezed in an order of garlic bread and the ricotta appetizer. The garlic bread was delicious. A few different cheeses baked on crisped bread and served with marinara. Can't go wrong. The ricotta dish was refreshing. A place you could sit and enjoy a pizza and drink. The main dining room needs updating. The only area handicapped accessible was the lounge. They have an elevator to the bathrooms in the basement. So, today I decided to come over to Joy Hill's for Sour Dough Bagels and also ended up ordering a Margherita Wood Fired Pizza with a Garlic Cream Sauce and Arugula. OMG! The rooftop patio here was so lovely! The server was kind and efficient. The salad, cheesy bread, and shirley temple (with some kind of craft cherry syrup ) I had were all delightful. When I read that Joy Hill beat Babette's in the Denver Post pizza bracket, I had to check it out. (I LOVE Babette's, so that was a big deal.) I got takeout and took advantage of their pizza/salad/wine deal. The salads steal the show here. I know that sounds crazy, but they are really good. If I get a salad at a restaurant, I want it to have ingredients I don't normally have on hand in my own kitchen. I want more than just salad mix and dressing. Joy Hill had an arugula caesar salad with blistered cherry tomatoes. Delicious, and definitely not something I'd make a home. The beet and goat cheese salad, with chickpeas and feta, was interesting and delicious. It was hearty, and it felt like I was really getting my daily requirement of vegetables. Pizzas were fine. I think that these are pizzas that are best enjoyed in-house, right out of the oven rather than as takeout. That's not a knock on the pizza; that's just the problem with takeout (I blame the pandemic). When I'm comfortable dining in again, I look forward to giving them a try in their natural environment. The house white wine that came with our takeout special was really good, too. I'd order it again. So yeah...I went to a popular pizza place and ended up loving them for their salads. Maybe I'm a weirdo. Probably I'm a weirdo. But those salads were really, really good. And salad with wine is a perfectly respectable meal, right? Online ordering and curbside pickup were a breeze. We really like the food, drinks, and ambiance here, and find it to be very family-friendly in general. However, we were not able to get a high chair during our most recent visit. We have a squirmy 18-month old who is well-behaved, but needs to be safely strapped in to a high chair in order for us to enjoy our meal. The staff was super friendly but we were told that there are only TWO high chairs available for the whole restaurant, and we never got one. A very nice experience sitting out on the sunny patio. We were seated quickly and our servers were attentive without hovering. The salads and pizzas were unique, perfectly cooked and delicious. I had the Elote, making it my first experience with roasted corn on a pizza. Never knew what I was missing. The light bittersweet of lime didn't dominate the sauce but nicely balanced the flavors. I also had a boilermaker with Fenton, another first time experience. Went to the store and bought a bottle afterward. We also had a member of our party gluten free and with a dairy allergy. They accommodated that with no issues, and the options were multiple rather than here's the two things you can choose from. We have passed this place so many times and never realized it was there. We randomly stopped in one day and we were not disappointed. We loved the inside of the restaurant, it looked tiny from the outside but was actually pretty big. We especially loved the rooftop patio it was a perfect spot on a warm spring day. Service was great, there was no wait and they staff were all welcoming and friendly. Food came out super fast and our sever was very attentive. We ordered the elote pizza which we had never seen before but it sounded delicious. We were very pleased with our decision it was a great pizza especially the sourdough crust, I'm not a crust person but I ate every last piece of that pizza. We ordered the meatballs for our son and he loved those, there isn't a huge selection of toddler options especially ones with a dairy allergy but that's okay we made it work. I've been to Joy Hill more than a few times now. The deck out back is a nice place to be if it's a warm day. Just pack sunglasses if you'll be there at sunset. The happy hour has a nice assortment of food and drink discounts. I'm fairly certain we've tried all the food options at this point and more than a few multiple times. The pizza is a good size and has the nice flavor with a thin and crispy crust. I'd say any of the happy hour options are good though. The beet salad is a nice go-to on the main menu. Decent selection of beer, wine, and other drinks. The service is usually pretty good. They might visit your table less the more time you spend there eating and drinking but that's probably better than feeling like they're pushing to clear the table for a new group. Feels good to support a small business and we're glad they made it through the early COVID stay at home challenges. read more

Joy Hill! What a fun little spot I never even knew existed. My friend and I stopped in here after a long day of hiking for a pizza and a beer. The roof deck with a view of the mountains was a must as neither of us are comfortable dining inside at the moment. There was a decent local beer selection (I am officially putting in my request to see a hazy IPA on the menu), good happy hour prices, and friendly staff. I'm so glad we checked this place out. Ambience is great- very cozy with a fireplace and inviting large bar and sofas. Pizzas were phenomenal- we did a mushroom Sally and a margherita. The wood fired sourdough crust was amazing and we loved the red sauce on the marg. Also got an arugula Cesar which came with vegan dressing (this was just ok). To drink, they had some nice non alcoholic options (house made passion fruit soda was delicious!) as well as an ample beer and cocktail list.
