    Bistro Steak Benedict
    Frantsy R.

Was looking for lunch/brunch in area and came Up on this place. The menu looked good. We arrived by 1p and place was empty but 1 couple at bar. They were still serving brunch and had some sandwich options. I got the bistro steak Benedict and my guest got the Royale with cheese. When food came they gave my mom a Rueben. We had to tell them we didn't order this and waitress came back and said we got the wrong dish and burger would be out shortly. Well my guest ordered the burger cooked medium, when it came was very well done. The burger was tasty but overdone. It was kind of a bummer since at that time we were 1 or 2 tables to have an error and then it come out wrong. The Benedict was very good, the steak was medium and the béarnaise was tangy but good. May try them again when in area.

On the HH were 3 choices $7 x. I ordered all 3. The cauliflower and the broccoli dishes were standouts, so good. The flank steak was cooked to perfection and delish. My branzino was ok. The waitress was very personable. The large rectangular room was sparse but pleasant.

This is a new neighborhood restaurant. I chose it because it was close to the Botanic Gardens. I had a Reuben sandwich with coleslaw. Best Reuben I've had in a long, long time! Just enough meat and sauerkraut for taste buds, but not so much that it spilled out all over the plate. Very modern vibe, we were there early, but by 6:00 the place was half full. Would definitely go back.

This is my new favorite neighborhood spot! I went with my husband and two kids under three for the first time on Friday! We were so impressed! The staff was incredibly nice, the ambiance was great and the food was AMAZING! We thought it was so great we came back on Sunday and brought my parents who were visiting from out of state. We started with the crunchy broccoli and bread! Wow! The broccoli was incredible and had an amazing crunch. The bread was soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. The bread came with three different spreads (the garlic butter was heavenly). I got the chicken kale salad and it was great! I had order envy of my husband - he got the mushroom burger! The staff was understanding of our son's allergies and were able to accommodate him which always makes a restaurant stand out to me! For any parents out there...they have a nice changing table in the bathroom! I attached a photo because I think it is the details like a nice changing table that can make such a big difference when visiting a restaurant with young children! Thank you Briar Patch! We can't wait to come back!

Vibe is a little off. Blank white walls/very clean and sterile looking. Restaurant could definitely hang some art and cool pieces of decor to make it warmer and more welcoming. Service was good. My whiskey cocktail was great and all of our food was good. Their sister restaurant Briar Commons, is better in my opinion but this concept is newer so may still be getting into the groove of things.

Excited to have a new neighborhood spot to try out! 3.5 stars if I could do that. Came for dinner with my grandparents and everyone had a great time. I got the French onion soup which was delicious, and then my grandparents split a salad and a few small plates. The food was good, not amazing, but we got pretty simple things like roasted broccoli and fries. The service was lovely! The main thing keeping this from more stars is the fact that the ambiance was quite off, everything was white (walls, tables, backsplash of bar ect) and the lights were veryyy bright, making it a bit jarring coming in for dinner. Some softer lighting would be a great change in my opinion.

We def will be back. More pros than drawbacks. Service was fine/kinda slow ; server was very nice. Stools on the Bar high top side of the restaurant were pretty uncomfortable. I also wish they had purse hooks. I'd rather wait for a normal table next time than sit on those stools again. Simple but cute table decor. Cool wine glasses and yummy wine. Reuben sandwich and fries were really fantastic. Stole the show. Mushroom risotto with steak was decent... risotto was a touch underdone IMO and just barely warm. Medium rare steak was a good quality cut but a bit blue. The Handhelds may be the way to go next time. Again, will def be back to try more menu items here and I hope they make it.

We've been to Briarpatch several times now, and it really feels like Congress Park finally has a great neighborhood restaurant. On a recent Saturday night, we had fantastic margaritas made by our lovely bartender, Ryan--easily some of the best we've had in the area. We started with the tomato, carrot, and coconut soup, which was outstanding: comforting, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The veggie burger was clearly made from scratch and served with crispy fries, and it absolutely delivered. Overall, we left happy and already looking forward to our next visit. P.S. Chef Amanda delivered a cupcake on our way out which was incredible!

Food was amazing, staff was great, place was clean and updated! Happy hour deals were good, and drinks were yummy! We're already planning to go back for a date night! So glad this is in the neighborhood.

Ordered med well. Served half alive.

The restaurant was under staffed. So the service was slow. The server was very nice and helpful. The food was mid. The chef was kind enough to come out and tell the table next to us how she worked at a Michelin star restaurant. Unfortunately it didn't reflect in the food that night. I have seen at least 4 restaurants in this spot and all were good with consistent food and still closed. I suspect this place will follow the same fate.

My wife and kids gave Briar Patch a try for the first time on our "Family Friday Night Out". My wife and I took a "risk" by going to what we thought might be too upscale of an ambiance/too "snooty" for a toddler and baby. However, we were proven wrong on the attitude of the staff; they could not have been more accommodative to us/our kids (the kids menu was so thoughtful) and they took such pride in their restaurant opening. It's easy to write a 5 of 5 review when you see such character in a restaurant alongside such flavorful food at a reasonable price point.

    A solid crowd for Thursday.

Since my adult daughter and I were going to be there for a little celebration I made the reservation through the restaurant's website requesting to be seated at a 4-person table. Unfortunately upon arrival the restaurant not only did not even check to see if they had us on the reservation list they also didn't allow us to sit at a 4-person table. The restaurant wasn't busy at all on a Monday night so they simply treated us like a "walk-in" guest. Mmm...what's the purpose of the reservation link on their website if they don't value it?? They took us to one of the smaller two-person tables. After sitting there for 5 minutes or so perusing the menu, we kindly asked one of the workers if we could move to the bar seating that overlooks the busy Broadway. This was the game changer. The elevated seats and the tabletop made the ambience feel more like a special occasion. Thank goodness...this was the only bummer part of our dinner. The rest, fortunately, went quite well! Food: It looks like another Indian/Nepali restaurant at first but in my personal experience, this one ranks the best or top tier for their authenticity. The below is directly copied/pasted from the electronic recipe of ours: -PANI-PURI (Vegan/DF) $8.00 -Ice Tea $3.00 -Masala Chai $4.00 -COCONUT CURRY WHITE FISH. (DF/GF)$20.00 (Medium heat) -KHATTI MITTHI BHINDI (VEGAN/ GF) $15.00 (Medium heat) -WHOLE WHEAT BREAD $3.00 Pani-puri came out after our two main dishes although Pana-Puri is more of an appetizer (lol). Tho two main dishes were cooked in a medium heat and yet they were extremely doable even for someone like me who is not much of a "heat" person. My daughter is not a big fan of naan bread so as she is way more versed in the very cuisine (she had just come back from India spending a month to be trained to be a yoga instructor with a certification) she suggested we get the thin wheat bread. This bread went efficiently well with our two mains. Both iced teas were a great accompaniment to our whole meal. And again, how authentic everything tasted and how meticulously everything was cooked and prepared, it was something we couldn't ask for better quality. A bit of a disappointment with the whole reservation situation and yet the quality of the food broke even at the end. Service was good to decent although it wasn't exceptional but our basic needs were met.

The poached cod was also great, especially the sauce. The drinks were just as strong. The L5 margarita with salt foam was really good, and even the frosé, which I usually skip, worked perfectly here. The vibe is a big part of it. The downtown views are hard to beat and the patio is easily one of the better ones in the city. Inside also feels intentional and well designed. Service was excellent. The crazy part that's worth writing is I think us humans have forgotten that everyone is struggling with this & that & we are all just trying our best to get by. This used to be my favorite part about working in a restaurant: giving your guest a POSITIVE, UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE to escape life's struggles. Somewhere where you can go & spend your hard earned dollars & FEEL GOOD ABOUT IT but also to forget said struggles of your day or even your life! In general, it's been a laid back, go-to place to get a meal that will be much better than average for the price. I've been many times since before and after COVID, and it was one of my favorite repeatable spots in Denver. However, the crew totally dropped the ball with our visit today. My wife ordered a tonkatsu ramen and got a chicken tonkatsu set instead (chicken cutlet, not bowl of ramen). To not make it weird, we just let that one be for the greater good of the table because it was our anniversary, grandparents were visiting, and we are here often. Our hamachi kama (one of my favorite dishes in the entire city, normally something I'd highly recommend on this review) was never sent to the kitchen, leaving us waiting for over an hour with two young kids at the table who had finished 40 minutes before. I watched the staff's confusion from my seat, even after we had been told that it was on its way. It was never even started, and it was obvious. That stuff happens, but it's hard to hide what happened in an open kitchen where you can hear what people are saying. But then after they had the "oh crap" moment, it wasn't even expedited. It was gonna take so long that it wasn't worth getting, so two people had to leave our not-busy lunch without getting the main thing we brought them to Ototo for. We were asked to wait for the dish, waited 15 more minutes, and it was not even close to ready. And while I appreciated the apology, the manager initially just tried to "take the dish off the bill," a dish we never received. So he basically tried to do nothing because no restaurant would charge for something that never came out. After I pointed this out, they took off part of the check, but that attempt at nothing under the guise of a comp was crazy. I've easily spent thousands at Ototo over the years. I've sent tons of people to Kizaki, Temaki Den, and the others. This will probably be the last time I go to Ototo. If you read some of the recent bad reviews, something is not working here anymore. I hope the otherwise amazing service at the other Dens can find its way back to Ototo.
