I went for the burger, and it delivered, without a doubt. I had read about its magical taste on some best of lists, and I am SO glad I made time to hit up that part of town. Hannah was my bartender, and I got perfect service throughout my visit. Efficient, personable, and timely. The place had great energy, with background music that was fun without being too much. The restaurant has three TV's (one big screen in the corner), a great bar area, spacious dining room, and a fantastic wrap-around outdoor area. It is dog friendly, and they even had a big event coming up...just for dogs. They get their beers from Briar Common Brewery on the other side of town, and the Hoptomist IPA was one of the better beers I have had in quite a while. I chose the Royale with Cheese route, and couldn't have been happier with what came out of the kitchen. I spoke with the manager, Jeff, and you could sense that the quality of employees there was high across the board. He was very nice to the weird guy taking all kind of pics around the place. I didn't have room for most of them after the burger, but the fries were good too, and I had garlic aioli to dip them in. Tasty. I dropped this burger in at #10 for me all-time. Was looking for lunch/brunch in area and came Up on this place. The menu looked good. We arrived by 1p and place was empty but 1 couple at bar. They were still serving brunch and had some sandwich options. I got the bistro steak Benedict and my guest got the Royale with cheese. When food came they gave my mom a Rueben. We had to tell them we didn't order this and waitress came back and said we got the wrong dish and burger would be out shortly. Well my guest ordered the burger cooked medium, when it came was very well done. The burger was tasty but overdone. It was kind of a bummer since at that time we were 1 or 2 tables to have an error and then it come out wrong. The Benedict was very good, the steak was medium and the béarnaise was tangy but good. This is a new neighborhood restaurant. I chose it because it was close to the Botanic Gardens. I had a Reuben sandwich with coleslaw. Best Reuben I've had in a long, long time! Just enough meat and sauerkraut for taste buds, but not so much that it spilled out all over the plate. Very modern vibe, we were there early, but by 6:00 the place was half full. This is my new favorite neighborhood spot! I went with my husband and two kids under three for the first time on Friday! We were so impressed! The staff was incredibly nice, the ambiance was great and the food was AMAZING! We thought it was so great we came back on Sunday and brought my parents who were visiting from out of state. We started with the crunchy broccoli and bread! Wow! The broccoli was incredible and had an amazing crunch. The bread was soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. The bread came with three different spreads (the garlic butter was heavenly). I got the chicken kale salad and it was great! I had order envy of my husband - he got the mushroom burger! The staff was understanding of our son's allergies and were able to accommodate him which always makes a restaurant stand out to me! For any parents out there...they have a nice changing table in the bathroom! Vibe is a little off. Blank white walls/very clean and sterile looking. Restaurant could definitely hang some art and cool pieces of decor to make it warmer and more welcoming. Service was good. My whiskey cocktail was great and all of our food was good. Their sister restaurant Briar Commons, is better in my opinion but this concept is newer so may still be getting into the groove of things. read more

Chef deserves better. Food was really good, atmosphere was really not. Start to finish, service was bad and vibes were off. And wayyyy too loud for a place that small, moderately busy. Excited to have a new neighborhood spot to try out! 3.5 stars if I could do that. Came for dinner with my grandparents and everyone had a great time. I got the French onion soup which was delicious, and then my grandparents split a salad and a few small plates. The food was good, not amazing, but we got pretty simple things like roasted broccoli and fries. The service was lovely! The main thing keeping this from more stars is the fact that the ambiance was quite off, everything was white (walls, tables, backsplash of bar ect) and the lights were veryyy bright, making it a bit jarring coming in for dinner. We def will be back. More pros than drawbacks. Service was fine/kinda slow ; server was very nice. Stools on the Bar high top side of the restaurant were pretty uncomfortable. I also wish they had purse hooks. I'd rather wait for a normal table next time than sit on those stools again. Simple but cute table decor. Cool wine glasses and yummy wine. Reuben sandwich and fries were really fantastic. Stole the show. Mushroom risotto with steak was decent... risotto was a touch underdone IMO and just barely warm. Medium rare steak was a good quality cut but a bit blue. The Handhelds may be the way to go next time. Again, will def be back to try more menu items here and I hope they make it. read more

Solid new spot - I stopped in a week or so ago, later in the evening on a Wednesday. The patio was pretty full, and perhaps a half dozen tables were seated inside. The space is bright and white and feels bigger than it did when it was TAG Burger. Service was prompt and efficient, which is to be expected when you arrive a bit later at a restaurant at 40% capacity. Food-wise, I went a rather unconventional route, ordering 3 apps instead of a main, as I had more interest in those offerings. Of the three, the broccoli and the burrata were the better options. My daughter was with me and ordered off the kids menu - not comment to that food, but a kids menu does exist which i know is important to some families. All-in-all a good addition to the area and nice bit over veriety given jsut home many burger spots there are nearby. read more

We recently ate at Briar Patch for the first time and loved everything! I decided to use them to cater my husband's surprise party. They were amazing! The guests loved it all: wings, burgers, Reuben's and chicken sandwiches, fruit, salad, the best Brussel sprouts, fries...the works. The GM Jeff and his team are so kind and helpful. The restaurant was under staffed. So the service was slow. The server was very nice and helpful. The food was mid. The chef was kind enough to come out and tell the table next to us how she worked at a Michelin star restaurant. Unfortunately it didn't reflect in the food that night. I have seen at least 4 restaurants in this spot and all were good with consistent food and still closed. I suspect this place will follow the same fate. read more

We've been to Briarpatch several times now, and it really feels like Congress Park finally has a great neighborhood restaurant. On a recent Saturday night, we had fantastic margaritas made by our lovely bartender, Ryan--easily some of the best we've had in the area. We started with the tomato, carrot, and coconut soup, which was outstanding: comforting, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The veggie burger was clearly made from scratch and served with crispy fries, and it absolutely delivered. Overall, we left happy and already looking forward to our next visit. P.S. We came in tonight for the 1st time to this restaurant. It will be the last. For preface, we have eaten at this location (other restaurants that were here before. Good, burger joints at that, that closed. I don't expect this place to be here long. The drinks are slowwwwwwww. Not mixed drinks, an out of the bottle and pour drink. The decor is minimal and bare, there's nothing up on the walls, and feels like it hasn't been decorated all the way, as a result it's super loud because there's nothing to absorb sound. I couldn't hear my kid across the table. Our food came out after a lengthy wait, we did order after the kids, so we obviously didn't expect it to be ready at the same time, but it was quite lengthy on its own time table. My husband ordered a burger, and he doesn't like squishy bleedy burger meat. I eat steak rare and I don't eat burgers rare, it was too much for me. At first he did t want to say anything, and eat it because our food had taken soooo long. He did end up saying something, and of course the waitstaff felt terrible even though it wasn't their fault, and took the raw burger away. Next thing you know, some "chef" Amanda came out and boasted about herself to the table next to us. This chef boasted about prior places she's worked and yadda yadda, meanwhile the medium well burger my husband ordered was bleeding all over the place after he bit into it. Yeah? Fancy shmancy chef can't even cook a burger. You know who can cook a hamburger patty? My 11 year old. For real. Evidently the owner was there tonight. So, IDK. We will not be back. Service was slow and food was average. The vibe feels off, and for being so slow in the restaurant, no one checked on us during the meal. It took a while to be greeted at the table when we arrived, and when our server did come, she offered to send us complimentary prosecco which never arrived. The tater tots that come with the burger are two fried mashed potato squares and felt pretty small for a side. The wedge salad had very little dressing and was challenging to eat. My wife and kids gave Briar Patch a try for the first time on our "Family Friday Night Out". My wife and I took a "risk" by going to what we thought might be too upscale of an ambiance/too "snooty" for a toddler and baby. However, we were proven wrong on the attitude of the staff; they could not have been more accommodative to us/our kids (the kids menu was so thoughtful) and they took such pride in their restaurant opening. It's easy to write a 5 of 5 review when you see such character in a restaurant alongside such flavorful food at a reasonable price point. read more

Just found this place. Fantastic and reasonably priced food. Chef's designer burgers are to die for plus real pommes frittes style fries. Andrew was our waiter and was attentive and kind in all of our interactions. He made sure to ask questions and be aware of our needs throughout our visit. My husband had avocado toast, but he chose scrambled eggs instead of the over easy egg it comes with. It was incredibly tasty. I had the Eggs Benedict. The hollandaise is flavorful, but not overpowering and the ham is sliced thinly and makes it a pleasant experience to eat. We also had a appetizer small plate of the crispy broccoli. It was absolutely incredible. On both of our egg plates we had Potatoes which were the best part of the meal! They take shredded potatoes and form them into squares and season them with rosemary and they are amazing. We look forward to trying some other items on their menu in the future. My friend and I finally went to dinner at this friendly, new (July 2025) neighborhood spot. The service was excellent and the food delicious! She got the hefty, moist pork, with tasty grits and greens. My chicken sandwich was crispy, piled with perfectly cooked bacon, on a hefty roll. I highly recommend the slaw, with a light creamy/vinegary sauce. Can't wait to go back and will try to Brussels and the beet salad. It seems to have abundant outdoor seating woo hoo! read more

My family and I have been a few times. The food is solid. Wings, Burgers, Chix Sandwich. The only thing is the service is slow. Each time the place has been 2/3 full but the food has taken 25+ mins to come out. For what they are serving that is too long for a neighborhood family spot. Visited the restaurant the day after Thanksgiving. We were interested in the brunch. One of us had the salmon eggs Benedict, another the Ham egg Benedict and the third the steak and eggs. All of our plates were delicious, beautiful presentation and the service was spot on. Rest rooms were very clean and the waiter very helpful.
