The sushi was genuinely good and I'm from somewhere previously with a plethora of great sushi places. The service was also amazing and very attentive. The place was clean and relaxing. I will be back!

Joy sushi is a mixed bag, and has been inconsistent in its quality over my few visits. The first visit was great! Very prompt service, and very good and fresh flavors. Prices are on the low side, especially in light of the presentation and quality of the dishes. Second visit wasn't so good. Service was much slower, and things didn't seem to be as fresh or tasty. I'd not recommend the custard dessert, it was served to me partially frozen, was pretty much flavorless, and seemed to have had far too much gelatin added when it was made. The interior is pretty dirty, too. Walls look like they've never been cleaned, and some booths' walls are far worse than others. This location is in a, "old", shall we say? strip mall, and the area can be a bit seedy. There's plenty of parking available, though, and ingress and egress is easy.

Food was good! Wouldn't say a dirty vibe, but more attention to cleaning the walls and bathroom for detail.

We've only been here once so far but will for sure be back because the sushi was delicious! My husband and I ordered 4 rolls and went home stuffed. The restaurant itself isn't the biggest but we came in a bit early for dinner (around 5pm) and had no issues being seated right away. Despite the consistent stream of to-go pick ups, they were quick to bring everything out.

Delicious food. Generous potions. Nice and friendly staff. Good overall experience. Will be coming back.

Yellowtail that tasted "off," not buttery and silky.

I was looking forward to this meal. It's in a weird collection of strip mall stores. But some of the best sushi I've had has been in a strip mall, so based on the reviews I was expecting this place to be good. I cannot understand the high scores. The quality of the fish is very low. The tuna, salmon, yellowtail were spongy and water-soaked, certainly frozen. The yellowtail was off, and it's my very favorite--I had to spit it into a napkin. TMI, I know. The picture is of the fish we couldn't eat because it was waterlogged and tasteless. I'm going to feed it to the crows. They'll think it's super. If you love sushi, and are used to quality fish, this is not the place for you. Also, it's not cheap, however the slices of fish are ginormous (too big). Maybe that's why people like it. It's definitely quantity over quality. One outstanding thing--the couple operating the restaurant are super nice--I wish I was able to write a good review. I'm writing this one because the good reviews are very misleading.

We were looking for a new experience and stumbled upon Joy Sushi while cruising down 4th Plain. We had a wonderful experience. A family operation, their mantra is upping the customer experience and bringing joy to each visitor who comes through the door. Jessica and her family have done an excellent job on that front, and the food complements their dedication perfectly. Fresh, tasty, and a great menu variety that isn't too bloated with an overpowering list of items. Sushi dishes were some of the best in Vancouver. They even have a dessert sushi roll called sweet angel. A must try! Lanzhou soup was some of the best we ever had. Broth was clear and tasty and meat was cooked perfectly. Lots of love and dedication going into their dishes and cannot recommend them enough...and they have great xia long bao! Will be going in again this week! Thank you, Joy Sushi! You are very much appreciated here in Vancouver. Update, April 2022. New owners but same great food and service with a worked over menu. Some additional goodies and sushi boats! The Szechuan chicken appetizer is to die for. Make sure you get rice with it.

Decided to go to this hole in the wall restaurant. Literally the best sushi I've ever had, Salmon looks like wagyu. Highly recommend.

Food is prepared with care. Sushi is fresh and ramen/udon is a nice addition. It's been our go to spot for these dishes because it appears to be the most authentic and tastes so darn good. We usually get the Bruce Lee roll because it's the right amount of spicy and still able to taste the flavor of the ahi and imitation crab. Serving staff are always pleasant and attentive. And it's a nice small location where you can enjoy a date night or gals brunch/dinner. It is $$ but you pay for quality.

Don't let the shopping center fool you - Best sushi I've had in SO LONG. Super nice staff - one of our rolls came out and they flipped it on fire. Pretty cool. Fresh ingredients, good flavor - and lots of options. Will be back again soon!

I love my sushi, especially when they come in a boat! Super fast and friendly service. We got all our rolls within 15 mins and they're very fresh and delicious. They've got some creative roll creation like ones with beetroot and ginger, as well as more classic ones. Generous portion of fresh fish in all the rolls that we got. Pretty fatty salmon was used. Totally worth giving it a try!

Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! A little quaint place, with a beautiful, helpful & thoughtful server. We tried so many of their raw fishes & other tasty seafoods. It was all prepared w such care & delight. Thank you. Cant wait to eat here again.

The staff was friendly, and the setting was chill! The free tea is always a plus :) If you love mala/szechuan flavours, try it out!

The pork belly is high quality and they don't skimp on the veggies. Their tangsuyuk is another standout, perfectly crispy even when coated in sauce, which is no easy feat (if you know, you know). The wasabi shrimp has a unique, addictive flavor with just the right amount of crunch. And the kimchi burger? Thoughtfully crafted with a soft brioche bun, a juicy, flavorful patty, and kimchi that really pops. Beyond the food, the hospitality makes the experience even better. Sam and the staff are incredibly warm and attentive. They are happy to offer recommendations, check in throughout your meal, and always greet you with a smile. I ordered the General Tso's Chicken, with steamed rice and an Eggroll. Also Hot and Sour soup. Soup was delivered quickly... and it was good. Nice egg flowers, black fungus and tofu... flavor was adequate. Not spicy though. They soon brought out my main course, and there was a HUGE portion of General Tso's Chicken. Very crispy crust, and tender chicken. Sauce was ok.. again, not spicy. Eggroll was really large, and tasty. Rice was nicely cooked and didn't taste like it had set in a steamer for hours. I'm allergic to shrimp, so the server gave us extra BBQ pork slices in our won ton soup. The soup was delicious. We appreciate that the soup base wasn't salty. The won tons were cooked perfectly. The soup had vegetables as well. The Mongolian beef was tasty, and went well with the brown rice we ordered. The garden vegetables were slightly overcooked, but plentiful. I loved the light sauce because it didn't overpower the crisp-tender vegetables. We also ordered hot green tea. We appreciated that they offer free refills. The quantity served was greater than expected. Enough for a second dinner at home tomorrow. This will be our go-to place locally for Chinese food. Service was excellent. Plus, they gave my husband a military discount (he's a U.S. Air Force veteran). The restaurant was busy. Not too loud. My husband and I were still able to carry on a conversation. I highly recommend Taste of China for those looking for reasonable prices, a nice selection of Chinese dishes, wonderful service, and good food. It's across the street from Costco, on the same side of the road as Home Depot. We will definitely be back.

The flavors of the food across the board are so much stronger and complex than literally all other Chinese food restaurants I've ever patronized. Their operating model, though, is confusing. They have a lot of "ready now" entrees pre-made for immediate service (think "Panda Express"), and several others that are made-to-order. The "made to order" seems to be the better choice, as what's in the "ready to go" section may well have been sitting around long enough to get soggy. I know this from firsthand experience when some of my General Tso's chicken was the last of what was premade, and the rest was fresh. Not surprisingly, the fresh portion was hot and crispy (and DELICIOUS), and the portion from the premade batch was soggy and lukewarm. There are two chairs in the interior for patrons, so be prepared to stand while your order is filled.
