Working five nights a week has made brunch my new Happy Hour. Let me tell you... the food, music, and service was on point, that we decided to write a review immediately. I have come once every few years and this place still hits. My niece ordered the 3 egg scramble with: smashed avocado, queso fresco, and spinach with home fried potatoes. My sister ordered the Belgian Liege Waffle with Berries and Banana. I ordered the Chimichurri Steak Quesadilla. We shared foods and hit the ultimate combo of savory and sweet. We saved the Waffle for dessert. The most surprising thing was how amazing and crisp the waffle was after we ate the savory parts of our shared meals. This is the second location in The Valley. The other location is in Granada Hills. Apparently Doja Cat, Vanilla Ice, Stevie Wonders, and other celebs are regulars that they have a menu called "Eat like the Stars," based on the celebrities usual order. read more

VEGAN OPTIONS Y'ALL!!!! OK, I must confess I yelped after I ate and was in the parking lot. The ambience was amazing. Our waitress was amazing. She did tell us what they were out of and offered suggestion. They have about 8 TV and a bar area. The kitchen is small is right open. You can see the girl doing her thing Booth and table. Had nice music playing. The best of all they have Vegan breakfast options. I have one small complaint. The tater tots were deep fry, which is good, but I think I got them when they were cold and I could taste some kind of sweetness, but besides that everything else was great. Called in Advance to check what time they were closing, as they might close early for the Holiday. They advised 1pm. I arrived at the location at 12:00pm and they turned me away saying that they are not closing at 1pm, even though there was a sign on the door advising of the 1pm time as well. Brenda, the front desk receptionist said she was advised that they needed to close earlier. This is very disappointing as I've frequently patrons this place and brought my best friend from out of town to try them out. Poor customer service. read more

Total Reverse Catfish - in the best way. As a lifelong Valley girl, I'm going to be completely honest: I wasn't expecting much from this shopping strip location. I thought it'd be a tiny hole-in-the-wall, but **Main Kitchen** completely blew me away. It's actually a huge, vibrant corner space (looks like 3 to 6 combined spots) covered in colorful paintings. The atmosphere is immaculate. Plus, as an elder Millennial girly, the playlist was hitting *so* right--it was 9:00 AM and we were jamming to music straight off my own Spotify Wrapped. The food is a total "reverse catfish" because it is way more visually stunning and delicious than the website photos let on. It just seemed like a lot of the things were housemade, and you can really taste the quality in everything: * **Chicken & Waffles:** They didn't have any bone-in chicken today, so they actually served me the boneless chicken breast (which I think originally goes with the chicken and pancakes). But honestly? If you can substitute it for the boneless breast, DO IT. Way better, no messing around with bones, and hello, protein goals! It's a perfectly flattened, crispy chicken breast served over a waffle sprinkled with bacon bits. They added a little drizzle of maple syrup and what seemed to have a little bit of a thing like peach bits--I'm not 100% sure because I didn't give it enough time to sit on the plate to find out, I was just eating it all! It was so delicious. * **Tiramisu French Toast:** My friend and I literally had to pause and give it a moment of silence. We were just in absolute awe. * **Chilaquiles:** My friend is a total chilaquiles connoisseur, and she declared theirs the *best she has ever had*. ​To top it all off, the service was fantastic. Our server, Donovan, was so attentive and made sure we had absolutely everything we needed--we just really appreciated his great service! I believe this is a woman-owned small business, and the owner herself was actually the chef cooking for the morning! The deli sandwiches, pesto chicken panini, and vegetarian wraps were all incredibly fresh and generously filled with high quality meats, cheeses, and perfectly baked bread. Each sandwich had its own unique dressing, which elevated the flavors to another level: bold, well balanced and anythng but ordinary. I mean, I've been to so many restaurants and rarely do I find one that has such a welcoming and organized atmosphere delicious food and amazing service. Because my job requires me to always travel. I'm always looking for a spot nearby where I can get a quick bite or enjoy my morning with a Hearty breakfast. I pay attention to the food the way that they season it the way that it's served the presentation and it's not because I want to. It's just overtime. I've developed an eye for these kind of things. By tasting the eggs in the omelette, I can tell that there's effort put into the ingredients and seasoning the slight pleasant creaminess of the eggs tell the whole story and the selection that goes into the scramble is so delicious! And fitting I recommend the chicken apple sausage in the omelette. It's not even a question of whether or not I'll be enjoying my morning here again it's a firm most definitely! I've been to Main Kitchen many times, and it never ceases to impress! I love trying new things on the menu, and I've honestly never been disappointed with anything I've ordered. Today, I decided to try the Cuban, and it was absolutely delicious! I brought a friend with me this time, and it was great to share one of my favorite spots with her. It's exciting to see this place getting busier and busier, all thanks to word-of-mouth. It's always a good sign when more people discover a gem like Main Kitchen! I don't get why this place isn't more crowded on a Saturday for lunch time! I really enjoyed the food here and I enjoy the open venue vibe. The wait staff was very polite and very nice, and it's definitely a go-to spot for me for breakfast when I'm visiting friends in this area. The item I tried was the pancakes with ricotta and blueberries. I think the food is too much for one person but if you're really hungry I think it can be done. I think that the pancakes could be a little bit fluffier and little bit easier to cut with a fork but the flavor is all there! My friend ordered the steak, with eggs and roasted potatoes. I just found a little gem in Canoga Park called Main Kitchen--and I can't believe it's so close! If you're in the West Valley and want a cozy, impressive breakfast or lunch spot that will have you coming back again and again, you've got to try it. They have two locations, but the one on De Soto is perfect for large groups. It's a small business, and I love supporting them--especially since it's Black-owned, which is a big accomplishment in the Valley. The pancakes are delicious. They have side mini pancakes that are about the size of your palm and the entree pancakes are HUGE and delicious. The catfish and grits sent me back home to Ohio and Texas. Yes the grits are smooth. The servers are nice and attentive. Of course it's a small business and there has never been a crowd when I come - which is a surprise based on how good it is. If you need it (hint hint), they have wine, mimosas, bottomless mimosas, beer etc. I have not been here for lunch but I will try it soon. So glad I found MAIN KITCHEN nearby. read more

Walked in for mid-morning breakfast. There was R&B playing at a decent sound. Friendly service. Rapid table service. We order the steak and eggs. I cannot emphasize on how good this combination is. From the steaks down to the potatoes. 10/10. The potatoes were not your stale over cooked potatoes at other breakfast spots. Super fresh and perfectly season. The mini pancakes were drizzled with powdered sugar. Definitely a hit. If you're not a sweet tooth the powder sugar is just enough. I poured syrup over one of the minis and I think it was delicious. While the exterior might be unassuming, stepping inside is a delight. The warm hospitality started immediately; every staff member, including our wonderful server, Savannah, greeted us with a genuine smile. The menu offers a fantastic variety, but the food itself was the true highlight. We shared three items, and everything was executed flawlessly: * Belgian Waffles: Simply perfect. The food here is delicious! I especially like the El Dorado burrito. Their green sauce is just heavenly. They are always nice and bring my to go order to the car since I have trouble with mobility. My family got here by 1pm trying to get something to eat. It wasn't busy, there were 2 tables occupied when we walked in. We were seated and took a minute to give us the menu. About 10mins later our waitress came to greet us. As we were about to order. She said we're out of Steak, Burgers, Ham, and Catfish. Basically their signature breakfast on the menu. We decided to walk out because we wanted some breakfast food. By the time we walked out it was 1:14pm. I wonder why would the waitress take almost 15mins just to tell us the food is sold out! Came here on a Sunday morning around 9:30 after finding out that the wait at Nat's West Cafe would be "at least half an hour." The good: Got seated right away in a booth. No wait. The bad: Took at least 15 minutes for waitress to take our order - no one came to offer water or coffee, either. The place was not packed at all. Waitress did not seem that experienced. My party of four asked about certain dishes and she said, "that sounds good" -- but did she know if they tasted good? Not clear. Then after the food was delivered 20 minutes later -- and she promised to "refill the coffees" -- she never came back. At least 45 minutes (!) went by before she even came near our table where I had to wave to get her attention for coffee refills and our check. What kind of waiter doesn't even check on her table? We got our coffee but the check remained elusive. 20 more minutes went by. No check. Finally our party got up and stood by the entrance cash register. Another waiter came up and asked what we wanted! Uhhh...maybe to pay and depart! He looked confused and asked where we had been sitting. Our waitress never showed up -- though she seemed quite interested in helping a couple other tables - regulars, I'm guessing. Finally the bill was tabulated, we paid and left. Everything on the kids menu cost extra instead of being a meal. They also don't have pancakes or waffles. The tiramisu french toast was yummy and not as sweet as we thought it was going to be. The fried chicken biscuits were yummy too but something about it made me go straight to the bathroom. The table's favorite was the breakfast burger which I'll probably order if we come here again. This was definitely a nice surprise because I wasn't expecting the food to be so good! I ate ribeye and eggs for brunch and wasn't expecting much from the steak because there were a couple places I had recently gone to for steak and eggs and the steak was always hard to chew but the one here...excellent! It was nicely marbled, tender, salted and peppered just the way I like it, I was truly so happy to be eating there! Chef knew what he was doing! came here on a Sunday around noon and was really surprised it wasn't packed for a brunch spot at that time. there was no wait to get seated and I was able to get the last available table w booths. although there were a few other tables already seated, the service was incredibly slow. our waitress was really nice, but it took a while to get waters, order, and eventually get our food (about 50 mins for this whole ordeal). normally, i'd understand if the place was packed but there were only a few occupied tables with some that had already gotten their food/were finishing up. my bf and I were considering leaving after waiting for some time, but decided to stick it out since we had already waited so long. I think another table had the same idea as us and actually did walk out. our server told us that our food would be coming out soon after we had been sitting for about 40 mins already. we waited an extra ~10 for our food to finally arrive and were so disappointed. we were hoping the food would be worth the wait but it was just so underwhelming. my bf said his country fried steak & eggs was alright/nothing crazy, but I actually disliked my sunshine ranch burrito so much. first off, there were huge chunks of unseasoned potato inside, which really added nothing to the burrito. it was super bland and even the "salsa" couldn't help it as it tasted like tomato water. I eventually had to drown the burrito in ketchup & hot sauce to eat it and even then, I only finished half. the beans were also really dry inside and it was just not a good dish overall. the chicken apple sausage was probably the only good thing about the burrito, but there wasn't much in there anyway. maybe their other items are good/better but I will not be back to try them. the only good thing about this experience was how nice our server was. read more
