Chinese omelette, upgraded with "the tasty fowl!"

Living in the area, I've passed by Joyce's for years. Decided to take the jump and stop by for a bite a few times. Granted we're not high volume patrons, the experiences we've had made it more than memorable. Due to an upgraded status, finding ADA places are necessary during this era. Joyce's shop is accessible, with very limited stairs. Parking may be sparse but you don't have to worry about climbing steps. Their daily specials are plentiful, and you can modify it if you're a spice wuss (like me (thanks GERD)]. The area is nestled in a nice space, with other local shops. (Painters, HVAC, logistics & beauticians)...

My husband was in the mood for a little hole-in-the-wall place, and I didn't know of any, so I randomly picked this one. I'd say I scored some major points with him! Great food, service an awesome playlist, and we grabbed seats at the bar. Sometimes the best memories come from the places you find by chance. Enjoyed meeting the owner and hearing all about their delicious coffee from his country Guatemala near lake Atitlan!

Had a solo breakfast date here and couldn't have picked a better place. As soon as I walked in I was greeted and led to a cute little booth. The diner itself has great charm with that oldies vibe and the menu has quite an array of choices. I went with a traditional breakfast and cup of coffee. As it was a Sunday morning I decided to try a mimosa and that day their special was a watermelon flavored one. Everything was sooo good. The portion was more than enough and cooked well. I love me some crispy bacon so the fact that not a single bite was chewy is a huge plus for me. The staff were friendly and extremely attentive. With a good book, yummy food and comfortable environment it was a nice way to start off my Sunday. I will definitely be back! **** they are cash only; but do have an atm on site if needed

I love diners and am glad this place is still around. Was craving a waffle this week and decided to stop by Joyce's coffee shop in northridge since it was on the way. I had a blueberry waffle, bacon and eggs. Customer service was great, this was my second or third time dining here and my experience has always been positive. Note: this is a cash only establishment

*Please note before you go: This place is CASH ONLY!!* I went to Joyce's for brunch with family. The service was great, our waiter was attentive and it was a welcoming environment. We were lucky and were seated right away. I decided to try Joyce's special breakfast and hot tea. The breakfast special comes with two bacon, two sausage links, two scrambled eggs, and two pancakes for $14.99. The hashbrowns were perfectly crispy and were my favorite part of my plate. The sausage links were nothing special, just regular ones you'd buy at the grocery store. The bacon strips sadly tasted too much like cooking oil. The pancakes were good but were ones that I can get at any diner. Maybe I ordered the wrong plate? I'll order their waffle or a savory plate next time to see if it's better. Overall, a nice environment and wonderful staff but the food didn't stick out to me.

We love this hidden gem! My husband and I recently moved to Northridge from Granada Hills and always enjoy exploring the mom and pop spots in our neighborhood. We love supporting our community and finding places that are unique and delicious compared to big chains. We pass by this place all the time on our way to CSUN to walk our dogs, and we finally decided to come in last year. So glad we did. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming, and the food is consistently delicious. They offer weekly specials, and some of the best meals I've had here have been from those. I also had the chance to speak with the owner, who shared that she and her husband own the café and source their coffee from their own farm in Guatemala. The coffee is incredibly smooth and honestly one of my favorite parts of coming here. Joyce Café has been part of Northridge for over 50 years, which makes it feel even more special. I also love the old photos of the Valley displayed on the walls. It adds such a nostalgic and local touch. Do not leave without trying a slice of pie. They're all good, but my personal favorite is the cherry. Just a heads up, they close at 3pm and are cash only, but they do have an ATM on site. Overall, we love this place and highly recommend it. We come here often and will be back!

California Benedict Hash Browns 1/2 French Toast

Joyce's Coffee Shop in Reseda really cheered me up after a rough night. I had the California Benedict with hash browns and half an order of French toast--everything had perfectly balanced flavors and was cooked just right. The portions were generous, and the presentation made it feel like a little treat. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the cozy atmosphere makes it a great spot to relax or reset your day. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

A True Hidden Gem - Worth Every Bit! After hearing about Joyce's Coffee Shop for what felt like forever, we finally made it in and wow, it did not disappoint. This place has been serving breakfast and lunch since 1955, and the moment you walk in, you feel it. The classic diner setting is warm, nostalgic, and completely unpretentious - exactly what a neighborhood spot should be. The food was absolutely amazing. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. It's the kind of meal that reminds you why you love a good diner breakfast. The coffee was a standout highlight - sourced from a Guatemalan farm, it was rich, smooth, and honestly one of the better cups we've had in a long time. What really made the experience though was the staff. Everyone was genuinely kind and friendly - the kind of warmth that makes you feel like a regular on your very first visit. A couple of helpful tips for first-timers: Joyce's is cash only, but don't let that catch you off guard - there's an ATM on-site. Also, parking can seem tricky at first glance, but there's plenty of parking in the back. We will absolutely be back, and we can't recommend this place highly enough. If you haven't been yet, make it happen!

Ok, so when a coffee shop boasts 'best pancakes in the Valley' carbs be damned, Imma goin' in! Went with a simple Short Stack combo: 2 eggs, 2 bacon(or sausage), 2 plate size pancakes. Hubs went with 2 eggs, ham steak and country potatoes with/toast. Everything was solid. The potatoes got left behind. No flavor, but that seems to be the norm: leave it to the customer to add S/P, hot sauce, etc. They were cooked nicely. But the pancakes is why I was here. According descriptions on Yelp, they are scratch from their own recipe. They were lightly fluffy with a slight bit of "chewiness". Yummy, but I prefer Heavenly Pancakes and LuLu's, both of which are a thicker, cake-like pancake with a slight sweetness. Still, I believe, like MANY THINGS, pancakes are subjective to the palette. If you favor a slightly chewy pancake vs a cake-y pancake, Joyce's will satisfy your craving. We like coming to Joyce's because the service is always friendly and food is served promptly and well made. We enjoy all the pics and memorabilia on the walls and the OG diner vibe. Their brunch "Happy Hours" are all week, but additional special can be had on weekends and for early risers before 9am. CASH ONLY!!! But - lucky for us - an ATM is conveniently located toward the front of the restaurant. $2.50 service fee. A bucket of Red Vines near the register encourages you to 'take one and smile', so that alone should fill you with warm fuzziness. Cheers! "CC"

Joyce's Coffee Shop has that great small town feel. They have booths that run along the wall and a classic counter with stools. There is street parking as well as a parking lot in back. They only accept cash so know that! There is a restroom available to customers and it was clean. Our server was friendly and checked on us regularly. The coffee is hot and good, not bitter. They have an extensive menu, however we went there for breakfast and stuck with the classics. Bacon and eggs with crispy hash browns and english muffic. Eggs benedict with crispy hash browns. Everything came out hot, yummy, and just as ordered. We do not live in the area but had something to do in Northridge. We like to try local non-chain type spots and searched Yelp for a coffee shop. Very pleased we found this great spot. It's not fancy. It's not trendy. It's not in a large shopping center. It is a comfortable setting emitting a nostalgic, timeless feeling, almost like stepping into a memory.

I can't believe I've lived here my whole life and have only just tried this place! I pass by all the time, and I will definitely be coming again. The Joyce's special is a 10/10 I love the pancakes and hashbrowns especially! Pretty good diner food. Daily special was chilequiles and that was also delicious. Heads up it's cash only

My husband and I had the pleasure of visiting Joyce's Coffee Shop for the first time today , and it was truly an unforgettable experience. We sat at the bar and were lucky enough to be served by the legendary Joyce herself, which made the visit feel even more special and personal. Talking to her we learned that her husband is the cook and she runs the front , this is really a true mom and pop shop!! The menu truly has something for everyone. My husband isn't usually a big breakfast person, but he decided to try Joyce's Special anyway and when I tell you he devoured those pancakes, I was in complete shock. They were incredibly soft, light, and fluffy, and somehow didn't leave us feeling heavy or bloated afterward. Even the syrup stood out, its not watered down like you find at most breakfast spots. Honestly, the food looked so amazing that we didn't even get a picture we started eating immediately. The service was absolutely top tier. Every single person working there made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. You can tell they genuinely care about their customers. The bacon was to die for, perfectly cooked and full of flavor and everything tasted incredibly fresh. One of our favorite touches was the aguas frescas. We tried the watermelon and the lemon, mint, and cucumber, and they were beyond refreshing. To top it off the mint and lemon were picked fresh from their garden that very morning!! From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed, and by the time you leave, you feel like family. Joyce's Coffee Shop has that classic diner charm and warm family ambiance that's hard to find these days. I would highly recommend anyone in the San Fernando Valley to come at least once and experience it for themselves you won't regret it. 10/10 experience!

Just had a wonderful breakfast here with wifey and t'was all good! They had a good variety in their menu and a lot to choose from. We had their breakfast special which includes 2 sausage 2 bacon 2 eggs, 2 pancakes and hashbrown and it was yummy. Hashbrown was fried right and crispy. Eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly better than ihop and dennys doing it, lol! Their pancakes are creamy and fluffy! The philly cheesesteak were yummy too with the steak seasoned well and with the right amount of onion and peppers. Our server is very good. He even got our furry friend water to gulp on. Always checking up on us. Service was fast. Place is very clean, nice, organized and spacious! They also have a table and cozy seat with pillows outside if you have a furry friend with you or you just simply want the ambiance outside dining. Will definitely comeback here and give the other dish a try! Overall 4.5/5 stars!

We saw & Waffles on Yelp and decided to walk down her from the coffee shop, which was maybe a 1/4 away from each other. Once we arrived, outside you're greeted by a nice waffle with wings mural, and inside a bustling establishment. With a hostess at the front and a cheeky "(Christopher) Walkers only" sign. We waited maybe 10-15 minutes uses to be seated and then sat in the bar area if the restaurant. We ordered the following: Cajun chicken & waffle Baja Omelet w/eggs whites and side of fruit The dishes were huge; especially the Cajun chicken & waffles. But best, the food was delicious, and worth the stop in. Overall: Great food, great staff, popular spot. Would definitely come back if in the area ever again, and needed a bite to eat.

We reviewed what others had recommended prior to ordering and decided on the Texas Style Chicken and Waffles along with the Combo Burrito (with bacon and Polish sausage). Both were a winner! And to drink we enjoyed a Lavender Iced Latte and a French Vanilla Iced Latte...both also spot on! The reason I deducted a star and only gave 4 stars instead of 5 and this is a BIG pet peeve of mine that I'm noticing more restaurants doing is setting their mobile credit card machines to include tax on tips! The tip % should ALWAYS be on the subtotal however in these restaurants' desire to make life more "convenient" with the pre-set Tip options (e.g 18%, 20%, 22%), they are knowingly setting their machines to include the tax in hopes that most people likely won't catch it. I'm usually good at calculating it myself but in my haste today, simply hit the default 20% button and only realized when I got home and doubled checked the bill. Also, I don't feel they should charge more for a non-dairy milk alternative as a lot of folks have milk allergies like myself...even most of the other coffee houses don't charge for milk alternatives anymore. At an already pricey $8.49 and $7.49 for these two lattes, it's unnecessary to gouge another $0.75 for Oatmilk. Hopefully the owner sees this and will consider adjusting both.
