Was pleasantly surprised to see this new local Chinese spot open up with a wide variety of authentic dishes. Ordered takeout: beef wrap, wontons with spicy oil, beef rice noodles (chow fun), and salt pepper fish filet. The beef wrap was not crispy or flaky as others I've tried in the past but was still good and satisfied my craving for it. The salt pepper fish was fresh and hot, with crispy batter and soft flaky big pieces of fish. However, it wasn't spicy at all which I would've preferred. The beef rice noodles were a bit oily, which I expected but still enjoyed and tasted authentic. The wontons were also good, juicy and soft with a nice level of spice from the oil, and the additional spicy oil on the side was a nice touch. Online ordering was easy via their website and I will definitely be coming back to try their other dishes. read more

The food was ok. We ordered the Mongolian beef and that was fairly good. The rice was hard, like it was old. The dumplings had a mystery meet quality with hard corn in it. There was no sauce on the side to dip on. The wonton soup had a good amount of wontons and veggies, but the broth had. O flavor and the wontons had mystery meat. Will not go back. read more

We happened upon this place while in the area, and found out there are a few of them, most in north san diego county. My husband is taiwanese american and he found the fish dish with numbing spicy amazingness (I don't recall the name) that he rarely sees at restaurants. He was in heaven as was I! I've been searching for a good Sichuan restaurant and I found it last week! I ordered in Salt and Pepper Calamari and wontons in chili oil . So so good! The food came hot, chili oil was included in a separate container than the dumplings. The chili oil itself is salty and has the right amount of spices . Salt and pepper calamari was also perfectly fried and seasoned, it just missed Jalapeños/Chili peppers. Also did not come with a side of rice. Will be ordering from this place again! read more

Had a great experience here. The food is good, portions are huge and price is very reasonable. We went way overboard with how much we ordered and was pleasantly surprised by the bill. I also want to mention how great the service was. Super friendly and attentive, packaged all out to go boxes for us. Overall this was a great experience and one of the better authentic experiences in north county. Food: The stand out was the beef hot pot. The food here is great , but they asked us to leave about 45 minutes in the restaurant. We had paid and given a tip and my friend was still finishing her food that she didn't want to take home. The waiter asked us to leave because people were waiting to dine in. I know there's a minimum dine-in time of 2 hours but we were there for 45 minutes. Our party of 12 loved it here! We made reservations in advance and when we arrived, two tables were almost done so they had us wait a little so they could put two rectangles together instead of having us squeeze in a circle. The staff are super efficient. Took our order immediately, and we got food QUICK. Piping hot eggplants, savory (chewy) XLBs, juicy pork buns, Spam fried rice, popcorn chicken, wonton soup, and the list goes on. I was impressed that they were able to handle a full house + a larger party like us with no delay/errors. My entire party was very impressed (their first time here) and I'm so glad I didn't mess it up for them bc I recommended this place! Good ol' trusty Joyee's. Many don't think of this place bc of how small certain locations are, but this location is plenty roomy for larger parties. Did I also mention that the price is right with this restaurant! Many restaurants are charging well over $20/per plate with not a proportionate size, but here - the portions are pretty generous and I think many dishes were still under the $20 mark. We had leftovers. All in all, I am happy to report that we'll be coming back to support Joyee's any chance we get. read more

I recently dined at this restaurant and it was a delightful experience. The hot and sour soup had the perfect balance of flavors, and the spicy crispy chicken was incredibly flavorful and crispy. The sweet taro buns were a sweet treat that I couldn't get enough of, and the beef dumplings were tender and delicious. Service can be a little slow but this is because they're always busy... this is a good sign! Been to the Torrey Highlands location for breakfast, stopped by this Vista location for dinner. Decent "Americanized" Chinese food...pan fried pork buns were ok as well as the baked tofu with pork. Portions are good for 2-3 , prices inline from what would expect, large menu selection, quick service and decent looking place. The food was absolutely delicious and the portions were huge. We ordered a bunch of different dishes to share. Have always enjoyed their food. Have always enjoyed talking with the owner whenever we stop in. She knows we travel some distance to come to her location. Normally we would give a 5- star salute. It didn't seem reasonable to give that today after our experience today. We were disappointed that the owner wasn't there. But more important, we were even more discouraged by one of the employees who was apparently in charge of take-out orders and the front counter. She was not a pleasant person. When I asked if the condiments I requested were in the order, she claimed they were inside the bag. She was the complete opposite of the owner's cheerful personality. This was my first time here and I absolutely loved it! The atmosphere is casual and pleasant with nice music and friendly staff. They serve delicious hot tea and the menu is huge! With the overwhelming positive reviews of this place I'm so sad that everything I've tried has not been good. My last attempt at going was last week on my lunch break, I decided to try what is typically two of my favorite things to get, cream cheese wontons and walnut shrimp. The place is pretty empty and the food comes out within 10 minutes even with the seeming large amount of to go orders they have. Start to eat my food and immediately notice the wontons aren't crispy in the slightest. Weird as they just got made, maybe those got cooked first and they let them sit while making the shrimp dish? I'll never know but the real mishap here is the walnut shrimp. It's off-putting and incredibly sour! Nothing in it should be sour, it was so gross. I decide to take the rest of my food home to let my bf try out and he even said the walnut shrimp reminded him of a sickly sweet coleslaw base. Also worth nothing they do add a fee to help "cover the rising cost of" blah blah blah, seriously just pay your employees more. It's always packed in there I'm sure you can afford it. Another reason I will not be going back. Honesty, go around the corner to Pho Truc Xanh and get infinitely better food for a lot cheaper. read more
