Super fast service, very clean inside, the food was incredible, hot and flavorful. The only thing I didn't like is that they close at 9pm and we arrived for a quick dinner at 8pm, they locked the doors behind us and put up chairs/ mopped around us the whole meal. This is to the chef: please fix the orange chicken recipe. It is so chewy that it turns fibrous and chewy in the mouth and we have to spit it out. This is the second time. Tried the new location in Oceanside and it's the same. Panda Express makes 10x better orange chicken. I noticed that other reviewers had similar experience with the orange chicken. Chef, please taste the orange chicken and you will know what I am talking about. Otherwise, the restaurant is really nice with good flavors. I will update the stars to 5 if someone reaches out to me. Also wanted to talk more about my last experience here. My wife ordered take out and went in to pick it up. She asked for more chili oil and vinegar since we ordered dumplings for multiple people but instead of giving it to her, they just gave her an attitude and said everything for or order is in the bag. Not wanting to press the issue, my wife left. When she got home we began to unpack the bag and immediately noticed they forgot the sauce for the Dan Dan noodles, essentially just giving us completely plain noodles. I decided to be the one to go back as my wife just got home from a long day of work. I walked in and explained to the person at the counter what happened and she didn't believe me. In her words, she wanted proof that it wasn't in there. WHO TF WALKS IN AND ASKS FOR JUST DAN DAN SAUCE? I tried explaining it again and she requested the receipt which I did not have. Instead of taking my word for it I had my wife send me a photo of the receipt. She then proceeds to hand me 2 Dan Dan sauce containers and states I gave you an extra one complimentary. WTF would I do with an extra sauce container? It's not like I had two orders. I didn't ask for anything....but if I did, what makes you think an extra sauce is the best way to make it right with the customer? This restaurant has a total of 11 tables inside, a few more tables outside on their unshaded patio. It was early evening, about 6 pm. Two of us. Three available tables inside: one large round for a party of about 6, one clean table for 2-4 up front and a dirty table (same size) by the front door. We seated ourselves at the only clean table up front. Nikki ("manager") acted as though she'd caught us shoplifting. She told us "all of the tables have reservations!" Come to find they don't take reservations except for large parties. She was obviously saving that table in hopes a larger party or a regular she knows came in. She exiled us to the uncleared table at the door. We soon discovered why--their AC blasts right on top of you and your food at that awful spot. We bought numerous items. All were destroyed by the refridgerator on top of us. In shivering desperation I went out to the car for a blanket. They need to remedy the freeze out situation of their front table. It's just not right to punish your customers and destroy their meals like this. Our server, James, was kind, courteous and hard working. ALL of of food was cold within minutes of it hitting the table. Their Spicy Orange Chicken, Garlic Green Beans and Fried Rice were all good but need to be served and enjoyed warm. Not ice cold. The egg and chive dumplings were an inedible mess. Their custard buns might have been something to enjoy but were a congealed mess ice cold. I worked for years in fine dining and restaurants of every level. I've known managers like Nikki, who consider themselves to be shrewd but are damaging their restaurant every single day. The order was for me and my mom, and my mom doesn't like garlic so when I asked if they could make the bok choy with ginger rather than garlic, they accommodated me with the alteration. Mom said her bok choy was really good. The fish and chives dumplings were fantastic! The egg drop soup was good but it was even better when I added the leftover sauce from the dumplings (vinegar and soy sauce- I know it may be weird but, the mix worked very well) . The taro buns were absolutely perfect- not too sweet, but flavorful. I would say the food I ordered at Joyee's is as good as Din Tan Fung (a Michelin starred Taiwanese restaurant), but unlike Din Tai Fun, Joyee's has more pescaterian and vegetarian options. We had the sweet and sour ribs, the scallion pancakes, garlic string beans, shrimp and pork shumai and the hot and sour soup!!! EVERYTHING was so tasty! The Shumai is plump full with ground pork and shrimp. The ribs did have a little bit of fat on them but were tender and flavorful. Of course the string beans and hot and sour soup were good as these are our staples when ordering from Joyee! If it's this good when delivered I imagine it has to be even better in the restaurant. We were rushed from the minute we sat down, we ordered appetizers and asked to keep a menu to figure out what to share next. They took the menu away anyway. We ordered wontons in spicy oil and cream cheese wontons. Nothing we ordered had any flavor, I couldn't get a hint of spice no matter how much extra chili oil I added. We asked for the check since the menus were gone and we couldn't order more food. I didn't tip because the service felt rude and the food wasn't anything I couldn't make at home better. I have found my new favorite! The server/hostess/bus person was such a pleasant person. She made me know that I would enjoy my meal no matter what it tasted like. Luckily, it was wonderful! The menu was so diverse; dim sum, entrees, noodles- anything you could want! We had Xio Long Bao; Pork & Green Onion Buns; Spicy, Crispy Chicken; Green Bean with Garlic; Combo Chow Mein. ALL wonderful!!! The Spicy, Crispy Chicken is spiced with Szechuan pepper which can make your mouth tingle - warning! It isn't necessarily hot, just that numb/tingle feeling. We had it with light spice an it was very good. To drink we had a peach tea, which wasn't what I expected but was very good. I recommend Vista's Joyee's to everyone! read more

Tucked in the corner next to Ding Tea, Joyee offers a wide variety of Chinese dishes ranging from soups, dumplings, steamed buns, entrees, and more. We decided to try the beef rice noodle and pork & shrimp dumplings. Both came out promptly, hot, and fresh. We really enjoyed both!!! Ordered the soup dumplings for takeout but there was hardly any soup or meat inside and had a funky smell. Tasted like mystery meat to me. The bbq pork bun barely had any pork and the marinade inside was very salty. The Dan Dan noodles were the most tolerable in taste but there was hardly any ground beef inside. I'm a huge fan of soup dumplings so was very excited to learn Joyee opened near my house. I placed an order to go. Everything was packaged well. However, no sauces or chopsticks were included, which was disappointing. For their soup dumplings, they would be much better eaten at the restaurant. Unfortunately the dumplings got stuck to the bottom of the container so all of the liquid drained out when trying to remove them. What was ordered: Scallion Pancake - very good and would get again. Cream cheese wonton - Extra sauce on side - these were ok but didn't come with sauce Eggplant with Szechuan Sauce - very good. Walnut Shrimp - Loved this dish and it was perfectly cooked. Will definitely get again. Xiaolongbao Steam Bun - liked and have potential but lost all the broth when I took dumplings out of the carton. Combination Chow Mein - decent but could have skipped it.
