I have been craving Chinese wraps for a long time so I am glad I found this place (around a 40 minute drive with traffic). After going to a head spa nearby, I was starving! There were two groups there at 3:30pm but I could see this place being busy during lunch time. I ordered the 5 piece handmade spring wrap, side vegetables (onions and cucumber), Yu-shiang scrambled eggs, and stir-fried king oyster mushroom. Everything came out around the same time, hot and fresh. I enjoyed the eggs because they were sweet and salty but I wasn't a big fan of the mushrooms. The flavor wasn't interesting, just mostly salt and soy sauce? The server was very nice and gave me additional wraps for free but I could only finish 4. They were very filling and the pancakes are so chewy and tasty! I ended up taking most of it home. I ate the left overs with rice and ate the wraps with hummus and they were so good reheated! I am definitely coming back to try the other dishes but this place would be good for groups because you can order a bunch of things to try. read more

Place was easy to locate, it's not that large but it wasn't crowded and we had our baby with us so it was still able to fit out stroller. We ordered the duck meat along with 10 wrappers and the cold gluten dish. Honestly could not tell that meat was duck cause it was so fatty and could've passed as thinly sliced pork. There was too much fat/grit to it that made it a tough chew so it wasn't a favorable experience. The cold gluten dish was the only good dish among the two. A little on the overpriced side but wife wanted me to experience this style wrap and we were in the area so gave it a shot. Don't think it will be a place for me to return to. read more

Aside from a bit of slow service, everything else pretty good. Especially that sauce, really enjoyed the sauce! Salty goodness. We ordered 10pieces each for the thin chewy wrap and the spring wrap. Personally, I like the spring wrap more, texture works better with the fillings than chewy wrap. Also ordered, wrap set (cilantro, cucumber, red onion and scallions), spicy shredded pork, bean sprouts/chive&tofu noodle, and spicy boiled fish (top layer thinly sliced fish, bottom layer of tofu noodle and cabbage/sprout). The spicy fish was mildly mala, wish there were more fish slices. My take: spring wrap + slice red onion + sauce + scallions + spicy shredded pork (it's not spicy) + bean sprouts/tofu/chives Between three people, average we ate about 4-5 wraps per person. Definitely going again in the future, just for the sauce. :) read more

The food was freshly made and had good flavor, this may be biased because it is a nostalgic meal for me. the pancakes tasted fresh made to order and were very chewy and had good texture. if they are busy be ready to order when you get seated (typical Asian restaurant etiquette). We arrived around 12pm on a Sunday and had a table of 5. We got seated pretty quickly but soon noticed that a line was forming after. It can get busy on the weekends so I'd suggest arrive early expecting to wait to be seated. Portions can be small so do keep it in mind and order more portions if you're more than 2-3 people. It's better to order everything at once than adding more dishes as you go. This will save you time. Food was delicious and I would 100% come back again. They also give you gloves to wear if you prefer not to get your hands dirty. I'm a sucker for anything involving rolls or wraps, and this place hit the spot for me. This is a casual spot and good to meet up with family/friends/etc. there is a tea shop, daiso, and miniso that you can visit after as well. Staff were courteous and attentive despite being so busy. I noticed that they had good teamwork and were focused on each table's needs. Parking is convenient and is located in the plaza of the 168 market. Plenty of spaces available. This is a must try and don't let the lower ratings scare you off. It seems that they are pretty newly opened and trying to improve on whatever they can. Food is delicious!! My family and I always have a great time. Portion size is kind of small, but the taste is delectable. Service is also attentive and they will come by and ask if we need any refills for water and soup. My favorites are the Kung pao chicken, stir fried spicy beef, yuxiang shredded pork, beans sprouts chives and tofu, and the peking sauce shredded pork. The complimentary millet porridge is also really good as well! A relaxing and casual atmosphere. Great spot for families and friends. It's located in a plaza with 168 market, Daiso, and Miniso so lots of things to do afterwards. read more

Came here on my uncle's recommendation for a family luncheon. Thumbs up for beautiful owner Erving to accommodate a large party. Tables are easily assembled to seat any number of guests, unfortunately no round tables with lazy susan for easy sharing lol. Awesome fresh spring pancakes I've not had for a long long time. Pancakes are tight and chewy, unlike some sticky mushy pancakes currently on the market calling themselves "spring pancakes", wraps the contents tight and won't break in your hands so feel free to load up the fillings. Dishes are tasty with individual flavors, unlike others where every dish tasted the same with the same "sauce" haha. Full of "wokhei" to boost flavors, the fresh "lauded" pancakes are labor intensive so the price reflects it and it's understandable, rice instead to enjoy the dishes good too, or the bottomless millet soup works as well. Service is great since we all understand how a large party demands extra attention, especially they were shorthanded the day we went. Price and portion are reasonable so highly recommend for family meals. Service was great, we got our food within 10 mins and our waiter was very kind and attentive. We were given disposable food gloves to eat our wraps with so we won't get our hands dirty. I like how the wraps come in affordable small size orders so I can decide exactly how many to order and not waste food. It's definitely different, I don't think there are any other wrap restaurants in the area, really creative idea. I like having soups and porridge with my meals. I ordered a millet porridge and hot and sour soup (think they were like $1.99 each bowl). It just didn't really show in the photo because I drank both within the first 5 mins before I remembered to take a picture. This place is perfect for those days where you're tired of eating rice and just want some pancake and porridge! read more

Long line during opening, so we waited to visit when there is no line. Simply you first order the wraps, which is like tortillas, they come in two choices, both are good. (yes, almost a dollar each piece) .. then you order what you want inside the wraps as well as side orders. We came as a group so we ordered a few dishes. We like the idea that we can choose to add to our wrap according to our preference and portion, like my friends who have smaller appetites, so they can wrap smaller. It seemed a bit mild, and as someone who is Mexican, I thought it was missing the depth, spice, and bold flavor you usually find in authentic chilaquiles. Overall, the food is solid, the portions are generous, and the pancakes alone make it worth a visit. It's a great local breakfast spot that I'd be happy to come back to.

I visited JoyRoll Spring Pancake for the first time and it absolutely exceeded my expectations! The restaurant is easy to find on Colima Rd, and there are plenty of parking spaces behind and around the plaza, making the visit super convenient even during busy hours. Their spring pancakes are the real highlight--freshly made, soft, and perfect for wrapping all the flavorful dishes. In terms of location, this is inside the Secoya market so it's not the easiest to spot from the street. So the way they work is that they have a selection of ingredients available (string beans, chicken, pork blood, etc.) like a taiwanese stand would, and you basically select what you want. They batter that sucker up with their beautiful batter and then they double fry it on the spot, which I don't see a lot of places doing. The result is a nice crispy batter with the moisture sealed into the meats. The texture is very, very nice and the meats are properly marinated. You can also order a whole foot long squid that they'll just chop up and fry for you, and apparently you can buy seafood from the market and have it fried there as well. Actually, aside from the fried goodness, this place also doubles as a very solid traditional taiwanese slush place. While the slush itself isn't fancy, it had the same flavor profile and feel as Dong Qu Fen Yuan in Taipei. The textures and flavors were very nostalgic and it really reminded us of Taiwan. This place is an absolute gem. If you're in the mood for some fried taiwanese food, it might just be the best in the area.

You pick a pot of food, it comes out on a burner, and then you eat it while it's cooking on a small fire. When I first saw the menu prices online, I thought there was a surcharge because it was online but when I actually arrived, the prices online were correct. In essence, it's like a more expensive version of Boiling Point. I got the Beef Hot Soup Pot and it was 23.99 for dinner, which is more expensive compared to Boiling Point which is less than 20 before tax. So it's costing more than BP. There are other pots on the menu too which is about the same price as BP which is like 20 bucks. I was kinda surprised that the ingredients were pretty much like for like in terms of what is inside it. In terms of taste, it's similar to BP as well, I feel the pot here is a bit bigger but I felt like I was eating a lot of cabbage. I don't think there was more beef/meat. They also have the bean sauce (which is my favorite), but it's a little bit saltier here. Service here is okay. The employees don't really walk around to check on you. They mostly stay in the front counter huddled together. I struggled to get a water refill until the very end when I got my check. The interior is pretty big, the parking lot wasn't packed when I arrived and there was plenty of parking spaces. Restaurant was a bit empty during peak dinner time. Overall, my impression of this place is that it's a more expensive version of Boiling Point which makes it just okay in my book. If you are craving BP and don't want to wait for those lines, this is the next best thing but I feel like the beef pot shouldn't cost 3 dollars more than BP. After tax and tip you're pushing like 30 dollars for a Beef Pot.

I decided to finally visit and chose the Rowland Heights location since it's conveniently located next to a 99 Ranch, and I wanted to go grocery shopping after. Dolan's has received many accolades such as winning #63 on the L.A. Times 101 Best Restaurants in 2025 (#44 in 2024) and received an 8.0 rating from the Infatuation [2, 3]. If you're curious like me, the word "Dolan" refers to a people or region of what is now the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) and refers to an earlier culture and civilization in the region [4]. The restaurant is comfortable, not too many tables. Since I was eating dinner pretty late, there was only one other party finishing up their meal. The walls are decorated with plates, musical instruments, and trinkets that I'm assuming are associated with the Uyghur culture. A huge mural near the back features comically muscular men playing musical instruments with #GoogleUyghurs on the top right corner, referring to the oppression of Uyghur and other Turkic minorities in XUAR. The Simon-Skjodt Center for the Prevention of Genocide published its report "Eight Years On, China's Repression of the Uyghurs Remains Dire" in February 2025, and I thought it was a great resource that provides a thorough background on the matter [5]. I've also seen a few recommendations for the spiced blossom tea, but I didn't want an entire pot just for myself. Sadly, the Rowland Heights location doesn't have the Small Plate Chicken option that the other two locations offer, and I thought the Big Plate Chicken would be too much food. You can't go wrong with a rice dish, so I ended up ordering the: * Uyghur Polo ($19.95) The dish was absolutely delicious, probably the best thing I've eaten so far this year. The savory leg of lamb was fall-off-the-bone tender and paired perfectly with the sweetness from the soft carrots and onions. Not gamey at all. There was a sheen of oil on every rice kernel.
