Really good sushi. Location is not great and is a little off-putting. Best sushi you can get in the area, though, so worth it. I usually sit at the sushi bar, which is large and has a lot of seats. They always have some daily specials, which usually include some sushi combination as well as other things like bento boxes. I really like the sushi specials. They usually include a variety of sushi, and they often let you choose whatever roll you would like to include. The Oceans 11 roll is one of my favorites. read more

I figured that I would try a different Sushi place from my usual (Circle Sushi). Thought this place would have been great considering the reviews but not. Overpriced, the sushi was not fresh, too much rice in the roll not and not enough fish. The shrimp tempura tasted as if it was fried in burnt oil. The miso soup was flavorless. The service was great but for what I was served, I feel it was not worth the price. But the wine was great. read more

I have eaten here a couple of times and enjoyed the food. However this past weekend I ordered my normal salmon skin rolls. 2 hours later I experienced the worse 52 hours of my life. I know it was food poisoning and it was from here. The rolls had a little different taste but I blew that off. I did not eat or drink anything else. 2 hours later I was vomiting with diarrhea non stop. Be careful. read more

I've become a "Sushi once a week" gal during the past 2 months. My girlfriend has always been that gal and together we've decided this is our new favorite sushi place. I like crunchy outside and cream cheese inside... whatever I ordered was done just right and had an amazing taste. Sorry...cant remember what is was called. It was 9.50 and the size of a small sub! I couldn't eat any piece in just one bite. It had to be bit in half and was surprisingly easy to do. Presentation was very nice, as it was drizzled with a caramelized Teriyaki and spicy mayo. I couldn't finish it because I had ordered the tempura calamari as an app. It was a light beer batter coating and perfect dipped in the spicy mayo. I couldn't even tell you by name what my girlfriend ordered. I can however tell you that it was a roll with salmon on it, cream cheese inside, and a drop of hot sauce on top. She said it was the best she'd had in a long time. She also ordered tempura salmon patty crickettes (I might have made that up but you'll know it when you see it on the menu) and we both loved it. Amazing place! And so full of patience. I have a severe sesame allergy and they were able to make everything to my specified diet and couldn't be more happier with the result. I had to meet my mom for dinner, and we decided to give JP a try after reading 4-star average reviews from Yelp. The place can use a major renovation; I felt uneasy walking into a sushi resto that seemed unkempt... They only have the usual fish other middle of the run sushi restaurants have; no uni, o-toro, or any other more tasty fish. It seemed they specialize in cooked rolls since they do not have to worry about the freshness of the fish if they are cooked. What turned me off the most was the service; I am a native Korean and the place is obviously owned by Koreans who spoke the language amongst each other and they had no idea I understood what they were saying. It was the tone and just a miserable demeanor my server displayed that really made me regret ever walking into that place. She never greeted or smiled at us; our questions were answered with a very cold and stoic "NO" and just seemed to hate her life. I am not sure if she is related to the owner or not; if so, she needs to be educated on hospitality or at least learn to say, "hello". Ohh, she finally warmed up and said goodbye to me once she saw I gave her 40% tip out of pity for her misery and plus I knew she was splitting the tip with another older lady who was sooooo much more pleasant and just wonderful to us even though we were not in her section. read more

We went here because we were on this side of town and the restaurant was highly recommended in yelp. My partner and I ordered the shrimp bento boxes for lunch. Overall, I would say the experience was a mixed bag... There was ample food - in fact, I was stuffed. The box comes with a miso soup that was very nice. There was a salad with a good ginger dressing; edamame beans that you shell yourself. They were perfectly cooked, not mushy or over salted. I like the tempura'd vegetables - one piece each of squash, zucchini and onion ring. My partner thought it was ho-hum. The shrimp teriyaki was served next to a bed of rice. I thought it was quite nice and the portion size was ample given everything else in the box. My partner was not so enthusiastic. She and I agreed on the nigiri and california roll.... not so hot. First of all, the rice is supposed to be prepared with a brew of salt, sugar and vinegar. To my palate it was non existent. This presents a problem as there is no way to fix the missing flavor. It also detracts from wonderment of sushi. The tuna was on the fishy side, the Tilapia had notes of mud and the salmon was so-so. The latter was missing that delicious creamy flavor of a nice fatty piece of salmon. Anyhow, I don't know if it was a cheaper quality fish or if the fish was old....in either event the sushi was not the quality I expect. Lastly, this restaurant is expensive when it comes to lunch. $13.00 before drinks is on the high side for my taste. The service was nice. The ambiance is fine - inviting and comfortable. read more

This place is definitely tucked away in a shopping center but a pretty decent dive. We like to go there when we're craving fried rice with spicy mayo. And the sushi is good; fish is fresh and the size of the roll is nice. We tried our first Japanese soda there and my husband is in love. I cannot say enough good things about JP. EVERYTHING is delicious. I have been coming here for years to have their sushi. Most of time I grab something for lunch. I usually call an order in and it's ready within 15 minutes. They offer a nice assortment of rolls to choose from that will satisfy any taste; from raw to cooked. Some of my favorites... The Atomic (raw), Volcano (cooked) and the Route 66 (Cooked). Everything is always from the freshest ingredients and I do not know anyone who has ever gotten sick. They have a great track record. (I know it's a little scary trying a new sushi place) Believe me you will not go wrong. For people who are not looking to eat sushi they also have a nice menu to choose from of Yakisoba and other noodle dishes, as well as chicken teriyaki. The Gyoza is also a favorite (I honestly only go for the sushi though) I would say that they are competitively priced but for a lunch I look at it as a treat as for two rolls you are looking at just over $20. Which by sushi standard is normal. The portions are comparable to the price. Most rolls are the standard 8 slices but they are perfect size to put in your mouth. I don't think I've ever had a roll that was too big. (I personally hate that when I have to bite my roll in half, They taste the best when you can put the whole thing in your mouth and let all of the flavors marry together) One to two rolls should fill most people comfortably. But I recommend going with a friend or two so you can get a couple and then share :) The only negative thing I can say is the ambiance. It is nothing special at all. Not fancy at all. Just booths and a large wrap around bar. A lot of people would probably be turned off by it honestly. The hours are split for lunch and dinner so check their site for hours. Happy Eating. read more
