A new favorite! I know it's basic but I always get the Pad Thai when we go to new Thai restaurants as a comparison and this one did not disappoint! Less sweet than others in town which was a positive for me. They also packed a ton in the container so I was able to have it for lunch the next day as well. Husband got the boat noodles with beef. The broth was super flavorful and came with a selection of toppings and hot spices/sauces for you to adjust the heat. I think the only negative I have was the sticky rice with mango. Not bad by any means but it was on the mushy/watery side and definitely did not compare to the quality of others in town. Overall we'd definitely come back! Excellent Green Curry! I tried the green curry at a spice level 3, with pork and added eggplant... it was so delicious! A thinner curry than some others I've had but excellent flavor. My partner had the Thai Basil Chicken dish, also at a 3 and loved it. We got take away, and it took a bit, but that was because the place was packed! Clearly I didn't know the gem I lived next to. 12/23. Nine of our line dance group went to JP Thai for lunch after class. We were very pleased with the food and service. The atmosphere was very friendly and we could talk to our hearts content. The server had a lot of business acumen and before the restaurant was busy, took food orders from whoever was ready to order. Since I wasn't ready, when the food was served I had to wait. Waiting a little bit was ok, because I had a difficult time trying to choose the dish I wanted and there was no reason for others in our group to wait. I ordered the Pad Thai with chicken. Very good and oodles of food. I took about 2/3 of it home for leftovers dining at home. A friend ordered the Pad See Ew which has the wide "fun" type of noodle. It also looked delicious and I will try it the next time. Another person ordered the avocado curry - lots of avocado. Yummy. read more

Inside is clean. Service was great. The food wasn't as good as I thought it would be. I had ordered a thaiboat. The noodle appeared to be glass noodles unlike the traditional pho noodles. I order food here for the very first time and through door dash for group order (treating everyone for lunch) . The food was packed with flavor. Their pad Thai is very delicious. Have salty and a tad sweet to the noodles which I like but still pack with flavor. I have to say this is the best pad Thai noodles I have in Sacramento. Compare to some places, pad Thai are usually more on a sweeter side. Another order we had was crab fried rice. Ohhh, they use real crab meat and not those imitation crabs. I can understand why is a lil pricey but the portion is really good for the price. Yellow curry with a mild kick. I love spicy food and this is actually my first time having it with spice. Normally, I see a lot of place have yellow curry of a more sweet/salty taste. The curry they have is very good. The potatoes are perfectly cooked. Not undercooked or over cooked. Service I would say 10/10. We had a few who are picky. One didn't like tomatoes and the other didn't like peanuts. Each box was labeled with our name and description. Staff member are very attentive. I usually order their food to-go and love the convenience of calling ahead and grabbing it on my way home to my family - it's always piping hot and served with a smile. My friends and I have met for lunch here and it's very busy with lots of families and other groups at nearly every table. The booths are comfortable and I like watching the shows they have on the television while eating there, or just waiting for my food. It's a cute little spot. read more

I had a really big craving for Thai food and I was hunting around for a place when someone on NextDoor.com mentioned JP Thai. Apparently I had been a while ago - I remember the inside looking really cool - Wooded with lots of nice Asian paintings and such. Anyway, I found their restaurant on Beyond Menu and was able to place an order online. The website is ok, but it's not great on showing you the time you should pick up and such - So I think next time I place an order I will do it over the phone. I called and asked when I should come get the food and woman on the phone said it was ready. She was super sweet! I ordered drunken noodles, papaya salad, and yellow curry with spice level of 3. Also, an extra Thai tea which I split with my hubs. The noodles were the perfect spice that sneaks up on you - This hit my cravings out of the ball park! Love the basil and the tomatoes they put in. The papaya salad was very good, but definitely on the sweet side, which means it was definitely Thai style papaya salad and not Lao style, which is was I prefer. It was still great! My hubs really liked the yellow curry - We got both the noodles and curry with prawns and they were pretty good sized. My hubs went to pick it up - He pulled up, hopped in, and said he was there for a pick up. Hand down the best Thai Food I've had in Sacramento. My typical order here is the red curry with tofu and vegetables, extra spicy, but I also like the tofu, eggplant dish and avocado curry. This place uses a variety of fresh vegetables and customize your order based on how spicy you would like your meal. The customer service is always great and all of the staff are very friendly. My only real complaint at the potions have gotten much smaller post pandemic. read more

Our senior exercise group enjoyed another delicious lunch at JP Thai today! Our large group consisted of 31 people and we were all given separate checks. By working in advance and pre-ordering with Premika, we enjoyed such a delicious lunch with a very fast and smooth distribution/serving of our dishes with no problems, thanks to the fast-moving and friendly waitress. Premika and Jai went above and beyond to ensure that we could all easily get to their restaurant, despite their small parking lot. They borrowed parking spots from a nearby business and they also provided shuttle service to/from their restaurant and a nearby designated area we set up for cars to park. That was such a blessing! Thank you to Premika and Jai and everyone else at JP Thai for making our lunch so enjoyable! Your customer service is excellent and all your food is so delicious. First time trying this location and food was delicious. Placed an order to go on the phone for chicken drunken noodles and yellow curry, both spicy. I was told it would take 15 minutes. I got in around 12 mins and my food was done. Awesome service, 10/10! Food was fresh and full of flavors. Took me about 15-20 mins to get home, and food was still nice and hot. I was very happy when white rice was packed with my food as I didn't know it comes with the curry, and I didn't order any on the side. In the next couple of days, decided to try this place again so I ordered chicken pad thai and panang curry, both in spicy. I would say spice level is more on the medium for spicy. Looking for a quick and easy dinner - while craving some spice - I opened up my bookmarks to see what I had saved. I came across JP Thai Kitchen and thought I'd give it a try. I called ahead to place my order for takeout and was told my food would be ready in 15 minutes. I drove over and my food was waiting for me behind the counter. It was piping hot (always a good sign) and the hostess who rang me out was friendly. They did really well bagging up my food - I'm always nervous to transport food in my car - but even the soup was double bagged and didn't leak at all (yay!). When I got home, I dug in! I had ordered Tom Yum soup (medium spice) and drunken noodles (medium spice). The soup was average - not my favorite Tom Yum in town. It had these strange roots/herbs that were super hard and completely inedible. The drunken noodles were decent. My biggest qualm: medium spice = hardly any spice at all. Spice can be hit or miss but I wish I would have known because I was craving spice and all I got was "meh". This place will do the trick though if you're looking for Thai food and fast. read more

Let me start by saying it's newly discovered as I just moved to the Pocket area and discovered the location. This is the definition of a hidden gem. Granted I've only been here, on numerous occasions, for lunch. Sometimes I dine in and sometimes I take it to-go depending on how busy my work day is going. The decor inside is very nice, don't let the outdoor fool you. Also, they have the most friendly front of the house you will ever experience. Now lets get to the food. Can I just say their recipes are totally amazing. I usually get medium spicy, and I haven't had anything on the menu I don't like. Some of my favorites are the eggplant stir fry, fried rice dishes, any noodle dish, and the red and green curries. Whatever your go to, they'll will have an option you will like. I literally live a few minutes away walking distance and I normally don't stop here. Love me some thai had a craving for some sweet mango sticky rice. Decided to order some on the way home today. Positive: Sticky rice was fresh, very warm medium size of rice portion and the mango was super sweet and chilled. The hot sticky rice and sweet mango had a great combination together including the texture of the rice and color of rice which complimented the vibrant fruit. Negative: the coconut cream had a watery consistency not as thick as I normally have seen in this traditional dish. The rice was not sweet(inside), the coconut cream was placed on top did not taste as if they mixed the coconut sweet cream inside of the rice. For the price of this dessert. The portion of the mango was a very small portion, normally on this traditional dish there is a good portion of mango garnishing the rice. read more
