I literally live a few minutes away walking distance and I normally don't stop here. Love me some thai had a craving for some sweet mango sticky rice. Decided to order some on the way home today. Positive: Sticky rice was fresh, very warm medium size of rice portion and the mango was super sweet and chilled. The hot sticky rice and sweet mango had a great combination together including the texture of the rice and color of rice which complimented the vibrant fruit. Negative: the coconut cream had a watery consistency not as thick as I normally have seen in this traditional dish. The rice was not sweet(inside), the coconut cream was placed on top did not taste as if they mixed the coconut sweet cream inside of the rice. For the price of this dessert. The portion of the mango was a very small portion, normally on this traditional dish there is a good portion of mango garnishing the rice. read more

I was going down Franklin up past Fruitridge and thought I'd hit Thai Siam for lunch. As I walk up to the door I see at least 10 people waiting to be seated. Not a good sign. Light bulb goes off in head "hey this is close to JP Thai and I have it bookmarked to try anyway". So off I go to JP. No waiting here today. The inside of the restaurant is very nicely decorated, Much nicer than Siam. But it's the food that counts and Siam has good food. Reviews for JP's are good so I expect good food here also. I order the lunch special Thai Basil Fried Rice with pork. A couple of minutes later she brings me a cup of soup. Mostly broth and it's tasty. Rice comes and it a huge platter of very good looking fried rice. I load some Thai chilis and fish sauce on to it and try it. Very good! I'm happy I came here today. I'll come back and bring Corina. The rice is excellent and there's lots of it so 5 stars for today. Next time I will try a different dish and see if the 5 stars hold up. read more

Tables aren't crowded together; it's a pleasant, quiet environment. And they have a great beer selection too. Plenty of parking. It's close to us -- I wish we had discovered it years ago. On a windy night in May, I decided to try Erawin Thai located off Freeport Blvd. It seems this restaurant used to be very popular in its old location. The building they are in now is really interesting- from the inside it seems like it is completely round, and the walls are curved. It feels like you are sitting in a genie bottle. It is clean and nicely decorated with booths and tables, along with a large aquarium. I came with a party of 5 and we sampled from the menu. The cool thing about the menu is you can choose your meat, and then the type of veggie, stir fry, noodles or rice you want. They have a huge list of appetizers and this is a vegetarian/vegan friendly place. We ordered chicken w/peanut sauce and spinach, chicken with sautéed eggplant, tofu pad thai, beef with pan fried silver noodles, and a few orders of sticky rice. Everything was delicious! The chicken with peanut sauce was wonderful- loads or spinach and not too sweet, it was perfect with the sticky rice. The eggplant was under cooked, but our server took it back and brought us a re-fired dish very quickly, that was sumptuous and melt-in-your-mouth soft. It had chili, onions, bell pepper, basil leaves, coconut milk and red curry paste. Drooling now! The pad thai was great, lots of tofu, egg and veggies, and not too dry with ample noodles. The beef and silver noodles were a tad salty, but there was nothing left over! It came with egg, onions, tomatoes, green onions and vegetables. The portions are not huge, but everything was tasty and fresh, and the prices average for the dishes, so I have no complaints. Tip- if you have never had sticky rice I highly recommend it! It comes in a little bamboo basket in a ball. It is thick and chewy and glutinous, and soaks up all the sauce. Be careful not to eat too much, it will expand in your stomach. It is so good! The service was attentive- when we sent back the eggplant dish, the server was eager to make things right. Overall, a good Thai place with tasty food, nice atmosphere and friendly service. read more

For years I dined at Erawan at their previous location and really enjoyed their food, so I was excited to see if it was the same at this new location. Plus, we were sent coupons and the only thing better than thai food is thai food that is 15% off! My boyfriend, sister, and I arrived at Erawan around 5:45pm on Saturday night. The small parking lot was a little crowded, but we managed to find grab the last space. When we entered, there was a large table of about 10 people seated in the middle of the dining area. They all stared at us immediately and we were confused. Why were they staring at us? We don't know you?? One of the seated men called for a waitress to come seat us. I guess it was the owners' and their family having dinner... But it was really awkward and kind of made us feel uncomfortable. I believe there was only one other table of customers, so I guess their family party took up all the other parking spaces in the lot. We ordered and the food came out relatively quickly (about 15 minutes). Angel wings: chicken wings stuffed with the type of filling you would find in an egg roll. The filling tasted like they put a little too much of some herb in it - it was kinda strong. But we still ate it. Served with a sweet and sour type of dipping sauce. Pad Thai: comes with chicken and very small shrimp. The portion was not as large as I was hoping for, but I really enjoy their flavor. It is more on the "wet" side for pad Thais, but tasty nonetheless. Panang curry: this was my first time having panang as I usually order yellow curry. The sauce was very flavorful - I liked the curry and peanut taste. It has chicken, red bell pepper, and slices of lime leaf in it. I missed the potatoes and carrots that usually come in yellow curry. The lime leaf slices were kinda weird too because they're thin enough where you can eat it, but it's not an ingredient I'm used too. My sister and boyfriend picked theirs out before eating. This was served with fluffy steamed rice and the waitress even scooped the rice onto our plates for us, which was nice. The two female waitresses were a little slow with the water refills. When we paid with a $50, the waitress brought back our change in large bills (no one dollar bills). Uh was this a ploy to get $5+ in tips? There also wasn't a receipt. Overall, this location is easier to get to from my home so I'm happy for the move. Their flavors are very authentic and the price isn't too bad either. Hopefully their new staff we get a hang of it. The flavors of even their simple dishes like cucumber salad, spicy tofu in sweet chile and Pad Thai are spectacular. I am a Pad Kee Mao snob and have had much better at many resturants in Sacramento, but I still order it here. The Covid protocals are followed to a tee and they are super nice and timely on their orders. I do feel bad that this site no longer links the direct numbers to the resturants because places like this are bareley making it with Covid and for them to have to pay other platforms for allowing on-line ordering even though the customer is picking up the food, is just plain sad. This place is located in a tiny strip mall in the middle of a neighborhood. Weird location I know, but the food is good. Great spot to go to for a quickie lunch. Got seated and had food on the table in all under 10mins. Pretty impressive I must admit! As for the food, I just wished the curry sauce was a tad bit thicker. Also, for some reason some of the squash was a bit bitter? But overall, everything else was good. I loved the presentations of their dishes. They have a decent lunch menu. I think they all come with complimentary soup. Prices are average, averaging around $7-$8 a dish. I wanted to try the Duck Curry, but wasn't able to find it on the lunch menu anywhere. This spot might be a better place to try during dinner time, as they will probably have a larger selection at that time. I definitely do want to come back and try the Papaya Salad though, since I read that they can make it Laos Style. Just moved to sac around the corner from here, and might I say this place is delicious! I ordered take out the yellow curry chicken with rice was absolutely delicious, we also ordered the chicken egg rolls and the drunken noodles and they were absolutely delicious ! The lady that took my order was extremely nice and patient, and when I picked my food up she was absolutely delightful, very nice and friendly. I have tried numerous items on the menu and have never been disappointed with my order. The service is excellent both waitresses are very friendly.
