This was quite the experience. I found this looking for the closest Thai place to Oak Park. We decided to go before a show but showing up at 4:30 pm on a Saturday, this place was completely deserted. It was nice to be able to look around the restaurant at leisure and enjoy the beautiful Thai decor and experience great service. The location is a bit awkward with the construction currently happening on Franklin, but hope that's temporary. They have a small parking lot in the front with a handful of spots. It looks like it has been there awhile. A Thai stronghold in a majority Latino neighborhood. Offerings: - Pad Kee Mow: very saucy, lots of meat and veggies. Good flavor overall but could have had that extra punch. Not as spicy as it looks either! - Pad Taew-Poo: Essentially a Pad Thai with crab and imitation crab instead of another protein. It was good. Again, very saucy and missing that special flavor. - Thai Tea: Same feelings. Good, but not great. It was missing that extra authentic flavor. The quantity was great. But it it was almost like they were afraid of the bold flavors that other Thai places pride themselves on. My theory for this place is that it is authentic for its time. When it opened, I don't imagine they had a lot of authentic ingredients and access to the homeland so these iterations of dishes are likely the best they could do. Also, considering the name is an old reference to Thailand. It also serves a mainly non-Thai audience, so no one is really policing the flavor or technique. I'm definitely not a Thai expert but I do feel like the flavors here were very simple, palatable - almost like a Thai-American hybrid. Having tasted more modern Thai cuisine like Kin Thai, I think I personally prefer those places. Purely conjecture, but I'm curious to know what the case is.

Siam Thai Restaurant serves some of the best Thai food in Sacramento. Although the ownership has changed a few times over the years I've been going, one thing has stayed consistent. They offer quality Thai dishes at reasonable prices. I've tried a good portion of the menu, but for first-time visitors I would recommend to start with the classics like drunken noodles, your curry of choice, and the larb (minced meat with herbs and spices). The dishes are prepared authentically and service is solid. If you want something a bit unique but still familiar, try their angel wing, stuffed chicken wings. Give Siam Thai a try if you're in the area and craving authentic Thai food!

I've only been here once and I'd like to come back to try some more food. The restaurant is clean and the staff are nice. The food is very tasty, we got yellow curry, rice, pad Thai, and Thai teas. The pad Thai was probably my favorite thing we tried.

Broth and flavor was good but there wasn't enough protein. That was literally 1 small meatball sliced in half with 4-5 small slices of steak

I liked the presentation and portion sizes. Parking was a bit of a nightmare and it's easy to pass by the place. Service was quick despite us having a large party. Food was also good :)

Just come. Amazing Pad Thai and Singha. very nice customer service and clean environment.

When you ask for hot, they give you hot

This is my new fave go to for Thai food. Why? Their red curry never disappoints. And when you ask for hot, they give you hot. It's not watered down or dumbed down on the spice. And this is the only place I know that serves decent Thai angel wings. Yes, I've had better but, the curry and spice level keeps me coming back for more! Pad Thai is good, too! Only complaint is, the price versus quantity. Tiny cubes of tofu. Only a few pieces of shrimp.

Ordered: papaya salad (thai), chili chicken, pad thai, drunken noodles, panang curry, and tum yum. The total was $73 and change. First, the prices are fair (ordered chicken dishes and 1 seafood dish), so if you're looking for affordable, then come here. The only seafood dish I got was the tum yum. Thai food should be a balance of sweet, sour, and salty. The dishes were all too sweet for me and my husband. Panang curry was watery and again on the sweet side. Where are the peanut undertones along with the curry flavor. I taste basil and a lot of sugar. Also, lots of green beans needs more meat. Drunken noodles were good, but where were all the noodles. It was hard to find. They were broken up and a little mushy. Papaya salad was perfectly spiced for medium but again so sweet. Chili chicken was okay. Tum yum was again sweet and was barely sour. So disappointing. Was missing the tamarind and lime. The pad thai was the highlightlight. Good, but where is the side of peanut and bean sprouts that usually accompany it. I rated 3 stars because the food was 1 tone and lacking the flavors I'd expect from a Thai place. Customer service was good. The food was ready at the time of pick up.

Thai time Owner and…read moreRecipe Wizard Thammasorn Lau has created something that feels less like a restaurant and more like being welcomed into someone's home -- assuming that someone's home happens to have amazing Thai chefs, incredible spices, and food that makes you immediately start planning your next visit before you're even done eating. We did our best "research project" and ordered everything our table could justify: Thai iced coffee, coconut canopy salad, pad see ew and pad Thai with pork belly, sunset curry with tilapia, and mango sticky rice with ice cream. For science, obviously. Thai Time should put a warning label on their Thai iced coffee. One sip through each layer and the conversation stopped. We woke up. The taste buds clocked in for work. The brain sent out the announcement: "Cancel all distractions -- apparently dinner has plans for us." Good thing we listened. Thammasorn then proceeded to take us on a full Thai flavor adventure. This wasn't just dinner. This was a carefully organized attack on our ability to say, "No thanks, I'm full." The coconut canopy salad started fresh and bright, the noodles brought the comfort, the pork belly brought the celebration, the sunset curry with tilapia brought the "wait, everyone try this" moment. And the mango sticky rice with ice cream showed up at the end like a victory parade. I always read the bad reviews because I'm fascinated by the rare human ability to find sadness while surrounded by curry, noodles, and people being nice to you. They are to be safely ignored. Our experience? Five stars out of 10. Beautiful flavors, warm service, and that special energy you only get when the people behind a place actually care. Thank you, Thammasorn and Thai Time. Sacramento is lucky to have you.

I'm not sure if management or chef has changed but their food is not what I remembered from years ago. We initially ordered their tofu pad thai and gai yang and immediately noticed how pricey their menu was. They have a wall of specials and I remember being shocked that their orange chicken was $24. I didn't mind paying more than what I was used to for my pad thai because I remembered their food was delicious but I was shocked when my pad thai came out. It was literally drowned in sauce and looked like it was a bowl of noodle soup. I was still optimistic hoping that it tasted better than it looked but it just tasted like sweet rice noodle soup. I was hesitant to bring it up to the waitress after two bites but so glad I did because I would have hated myself if I left without saying anything. The waitress was kind and offered to remake the dish. Instead, I opted for something else because I was afraid to be disappointed again. I ordered their tofu drunken noodles since I've gotten it here before and remember it being tasty. I confirmed that the drunken noodle was going to be a dry noodle dish and thankfully it was. It was good but not the best I've ever had. My boyfriend had their gai yang which is a marinated grilled chicken dish. He said it was pretty dry without the sauce on the side but the sweet chili sauce provided was pretty tasty. It's probably not worth $26 given the how dry the chicken was and he said he would never order it again. Overall, the customer service was great and portions were good. I had to deduct 3 stars from my previous review as the food quality has significantly gone down in my experience and doesn't justify the high menu prices in my opinion.

The location was a bit odd, as there were barely any other businesses nearby. There is street parking that you can pay for. It's a fairly small restaurant. We were were seated pretty quickly. We opted for mild spice on this. I would order this again. -Chicken pad thai: Done very well! Some places the pad thai is too sweet, but this one was very balanced and had a good tamarind flavor. Medium spicy was a bit on the spicy side, but perfect for me! Would order this again. -Duck larb: Unique, but I couldn't tell it was duck. My partner enjoyed this more than I did. The portion for the larb was on the smaller side and it came with some lettuce, radish, carrots, cucumbers. -Mee kati ground pork: A very unique dish that not many Thai restaurants seem to have, in which it came with noodles, and a variety of toppings like beans sprouts, lettuce, green beans, peanuts, and cilantro. It came with a fermented curry gravy, and it delicious! I would totally order this again. -Green Thai tea: Quite fragrant and not too full on half and half like some other places have it. It's also not as sweet as another local Thai restaurant. I would actually order this again. -Classic Thai tea: Strong Thai tea flavor, also not too sweet. Everything else sat somewhere in the middle Parking? Lot We had: Chicken Satay (4/5): Flavor wise, this was locked in. One of the better peanut sauces I've had. Nutty, slightly sweet, with enough depth to keep it interesting. The problem was execution. It came out lukewarm, which dulled the whole experience and made it feel less fresh than it should have. Also could've used more sauce. Still good, just not quite dialed Green Curry (2.5/5): This one just didn't show up. The flavors felt muted and never really came together.
