A friend of mine had invited me for brunch on a Saturday afternoon. At first when my friend mentioned it to me, he stated this was a pop up brunch. Unsure what that meant, I went along with it. But as we walked there with him and his wife, we stopped at a loft in downtown LA. I asked him if he was certain it was at a loft, he said yes its a pop up brunch. Supposedly this is quite common in the east coast, where people set up a temporary eatery. The brunch was on the rooftop of the lofts, quite a view and change from the ground floor. It was nice being away from the hectic crowds and raucous. It has a personal feel to it, there were tables and chairs set up. Nothing too fancy but good enough to enjoy a meal. I ordered the grits with banana fosters and pancake. It was quite good, what a awesome combination, this might have been the first for me trying grits. My friend and his wife ordered a variation of egg Benedict, both also enjoyed it. Overall a great experience, look forward to the next pop up.

They advise against parking outside of the lot as it is a sketchy area and literally homeless encampments surrounding the outside. I'm pretty brave and tried walking around back to see if there was a different entrance to Ixta and it was scary. This was during daylight hours at 6 p.m. Anyway, not much here to look at, parking lot is small but manageable and the Slow Jamz Art Gallery is an entire vibe. I've been here four times already in the last three months.

I had heard good things about them and finally got to give them a go last week. Their breakfast burritos are so fire and a must get. The Pastrami Burrito is $19 and had a generous protein portion, eggs, white cheddar cheese, tater tots and their special spread on it. If you get the Bacon Burrito, it's maple glazed bacon with avocado. Absolutely love their breakfast burritos beyond belief. The Bacon sandwich ($16.50) was also very solid but I'm pretty devoted to those burritos now. I suggest adding their Dream Sauce ($2) if you like a spicy kick. It will come on the side so you can use as much as you need and it's fermented Calabrian pepper hot sauce ~ fire! I absolutely will be getting Breakfast Dreams every time I'm at Smorgasburg!

I've tried various types of their cool creations, but this past weekend I just went with the cold brew black. The coffee hits just right and is packed full of ice - perfect for browsing while walking around the outdoor Sunday market. I ended up just getting a traditional cappuccino with oat milk cause I didn't really want a bunch of sugar. Lovely latte art and the coffee was perfect, IMO. A+! The woman I spoke to and ordered from was also super helpful when my mom asked if she could find out if one of the drinks had a lot of sugar in it. She went the extra mile there and was so nice about it. I will definitely be back for the good coffee and service. They have a drink that looks like the space coffee from Disneyland so I'm definitely going to try that next time! I enjoyed sipping my Whole & Oat coffee while perusing all the various booths. Thanks!
