The chips were cooked in house fresh and the queso was thick and very good. White cheese. Kat our waitress was awesome. Oh my goodness what a great date spot! Patio seating is so nice in the gorgeous spring evenings. The food was very good and fresh the sear on the steak was really good especially for a rare steak lover! The service was ok, and could use a little more attention to details. Arrived on a Tuesday night passing through around 6:30 pm. Place was a little busy. I sat at the bar as I was alone. Waitress was very attentive. Place is super cool. Nice bar plus they serve Starbucks coffee. TVs over the bar played various sports and compilation videos. Took about 10 minutes for my chophouse burger to be ready. It was very good. It could have had a little more brisket but I'm not complaining. Made it out for $25 bucks. I'd stop here again. read more

I use to love this place. Anytime someone came to town. I would bring them there. But they changed the best ever onion rings to the worst ever.They were all cornmealy. Just gross. couldn't even eat them. And the French Dip sandwich had half the meat it use to. Sadly to say I won't be going back. Thank goodness that the Green Frog opened back up. This is the best place in Jacksboro by far. The food and drinks are always amazing. The staff are so sweet and accommodating. The alligator is my favorite appetizer, super tender and flavorful. My favorite entree is a chicken Caesar wrap with fried chicken. I also love their specials, the pork chop with potatoes and broccoli cheese rice is a 10/10! They also have Starbucks coffee here and make great drinks! You must stop here if in the area. read more

The best restaurant in Jacksboro hands down. Great food every time I come in here. I haven't had a bad thing on the menu and I've been a couple times now. Here's a trick and I recommend everyone try it. Order the Chips & Queso and then ask for a side of their Mango Habanero Sauce. Mix the sauce in the queso. You now have Mango Habanero Queso and it's the greatest thing ever, I promise you! Try it and you won't be disappointed. read more

Sorry hit our waitress at the bar had no interest in waiting on us. Straight up 11'oclock and not that busy but still had to go to the bar to get our own refills on water and tea. Waitresses were nice but not attentive in any way shape or form. Food came out about 2 minutes before I was fixing to cancel the order. 35 minute ticket time on a BLT. NOT GOOD. Especially during a mid week, non-rush time. Left zero for a tip. Didn't know if it was a kitchen team issue but waiting that long for a BLT sandwich caused the waitress/bartender to get absolutely nothing. Management needs to address customer attentive issues with staff and put out a decent product in a tiny manner. read more

My wife and I had dinner tonight when we saw they had prime steaks. My wife had the salmon which she said was ok. I ordered the New York strip steak medium rare. The steak was cooked perfect but if the are paying for prime they are getting ripped off. The steak was so tough I struggled to eat it. The highlight of the meal was the salad bar and it was really small. The server did know if they had baked potatoes or what the vegetables were. I only gave it 2 stars because of the salad bar. read more

Excellent food, but horrible service. Waitress too occupied chatting with friends, than taking care of customers. With only two customers in bar area, after waiting 20 minutes, we had to pull waitress away from friends to order a drink, then another 15 minutes for our waitress to bring to us. We received full dinners in half the time to get a drink. We will be back because the food was delicious, just hope the staff is better trained in customer service. read more

This place is a great place to eat when you come to Jacksboro. I have been dining in this town for 5 years and tonight was a first for my husband and I to eat here . Very reasonable and clean. I would give the place a higher star but the damn door to the patio is horrible if you set inside. The constant slamming is disconcerting and annoying as hell. Maybe something for the acoustics in that room as well. We will be back but we won't sit in the dining room unless the door gets fixed. read more

I ordered the chicken fried chicken - it was a perfectly round frozen chicken patty resembling something I I would get at McDonalds ...ugh! Not impressed for the price tag. Vegetable of the day was asparagus & I was told that was the only vegetable option (as we were checking out, they offered the guy next to us broccoli!! Same bartender!) ... boyfriend ordered the trio appetizer with brisket nachos, boneless wings, & regular wings. The brisket was dry, but the wings were fine. Was out for a countryside Sunday drive and discovered this place! Beautifully restored historic building that is a restaurant downstairs and a B&B upstairs. We ordered the Chicken Fried Steak with veggies and sweet potato fries. It was exceptional. Good thick cutlet with no shrinkage during cooking. Not too heavily breaded. It did hold just a touch too much of the oil but would still recommend! I thoroughly enjoyed it. A trip to the salad bar was also included in the meal and I took points off due to it being pretty much depleted and it was only 2pm. A bit about the place: beautiful outdoor area with courtyard, stage for a band (music venue), outdoor seating. They do have weekend local musicians scheduled and Shiner Bock on draft! Great place for a gathering, party, or even a small wedding. Will definitely be back and have to try a steak. The owner says his steaks are USDA Prime and he's knowledgeable about the greater DFW area steakhouses. They also have a Starbucks inside with most drink options available. I am looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu and hopefully hear a live band play. read more

My Mom & I were looking for a nice lunch spot to eat last Sunday. We met in Jacksboro since it's the halfway point for both of us. We called and they said they had indoor seating, they would have a table for us. We love old buildings and architecture so we fell in love with JR's the moment we drove up. They have two indoor sections and one outside, we were seated in the coffee shop part. So Beautifully cared for inside & out! Great place to sit and have a bite. We both had salads & they were amazing! Mom had the Crispy chicken salad & I had the Caesar salad. Reg. portions, taste wonderful & prompt service. It was a little pricey, but worth it. The food, atmosphere & staff were all great! They seem to specialize in steaks, but we just wanted salads. read more

So much potential, but not with current management. I was so looking forward to my stay, and reserved the Swan Room. As they are closed on Monday, when I was to arrive, I had to prepay for the room and they would leave the key in the door for me. Not a problem, it's secured outside and I had the gate code...however, when I arrived, someone else had taken my room. I called the after hours number and was told they would send someone to take care of me. When the young lady arrived, she apologized, but rather than contacting the person that was occupying my (prepaid) room and letting him know of the mix up and moving us to the correct rooms (he had only just arrived as well and put his bags in the room and left), she told me I'd have to pick another room to stay in for the night. She said they would make it right. Not happy, but I truly thought they would handle their customer service appropriately. The room I stayed in was nice, but they could spend more time cleaning-especially dusting. The next morning I went downstairs for my breakfast, which was also included in my stay. There was only one girl working the counter. This is also a coffee shop, so was fairly busy. After waiting awhile at my seat, I determined I would have to go to the counter to order, as she was waiting on the walk in traffic, but not me. I placed my order with her and went back to my table. 20 minutes later-I kid you not!-she turned in my order. It took an full hour just to get my breakfast plate. (2 eggs, bacon and bread-nothing fancy that would take time) The eggs were ordered over easy, came out just barely over medium-closer to hard. The girl brought my plate over and turned to walk away. I said, "Excuse me, do I get anything to drink with this?" She took my coffee order and proceeded to make it wrong...twice. I gave up, loaded my bags and left. I had to call repeatedly to get my credit handled. They ended up charging me full price for the second room and adjusted off my original room rate...a whopping $16! This is a great concept, and the rooms are nice....just please get it together! A complete disappointment that turned to total frustration. This is not how hospitality is meant to be!! read more

Two stars only because the bed was very comfortable and the room and place was nice. But we were greeted by an employee who let us in and a quick 2 minute tour before he was gone. Usually there is water available at B & B's and there was only a keurig with one option of cup. On a cold winters day a hot shower would be ideal and the water doesn't get much warmer than Luke warm. Also the bistro doesn't have any hot food just breakfast breads (not baked daily) and Starbucks coffee which was the only nice thing about the offered breakfast. But they do give vouchers for the Village Kitchen which is an excellent place with wonderful people. As for the B&B, I probably wouldn't recommend it to a friend and wouldn't stay again.
