Ordered the "award winning" clam chowder, the pot pie and the pork chop. I'm not sure which awards it's won, but every slurp of the hot, creamy chowder was absolutely delicious and boasted a respectable amount of clam. The pot pie was large and hearty, with generous hunks of tender, white-meat chicken mingling with a colorful medley of veggies in a dense, gravy-like broth. Its golden, buttery crust was smooth, shimmering, thick and flaky, and crept over the sides of the bowl like a proper pot-top. One whack of my spoon cracked that beautiful crust open, unleashing ribbons of aromatic steam. The cranberry relish served alongside it was the perfect foil to balance the pie's rich and savory goodness with a touch of sweet, subtly tart coolness. The pork chop was fat (but not fatty), juicy and grilled to perfection, with just enough glaze to compliment its flavor without overwhelming it. Come to think of it, the cranberry relish may very well have been meant for the pork chop. Regardless, it didn't need it. The restaurant's ambiance is unpretentious and convivial. Drinks were tasty but not much liquor. Ribeyes were perfectly cooked but smothered in mushroom sauce to hide the fact that it wasn't very flavorful. Service was great and one of the few places in Gorham to have a quiet drink. read more

I love J's!. Great atmosphere for a bar/ restaurant. If you want to sit near the hustle and bustle of a bar you have that option but they also have a great dining room if your looking form something quieter. I have tried almost everything on their menu and have only been let down a couple of times. The Reuben is definitely one of my favorites for lunch however the grilled Vegetable sandwich is also very good. For dinner i always have a hard time deciding from cheddar and broccoli stuffed chicken, chicken Parmesan, or a fabulous vegetable ravioli. Their steak tips have never let me down! On a Santa's Village vacation and staying down the street. We have gone three straight nights to J's and each night it has been excellent. First night I had the Shrimp Milano, second night Broiled Scallops and the third a burger off the specials Menu. All excellent. Good beer selection, good service. Accommodating to special requests. Ask for the bread. Nice warm loaf with whipped butter. They're basically the only game in town but they serve food like there's competition next door. read more

I have to say the service here is wonderful. The first time we came I wasn't crazy about my meal and I didn't say anything but the waiter could tell and took it off our bill. We were driving through New Hampshire and decided to have a late dinner. There were 5 in our party and we all ordered different things on the menu from sandwiches to full dinners. All the meals came out together and in a timely manner. The clam chowder was delicious and loaded with clams. The burger was made to perfection. My new burger joint for the Berlin/Gorham area. I am limited on best food to try. I like burgers and they are very good. Fries are some of the best that I have ever had. My wife has had wraps and BLT's and says they were average. The lounge is open with a very casual feeling. The waitress's were friendly and funny, which I look for in every restaurant. If you enjoy over salted, otherwise tasteless straight from the can food, this the place for you. The pork chop was flavorless, green beans were mush and the garlic potatoes slimy. Our server spent more time hanging at the bar than taking care of customers. With the abundance of good local produce nearby this is a travesty. You know you're in trouble when Swanson's makes a better pot pie. Save your money and go to Macdonald's. The food is better than this Sysco outlet. read more

A friend of mine and I went to lunch here 3-10-14, Monday Lunch, we ordered a cup of clam chowder, it had a funny taste, then stuffed mushroom caps, they were not baked they were microwaved half of them were hot and the other half were lukewarm, We both ordered the southwest chicken salad, the chicken had no taste and didn't seem cooked enough, the dressing was sour cream and salsa, the cucumbers were see through, leading me to believe they were frozen but they used them anyway, Our waitress never came over to check if our food was ok. And when she asked if we wanted to wrap it up I told her it was terrible, She never apologized for the terrible food, Maybe she should quit her day job, she doesn't seem to happy with it, they took the salads off the bill, I wouldn't feed it to my dog,,,We will never return to this place. read more

Wonderful restaurant/lounge with fast friendly service. wide selection on the menu - appetizers, salads, soups, sammys, dinner entrees, and desert. Also have good selection of beer, wine and a full bar. Prices are pretty reasonable. I tried the buffalo chicken wrap and DW had the bacon cheeseburger. Both were very good. I ordered take out of a haddock fish sandwich, hand cut fries and coleslaw. The fish was lightly breaded and a generous size. The bread was more carbs than I needed. The coleslaw was fresh but the taste did not encourage me to finish it. I recommend the fish sandwich and the fries. I would pass on the coleslaw. read more

I'd try to find somewhere else to eat. I had a super-bland ceasar with salmon that was definitely past it's 'best by' date. Dave's ribeye was OK, it was pretty thin and half was cooked correctly and half was overcooked. After stopping at a couple of places previously which weren't too appetizing looking, we came upon J's and ventured in. As it was mid-afternoon the restaurant was virtually empty, which always makes me nervous. However, it was a perfect stop for us after a day of leaf peeping before heading home. We wound up with the Thanksgiving turkey sandwiches which came with a plethora of fries and coleslaw. The sandwich was enormous so the other half went home for lunch the next day. The only suggestion I might have is that that sandwich really needed a dab of cranberry sauce, either on the side or in the sandwich. My boyfriend had a beer, I, coffee and the bill came to around 26 dollars. With tip, a little over 30. Not bad for a generous lunch for two. Oh, and the waitress and hostess were lovely and efficient. If I ever wind up in the Berlin area again, this is the stop! read more

Appetizers are similar to other eateries, but they have their own little kick that makes them special. Fun atmosphere that I know I can comfortably bring my children into. We were directed here by a nearby hotel. We ate lunch and came back for dinner. The clam chowder was loaded with seafood. I had calamari at dinner... Not sure I've ever had better!.... Lightly breaded and tender. Would definitely recommend. read more
