Pete is owner and mechanic very honest man. I had a check light with misfire codes showing up on my 2006 VW Passat turbo. He troubleshooted the issue and found the ignition connectors were bad. He replace all four checked the spark plugs and ignition module and fix the misfire. Really good shop and reasonable price. I have several other code which I plan to come back. I have been dealing with JSV for over20 years. I have taken my Cadillac, Toyotas, Hondas, Oldsmobile, and Corvette to him. I can honestly say he is the only mechanic that I would recommend to single women. He will not overprice you nor replace things that do not need it. He has even told me how to fix some things myself. I have been at his shop a couple of times when mechanics from other local shops have come by to get him to help them. It is not a fancy shop but he maintains the state of the art equipment and factory software for about any auto I have. I have personally seen a Delorean, all of the German cars, Porsches old and late models and of course, all types and years of American manufactured cars. He even repaired my friends Volvo which I personally would not own. Honest Christian family man who I'm very pleased to have been recommended to me 20 years ago. If you plan on dropping your car off late (like after work) I would call him and tell him because if he does not have a drop-off and is ahead of schedule I will take the opportunity to close around 4 pm so he can spend more time with his family. If you use his service you will never be sorry. You will find as I have that you can recommend him to anyone and be sure he will do right by them. He will tell you when you can use aftermarket parts and when you should stay with a particular manufacture's part because they work much better. I have scheduled my Honda Fit for the tire pressure sensor replacement I will save over $300 on replacing all four. I could only replace the ones that are bad but that part has a history of failing in about 5 or 6 years. It is a battery issue but the complete assembly has to be replaced so I have elected to get them all done rather than do it one at a time. read more

I had an ROYAL PROBLEM with my 2004 Rolls Royce Phantom no one could help me diagnose no start problem with my car. Pierre, the mechanic there sucks. He is also the owner, but is very unprofessional. I took my 2013 BMW X3 to him and from the beginning he was telling me that it can be a electrical module and expensive fix without properly checking the car. He said he was gonna charge me $100 dlls to diagnose the car, which I accepted. So I left the car to him and within 40 minutes he calls me and says what amps is my battery and I said I don't know from the top of my head but to feel free and check for himself since the car was there with him. Well he refused, saying that if he did that it would too much of a hassle for him and the 100 dlls charge was too little. I live 2 blocks away, so I called my wife to head over to the mechanic shop and to take a picture of the battery amps and show it to the mechanic. My wife then left and within 20 minutes the mechanic calls me back and says for me to go pickup my car. I said "Why" what happened he said he can't work on my car. And that he wasn't gonna charge me for my car being there. I have been coming to JSV for years. Pete is the owner here and he has treated my family very well. He is honest and his prices are fair. Pete topped my fluids off for my van when I had taken it to ANOTHER oil change shop and they neglected to finish my oil change (long story, THEY will be reviewed next!!) He did this for FREE because I am a loyal customer. He replaced the engine for my '99 Sienna minivan last Spring (2010) and he searched all over san diego to get the best engine for the best price with the lowest miles. He changed my friend's tire once when she was driving me to pick up my van and we hit a nail. He didn't charge us. So, obviously Pete doesn't just hand out freebies. He has a family he needs to support, a business to run. However, If you are a loyal customer to him, he reciprocates. He is a good person. Before I went to Pete, I had been screwed over several times by mechanics who saw me as an ignorant woman (well, when it comes to cars, i am pretty ignorant!) My husband and I have been taking our cars to Pete for many years, ever since 2 of our friends recommended him. We are both in our 60's and been driving for a while now. We can both say he is the fairest, most honest and reasonable mechanic that's ever touched any of our cars, ever. He also really goes out of his way to accomodate us, and to get the repairs done quickly. Our cars are older, and sometimes he needs to order the parts, but the work still gets done in time. I recently had a new headliner put in at Bernie's Auto Upholstery, and they managed to jam the ignition and render the car unstartable. Pete took it upon himself to have my car put on a tow-truck and towed to his garage, fixing the ignition and steering column in only 1 day!!! And, he billed Bernie's, the responsible party. He didn't have to do any of that, but that's the kind of service you get from a quality person like Pete. His business doesn't look all fancy and remodeled, but we, the customers, aren't paying for all of that overhead, either. It is so hard to find good, reputable and fair mechanics nowadays. Took my 2003 Honda to Pete a after having it at another shop 3 different times and the previous shop couldn't figure out why the car continues to over heat. Previous shop replaced the radiator and the thermostat and it still over heated. They wanted me to spend 1000+ to replace the head gasket even though they weren't "sure" that was the problem. So my brother recommended JSV auto. Took the car there, and after a few days they found it was a faulty thermostat. Pete replaced that thermostat with a Honda thermostat and the problem was solved!! He insisted that we drive it over the weekend before he would take payment. I paid him, after driving the car and no problems at all. The cost was less than the first shop. Very reasonable and reliable. I will never take my car anywhere else. This shop has earned my business for life!! read more

It's taken me years to find a good mechanic around San Diego but I will never bring my vehicles anywhere other than right here. As someone who does a bit of wrenching on my own, I know when I am getting the runaround and way overcharged. Pierre is the most honest mechanic I've ever met, he showed me the error codes on his scanner and even offered some priceless trouble shooting advice for free. He is extremely knowledgeable on higher end vehicles as well and has all the specialty tools. Recently my clutch went out in my bmw 530 and this local shop quoted me $2000. I was referred to JSV by a friend of mine who takes his cars there. I went there to have an aftermarket clutch line installed and to have my clutch fluid flushed and replaced on my 350z. The work was done quickly and I am more than satisfied with the quality of the work. They even switched over the heat shielding from my old clutch line on to the new one. Pete and the technician who worked on my car were courteous, friendly and knowledgeable. He charged me less than I thought it would cost to do the job.
