Not gonna lie from the looks alone it looked like this place might give me food poisoning but decided to give it a try anyway. The person at the counter seemed to hate her job and had a major attitude the whole time, made it a very unpleasant vibe.We ordered 3 soft tacos to share. I had one since I wasn't very hungry and my mom had 2. It was plenty because the tacos had generous portions of chicken. It tasted fresh. The food was okay but dry AF. All the pictures show you fat chunky meaty chicken parts however, when I put in my first order, I noticed that the thigh was literally smaller than my hand curved up in a fist. As I have very small, skinny, boney hands. As a matter of fact, the guy didn't even have any meat at all worth mentioning. The drumstick was worse. It was as long as my middle finger and it was sadly anorexic. It's hard to believe I only discovered Juan Pollo a couple months ago. To be honest, I grew up on El Pollo Loco because my dad loved a good deal, but since the pandemic, their quality has gone down and inconsistencies have gone up. Not at Juan Pollo... i'm a big fan of the ease of ordering online and how quick my food is ready. So far, I've tried their massive chicken burrito, which is enough for at least two meals. I also like their mini family pack which feeds 2 to 3 or their larger family pack, which feeds 6 to 7. Also all the sides are surprisingly delicious. Don't be fooled that the rice is boring or dry because the rice is extremely flavorful and has bits of chicken. Plus their potato salad slaps. Case in point I ordered a mini family mail just now, but made sure to get a large side of potato salad. I do recommend ordering for pick up because yes while they do have an indoor seating. It's a little bit more old-school if you know what I mean. There's a few booths but it just reminds you of the fast food or diner spots. You would frequent in the late 80s or early 90s. read more

I started eating at Juan Pollo when I worked at Ontario Airport. It's a local inland empire roasted chicken restaurant. I love that they've expanded into orange county so I can get my fix closer to home. A testament to how good it is, the restaurants are often busy even during off hours. Juan Pollo has the best chicken hands down. The half chicken meal is my regular order with flour tortillas, salsa, and 2 side dishes. Pro tip, get double potato salad for your sides. It's seriously the best potato salad that I have ever had. Honestly I would come to Juan Pollo for the potato salad alone. Fortunately their chicken is terrific as well. Order in English or Spanish at the counter and shortly thereafter your food will be ready. Eat in or take out. If you enjoy horchata or tamarind this is a place where you can indulge in these less commonly available drinks. Very casual place. Fast food service and prices but much better quality food. The salsa is fresh and delicious. The hot salsa can be pretty hot so use caution if you aren't up for spicy goodness. read more

I wanted to really love this place so bad! However there were just a few things I didn't really enjoy. When you walk in its a bit cluttered in the front. We waited a few minutes as there was no cashier in the front, which is okay... We ordered the juan pollo bowl and they were good. There was no salsa on the side, just pico de callo. The shredded chicken had bones in it and I think thats what kinda killed it for me. Its lovely to have to have shredded chicken but when you chew on a bone or several of them, it kind of makes you lose your appetite. Something to say about this place. They are normally always busy. The flavor and quality has not changed much with their chicken. The flavor, size and quality of chicken has remained the same for years. Prices have obviously increased, but at least they do not raise the price and skimp on everything. Well......frankly I do not think that although still good, the rice and potato salad do not have the taste great taste they once had. Not sure if they skimp on the ingredients, you know the herds and spices, but the consistency and size of their containers is the same, just flavor. The rice does not have chicken anymore, if it does, the amounts of chicken are smaller or gone. It was noticed the last couple of times we ordered it. Who knows maybe it was a fluke or the cook that forgot to add it. We continue to come to the joint and enjoy the chicken, potato salad and rice. Woah! First of all, I'm a huge fan of Juan Pollo. In fact I have ordered it for department birthday parties. My favorite is the potato salad! I get double potato salad every time! Today. October 3rd. My coworker and I went to the Juan Pollo in Santa Ana during lunch to pick up food for a few co workers. It was taking a while to get the food so we asked how much longer. I was told they were getting it together. I finally get the food. I leave since I only had 30min lunch. I get to work and eat the chicken which is delish. When I go to eat the potato salad it was disgusting. The taste was like when something is spoiled. We didn't eat it. My coworker called to let them know that the potato salad is no good. The employee told my coworker that she just tried it and it was fine. When my coworker told me what the person over the phone told her I said her response not ok. First of all if she's answering phones and handling money, why is she eating food while working? I called and spoke to the same person and I explained that her response was not ok. If other customers didn't say anything that's on them but it taste bad. I asked for the managers name. Jim then came on the phone and said he will test the food and that nobody else had said anything. I explain that 4 of us at work said the same thing about it when we tried it. He then said "Ok thank you for letting us know. I think it may be the green onion" That's it. No apology for the experience. No apology for the inconvenience. Nothing. I said "Well we paid for it and didn't eat it. The chicken was delicious as usual. You can at least offer to give us free potato salad." (Because that's my favorite!!! Just great food, nothing fancy. The chicken is marinated in a delectable citrus sauce; it's really good and even the white meat is moist. Two chicken specials Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but you'll want to order sides to go with it as the chicken specials come with tortillas and salsa only. The rice has chunks of chicken and vegetables in it; very savory. The pinto beans has a great smoked flavor and the potato salad is especially good. We just ordered tacos for dinner and while I was eating I bit into a bone. What if I had chipped my tooth or ended up choking on it? So I took out the bone and finished the taco. I started eating the other taco and once again I bit into a bone which was much smaller than the rest but still unacceptable. I will never eat from Juan Pollo again because if the cooks can't shred chicken with more care for the sake of customers, I can't hand over my hard earned money. Great and affordable grab and go meal last night. On recommendation from my father in law who frequents this place often it was a flavorful and juicy all the way through. Got rice, beans and potato salad as our sides they all had great flavor and were the right accompaniment to the chicken and those flour tortillas also had great flavor and that's coming from someone who could usually careless about a tortilla. This location on Memory lane and Bristol avoid , owner is so cheap that there's no refills on the fountain drink and only give you one sauce after spending 19$ . Only place I know that doesn't give you refills on Fountian drinks and you can only pay for 1 refill and than you have to buy another drink.
