This is the second time I've eaten here. Today I called in an order for lunch. It was ready when I arrived. And hot I should add. I got the macho Grande burger. And let me tell you, that thing was massive! And a pile of fries along with it. The burger was good! Nice and juicy. I ate it without the bun. Due to my low carb diet and shear size of it. I had a few of the fries. They appeared to have a season salt on them, maybe a Johnny's or something along those lines. Definitely worth the $13! read more

The food is mediocre, and priced accordingly, service sucks, plastic utensils, you must request refills of chips/salsa/water. Extremely slow service. Alcoholic beverages are watered down, and then Juan will question you if you want more than two drinks! If I wanted a sponsor, I'd go to a meeting! Juan is rude and condescending! Go somewhere else! The problem here at Juan's--like so many Nevada Restaurants--is a daily lack of consistency. Juan's is a sort of a weak kneed and usually a slow motion stab at Mexican food by a local restauranteur...The chow is usually decent, the salsa great, but the portions are shrinking in size, while prices have been raised greatly...This restaurant's location is inside the Comstock Casino on Goni in Carson City... Juan's other locations in Carson City at the Horseshoe Club (and at The Pour House) went belly up over a year ago...The Juan's staff is not always friendly, (the petulant older lady server needs to retire)...The staff sometimes has a poor attitude, they are either friendly or a bit sullen, and we found an earlier reviewer's points below to still be 100% true today-3 years later... The writer's De Caf Coffee request ? What is amazing is the Comstock Casino has FREE decaf about 50 feet from the front glass counter at Juan's...You would think Juan's employees would know that de caf coffee is nearby...Which makes one think they are possibly a bit lazy, or simply don't care about properly running a restaurant...On a positive note, Juan's makes great tasting salsa...when they don't run out... Very good place to eat. I've always enjoyed them while they were in Mo & Sluggos and also in the Horseshoe club (not at either location now). The location on Goni is very good as well. Consistantly good. If eating here at lunch and are on an hour lunch I would recomend ordering ahead of time. I have had to rush eating to make it back to work within an hour. They get very busy during lunch and it take a while for the food to come out after you order. Other than that, great food. Always good, never a complaint from me or the people I've been there with. read more

Breakfast on the weekends is when we usually go. This week we decided to go out for fish tacos. Service by is so so, and a wee bit aggressive. The margarita was like the mix you get from Costco, a color not found in nature. Although the food was good, when you got it. There was plenty of it! read more

Will not be returning to this place. We came here couple Sunday's ago and were very disappointed. I ordered a simple omelette that came out extremely overdone. My mom ordered bacon and eggs. She asked for her eggs just whites only done over hard. The waitress looked very confused and ran to the kitchen to see if that was even possible....I promise it is....you fry it like you would any other egg just only the whites. She came back to tell us that the "chef" does not do that in this restaurant....uhmm WHAT?!! Bring me the damn pan and I will do it for him! That is ridiculous if you have eggs then you should be able to accommodate your guests request. The only thing I can think of is the "chef" did not have the skills to prepare some simple egg whites....some chef huh? Will not be back pricey and not good food at all. I really used to enjoy eating here. The last time I went in ruined it for me. Our server, who said he was Juan's son, berated us for not pronouncing the dishes correctly when ordering (sorry, I'm a white girl from Idaho). He made the whole table so uncomfortable that we really should have left right then. Unfortunately, we didn't. Surely don't understand the negative reviews....stumbled in....and found a GEM ....CLEAN AND NEAT.....FANTASTIC MARGARITA....HOSTESS and waitress, Hayley could not have been nicer or more accommodating...from the complementary salsa and chips it just got better.....both dishes we ordered were authentic and delicious.....I am a critical customer and this dining experience was stellar !!!! read more

This restaurant is great! The staff is great and always friendly! This is a father son operation so it has a family feel. The food is great an authentic but not to spicy so I can bring my mom and grandma to this place for dinner! I highly recommend you try this place! read more

Juan's is incredible. I grew up in Southern California. We had incredible Mexican food there. After I left I could never get a good taco anywhere. Then I came to Juan's. Their crispy beef tacos are to die for. Absolutely delicious. They have the best chips and salsa that I've found in Carson or Reno. Their hamburgers are insane. Trust me you won't regret eating here. Good food from a family operation in a casino. Rellanos are very tasty as are the fajitas. Even had raw oysters here once compliments of Juan himself. They were huge, fresh and wifey and I thoroughly enjoyed the pampering. What I do not like is the cigarette smoke drifting in from the gaming area. Good thing the food is worth it. read more

Juan's is amazing!!! Tuesday and Thursday Taco night is awesome!!! The issues we have for the last three to four times is ... April the blonde waitress ... she is more interested in "paying attention" to her male customers rather then her table of three to four ladies. April in case you do not get this ... Ladies tip just as good and we tip BETTER. Sorry to say we are going to put off coming in for a while and hopefully we will get either Juan or Bailey these two know exactly how to earn an above average tip ... Just about the best place to get taco's on tuesday and thursday nights. I usually always bet two beef and two chicken. The food is good during the day but at night you get less food and a attitude from the owner that comes on at night. He is always in a bad mood. If you ask for a drink re fill he glares at you and says yes, then walks into the kitchen and dosen't do it. He dose not come around and ask us , so we have to ask. If you ask for x chips he charges $1.50 on your bill and dosen't tell you. He makes you feel like you are bothering him when he has to take your order. My family has been coming there for years because we live close by. But now it is less and less, and now we only come because of the coupon.There was a mistake on my order last time I went and I told him and he got very angry and argued with me then went into the kitchen yelling something in Spanish. The customers close to the kitchen understood Spanish and told us what he said. He dosen't like white people and called us fat. He is big him self, so not sure why. We stopped tipping this man months ago and now he hides in the kitchen and makes us wait to come take our order. He has more of a attitude now since we don't tip him, but the others we do.This is a very mean man, so go during the day if you want to be treated right and get the amount of food you pay for. I love this place. The food is amazing and the staff are very friendly. It is a family owned and operated restaurant, and they do a phenomenal job making you feel welcome. The menu is very diverse and there is something for everyone. The prices are very fair for what you get. I have been here about 7 times now. I have always had good service and the food is consistently good. The salsa is the best I have had in Carson. It is on the spicy side though. I did notice that the chip bowl was placed back in with the clean bowls to be reused, which is pretty gross for the next person. Especially if you have a kid that licks the salt out of the bowl like mine does. I knocked off one star for this. read more

We [were] regulars because we frequent the Comstock Casino. Today, July 20th, we ordered the special with drinks - beef taco, cheese enchilada, beans, rice and soup. Juan took the order, Junior took over, and we never received the soup. After checking the special menu twice, told Junior we never received the soup. He stated "that he wanted to provide excellent customer service", so offered the soup (after we had eaten) to-go, which we declined. Then he offered a salad (again, we had already finished our meal). Then he offered a dessert (THIS is where the trouble begain). He offered several things, then came back and offered more. We finally agreed on an ice cream sundae and a piece of cheesecake (which he showed us on his cell phone - what a lovely presentation!). Juan brought the bill. Junior collected the money - I was billed for the lovely cheesecake - when I asked why - his response was that his father took off one of the dessert's, but wouldn't take off two!!!!!!! Bottom line - Didn't get what I paid for and paid more!!!!!!!! Won't go back again. read more
