I really love this place, it's my favorite cafe. But there are moments when service can be painfully slow just to place an order.

I've been here three times. Twice for work meetings. Once because I was in the area. Their coffee is overall too bitter or burnt. Service is terrible for such a small place. I ordered a blueberry muffin and was told it's be brought out to my table. I sat for 30 minutes and waited while the person who told me they'd bring me the muffin stared out the window. I was going to go up and ask but it shouldn't be my job to ask for what was promised. So I'll just forget the $4.39 I paid for absolutely nothing and never go back. Nor will I encourage anyone else to do the same. Global Village is not even a block away and worlds beyond this place. Jubala is too trendy to care about customers it seems. read more

A good first experience at Jubala. It was a dreary Sunday Morning when I made the executive decision to try this place out over the abundance of local coffee shop options in beautiful downtown Raleigh. I grabbed my keys and shoes and walked out the door not knowing the wonder that lay ahead of me that day. The latte was perfect, not too bold nor sweet, and the bacon egg cheese biscuit was well worth the trip alone. I've been to many a coffee stop and can say with certainty that this competes with some of the best I've been to. I will return in less than a fortnight. The end. read more

Love coming here for a light lunch and to study. It is a little loud and there is a lot of movement with people coming in on the weekends for their biscuits. But I love the ambiance and always find parking behind. I like their sandwiches but didn't love their waffles and the recommended oatmeal cookie was a bit sweet for me as well. read more

Jubala Coffee is a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee, a sandwich, or one of their delicious biscuits. It is also a great place to study if you need a break from the library. The baristas are very friendly and accommodating. The coffee shop was full of people and one of the baristas took the time to find a stool for me so that I could sit at the bar and study before my next class. read more

I love Jubala but the customer service here is very poor. They take 15 minutes to make one to go drink and leave customers standing around for much longer than is necessary. I understand the need to prioritize customers that are eating "for here" but we who are choosing to take our coffee away are in a rush too. read more

I love jubala! I go there a lot. Best coffee in town, killer biscuits, a great pimento cheese sandwich (put some avacado on that thing!), and all of the baristas are really friendly and cool. Also scrumptious baked goods. read more

Yum this is some of the best coffee I've ever had in my life. Awesome baristas with great character and talent. I got a latte with almond milk which was very tasty. Additionally my friend got a chai tea latte, which let me tell you was the best chai I've ever had in my life. It's not as sugary as other places and it tasted "real" compared to other versions I've had. If there's one thing I would say about jubala is that they need to expand or something.. First off, I have to say that I have worked at 4 different coffee shops over the years. Secondly, I need to say that Jubala on Honeycutt Road is by far one of my go-to places to get a high quality espresso drink. I've never taken a drink back at the Honeycutt location over the past few years. I have visited the Jubala on Hillsborough Street, and from my experience, felt it would be helpful for others if I shared my experience. I visited for the first time last month and ordered a cortado along with the bacon/egg/cheese biscuit (which is, by far, the best place to get it in Raleigh... the Honeycutt location, that is). I ordered the biscuit over-hard and well done. The cortado was good, but the biscuit came with a runny egg and barely cooked bacon. I took it back and they corrected the mistake by throwing the bacon in the microwave, which was fine. The second visit, I ordered an iced almond latte... which was entirely too sweet (sweeter than the Honeycutt location, as it's what I sometimes get). I drank it anyway. My visit a few days ago was the worst. I ordered the HomeLand, which is the best espresso milkshake you can get in town (at the Honeycutt location)... they replied that they don't make that drink at the Hillsborough location. I asked why... they said they just don't. Well, ok. So I ordered an iced mocha, which they totally nail at the Honeycutt location. When I got it, it wasn't sweet at all and tasted watery. Me, who can drink anything with coffee in it, couldn't drink it. I took it back in, explained that I've never had to bring a drink back at Jubala and told them it isn't sweet at all and tasted watery. They replied with, "Oh. Yeah. We don't use the same chocolate as the other location. Our chocolate isn't sweet. You can add simple syrup to it." I responded that its strange to me that the two locations don't have the same ingredients or drinks. They just kinda looked at me without providing a solution to the problem. They asked if I wanted them to make the iced mocha again. No, I don't like the iced mocha at this location... I'll just have an iced almond latte. Then they brought it out to me and walked away. It was entirely too sweet and again, tasted watery (which is usually a sign that the setting on the espresso is off). Wasted $5. I gave this location 3 tries, but being dissatisfied each time, I think I'll just stick with the Honeycutt location or the Cup-A-Joe down the street from the Hillsborough location. read more

Staff is rude and unhelpful. Especially young woman with brown hair, messy ponytail, and glasses. Coffee is fine but staff could use an attitude adjustment. I could understand being a dick if your customers are being rude as well, but I don't understand the unnecessary iciness during normal interactions involved in ordering and receiving coffee. Management might consider basic customer service training on how to be a pleasant human being. read more

I had a wonderful experience here! This is a hip little coffee shop in the Aloft hotel on Hillsborough street. I went on a Sunday morning to get some coffee and read a book. They had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and the place was buzzing with people passing through to eat and chat. I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted when I arrived (I just knew I wanted some kind of tea) but the kind behind the counter was super helpful and I ended up really enjoying the chai latte that I got. I will definitely be back here - I'd love to try some of their food and other drinks! read more

Heard a lot about this place and recently decided to try it out...and it the place itself is cool but this turned out to be one of the most off-putting customer service experiences I've ever had in my life. You come into a super open front area that leads you right up to the counter where you order. As I explained my coffee and snack order to the woman wearing glasses on the other side, I couldn't help but notice she barely even made eye contact with me or my friend, mumbling the price of it all at the end. I don't know if she just needs to loosen her ponytail or take a class on how to greet customers, but I was genuinely surprised at the lack of invitation I felt coming into the place for just a few minutes. After getting our coffee, we quickly went outside to escape her cold gaze. My coffee was good as hell though. read more

my latte was decent despite the absence of raw sugar. my partners cortado was pretty acidic. we got breakfast biscuits and they were aight. the real bone i have to pick is with the service. not a single employee smiled or said hello to us upon entry. and i am a very smiley person. so that bummed me out. but the disinterested folk behind the bar were nothing compared to the robot that took our order. she looked human. female, about 35, low pony tail, glasses. but she couldn't have been. ZERO expression change as i approached with a smile and a "hi!" literally said nothing as i ordered the sandwiches and coffee until, with what seemed like great effort, she informed me in a monotone voice while barely even opening her mouth or looking at me in the eyes that they could mix whole mix and skim to give me a 2% latte. great. she had a nice butt though... i'll give her that. but lykeee... smile dude. just a little. read more

I've been at the Hillsborough St location a few times a week every week since they opened. Coffee (pour over) is generally good, with a few misses on lattes depending on who the barista was (have been getting the same beans on several visits). Food wise, biscuits are always good, however on one occasion my banana nutella waffle was burnt throughout. I was surprised that they thought it was ok to serve it that way! The staff there are friendly with the exception of one who I believe is the manager (tall male, dark hair, glasses). He often takes my order and there is no greeting... no smile, no hello, welcome, etc. He usually looks as if he would rather be doing something else with his time. The last time I visited I was third in line with five others waiting to order. This employee offered free coffee to two women in line behind me. I have no problem with him giving free coffee to others, but couldn't he have given it to them when it was their turn to order? Some of us had been waiting for several minutes already. read more
