Cute little spot with anime decor (lots of character pictures on the walls) and a cozy woodsy vibe. Only about 10 tables inside, so it feels intimate. We came near closing time. Something I usually avoid, but we were starving and I've been wanting to try this place. I asked the server if it was okay to still dine in, and she warmly welcomed us, seated us right away, and brought out water immediately. Super friendly service the entire time, and food came out quickly too. I ordered the Jigoku (Vegetarian Ramen). Menu says "extremely spicy," but it wasn't as fiery as expected. I'd rate it a 3/5 heat level and I have a high spice tolerance. Still, a really solid bowl of ramen, especially for a vegetarian option. The Jigoku already comes with black garlic paste, which adds a nice aroma and flavor (a must if you're a garlic lover like me). That said, the pricing feels steep. My vegetarian ramen was $20 with no egg included (menu says "Vegetarian" - and vegetarians can eat eggs). I didn't realize this until after ordering, so I added a whole egg on the side for $2.50 but it turned out to be just a plain hard-boiled egg, not the seasoned ramen egg I was expecting. The toppings were otherwise standard: corn, bamboo, woodear mushroom, some tofu slices, and lots of noodles. An overwhelming amount.. Meanwhile, the tonkatsu ramen is $17 and comes with everything in mine plus 2 slices of chashu and half an egg. So it feels a little unbalanced. Overall, competitive prices compared to the area, friendly service, and solid ramen. I'll be back for the other vegetarian options to update my review, but still wish the $20 bowl came with at least a proper seasoned egg.
Tried their Tonkotsu ramen and had a taste of the Jigoku soup broth. The Tonkotsu broth was creamy but light, milky in flavor, with just the right amount of saltiness. The pork was present but not the most notable taste. The broth was really good that I emptied the bowl into the spoon to the last drop. It came with 2 pieces of thick chashu pork which was tender with a good fat to meat ratio. It had an oven roast pork taste. Good size meat. Also had a half na egg which was soft boiled. The egg didn't appear nor taste like it was marinated. Also had the classic ramen veggies of bean sprouts, bamboo shoots and mushrooms. Generous serving of noodles, the most I've had in ramen. I just tried a spoonful of the Jigoku broth and they're not kidding when they described it as spicy. I could immediately feel the heat in my throat. Price was reasonable and comparable to other ramens restaurants. The staff, an older lady was very friendly and nice. Food came out quickly. The restaurant name implies that they have tapas. I figured they're referring to the appetizers and sides which include chicken karage, takoyaki, and pot stickers to name half of the appetizer menu. I would like to go back and try the Black Garlic ramen next time.
The lady working at the restaurant was very sweet and attentive. She was striking a conversation with all the guests and inquiring about the food from time to time. Great service overall. The restaurant has a very cozy vibe to it. Although, I was not that impressed with their food. The potstickers were quite average to begin with. They lacked flavor and the skin wasn't as nice. Even frozen potstickers are better than theirs. For mains, we tried the shoyu ramen and curry ramen. The shoyu ramen lacked flavor. It was bland and doesn't come with many toppings. It felt like all I had in the ramen was just noodles. The curry ramen's flavor wasn't anything great either. It was a very average ramen. Considering bay area has tons of delicious ramen for the same price point, I wouldn't want to come here again. If only the vibe of the restaurant matched the flavor of the food, this would be such a nice ramen spot to visit.
Love this place! We stumbled upon in months ago on a cold rainy night, and I remember loving the ramen and the vibes of the shop. We couldn't remember the name or location, and finally happened to stumble upon it again last night! I was so excited we found it again. They had 5 different vegetarian ramen options, which is pretty rare. They also had veggie appetizers. We ended up ordering the potatoes croquettes and I got the Veggie Spicy Tofu Ramen. Both were delicious. The broth for the veggie ramen was super flavorful! I am excited to try the other veggie options. The service was wonderful! The woman working was so sweet, very attentive, and stopped to have nice conversations with each of the guests in the restaurant. So happy to have found this place again, we will definitely be going back.
I ordered the black garlic ramen and the tonkatsu ramen, both were good. The tonkatsu was super filling and warmed you up inside, super fitting for how cozy the place felt. The black garlic was also pretty good, being much lighter and easier to finish than the tonkatsu. The service was friendly, ambiance was surprisingly cozy. Was afraid that this was one of those "trendy fast food" places with bad food, but I was definitely proven wrong! Super glad it did not disappoint.
Definitely solid ramen spot. Great for vegetarians too as I think they had at least 4 options for vegetarians. Great customer service as well, very friendly staff! - There's a huge van that seems to be parked in front of it a lot and it pretty much blocks the entire restaurant from outside. I'd recommend talking to whoever owns it and move it for better business visibility. - I prefer the noodles to be more on the firm side, but they were on the softer side. The broth was great though, if you can stick the landing on making a savory broth, that's enough in my book. I'm giving it a 5 star in spirit of supporting local small businesses.
Very simple and delightful food. I always put more faith in places with smaller menus. Noddle were the perfect texture, egg good but cold, and veg spot on. Service a good, zero English, but one star lost because they had one Beer option and one Sake option and she couldn't tell me what the sake was...sus. I went with the Sapporo, though normally I don't like beer, and would go with sake,the idea of getting a shit sake was not worth the gamble. Overall great place and would come back!
I came here due to a ramen craving, so my friend and I ordered the tantanmen ramen and the tonkatsu ramen along with the takoyaki. If there was one thing you could order here, it has to be the takoyaki. It was perfectly crisp on the outside, the octopus bit was good, and the flavor was just on point. My friend liked his tantanmen ramen--it was peanut-y and had a strong sesame oil flavor. I preferred the tonkatsu-- I do feel like it was missing the fatty depth that this ramen usually has, but it had a really nice, light flavor to it. The egg was also perfectly jammy. I'm not a huge fan of egg that just runs into the broth because you lose some of that eggy flavor. Overall, I would definitely recommend if you're looking for ramen in this area.
My mom and I stopped by on a weekday for lunch and though the place is small, it was packed. We both ordered the Tonkotsu ramen and were in a food coma afterwards. This place is a hidden gem for rich, savory ramen but more so, I'm impressed by their attentive service. The person that was waitering for the entire shop noticed my mom wasn't touching her water and, without us mentioning anything, brought out some tea for her. We were both very impressed. I could recommend this place for the service alone.

In a small shopping center. Ordered the veggie jigoku ramen to go. Veggie jigoku ramen 1/5: 18.95$ for a veggie ramen with no meat or egg. Way overpriced for what you get. We asked to add egg which was an additional 2$ which makes it more expensive than the non vegetarian version. The menu listed multiple toppings but most of the topings were missing or rare. There was no bok choy or mushrooms (like the menu said) and very little corn. The ramen was barely spicy and the soup was bland (it tasted like the flavor only came from msg). The server (owner?) was very sweet and gave us excellent service, which is nice because the last few times we went out to different ramen places my bf and I have been ignored. I got the creamy veggie ramen and my bf got the jigoku ramen. My broth was really rich and the noodles were delicious. The place was a small clean, nice space and was not very crowded so it was great to come in and do a quiet lunch with my significant other before dropping him off at the airport. I ordered the Miso Ramen with garlic. It was ok, nothing special but also nothing to talk bad about. The broth was savory but the noodles were a bit over cooked. I also ordered the gyozas which were good but did not come with the traditional gyoza sauce which is all a part of the gyoza experience for me so they weren't their greatest. Overall, it was a cool place to say I tried but will probably be going to a new ramen spot next time to try something else. read more

The interior of the restaurant is not that inviting and got intrigued with the "tapas" in the name-expecting a good selection but was disappointed with the limited options. Went with the chicken karage which unfortunately is dry inside when I took a bite. It also doesn't look appetizing. I love the spicy tofu ramen which we requested to be medium spicy as my friend can't tolerate too much heat. We also got the tan tan men as we are looking forward to the sesame flavored broth but the spicy tofu is tastier IMO. The server is very attentive to our needs and hot tea is refilled often. She was gracious enough to give us two extra bowls as requested so my friend and I can taste our respective orders. If you are craving for ramen, you can't go wrong here. read more

Oh man!!! This place is amazing !!! Fair warning- this place does not have any of those trendy instagram walls to take a pic or anything but I will say that it's a small warming spot for some damn good food! Nami, the hostess and our server, one of the nicest people to talk to made our dinner that much more amazing. Her hospitality was truly impeccable - THANK YOU!! As for our meal, fried Gyoza, tonkatsu curry, and a pork rice bowl - all amazing !!! We will def be back! read more

My favorite ramen place open back up for dine in! This has been my favorite go to place for lunch, but when the pandemic hit, so was the business. Clearly not many people know that they are back in full swing, as the restaurant is pretty empty for it being fall weather. Previously, I'd have to rush over during my lunch hour because the place was pretty busy. Every time I've come here, the ramen has been amazing. Curry tonkatsu being my favorite. Highly recommend. But the service is always really friendly and at tentative. 5 stars! Thank you for opening back up :) read more

I'm pretty picky with Ramen so when I say this place is good, it's good. They are a small mom and pop Ramen shop in Milpitas right next to Crawdaddy. I love how their broth is not too thick nor too watery. It's got a nice size to the ramen so you'll definitely get full. I ordered the curry ramen while my boyfriend got the Tonkotsu. I docked off 1 star because some parts of my takoyaki was frozen. If you love an old school anime nostalgia, visit this place! read more
Salt Grill Mackerel (Saba Shioyaki) - also came with seaweed salad, rice, and soup. I love Mackerel, better than Salmon or Tuna. Oily, fishy, full of Omega 3 and not over fished in the ocean. Juban Champon Ramen with add on black garlic - daughter said it was too salty for her but it was OK to me. Loved the strong garlic taste, noodle chewiness was good, half egg was perfect, veggies were good. Service - when I asked to take home my left over ramen, the lady packaged my bowl into 2 containers, broth separated from solids. What attention to detail! Of course that is what I would do at home but I was impressed they did that for me. read more
I came here for dinner. I figured the good reviews were good but was a bit disappointed. I will say service was okay, but the waiter did not really ask about water refills or check up on the table. It was not really a pack restaurant. The food is where I will say it was disappointing. I got the black garlic ramen, and it had no taste to it. I couldn't taste the garlic, and the broth was bland. It was like an extremely watered-down ramen. It had a very small hint of soy sauce. The egg was also very bland. The chashu was very dry and just did not go well with the ramen. The noodles were okay, but without the broth, it was just eating noodles cooked in hot water. I was pretty disappointed. I think the ramen presentation is okay, but between the service and the poor taste, it is not worth the money. read more

I don't think the ramen can compare to some other places, but it's definitely fill my craving since the area does not have much ramen places! The decor is very Japanese with posters of famous animes hanging on the walls. It wasn't busy at all on a Wednesday evening. So we were sat right away. I ordered the tan tan ramen. It looked spicy but It was not spicy at all. But still the broth was very creamy and savory and porky. My boo ordered the chashu don buri and he was happy. I would come again. The food is good, the prices are fair. Also it seems to be lesser known, or I just came at a good time but the food is good quality. read more

Me and my friends came across this place on Yelp and it's fair to say that we will definitely be coming back. There was a ton of options to choose from, traditional flavors such as shoyu, tonkatsu, and miso. Then on top of that there was options such as tantan, spicy tofu, and black garlic as well as some yummy options for vegetarians/ vegan. The owner and workers were really nice and came to check up on us to see if we enjoyed the food. The place itself was pretty cozy and had a lot of retro anime posters which were pretty cool. Overall I would highly recommend this place for a pretty decently priced ramen and portions. read more

A couple of friends and I came here a few of days ago. Upon entering, it had a really nice and cozy, homey feeling to it. It was not busy at all when we came here on a Wednesday night at around 6PM. The decor inside was absolutely clean and organized. I absolutely love the decor! Against the walls, there are Japanese writings as well as some anime poster scrolls. The staff there are extremely nice and kind. They check up on you from time to time as well. I ordered the dipping ramen aka tsukemen. The bowl which contain the soup was absolutely adorable ! It was a bunch of white cats inside the bowl. I wished that I took a picture because how cute it is! Taste wise, I thought that the broth was really salty. For those of you wondering, there is no MSG. I was never really against it though but just a heads up. And for some reason my soup was more warm than hot? I would've asked them to reheat the soup but I was the last one to receive my bowl while my friends have already gotten theirs. The noodles texture was perfect though, it was chewy and was cooked perfectly. It was my first time having dipping ramen before but I didn't know if the ramen was supposed to be cold or warm because I have received cold noodles instead. Overall, this place would be a 3/5 because of the food, but the service and decor itself are both 5/5! read more

A small shop but descent amount of seating. Came on sat for lunch and surprisingly lots of family with young kids come here. Tried the tan tan men, looks scarily red but didn't taste that spicy, not even as spicy as the Korean spicy instant noodle soup. Also tried the veggie curry, the curry broth is rich but not a lot of veggies and no egg. The rice is the best, we ordered gyu don, which came with a cup of dipping sauce and loads of beef on the bowl. Recommend the gyu don but for us there's nothing else special to return to. read more
We came in today for lunch at around 2 pm and there were only two other groups in the restaurant. Our waitress was very friendly and brought us our waters right away. My friend ordered the dipping ramen and her sauce was not as thick as she would have liked. My second friend ordered the curry ramen and she liked it, but disliked that at this place they include fairly large pieces of raw onions in the ramen. The taste of raw onion in ramen wasn't a flavor we were used to. Lastly, I ordered the tonkatsu ramen. For my dish, the broth was not as flavorful as I would've liked- the broth had more of a milk flavor than a pork based flavor. Parking was easy, there is a large parking lot for the shops and restaurants nearby. Overall, we were happy with the service here, and the food was okay! read more
This place is so cute and the food is delicious. My partner and I went here one night when we were trying to go to Dave & Buster's for eat and play combo and 1/2 game Wednesdays, but the electricity went out due to a fire or incident so we were trying to find a place to eat when we stumbled onto Juban. Food - The ramen was delicious, to be honest I don't recall which one I got, I usually get shoyu so it's most likely shoyu. It was good because it wasn't too salty and I got full off the food with some leftovers. Atmosphere - This place is so cute and almost intimate and romantic. It wasn't too bright and it gave a warm and comfortable vibe. Service - You just order at the cashier/counter, it's small and right behind it is the kitchen separated by a curtain. The people are super friendly. Cost - It's worth it, it's typical prices for ramen, about $10. Parking - The parking lot is shared with other restaurants and it wasn't busy when we went so we were able to easily find parking. The parking spots are small so just keep that in mind. I would definitely come back here again for delicious, not-too-salty ramen in this intimate, comfortable environment. :) read more
All the ramens range from about $11-12 bucks. I havent tried any of their standard ones yet (Tonkotsu...Shiyo...Miso...) so i dont quite have a comparison for those yet, but the ones I have tried are good. Food: TanTanMen ($11.95)- Very rich broth. Ramen texture was good as well as a perfectly runny soft boiled egg. It also includes corn which I love. Comes with 2 pieces of chashu (pork). I enjoyed the dish. Veggie Tomi ($10.95, Tomato based broth)- Loved this broth! Its also really different from any other ramen I've had. Only downside is, it doesnt come with meat. You gotta add it in for $2.5. Not sure whats up with the high price for it w/o meat since they have other ramens with meat priced at $10.25. Note: I came here awhile back and my friend tried the Champon Ramen...dont know if they still have it on the new menu, but I would skip it. It was just ok. Overall, Ive enjoyed the ramens ive had so far here so I would def come back if I wanted a quick bowl! read more

After a movie at Century 20 Great Mall, I had a hankering for ramen - even though it was like 90 degrees outside! Juban was less than five minutes away! This small restaurant is located in a strip mall with other eateries, a dry cleaner, etc., etc. I mention this because parking can be a challenge during peak times. We started with a nice, hot, crispy gyoza appetizer - actually a "set" to my Tonkotsu Ramen. A fair bowl of ramen. The noodles were a tad over cooked, but the broth was rich and flavorful. I usually see more pork slices, more egg, and more "stuff" with a bowl of ramen, too. The Tonkotsu Curry Ramen broth was very good! I should've had that since they were out of Spicy Seafood Ramen. A little more attentive service would've garnered another star, as well. Oddly, no one asked how our meal was and the lone water refill was when they brought our check. read more

FIRST VISIT: 01/2018 JUBAN CHAMPON RAMEN One thing that I look for when I eat ramen is a great level of spiciness, creaminess of the soup, and the quantity or quality of the meat. I love my ramen extra extra spicy. This place may not have provided that, BUT they are more than willing to accommodate to your level of preference. They have offered various spices on the side and have offered more spices than other ramen places usually offer. Also, if you prefer a ramen that has a less creamy soup and more of the broth flavor, this may also be an option for you. My overall rating for the ramen is a 3.5 out of 5, but the overall dining experience makea it a 4 out of 5! Their customer service is exceptional. They are very friendly, and they'll anticipate and meet all your needs to make your dining experience great! read more

We came here on a Thursday night and it wasn't busy. There were four of us, 2 adults and 2 children. We were seated right away. The staff was friendly and answered all of our questions. All the food was flavorful. The takoyaki was crispy on the outside with creamy potatoes and octopus pieces on the inside. The unagi was cooked well and the teriyaki sauce was good. The curry ramen wasn't spicy but delicious. I didn't try the chashu donburi but the pork in the ramen was good. Overall dinner was nice. We will definitely be back to try out more of the menu. read more

Now that the weather is getting colder, I made it a point to try new ramen places around the area. This place definitely gave me the authentic Japanese vibe. I love the decor and how quaint and intimate this restaurant is. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and were seated right away. My friend was happy to find out he was able to add Black garlic to his tonkatsu. The ramen was delicious! Takoyaki was good as well. The service was great! Both owners constantly walked over to check if we needed anything. I really enjoyed my experience here. I will definitely come back. read more
I came here for lunch a few weeks ago and loved it. The restaurant is small but cozy. I can't explain why but has a really authentic feeling to it which I like. I ordered the juban champon, my bff ordered the tonkatsu and we shared the toki kaarage. I LOVE that my bowl came out piping hot. If you have been reading all my other reviews, I appreciate whenever ordering any broths/soups/noodles for the bowls to come out hot. IMO it totally makes a difference for my taste buds. Anywho, I really enjoyed my ramen bowl. They forgot to add the chasu in our bowls so we waved down the waiter and she brought out 4 thick cuts that porky goodness. It was tender, fatty and delicious! And yasss, the noodles were al dente. What I really liked was how the broth looks heavy but it was actually light and creamy AND you can taste all that porky goodness with each sip. The portion is perfect too. I didn't feel super full after lunch which is a good thing because I hate going back to work with food coma. Now about the toki kaarage, it came with no sauce which was way too plain for our liking so we asked the sweet little lady behind the counter and she brought out some Japanese tartar sauce with a sprinkle of scallions. I'm glad she didn't give us the typical sriracha mayo sauce because the tartar sauce went really well with the kaarage. Overall, this is probably one of the better ramen places in Milpitas/ Fremont area. I'll definitely come back once this crazy heat wave dies down. read more

A nice little ramen spot. I ordered the karage and tako yaki for appetizers. They were decent. Got the Tantan men, but it came with chashu instead of ground pork. The broth didn't have any sesame flavor. Shouldn't be even called Tantan men at this point. The flavor was decent, but the noodles were overcooked. The egg was the bwst part. My coworker said his Chashu Don Large was cold and didn't have much flavor. He wanted me to include that in my review. read more

I came in here for their soft opening and ordered the Juban Champon ramen and the shishamo (grilled smelt) fish. I was feeling extra daring getting items I've never seen before and I was not disappointed! Food 5/5 Most Asian places leave me feeling gross and bloated from all the oil and MSG but the food at Juban tasted fresh and genuine! There was no need for me to get a cup of tea to chase down all the grease. The noodles were firm and the broth was delicious. Toppings included were chashu, corn, bamboo shoots, half a seasoned egg, seaweed, naruto fish cakes, mushroom, and corn. My phone keeps autocorrecting "champon" to "champion" so perhaps my android is hinting that this ramen was indeed superior! *dad joke; sorry not sorry* The fish was a nice side dish and it tasted fresh Service 5/5 A male waiter greeted me promptly and gave me a nice welcome. The owner was also hanging out at the front of the house and he was quite friendly as well. He was the one who recommended the shishamo for me! Customer service was great as the gentleman made sure my water was full and checked in an appropriate number of times to ask how I was doing. Super bonus brownie points because he had an awesome sleeve tattoo! Decor 5/5 The benches against the wall were DIY-ed by the chef and himself according to the owner so that was pretty cool. There were some colorful anime posters on the wall which added a nice touch to the contemporary Asian feel of the place. If you check out the wall of liquor at the back of the store next to the bathroom, you'll see some cool trinkets and alcohol ranging from affordable to "let's get schwifty." Overall experience 5/5 (no doubt about it) My breakdown explains it all. To note, i have been trying to look for a goto ramen place since moving to the bay area back in February and I think I've found it! I live right next door so I'll definitely be back to try out the other items and maybe splurge on some bougee sake next paycheck I left this place with a happy tummy and good vibes read more
