Haven't checked out restaurants in this area in a while. This used to be a Shanghai restaurant and I found out from the owner they've been open for 2 years now. There aren't many (any) Henan restaurants in Bay Area so this is a good addition to the mix of cuisines we get here. The restaurant is clean and cozy and service is attentive (the waitress walked me through their whole menu). Both dishes we ordered have flat wheat based noodles in it. The braised noodles soup feels a bit like Pan Mee from South East Asia except the soup from the steak (more like beef ribs) is super tasty deep beef broth (no hint of msg which is good). The big beef plate reminds me a bit of the Peruvian stir fry with the sliced and fried potatoes. What a great find and a great opportunity to try out Henan food. Milpitas is the spot for Noodles... In the last couple of years there are a decent amount of Chinese Noodle spots that have opened. Each one of them are slightly unique, and they're all really good! If the high ratings weren't a accurate indicator, then the packed venues are definitely a conformation. Henan Noodle isn't the biggest venue, it's actually on the smaller side; small mom & pop operation. The place is charming, clean and inviting with a minimalist decor. The restaurant is located in a small plaza off N Milpitas Blvd. I forsee challenging parking during peak times; the lot is not that big either. The service was fine. Everything necessary was already laid out on the table, well organized and ready to dine in; bowls, chopsticks, cups, napkins, soup spoons and cold water. Scan the QR code on the table and place your order. Food came out in a timely manner. I'm not sure if lady running the place (at the time of our visit) speaks English; she gave us instructions in Chinese, I'm guessing Mandarin. We had no clue what she said, but were able to figure out what she was telling us...basically the condiments are self serve, small station in the corner against the wall. #SendNoods Braised Noodle 烩面: ~ Pickled Cabbage & Black Fish with Lamb 酸菜黑鱼羊汤烩面 - 5/5 Brilliant flavor. Well balanced, not too salty, gamey or creamy. Just perfect! The pieces of fish were so tender, good amount of noodle and that pickled cabbage...just brilliant! We didn't feel the need to add anything. ~ Lamb Stew Noodle 羊肉烩面 - 4.5/5 Another banger! The broth on this one was a bit bland, while it tasted clean and healthy we thought it was lacking a bit of flavor. We added a bit of Chili oil and walah!!! Perfection... lol. At least to out pallets. Everything else was perfect. The dishes are very filling, even though they don't look that intimidating at first. I can't wait to try some of the other dishes. Henan Noodle is my favorite Chinese noodle spot in the Bay! Their Henan style hand pulled noodles are thick and chewy in the best way and I always get the lamb. Super tender and the broth is so good. It's rich, milky and actually packed with flavor but still really comforting. I love the self serve sides too, the pickled garlic is a must. Service is always super fast and it's tucked away on a quieter street so it feels like a lowkey hidden spot. I always come back here whenever I want something warm and satisfying. read more

There are so many noodle spots popping up around the area and I'm so glad we came here. It's a small establishment, but definitely filled up around peak dinner time. The staff were super friendly as well. I got the beef stew noodle with fragrant spicy broth and set B (quail eggs, vermicelli noodles, bean sprouts). The broth was full of flavor and not too fatty. The noodles were nicely cooked, not too chewy with a good bouncy texture. It came with a side of beef slices that were nicely seasoned with a good amount of moisture. I wish I had chosen a different "set" because the additional vermicelli noodles were too much for me to finish. I would consider coming back to try their lamb noodle soup! read more

Ah I loved it. The noodle was hand-pulled, chewy, and cooked just right. The portion was generous and the price pretty reasonable. I like that the dish came with plenty of sauce to coat the noodles as well. THERE'S ALSO FREE SIDE DISHES including the sweet and sour garlic (糖醋蒜). It goes so well with the noodles. Great homy flavor. The only thing is the meat is pre-sliced and processed, so the texture isn't very satisfying. Considering the price though, it's understandable. The waitress was very friendly, and she spoke Mandarin as well. We ordered online from a code on the table. We went at noon time on a weekday, so it wasn't crowded at all. I always just got the beef noodle soup. I'm happy I tried something else for once. We got the Stewed Noodles with Beef and they were some of my new fave dishes. Noodles are my fave food because their texture is always good. These noodles were a nice chewy and they were soaking up the beef stew the whole time, so all the bites were really sauced up. The beef was super tender. It was slow cooked and oh my goodness the thick sauce, which was really nice and comforting, coated the noodles and made the soup pretty hearty. The lamb noodle soup was also really filling but because it had a more subtle flavor it was really nice and made you wanna keep going for more. The dumplings were the best, super crunchy in the best way and just fun and easy to eat. Everything was beyond what I expected and the portions were really big. The staff was really nice and keeping everything really fresh. Everything was nice and really casual which I really liked. I'm gonna be coming back to try a ton of the noodle soups for sure. read more

Tiny little spot, but super clean and tidy. The owners are incredibly friendly -- they chatted with us every time they brought out a dish and even introduced the DIY sauce bar. I got the lamb stew noodles -- highly recommend! You can tell the noodles are handmade, perfectly chewy and springy. The lamb broth was rich and flavorful with a nice milky color. The sliced braised lamb came on a small side dish, and while the portions of meat and veggies weren't huge, the quality made up for it. I also ordered the stir-fried cold noodles because someone online said it tastes just like the night market version from Kaifeng. But honestly, if you're used to lighter flavors, it might not be your thing. It's basically jelly-like noodles stir-fried in soy sauce -- pretty oily and heavy. Still, I'll definitely be coming back to try other flavors of the stew noodles! read more

Each table has their own sauces/condiments, carafe of ice water, etc. The service was friendly but ok. Braised Beef Noodle (3/5). Choice of two different kinds of broth. I got the original broth with kombu flavor. The broth came out super hot. Though, it was just ok and not as flavorful as I'd hope. I'd probably try the other choice next time. The noodles were long and chewy. They do provide you with some scissors for cutting the noodles into smaller bites. This place is small bit even with grand opening it was still pretty full! We came around lunchtime around 12pm on Christmas. There were around 2 open tables and we took one. What we ordered: Special Egg Fried Pancake - 9/10, flavor was great but some of the pieces of pancake were a tad hard and too chewy. They are usually a little more soft in my experience but it was still really good! Cold mixed seasoned vegetables - 9/10, flavor was great and it tasted good Beef steak stew noodle - 10/10, the meat was tender and fell off the ribs and the noodles were chewy and bouncy. Soup was flavorful too! Small wonton soup - 10/10, this is my favorite dish and they really nailed it! Broth was amazing and the wontons were great Service was great and they were also able to accomodate small children with a highchair. Will definitely be coming back! read more

So far so good. Clean look & easy to the eyes decor. Wait staffs are friendly & helpful. Water bottle is on every table for self service. Chopsticks & stainless steel bowls (almost Korean like) & the tables & chairs are high quality materials which matches the theme of simple & functional. For my lamb shank noodle soup, one can choose original flavor or several levels of spicy and curry flavor. Plus, there are three combo sets of veggies one can choose from. Ultimate flexibility. I chose original non-spicy and soup was delicious & not overwhelming, more like homemade. Noodle is definitely freshly made & nice softer texture. Don't leave in the soup too long, it may softens too much. The golden soup with fish & lamb slices dish: selected the original soup thinking that's the non-spicy option. We were wrong. This particular Original soup is already extra spicy and we let the management know and they were nice enough to replace the dish with a non-spicy plain vegetable noodle soup. Next time, we'l need to try all other dishes on the photo menu. We were here last night at 6pm and the wait was an hour so we tried 11:30am for lunch today and got our seats at noon. Service: 0/5 no service and still needed to tip Ambiance: it's only 75 degree outdoors but the restaurant is like 90 degrees. So even more Highly questionable on the food storage quality. The food was awesome. I got the lamb leg and the broth was braised perfectly. It was a rainy day so the dish was just perfect for the weather and the overall feeling of that day. They give free side condiments like picked garlic and cabbages that cut through the richness of the broth. I think I would give this place a pretty good review. The noodle soup here is a bit more unique compared to what I have tried in the past. When you enter the restaurant, the sesame fragrance is probably what hits you at first. I got the noodles with the lamb shank. The lamb shank was braised well and fairly salty and I'm pretty sure is that easy in order to pair it with the noodles. The noodle broth is sesame oil heavy. Something that I was not expecting but I think it was good. Noodles was good as well. The cold beef appetizer was a tad on the dry side but I think that is how it is. Tasty, real broth! Tasty chewy noodles. However, a little inconsistent it seems. My noodles were cooked perfectly but my husband's was overcooked so less chewy and delicious. TLDR Knife cut noodles. Beef and Lamb only. So just a warning... there are no pork or chicken anywhere. If you want meat, it will be beef lamb or fish. Since I can't really eat any of those, I chose beef Tendon noodle stew. My wife ordered the cabbage and fish stew. First of, I love knife cut noodles! I love the unevenness of the noodle... it makes it seem more homemade. Also the wide noodles catch the stew. Interestingly, the tendons are served raw in a separate bowl. Not sure why but I put them all in a soon as possible lest the stew cools too much to cook them properly. I'd say I got about 10 pieces of various sizes. I look the soup flavor. Evidently my wife does too since she kept sneaking sips... My wife's stew is sour which is the intended flavor profile. Maybe she didn't like the lamb gaminess as much... but she still liked it. She likes it hot (temp) and the soup comes out HOT. I think she would prefer thinner noodles. As this is our first time, we ordered a cold veggie dish as well. But we didn't need bother. The stew contains quite a bit of veggies already. That being said the veggies had a good taste. It's not just boiled veggies. Not sure what flavor it has but it tasted good to me. I think my wife still likes mifen places more but for me, I really like it here! We got there around 6p on a Friday and it wasn't too busy. But the place is pretty small. The restaurant is pretty small. All the utensils are stainless steel, very new and clean. I'm not familiar with Henan style food so I can't tell if it's authentic or not, but it tastes okay. The portion of the noodles is generous, and the price is good. But the service is extremely slow, you'll have to wait for more than 45 minutes for a bowl of noodles, which is a little bit ridiculous. And the waiter is actually the teenager son of the boss lady, obviously he is not good at his job, he drops chopsticks and spoons every time he takes them to guests. read more
