TLDR: Get the Lunch Combo! Haha, my friend and I tried an experiment.... we ordered the exact same thing (Grilled Chicken), but I ordered the Lunch combo, while he just had the Lunch portion. Our thinking was, perhaps instead of the dumplings and noodles, he would get a larger portion of chicken. Well... that experiment failed. Same portions! Even the owner was saying the lunch combo is definitely for the Customer's benefit! So yeah, order the lunch combo... you actually get MORE stuff. Owner was friendly, it looks like a mom-pop place. He noticed we were fighting a mosquito (he thought it was a fly), so he helpfully turned on the fan near the front of the door. I'm not sure it helped, but definitely the thought counts! As for the food... I didn't like the potato bonchan that much. I really like the potatoes from Bigspoon more. It's hard to describe... but the best I can come up with is... it tastes undercooked. Mina's is a solid Korean food spot where I have always had a positive experience. The servers are attentive and nice, and the portions and price will make any Korean foodie satisfied. They offer plenty of banchan and options. I always order the bibimbap which always leaves me full to bursting. The meat is perfectly marinated and they present a decent amount in your meal - many other restaurants skimp out on the protein. They pour everyone warm tea instead of water. It can get crowded at times but other times there's enough seating. It's cozy and it's not loud like other restaurants. The parking lot might be a little tight or run out of space. It is a very homey feeling place with very courteous staff They are very nice and can help give recommendations if you're not sure what you want. The parking lot is very big but can get filled if its high time. Their side dishes are very fresh and you can ask for refills. Their soondubu was a very homey version and their kimchi pancake was pretty big. Most people get their meat dishes if you are craving that. I was in San Jose for a tech event sponsored by Dell and of course, I had to find some good food as the options at Top Golf were mediocre. Yelp suggested Minas korean BBQ, which was a short 10 min drive away. The place was not busy at 5:30pm so we got seated right away. I took no time to order and was already sold on the galbi based on the photos of this place. You'll notice it's in a very unassuming business park. A literal hole in the wall with really good(!!!!) ratings. I had the entire sizzling platter of short ribs myself. It was so good. The seafood pancake was for sharing and between 3 people we ended up having leftovers. The bonchon was especially delicious. I really liked the kimchi and fish cake. That's probably why we had so many leftovers, lol. A keeper in my book. The food here is definitely on par with the top ayce kbbq restaurants. The drive down here isn't as bad as it used to be. Came by for lunch the other day and it was a decent and quiet experience. Parking was available on the street as well as in the private strip mall lot. Dining was available both indoors and outdoors. Ordering was available online as well as inside the restaurant. Started off with the short ribs lunch entree and it was huge. The short ribs were well grilled, super flavorful and fragrant, although on the lean side. There was a generous selection of side dishes including pickled cucumbers, kimchi, and fish cake. The seafood pancake was huge and we had a ton of leftovers. The pancake had plenty of squid and vegetables and came with a tasty dipping sauce. This is my favorite restaurant in town. The food is really delicious. I've been here 46 times and spent $4500. But, the number of times I've driven 30mins to get here and then just leave was a little absurd. Twice they've run out of food. Twice they closed early for lack of customers. The worst occurrence was 2023 thanksgiving when I've called to confirm that they were open and that I was coming now, but they decided to close anyways. read more

The staff were Korean grandmas, and it was so adorable as they welcomed us in! Before I get sidetracked into the food, there's lots of parking nearby in this part of downtown San Jose and other food places to consider. Anyways, the waitress served us warm barley tea, which was surprising since most Korean place that I've been to serve water. Nonetheless, the warm tea was fitting for a chilly night. Side dishes were a great staple to get our appetites going! We ordered the jab chae, and it was a huge portion! I would consider this family size for 3 - 4 people. Decided to have a date night with my partner and stumbled on this place . It was easy seating and we were welcomed by their restaurant family . They checked in with us throughout our experience there . The food was 5/5 from the soup to the dinner package for 2 with unlimited sides , 2 choices of meat and 2 sodas. The parking is spacious , restaurant is in the middle of the plaza . We really appreciated the family that was working as we were the last ones to eat there, and we debated on taking everything left to go so that they can leave early, but they were really patient and sweet with us that they encouraged us to stay and finished eating . One of the really special things I've noticed is that after a long day of work , they do sit down to eat as a work family before going home . Authentic Korean Tofu Soup Restaurant with lots of reasonably priced, delicious dishes. I saw a ton of rave reviews and thought this is a place to check out! Long-story short, you won't be disappointed. I enjoyed this quite a lot. Let's talk about specifics. The place is small, so I wouldn't be surprised if people started to line up (as far as I know, no reservations in advance) so try to get in early. We showed up around 5:30 with a party of 8 and somehow managed to score a big table right away. Other than that, all the side tables already had parties of 2, parties of 4, and another big party of 8 in the corner. At this point, it is full. Staff are super patient and friendly. Since this was our first time and we didn't know what to order, we all decided to try and do individual style and just share everything around. The lady taking our order answered our questions each and patiently walked around to make sure we ordered correctly. When we asked where the restrooms were, they guided us that we have to go through the kitchen, all the way to the back. We get to at least see what the kitchen looks like, but everyone in their will sidestep for you. And lastly onto the food. Sadly no pictures, but I will take them the next time I go. But we ordered so many different things and nothing disappoints. Our favorites were: -Spicy Pork: other places do it very sweet. This place is much easier on the sweetness and a bit more on the spiciness. Instant favorite -Dol Sot Bi Bim Bap: always a fan favorite and this place does the stone pot rice well. Always love the crispy rice at the bottom! -Soon Du Bu: delicious, a bit spicy, savory, hot soup. Our first time with this, and it doesn't disappoint! -Gal Bi Tang: great flavors. We feared the soup would be bland, but nope. It was delicious with the soft tender beef chunks and the vermicelli noodles mixed with egg. -Gal Bi: again other places do it sweet, but not this place. This felt like a proper seasoned grilled beef! -Hael Mul Pa Jeon: crispy seafood pancake! My goodness, nice and crispy pancakes giving that great crunch, while the seafood was nicely seasoned and fresh! The sauce they provide adds a nice added element to the palate, which is instantly one of the greatest pancakes we have ever eaten in the Bay Area. -Duk Bokgi: easily one of my favorites. The rice roll cake is cooked perfectly to be soft enough on the outside, and chewy on the inside. The sauce was perfect! Nice blend of sweet and spicy that is addictive! Mina's is a small family owned restaurant. The ladies that work there are always very kind and attentive. They are now open for partial indoor dining and they have a few tables outside. Pre-pandemic I came into the office 3-4 times a week. My campus is just down the street and I came here often for lunch. Today I had to swing by work and decided to stop by, and man was I happy I did. With so many great places that closed during the pandemic, it was a relief to see they were still going strong. Nothing fancy about the food here. No fancy plates or plating. Just good family style food. My go to usually is the dolsot bibimbap and the seafood pancake. But they do most everything well. The kalbi tang, the soondubu, bbq are all done well. I tend to try different things when I eat here and have yet to be disappointed. oh my... What an experience this was. The server was so attentive and friendly and I loved the cute, quaint little atmosphere this restaurant had. I swiftly ordered the galbi and the yuk gae jang since my mother was craving something soupy and hot. Since we were quite hungry, we digged in on the banchan which was kimchi, fishcakes, bean sprouts and cucumbers. When we finished, she offered to refill them to which we happily agreed to. The yuk gae jang portion was FILLING. If we ordered extra rice, I swear it could be enough for two people. The galbi was sweet and succulent. The lunch portion was pretty filling for a single person as well. It came with dumpling and japchae. The yuk gae jang was one of the best I've had so far, the soup was not my favorite from other restaurants but Mina's made it pretty good to which I went for multiple servings. The rice we had was my favorite purple rice!! I was so happy when I saw it because most Korean restaurants just serve the white rice. The purple rice tasted more flavorful and chewier texture.
