You might be tempted to assume, as I have many times, that they would actually make what you order. By that, I mean, for example, that if you ordered a PB+Joe with dates, you would get something that actually has dates in it. Could it be that somehow between all the perpetual chaos of over-liquefying the overpriced, oversourced whatever ... And the peevish throngs of people all waiting for their exact whatever, plus the occasional acai bowl ... And the yelling as loud as possible to let all these people know which order has just been placed on the thing ... That something as simple as getting the order right becomes something of an afterthought? After all, we only have so few places in the neighborhood to get good quality, overpriced, liquid stuff. I really like this company's products but this location was dissapointing, mostly to do with the service. It's one of those situtaions where the three people that were working there when I came in were nice and smiling and did everything you asked, they just did it really poorly. The cashier: needs to be taught how to bag (or institute a self-bagging policy I don't mind doing it!) they threw my mango roll on top on the juice i bought so everthing in the mango roll container jumbled all over the place. "It all ends up in the same place." philosophy of presentaion I suppose. Then I asked for a pop-tart and amazingly they managed to break it into separate pieces - smashing it into the pastry bag in a weird angle. I didn't notice this until I got home. This may sound petty but why shouldn't customers get to leave the store with their food the same way it looks in the case? The smoothie: Another person made my smoothie while this was going on. An 'energy kick', which was handed to me with huge chunks of banana in it. I pointed this out and they dumped my glass back into the blender for another go 'round. At that point I was too tired to point out the banana, although less chunky, still wasn't going to fit through any straw. Also, the place was not busy. Including me, there were never more than two customers in the store. And three employees. Maybe if things were crazy busy I could understand. But this was a good time for a little care and attention to detail. read more

Yay! I'm glad this location finally has a Yelp so I can give it the love it deserves :) I started going to this Juice Generation when I moved to Union Square... it seems like we both entered the area around the same time. I usually frequent Juice Gen after my Soul Cycle classes, which are just down the street from here. Since I usually go around 8:30 pm, there isn't any line and the store is quiet and refreshing. Because I've been going to Juice Generation for over a year now, I already have my go-to orders: almond butter acai bowl, I love watermelon smoothie, PB bliss smoothie... Most of their products range from $8-$10, which is typical for a New York juice bar. The juice here is some of the freshest I've ever had- the fruit is never frozen and they don't use anything from concentrate, which is important to me. Another fun fact about this location: I once walked in and saw Salma Hayek behind the counter making smoothies. It was bizarre, but pretty cool! Also, this location has some outdoor seating in the front if you want to relax with your Kale Kolada. Overall, this is just another Juice Generation, but in a good way since Juice Gen is an incredible brand. I recommend trying their Acai Bowl for breakfast and grabbing one of their smoothies after a workout. read more

When I'm thirsty, I like to have a fruit smoothie. And when I go to a neighborhood, I take note of the smoothie places nearby. I've got the Smooth Strawberry smoothie (apple juice, banana, forzen-coconut milk ice, strawberries). The strawberry smoothie was what I needed to quench my thirst, and I like it's pink color. This place has outdoor seats, not such an interesting view on the street, but it has more seats than other locations. These smoothies are like a meal. I love going to Juice Generation when I want a healthy snack/meal replacement smoothie. I've been to multiple locations in the city and they've all been fairly consistent. Stopped by this location in Union Square for a Fighter Cider because I wanted something hot to drink that wasn't coffee or tea. I was starting to feel a cold coming on too, and this totally took care of it! Comparing to Juice Press, I think Juice Press is more about the detox regimen, whereas Juice Generation offers wider options for people who aren't looking to be in the middle of a detox but just want something healthy on the go. I love that Juice Generation has hot drinks as well as cold drinks, and their acai bowls are delicious! Wish there were more locations in the city. Prices are much more reasonable/affordable than at Juice Press. read more

This place charged me $15 for a delivery order because I placed at the wrong location. When I called them to simply change the location of Grand Central Location they said "sorry nothing we can do". You would think they want to keep customers during this time with even store credit but simply leaving customers hanging and $15 poorer is a disgrace. Love juice generation! Whenever I work in union square this is my go to snack. Unlike other juice places they really use fresh produce and not frozen sorbet. I love the mr.Greengenes with frozen coconut (ps frozen coconut is a free add in) whenever you're feeling sick snag a ginger shot and scare away that cold. Great spot for vegans as they offer gf and v dessert and lunch options. They even make vegan doughnuts and pop tarts! read more

I wanted to love this location because it's close to me. But they're painfully SLOW. I watched my smoothie sit in the blender for 5 minutes after it was done while the staff said hi to their friend visiting and not rush at all. Overall time to get my order was over 15 minutes. Seeds are unavoidable in a smoothie containing berries, but there seemed to be an excessive amount in my Cashew Butter Baby. Also, after just 10 minutes, the texture went from pleasant to goopy. Flavor was fine -- you can't go wrong with berries, cashew butter, cacao, & frozen almond milk -- but I'm hesitant to give this local juice bar another shot, even if it is to try a different drink; I'm looking for a consistency that doesn't seem to exist here. One of the best protein shakes I have ever tasted and I have gone through a million brands of protein. This peanut butter protein shake with dates is the perfect shake with 2 scoops of protein! 26 grams of protein is perfect. I went with almond milk. What a treat! I asked for a vegetable juice turned into a smoothie, meaning that the ingredients would go into the blender with some water, and the guy said yes but proceeded to make a juice. When I asked him to make it in the blender he grumbled and started shoving huge amounts of vegetables into the blender, but the watery ones like cucumber he put a tiny amount of. I tried to talk to him and he acted like what I was asking for was ridiculous and said that he had to follow a recipe. That was confusing because there was no recipe for making this particular smoothie. When I turned to leave he said sarcastically to have a great day. My question is why he agreed to my request if he wasn't going to be willing, or allowed to make it. read more

I don't think a supervisor really exists here. It's this weird outlier in what is normally a solid franchise. I ordered a green juice and waited 10 mins(there were only 2 people in front of me) and still didn't get the right one, the guy kept getting the wrong ingredients and I was late for class, so I asked him to just give me whatever he has. He didn't even apologize and was SUPER annoyed with me when I told him I am late for class. In the end I just took the juice that ONLY has celery in it and paid $11. I love Juice Generation! But EVERY time I come to this location, the staff always forgets to add something I requested and paid for. Today it was evident they forgot to add almond butter and plant protein. While still delicious, I can't get past the dissatisfaction of knowing I paid for something I didn't receive.
