Absolutely delicious! My friend and I stopped in Juicy Brew for lunch today after a hike. We are both mostly plant based and were looking for a yummy and healthy lunch. Neither of us had ever been there before and we both left super impressed. I had the tempeh Reuben sandwich that came with a side salad. The bread was toasted well and had nice flavor. There was a generous portion of tempeh that tasted so good! It was topped with what tasted like braised red cabbage and maybe a picked onion. The flavors all mixed really well together. It was savory but had some sweetness from the cabbage. Super good!! I also had an iced tea lemonade that was really tasty. It was a green tea which I really liked and it was very refreshing on a warm day. My friend ordered the tofu poke and said it was amazing. She said it had the right amount of salt and the tofu was really flavorful. She also ordered the white bean soup which she said was also delicious. It had large chucks of veggies and big white beans. Very hearty. She said it was a really nice classic soup. The restaurant has a cute seating area that is colorful and comfortable with big umbrellas. Definitely will be back! Stand in line! Etched glass and dark wood make this cute little Kaimuki place classy like the ingredients in their display case. Here you can eat fast--grab and go!--or you can eat slow--have your food presented on painted plates that look yummy themselves. Eat with cutely decorated chopsticks. Pour some local produce into your mouth that's so craftily prepared, you won't understand how tasty it is for being vegan! The meat options are pretty good too--like home cooking, with stuff that's truly local. Farmer's markets these days are selling the same brand of bananas I see at Walmart. Jenn Hee sources all her stuff directly from the farmers! For all you vegans and gluten-free peeps who want to eat outside your own kitchen, go to Juicy Brew for options. Two sisters make everything from scratch in the kitchen about 15 hours a day and it shows in the tastiness. I had a Frittata from chaya (it's a green leafy veggie), goat cheese, pine nuts, and lots of garlic ($6.75). And got to try the Organic Beef Chili over rice and the daily mochi (today was apple banana, $3 for a chunk). Ok, that first time I admit I left a little hungry, but my appetite is a monstrosity of almost tapewormlike proportions and I've been eating fried chicken at least once a day for the past 2 weeks. I went back a second time and had the Vegan Tapioca with Taro and Chia $4. Tapioca is usually vegan, right? But it's good they state it for the vegans in the room. The No Bake Chocolate Coconut things were loved by my bf. Also tried the Piccata Vegan Stew ($8+$1 for grains) and the Marinated Tofu Long Rice Salad ($8). It all tastes like a vegan home cooking. So colorful, all the local foods! Jenn is happy and bustling and doing everything! I went back a 3rd time and I feel like I am becoming strangely addicted to this place. My relationships to this place are weaving a funny web of food fancying and people friendships. I went back a 4th time for their Sunday Brunch.Lo! There was a tv screen flashing the menu at me! It was their usual stuff plus some brunchier items like the PB Waffle Extravaganza. A waffle covered by a stick of dry peanut butter and some chocolatiness. Vegan, of course. The squash curry was very homey-like in a Japanese home kind of way (yes I'm mostly Chinese but I know!) I went back a 5th time and I can't remember posting a food photo that needed no adjustment of brightness, contrast, exposure, etc. Likewise, it tastes and textures so explicitly yummy I cannot imagine a more perfect incarnation of these two dishes. The temperature, the soft chewy crispness, the sweetly savory blend of saliva inducing goodness. The Juicy Brew chef is just that good. Beet Curry! Inspired by Sri Lanka. I was like what are those potato like things in the curry and she was like Ulu (breadfruit!) I love Indian curry! I love beets! Together is uncannily good! And the breakfast croissant sandwich with chicken organic sausage, egg white, cheese, and spinach was so perfectly punctuated I was almost dazzled. I went back a 6th time and I feel like I'm in the magical version of a Korean food where yes, there are 8 dozen ingredients and I can recognize about 6 of them, but it's not too wet, not too spicy, not too complex, somehow both vegan and very tasty, somehow both gluten free and satisfying, somehow all made freshly from the arms of one tiny hapa woman from veggies from small kine farmers, and somehow not break the bank expensive. Oh and it's walking distance from me. My favorite noodle! Yam noodle chewy and a little thick and transparent and she made it fuchsia to boot! I heard there was jackfruit, sea asparagus, tofu, sunchoke, Miso ginger, watermelon radish, and and and I'm sorry I didn't get a photo of the rest of the ingredients! I've tried the no-bake chocolate dipped, the no-bake tiramisu, and the no-bake matcha dessert, but somehow I just can't let go my American penchant for condensed milky oversweetness. There are two four-top tables and six stools facing Waialae avenue if you want to eat in. Parking is on the street, there's usually something in the neighborhood. IF you want to pay the meter, park on Waialae. You'll like Juicy Brew if: You love Kaimuki Suprette but you're one of those gluten-free people and can't eat sandwiches. Need to eat out with someone vegan, allergic to wheat, allergic to some food or other? Totally compromise and go to Juicy Brew! I have been waiting for the Kaimuki location to open as I haven't been able to make out to their other shop so on opening day I got myself over here and went on a shopping binge. Now I knew going in this was healthy food but to be perfectly honest, the menu was more broad than expected and had a good amount of choices to appease even the biggest health food or vegan skeptic. Vegan baba ganoush, two different vegan curries, pitaya chia tapioca, vegan burrito and breakfast sandwiches along with lots of baked goods donned the case when I came in. They also did have meat choices like an organic chicken pesto melt, an organic Italian sausage breakfast sandwich along with a turkey breakfast sandwich. Fresh squeezed juicers were made to order in house which was lovely. There were also various salads. I wound up ordering a juice, a muffin, the chicken pesto & Italian breakfast sausage sandwiches and a chickpea & kale curry for my boyfriend and I to share. My juice was healthy & refreshing, both sandwiches delicious. I took the muffin and curry to work the next day fur lunch and was more satisfied than I would expect for having no meat. The menu rotates but I don't think you can come on a bad day. They have something to make everyone happy. Parking is a bit annoying but I'd say looking on the side streets is worth it. Very thankful for this vegan place, but it's simply not as yummy as it was a couple years ago with a different owner. The brunch your face off selections used to be incredible, and it was so much fun how it changed weekly. There was a freshness and lightness about all of the dishes. Service here was great. Called to place an order to pick up the food was ready upon arrival. I ordered the split pea soup. Well seasoned cooked to perfection. This is honestly the best split pea soup I've had before. It's seriously that good! Also i tried the Korean burger. I've never had this type of burger before so i don't know what to compare it to. I do think it's too much going on with the burger it's like grilled vegetables etc on top of a patty, not sure what the patty was made of but it was super hard i could hardly break it apart with my hands. Went for date day sunday brunch. Healthy vegan vegetarian spot. Parking: Street its a small place with a few table tops and bar stools. You can buy premade food to go or get drinks and hot foods prepared. i didn't ask if there was wifi available. got a golden milk without expresso and was delicious. Got the egg scramble (pictured) which was DELICIOUS. It was like eating yellow egg dumpling texture deliciousness! there was so much flavor, and all the flavors complimented each other. There was enough chew textures between the foods so it all didn't taste like mush in your mouth...thats a good thing. the bread, if it was unleavened bread, not sure, (I should have taken a picture of the menu, oh well) was amazing. it has the texture like a thick pound cake biscuit and soaked up all the sauces. Living in a state that isn't too health conscious or even knowledgeable about diets outside of the local cuisine, its really difficult to find a place specific to vegan diets. This was my first time trying juicy brew ! It has a very small seating area so I'd recommend taking out. Basically you order at the counter and find somewhere to self seat. That's the only downside of eating here, you're not actually being served so its confusing if its your first time. The Loco Moco was great ! The mushroom gravy compliments the "meaty" texture of the patty. In place of a runny egg is a tofu scramble (what vegan doesn't love a tofu scramble?!). I look forward to coming back to try something new ! Also, I'm not vegan but I enjoy vegan food and clean eating. I stumbled upon juicy brew after a great surf session with some friends. I normally wouldn't have picked out a vegan place, I was really craving some eggs and bacon. My first choice was a cafe in kakaako, egghead which was closed. My surf friend who is vegan recommended juicy brew and oh am I glad she did. I had the brunch wafflewich and a latte with chai syrup. Both were amazing. The waffle was great, definitely better than my attempts at home (how did it do this without eggs???). I'm not honestly sure what was in the wafflewich but it was delicious and really hit the spot. Totally redefining my concept of what vegan food can be. When on Oahu, this is a fave of mine. The one reviewer who criticized for use of plastic, needs to get a grip. She has no idea what the owner of this company does to minimize their carbon footprint. Unfortunately, it's not as easy as just "going plastic free" for restaurants; but unless you're in the business, you wouldn't know that, which makes the review that much more ridiculous. The best part about her review was that she publicly blasted the restaurant here, and then got upset when the owner publicly defended their business on social media. What do you expect? Had you gone to the owner FIRST, they wouldn't have had a reason to publicly defend themselves and you wouldn't be looking like the back side of a horse. I started going to Juicy Brew with my bf, Andy, on weekends, and this place blew me away. I started when they were making these great "Wafflewich" meals with sauces so awesome, and changing it up the next week with a sauerkraut one with creative touches and deep soul quenching flavors. Looking for delicious, healthy, well made vegetarian/vegan food? This is it. I finally made it and I'm going back again this week to try more of their amazing food. I eat meat/fish too but given the choice I prefer to eat vegetarian (I was 100% veggie for 10 years) and this place is everything I look for in a vegetarian restaurant. I have passed this place a hundred times thinking "Hmmm, a coffee joint I should check out sometime", not knowing the true treasures that this tiny little shop holds. Then on this one fateful day, I had time to kill and as I was driving by, there was a lone parking stall available right in front of the shop and I found myself pulling into it. Now, I usually ALWAYS check a place out on Yelp first and actually PLAN first-time stop-ins but this was one time that was totally spur-of-the-moment and boy, was I glad for it! I walk in and find a display case full of pre-packed foods and drinks and as I scan it I realize that I was looking at a trove of vegan and vegetarian goodies! This was fate! If you've read any of my previous reviews, you'd know that i'm always in search of vegan and vegetarian fare so that I know of where to find them whenever i'm in that particular area. I wanted to grab one of everything here but I finally decide on trying a number of things that would tie my over throughout the weekend: vegan pasta marinara, vegan polenta with gravy mushrooms and veggies, soba salad and some blueberry tapioca (that the owner so kindly packed fresh for me straight from the kitchen). Then to my absolute delight, I find that they sold Golden Milk Lattes here! That was a definite must because i'm turmeric obsessed. Needless to say, I was pretty stoked leaving this place and totally excited to try my all the goodies over the weekend. I was not disappointed one bit. Everything I picked up here was amazingly delicious! As for that latte, simply heavenly. I only wish there were more parking stalls available (although i'd gladly walk blocks to get here if I had to). The menu is ever changing and the choices are extensive so it's totally worth it. OMG I loved going to Juicy Brew! I think cute little Whole-IN-The-Walls are beyond awesome and Juicy Brew lives up to that! I decided to come here with a girlfriend who accompanies me on my quest of trying out restaurants around Oahu. I ordered the vegan tofu quiche with hash.... WOW, yummy! The quiche was well seasoned and oh so smooth, the hash, just as perfect. The best part is that it was gluten and dairy free. It's so awesome when you can find a spot that fits your dietary needs and you don't feel like you're missing out. The service was spot on and they made the meal sit in and eat friendly for me. Most of their items are packaged for to go service but they will heat it up for you if you want to stay and eat! I've reviewed JB before, but this review is for the catering they did for my baby shower. My friends know I'm a loyal customer at Jbrew so didn't have to think twice about where to order the food for my surprise baby shower. Our spread included vegan quiche, pad Thai, jackfruit baos served with spicy vegan aioli and tofu poke. They worked with Chris, one of the Hee sisters to put together the menu and I was absolutely delighted when I found out they catered from one of my favorite vegan restaurants. Being the only vegan, I had no worries that the rest of the girls were gonna love the food, and every single one of them devoured and enjoyed every dish. Everyone raved how tasty the food was and how the jackfruit was a great substitute for traditional pork. I'm glad the girls had fantastic vegan food and didn't once notice the absence of animal protein or products. Now I know where to cater all my party food for any occasion!! read more

I was there this past week and one of the girls working there said to the other that there is dish detergent in the prepared food. And she put disgustingly scented synthetic chemicals heavily at their station all over their floor, which smelled worse than the rest of the lobby. I didn't expect a vegan/natural foods place to be using such products, it is contradictory and I wouldn't trust that their food or drink preparation is sound based on her excessive synthetic chemical usage. Their worker who used all those synthetic carcinogens heavily at the place should continue working at a business more suitable to her inclination to use toxic, scented products instead of in natural foods. Food she handled would certainly be contaminated, and so she should be working at another place instead of the cafe. read more

It's so hard to find good vegetarian in this town. And the decent places serve vegetarian trying to be meat dishes; e.g., overuse of seitan, TVP, and salt! In delightful contrast, the dishes I tried at Juicy were simply good food and flavors that happen not to have meat in them. The vegetable bowl was a combination of various beans and vegetables with some pickled to give it a nice zing. It wasn't so green that you felt like an ungulate chewing its cud, and it was satisfying. I also tried the vegan loco moco. I know, I just snobbed "meat replacement" foods, but the vegan loco moco was not trying to be its meaty doppelgänger. Instead it successfully represented the concept and flavors. If you didn't know it was a "loco moco" you'd like it anyway for what it was. The only black mark this place gets is for service. The ladies behind the register were nice, but totally clueless about the menu, food, and how to work the register. One customer almost lost his cool. Still, even with the same service, I'd be back. UPDATE: One of the Chefs reached out to me on this review and apologized for the service. I upping my review to 5 stars! Just a vegan from Dallas that stumbled upon this wonderful place. The Loco Moco literally rocked my taste buds. Soooo good and well portioned. I eat a lot but could only eat half at one time.
