Jules maes was always my favorite in Georgetown when I went to art school in the area a few years ago. Come the pandemic, and of course I wasn't going anywhere for awhile. Vaccinated, and venturing out again we came back. Some of the remodels were surprising and the place for music in the back was really cool! They seem to be focusing a lot on community building which wasn't as much of a thing before. After feeling isolated so long I can use a bit of community. I can only say about my experience but normally you have to make allowances for restaurants since the pandemic. I didn't have to here. The service was prompt and amazing, and the burger was one of the best ones I've had in a long time. It was a very good experience! Oh and they have trivia night on mondays. Food was mediocre at best. Really cool bar and great ambiance with how old it is. Would have been cool to just have drinks here. Back room with a few arcades was fun. I got the poutine. It was on store bought, once frozen tater tots. My friend got a house salad with chicken that tasted like fosters frozen chicken. 3rd friend had the special, cheesesteak. I'm a fan of Jules Maes Saloon. It's not my favorite of the Georgetown bars, but it ranks up there in my rotation. Yes, I have a rotation - don't judge. Jules Mae is an older saloon and it has that feel. It has high backed booths along the side, fixed barstools along the bar, and a variety of tables in the center. It is rather empty during the day but as the night carries on more and more people will start filtering in. It will become crowded. There's a parking lot nearby in the back of the restaurant. I find it also fills up fast, but if you get there by 4 PM you'll find plenty of free parking. The staff is hit and miss. Some days I have been there where everyone is cheery and other days where people are aloof. The nice thing is the ambiance is casual and they tend to leave you be which I like. There's no pressure, they make sure your cups don't run dry, and they don't dally making small talk. Some times I just don't want to make small talk. The drinks are stiff. I am a Moscow Mule fan and I have never left thinking that their drinks were more ginger beer than vodka. It has been a lovely mixture. I am a fan of their grilled cheese when I order food here. It is nice, thick bread, gooey cheese. I often don't order food here though. It is a good location, a fine bar, and a nice place to sit with friends. I have come here with crowds of fifteen people and as few as me and one other. I have always had a good time here. read more

Came here as a recommendation and looked forward to the spicy chicken waffle sandwich. Service: Not great, but not completely awful. Greeted and seated, but the attention immediately went to a larger party that came in shortly after (kind of looks bad especially if it's just two parties there). The other person was busy chatting with the chef -- took the chef to hint that I looked ready to order. Food: the spicy chicken waffle sandwich was quite disappointing. I enjoyed the batter of the waffle, slightly sweet with possibly a hint of cinnamon. I would have enjoyed the waffle slightly more crispy, since the buffalo sauce and syrup made it a soggy disaster. The goat cheese complimented the other two sauces. All of this and the dim lights could not mask that the spicy chicken batter was burnt -- don't worry the chicken itself was fine (not juicy, not overcooked, just fine). The day we went the street was closed for Rainier Day. Bacon wrapped shrimp is a good portion but comes with cheap cheese. Mac and cheese with brisket is a must order. The whiskey burger was great. Loved our old fashioneds. One thing is our server changed and we were never notified. Also two people sharing food, our order was pretty clear we were sharing food the server didnt bring us small plates. So I just grabbed them myself. The front space was full so we headed to the back room which in my opinion is better due to the pinball machines, large chalkboard, Pac-Man and music! The food was delicious and drinks were strong. Went to Jules Maes for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised! After trying to visit another restaurant in the area and being told it'd be a two hour wait, we kind of just stumbled online and found somewhere that sounded good - turns out it's the oldest saloon in Seattle! I got the Pork Wing Mac - the presentation was cool and the meal itself was delicious. That being said, I do wish the pork was diced or something throughout the dish instead of it just being a whole thing on top of your mac and cheese. Service was great and there was hardly a wait to receive our food. I'm looking forward to returning and trying a few more of their menu items! read more

This is one of my favorite "tavern" type bars in Seattle! The interior is gorgeous and the staff are great. Obviously they have a great selection of beer and cocktails, but what really sets them apart is the food! I highly recommend the Monte Cristo during brunch hours and Beef Stroganoff for dinner. Portions are quite generous here. They also have shows or karaoke nearly every day in the back room. Definitely a must when you're in Georgetown. read more

Hmm... We've been here 3x since new management, and each time is exactly as mediocre as the time before... The service and drinks are hit-miss (and some of the liquor, including stuff that is not "top shelf," is irrationally overpriced--ask before you order)... I was a fan of the previous ownership, gave the new folks the benefit of the doubt... And, maybe this is all because of the dining restrictions... But, somehow doubt it, as this is the only place on the block operating under-capacity, even at peak-times. read more

This bar has a fun atmosphere with great food! I love their GOAT Pizza, which is essentially topped with gooey onions and goat cheese. Jules has seasonal drinks as well- we had some really creative drinks in October for Halloween like Dracula's Punch. The bar looks small from the outside, but goes back fairly far and opens up into a media room and bonus room with some pinball machines. The only bummer is that the past few times we've been the back room has been rented out, so pinball wasn't an option. Honestly not sure how this place gets such high reviews. Certainly not for the food. The pictures are deceiving y'all. Don't fall for it. Had the spicy chicken and waffle sandwich. It was not spicy at all. Not even remotely in a "flavorful" sense. It appeared to have some mild tobacco drizzled on top? The chicken was dry. I mean overall the whole sandwich was dry and desperately was crying out for syrup or even more of that miserable tabasco that I'm assuming inspired the "spicy". To offset the "spiciness" there was some cream cheese at the bottom of the sandwich, which mainly just made the waffle a bit off-putting. Really disappointed as the picture online made it seem so flavourful and juicy. Also had the tater tot poutine. Meh. Not flavorful. They didn't even bother to season the tots. Ultimately, $25 for a burger, tots, and iced tea is just too much. I realize the cost of doing business in Seattle is high. I love Georgetown and want it to thrive. I want this place to thrive. The old timey western/dive bar atmosphere is neat. The woodwork on the bar is spectacular. The menu selections are interesting and diverse - almost but not quite schizophrenic. Salmon bahn mi and western bacon cheeseburgers, oh my. All three burger options are $16. I had the western whisky burger (did I mention it was $16?). The bun was great, the toppings crisp and fresh. The burger was medium well, overdone in my book, and they didn't ask how I'd like it cooked. The bacon jam was very tasty, albeit profoundly salty. The tots were frozen grocery-store-brand, but fried perfectly. You could tell their oil was super clean. The iced tea was just iced tea, but cost $3. The service was good - more hipster than old timey historical pub, but not rude by any stretch. So that's that. Pretty good, honestly, but not $25 for a burger, tots, and iced tea good. At $15 that'd have been 4 star experience, easy. read more
