I really wanted to like this place, so I visited a few times before posting this review. It's an average bar with average service and above average prices. A pint of beer will cost you $8.50 with tax but without tip, so that's basically $10! Service was a bit slow and not too friendly, but definitely not rude. Love coming to the Siren for a few after work drinks and games of darts. They have plenty of machines always available. You won't find these many dart machines in many places. Bartenders are always super nice and friendly. Love the outdoors area as well, especially if you smoke (my friend does) it's a nice chill spot with a fire pit. This place is definitely on the "divey" side but the food is great! On busy weekends they have a cook but during the week the bartender will also cook for you. Burgers never disappoint! Honestly I was excited to try this spot. I was in from out of town and searching walkable bars with food. This place looks cool and it is! The unfortunate thing is when I arrived there was one poor woman handling EVERYTHING. If she isn't the owner someone left her out to dry tonight because she easily had to handle 30+ people's drinks AND she'd be running to make food in the bars kitchen area. She was clearly overwhelmed and sadly after about 30 minutes of going unnoticed at the bar. I left with an empty stomach and no drinks. I hate leaving reviews this low but I hope ownership sees it because the woman tonight needs help. She can't handle this alone nor should she have to. I'm sure the place is great otherwise. I recently went to Siren to play on their dart boards. They've got special boards here that I don't normally play on, so a friend and I went there to spend the morning getting some practice in. I'm gonna be real with y'all - ya girl was HUNGOVER as all hell coming to this place. I was at the point where nothing was going to help besides hair of the dog, so... A Bloody Mary it was. I asked for it a tad spicy and it came prettttyyyy spicy, but my stomach also wasn't at it's normal state that day, so who knows. They come topped with olives, bacon, and pepperoni. At first I wasn't digging that, but after I sucked some of the drink down and came alive again, the bacon was tasting really good! Staff is friendly, they've got tons of space, and there's a solid food menu (didn't order but lots sounded good). Definitely a hole-in-the-wall spot. Don't expect to walk into something fancy, it's definitely just a dive but it's fun, fairly clean, and prices are fair. We'll be back! read more

Overall, the bartender was super friendly. I stopped here while I was waiting on my partner. It is severely understaffed in my opinion. Upon arrival, I only saw one bartender. She was wonderful, and super nice. But, she was so busy due to short staff, that a lot of the dishes were dirty. NOT HER FAULT AT ALL! My food order was a little messed up, but I didn't find it to be a big deal since she was so busy and all by herself. I wanted a turkey and bacon sandwich and I only received turkey. And then I wanted cheese fries bit was handed mozarella sticks in which I ended up not touching. I am not trying to bash on the service here, as I feel like I would be overwhelmed if I was in her place. The bartender did a wonderful job, and was on top of everything as best as she could be. This is my "home bar." Connie is very involved with her patrons and works hard to keep us happy. The bartenders are friendly and quick to learn your drink of choice. Go on Wed. - Sun. and ask Lisanne to make you a Bloody Mary if you like them. Hers are the very best! There are two pool tables, lots of dart boards (with a league) and poker on Monday nights. They serve big'o burgers, sandwiches, salads and more. There is always a food and drink special to tempt you. The Siren is named for and pays tribute to the Fire Station across the street. You will find fireman, long shore-man and other hard working people hanging out. The regulars are awesome people whom you will love. ***UPDATE*** It's the Fall season of 08' and five years after discovering this fabulous bar, I still call it home. If you are real this is where you will feel at home. Have you ever wanted to find a dingy bar that has been around for ions, which is bigger than you'd expect, that is sandwiched between a teriyaki place and a mart that sells a shit ton of bad porn, and is home to a dart league? Let me introduce you to The Siren Tavern. If you can picture the interior of the bar I'm sure you will have no trouble imagining the clientele. Yes, they are older and yes, they like to start their drinking at 10:00am and yes, you shouldn't be surprise if you see a genuine mullet and trucker hat here. I've been there twice and both times only I and the bartender had vaginas. Not so many of the ladies drop by. The last time I was there I had a Ruben sandwich and it was all sorts of terrible. Many years ago, there was a dude named Dave who went by Sound-guy Dave or even Sound-dude Dave, who worked at Studio Seven where my band, Stay Tuned, practices. Dave liked Stay Tuned. He said we were "like sausage." Whatever that means. We liked Dave, because we also like sausage. Dave was one of those dudes who was totally charismatic and could make you smile with his "RAAAD DUDE I LOVE YOU!" attitude. He was also high most of the time (no longer! Dave has been sober for many years now, as of the last time I ran into him! CONGRATS DUDE I LOVE YOU!), had really neat dreads, and would come in and fix our sound in our practice room without us asking. After my mom passed away, I was in serious need of cheering up. I was at Studio Seven, and Dave sees me and we get to talking. He offers to buy me a beer and do what he can to help me cope. So we walk up the road, cross the tracks, and lo and behold, here's the Siren Tavern, blocks from our practice rooms. Dave bought a round, and proceeded to show me how good he was at the fishing video game. He rambled and talked and joked and imparted wisdom about life and loss. And kicked ass digitally fishing, and got the high score. I made a mental note that should the world end, I'd choose Dave to be on my team, if anything cuz he could feed us with his mad fishing skills. Assuming that they translate to real life, of course. Years later, Dave no longer works at Studio Seven (though I occasionally run into him elsewhere). We are at practice, and our drummer mentions that for the first time in months he actually has an hour or two to kill between his full time job and his duties as owner of the Waterwheel. We wrap up practice early and I drag my bandmates up to the Siren to drink some beers and throw some darts. Yes folks, throw some darts. If the Siren Tavern should be known for anything, it should be known as a haven for dart monkeys. I'm a fan of darts, I've found. I'm actually not bad. Neither is our drummer. We had a couple matches, I won one, he won one, and Phil E., our keyboardist didn't win any. However, he did win a plate of nachos on me. It took the kitchen a bit to remember we had ordered them, which kinda sucked, but they were good when they came. The Siren also has Moose Drool on tap, as well as some other pretty killer beers. And booze. And pull tabs. We didn't win anything though. If you're not a fan of throwing sharp objects at big round shapes, you can play pool. There's a jukebox as well. It's less than a 5 minute walk from my work and the staff are wonderful, I'm always comfortable there, the service is prompt, and when I used to work swing shift I could always come in late at night on a weekday for some very entertaining conversation with both the patrons and the staff. read more

To.anyone that seen the last review I had to apologze.to Connie since she had one particular individual Jeff who is just a nuisance got me to a level I never wanted to get to...i got loud and very pissed off to how this employees Jeff acted ...i got so mad I wasn't able to call down when the owner said hey chill out putting it nicely but this man just keeps on lying and antagonizing to he's nothing but trouble .....i must say I'm very happy he does not work there anymore for all he is is trouble ...i repeat be careful.as I say later in the post di do not go there if he's in there as a customer he's trouble and will cause many problems The staff and everyone here is a.good person I hate.to do this Connie bit I do feel it's great that Jeff has left I would not recommend anyone to go there again if and when Jeff is working i also heard.from a few poker players.they didn't like how he acts and he has went off a couple times while playing poker because he got took out this is a great bar but this individual and I will totally out this man under the bus...this individual.will antagonize you to where he can cause issues and get you thrown out of a bar I am surprised he hasn't been given an attitude adjustment by someone.... Great dive located in the industrial district/SODO. The place has ample space to people watch and is filled with dartboards, billiards, pull tabs, and a stellar jukebox selection. The bartender Connie is a gem. Not often do I find myself in a dive getting the attention that she pays to her customers. The fries are solid (pressure fryer makes the difference) though I have yet to eat anything else. Basic pub food (sammies and fried foods). Our office seems to always have a dive bar within a block. This office in SODO is no exception. From the outside, it's pretty scarey looking. But if it's night time and your in SODO, go inside this place where it's safe and warm. The staff is great, they always have something on the darkish side on tap for me. Beer is always fresh, and the food is pretty good. I am neither a longshoreman nor do I shop at Jcrew, but a bunch of office geeks walk in there all the time and the longshoreman and fireman don't seem to mind us in their bar. read more

I have been going to the Siren for nearly 4 years now. The Siren tries to be: a low key place, with dart boards, pool tables, pull tabs, juke box, very fairly priced drinks, great customer service, some good food items, a back patio area and overall a very accepting environment. Mission Accomplished! 5 Stars. This establishment looks like a hole in the wall from the outside. And don't get me wrong, it is a true dive bar. But the food is terrific! The staff is always helpful and attentive. The beer selection is fairly standard but they also have a full bar. The patrons and regulars are really good people, too. Every time I walk in, it feels more like a community than a dive bar. We were "newbies" and were treated just like one. The bartender was Josh and yes, he did cater to his regulars while ignoring us all together. We are bar food critics of our own and chose the fish & chips over our "usual" burger & fries for we had observed the bartender to NOT wash his hands prior to cooking a burrito for another customer. That's just wrong! Yes he put on plastic gloves but that is beside the point. The fish was great! Our service? Well....... we won't be back. The bartender appeared to be "put out" by having to even wait on us. We were continuely ignored and when he did make an effort to drag himself away from behind the kitchen area after shoving food in his mouth he declared he was taking his "union" break and went outside, stood in front of the entrance door, and smoked. Came in and continued to ignore us. We had been playing pull tabs, sitting at the bar right in front of him. He obviosley couldn't see us, for we had to say "excuse me" over and over again. i have been going to sirens for some 13 years now and have always had a great time. I met my husband there almost 10 years ago playing darts. Connie, the owner is the best person you will ever meet. whether your a everyday patron or a just once in a while, like me, patron. she always remembers your name and what you drink. Over the past 13 years i have played darts there on league and for fun. the beer is cold the food is good, and the beer garden is the best around. lots of space and places to sit. connie took the time and spent the money to make sure it was comfortable for everyone. she installed a natural gas heater outside in her covered shelter for those of us that smoke. so during those long winter and cold spring days we always have here in Washington, theres a fun place to go have a cold beer and still keep your toes warm. during the summer she puts out lots of tables and chairs everywhere some with umbrellas, for those who would rather not be in the sun, and many without. if you have never stopped by try it some time. the staff is the best and the owner couldn't be more special. Stop by on a Friday night sometime if you like to play darts, there's a big group of people that come in on Friday about 5 or so and play a bit.
