First impressions are important. The staff at Julie's pulled something off that meant a lot in a time that mattered the most. I visited Julie's last week to drop off my work attire. I was told everything would be ready for pick-up on Saturday (as stated on the receipt) so I stopped in yesterday. The clothes are needed for work on Monday morning. When I handed the cashier my receipt, I was informed that my blouses were ready, but not my pants. I was not happy with this. The owner, Ria, approached me and said she didn't have my pants and asked when I needed them. I explained I work in Center City and wouldn't have time to come by before work on Monday. She said she could meet me at the dry cleaners today (Sunday) and provide the pants. My understanding is they don't dry clean dress slacks on premise. She took down my phone number and said she'd call me. Yesterday evening I got a phone call from Ria saying she had 4 pairs of pants ready and was willing to drop them off to me at my doorstep. I didn't know what to say. She drove from her home to get me my pants and hand them to me. The customer service blew me away. Ria said I would get a text message indicating when I could pick up the remaining pairs of pants. I'm sure you could imagine how displeased I could've been walking away from this business, but Ria was quick to turn a negative experience around and make sure I was a happy client. Recently we had a family wedding and my sister purchased a gown from dress up time on frankford Ave. They sent her here with an expensive gown. They ruined the gown the tailoring was all wrong. The inside seams were sticking out. She could barely move her arms. Her daughter also went there where she was humiliated by the women screaming at her that she was crazy for buying that size dress. And she proceeded to ruin her dress to. Do not go here they are incompetent and rude. read more

First let me start by saying that everybody here is extremely professional and nice. The alterations myself and my daughter had on my sisters bridesmaids dresses are the reasons I'm giving two stars. We chose to go here instead of David's bridal thinking it would be cheaper. It may have been slightly less, but not much. My daughter needed to have her straps taken in. 10 minutes into the reception both straps completely broke from the dress. I had to have my straps taken in and my dress hemmed. When I tried on the dress I was still tripping over it it was so long, I had to bring it back and have it fixed again and they gave me no problem in doing so. I thought that was really good customer service, but my straps fell down all night long. Bottom line, the alterations were crappy for the price. I would go here to have things dry cleaned, but never alterations again. read more

If I could give Julie's ten stars, I totally would. I haven't had much dry cleaning done here, but that's because I don't own many things that are dry cleanable. The dry cleaning I *have* had done has been impeccable, though, with them trying more than once to remove stains at no extra charge. They are even accommodating with my quirks of asking for no wire hangers or plastic coverings on my cleaning (I bring my own plastic hangers - save the planet, man!). What truly makes Julie's a superstar in my book is the alterations. I've had several items altered here - pants hemmed and waists taken in, and even a few more "unique" projects like adding ruffle trim to the bottom of a dress that had stains that refused to come out, and altering a fancy little girl's dress for Christmas. Ria, the owner, is always up for the challenge, and they do incredible work. I always know when I pick up my items that you would have no idea they'd been altered at all. They're that good! Always friendly, and willing to accommodate rush jobs if necessary, even at their busiest times of the year. They are easily accessible, in the same building as the Wawa at Frankford and Linden, and walkable from my house. I am super picky about alterations, and I won't go anywhere else! I had a jacket that needed special modifications ( concealed carry). I took the jacket to this establishment and spoke with a gentleman from India who spoke in broken English but seemed to understand my needs. The price quoted was extremely reasonable,and he also asked if i wanted him to press it,no charge of course I said yes. I admit I was a bit skeptical because of the language barrier. But last gown both my friend n I got fitted for wedding was too long n we asked to b hemmed she thought it would b fine said it was sweeping the floor it was not fine we were tripping over the gown the entire wedding. I've been a customer of Julie's for years and years. Her shop is attached to the Wawa at Frankford and Linden. Julie herself is almost always there, and she's a really pleasant woman. I think her son works there, too, as well as a few other people, and they're always really nice. The store is small and not much to look at, but it's a dry cleaner's, so it doesn't need to be fancy. What's important is that my clothes always come back fresh, clean, and perfectly pressed in no time flat. Her prices are really reasonable. My favorite service is the tailoring. I always take clothes to Julie for alterations. She does a perfect job, even on difficult thing like hemming a pleated skirt (yes, back in the day, I went to Catholic school). She's also really good at cleaning weird fabrics like suede. She should get 6 stars, I like her that much. read more

I had my daughter's prom dress altered here and they did a great job. The dress needed to be taken in and it had an open back so, it was a little tricky to get it right but she did. We also had bra cups sewn into the dress and the entire dress was beaded and she fixed all the loose beads(there were a lot, we bought it second hand) for far less than any of the other quotes I had received. I brought it in about less than a week and a half prior to the wedding and I was worried because it needed a bit of work done to it and was also 100% sequins. We have been using Julie's for a while because they got great reviews and we needed a dry cleaner that also does good alterations. We were very happy until recently. First we gave them a shirt with a stained collar - they didn't get the stain out after two tries and didn't say anything about why; just gave the shirt back as if they had cleaned it. Then I asked for the hem on a pair of pants to be fixed - the pants were dry cleaned but the hem was never fixed (even though I paid for the repair). Then I went to pickup some dry cleaning yesterday - the employee at the counter seemed confused at first when I gave him the ticket but then handed me six shirts and charged me 7.95. I thought I might be missing a piece from my order but I left anyway. Halfway home I remembered that I didn't get a sweater back. I called right away and I spoke with the manager who also seemed confused. She asked if I needed the sweater that night - I told her said no and when I asked when it would be ready, she said she would call me back. My husband called today and found out that she gave the sweater to another customer. She told him she needed a few days to get it back - she apologized but didn't offer any consolation for the trouble. Needless to say as soon as we get the sweater back (IF we get it back) we are finding a new dry cleaner. read more

Julie's had really good reviews and that was the reason I went here for alterations to a bridesmaid dress. I needed the dress to be taken in a bit and I wanted it hemmed (it was an awkward length). The fee for taking the dress in was reasonable, but they wanted to charge $30 for a simple hem. This was very disappointing because although I wanted the dress shorter, I ended up having to opt out. I asked her why it would be so much and she told me it was more work than it looks like. Then, I told them I needed the dress by a certain day, and to my concern, the woman told me it would be ready that day (which obviously worried me in case there was an issue or they didn't finish it on time). But she insisted it would be ready, so I took the gamble. When I went to go pick up the dress, the woman was on the phone and ignored me for about 2 minutes before deciding to acknowledge I was there. In terms of the actual dress, it came out fine. But their customer service caused me to not want to return. read more

I took a beautiful black and white gown to get cleaned and when I got it back the white part of my dress was not white anymore. The black bled through to the white. I took it back and the person at Julie's told me it happens and nothing could be done. I don't understand if the dress was dry cleaned how a material would bleed. He said it happens. Well if you know it happens why not tell me that When I dropped it off to get cleaned and let me make that decision whether to get it cleaned or not.
