This is a cute place, but I wouldn't come here again of my own volition. For some reason they only take cash, and I had to pay for my friends because only I carried cash. Honestly, who even carries cash anymore? I'm surprised I had some on me. The enchilada fajita plate that I ordered was a little underwhelming. I felt the portions to be a bit small for the price I was paying. The beef fajita meat was dry, but the enchilada was tasty. Flavors were generally pretty good, and I enjoyed the soup my friend ordered. Walk up to counter, peruse menu, order...and add a cold Dos Equis. Take your number THEN pick a table (very boldly stated on front door). Wait 5 minutes...really...and plates of food are delivered to your table. Eat. Guisado Plate with rice, beans, and tortillas. Beef could have used a little more seasoning and consisted of a few chunks of nothing but fat (gag). Gravy was tasty but a bit in the thin side, beans runny (apologies for any images that might have evoked) and bland. Overall, A-OK; however, they've got nada on Rosie's Tamale House in the Guisada department (I promise, it is worth the drive & and it's BYOB)! I was told Julio's is "known" for the yard-bird, so had to try! 1/2 Roasted Chicken a la Carte (a whopping 75 cents more than the quarter chic so why, just why would you?) served with 3 flour tortillas, (I got four! Nah! Nah!), and it came with a heaping pile of lettuce and tomato with a small cup of house salsa on the side. Super moist and fall of the bone poultry, well seasoned skin (the worst best part to eat - always), but nothing super exceptional than most other roasted chicken....except the $6.75 price tag attached to it!!! I wish I could add a half star just for the best deal ever, but unfortunately Yelp won't allow me. Sniff. Quite the bargain for pretty good eats! This is my go-to place whenever I'm hungry and not in the mood to cook. The food tastes so good. I found some really good vegetarian options here. I'm new to Austin, but somehow good vegetarian options are hard to find in Austin. I have tried veggie tacos, Spanish rice, pinto beans, vegetarian quesadilla, and lemonade. It all tastes so good, I especially liked the pinto beans with Spanish rice. I know there are similarities and differences between Mexican and Indian cuisines, but Spanish rice with Pinto beans tastes so familiar and homelike (comparable with Rajma Chawal back in India). The owner and staffs are very friendly, I would like to thank them for always giving me a good meal and a wonderful time!!
