    Curry Goat
    Risa H.

Jumieka is located inside of the Hugh. I ordered the Curry Goat and was a bit disappointed by the taste/quality of the food. There were many bits of small bones, big bones, inedible cut up bay leaves (as opposed to whole bay leaves which are easier to pick out), sticks, huge pieces of fat and tendons...there was less sauce than I wanted and more rice than meat. The spice and flavor in general was very mild - I had some amazing goat curry recently and wanted to try Jumieka's, but it just wasn't hitting the spot for me.

Jumieka is worth more than 5 stars! Service is super friendly and kind. Food is absolutely delicious. Located at The Hugh so you will never have to worry about where to sit to enjoy your food. AMAZING everything and I highly recommend this place! Will definitely return again and again and again.

Went to The Hugh to pick up some food and decided to give Jumieka a try. Ordered the Jerk Chicken with rice & peas and it was pretty darn good. The chicken was super moist and flavorful. At $18 the price is a little steep, but you do get a good amount of chicken. My only regret is that I should've asked for extra jerk sauce because they don't give you much and the rice was a bit dry.

Overall I thought everything was pretty good! Well cooked and the sauce had a good kick. I wish the dish ratio was a bit better (there was a bit too much rice and not enough meat). It wasn't too busy when we went for dinner and the service was pretty quick! The Hugh is a very nice place to sit and eat, we really enjoyed it.

This is a solid spot I love the Caribbean vibe they got going on. There's a lot of different cultures in this food hall and this is a great addition. I love the Jerk Chicken Burrito. That's my go to dish. My mom had me try it and it's the bomb. I love the presentation of it. With all the sauces on top. Inside it's loaded with rice & peas, cabbage, and jerk chicken. Service is on point. I just wish they added a little more jerk chicken in there.

Was walking around the food court in The Hugh, I stumbled upon this Jamaican vendor, which advertised that they're known for their Jerk Burrito, so I ended up ordering the Jerk Burrito with Chicken ($17). Overall it's not bad. You need to eat it with a fork and knife as they put sauce on top of the burrito.

Tasty. Stopped by The Hugh to check out the restaurants and got the beef patty and chicken roti wrap. Beef patty hit the spot (and is a great snack size) and so did the plantains that came with the wrap, but the wrap was a little salty for my taste. Would def come again to try the jerk chicken, oxtail, and speciality drinks!

Located in the Hugh Food Hall along with many other restaurants, I hadn't actually planned on eating here. However, a half hour past when my chosen restaurant was supposed to open, they said it would be another half hour. So after wandering, the inviting scents lured me toward Jumieka. The staff was incredibly friendly. From the woman that took my order to the gentleman that were preparing more food for the day and singing along to the reggae music playing and came over to "cheer" with our beverages, it was a great atmosphere. I only ordered a beef patty and a drink, but I was very happy with the flavor and the spice level. It's a favorite treat of mine and theirs didn't disappoint. At $6, it was enough to fill me up for the time and I think a great deal. I chose to sit at their bar which looks into the kitchen. I really enjoyed watching them prepare more food and as mentioned above watch them singing alone to the music, they clearly enjoy what they do. They also have a couple dedicated tables right behind the bar seating and of course the main Food Hall seating is an option if they are full. Looking forward to trying more on their menu in the future, just seeing it cooked and smelling everything had me wanting more!

03/06/23: Saw this on IG and added to my list to check it out. This is located in a food court type establishment called the Hugh. It literally is next to where I had a doctors appointment talk about food gods answering your prayers. As I entered the Hugh and walked down the stairs I pondered which way to go but low and behold took the right path and as I round the corner the reggae music vibes assaulted me. Scoooore. Reviewed their menu and decided to try the Jerkito Burrito. Really wanted the fish but chose chicken as the scent of fish wouldn't go over well in office setting.. lol. Asked if it was spicy she said a bit also ordered the jerk wings. While waiting I sampled their frozen rum punch. My good friends Wray n Nephew are definitely present. Would return for a real size drink. Sooo the jerk burrito..it's huge and heavily stuffed with rice and peas meat and think some form of coke slaw. It was definitely well seasoned and delicious my only complaint I barely tasted any jerk. As Jamaican I love my spice no where near real jerk but I get it they have to tone it down for the masses. I ate half and had the other half at home for dinner. Same for the "jerk wings" as least the burrito had some jerk spice and a kick these wings taste like bbq chicken. Still tasty but when I see jerk chicken I expect some form of spicyness. As I waited vibed with some of the workers singing old school tunes. It definitely is a nice spot and would definitely return.

The Hugh is slept on as one of the best upscale food halls in the city. To be fair, it's really hard to keep track of all of them, but this is one of the most gorgeous spaces, and filled with some of the best food vendors to boot. They count the amazing handroll spot Kazu Nori and bakery Mah Ze Dahr among their restaurants so you know the eateries are curated very well. The many options made it hard to choose, but I wanted punchy, in your face flavors, so the Caribbean menu at Jumeika drew me in. As with all food halls, the prices feel pretty exorbitant. I paid $25 for the jerk salmon I ordered, which came with rice & peas. I guess in 2022 that's what you pay for a casual, take out lunch these days. The salmon fillet portion was quite large though and the flavors were on point so I wasn't mad at it. I didn't realize what coco bread was and thought it was a sweet treat and was a little disappointed when I went to pick one up for dessert and found it was just a piece of bread. Photos on the menu would be a welcome addition!

    Curry Chicken

I absolutely love West Indian food. In particular I am a fiend for curry, and can frequently be found walking around with a couple of tumeric-stained fingertips from eating roti with my hands. On island vacations, most of my memorable favorite meals have come not from fancy restaurants or resorts, but from beach huts and roadside patty shops. I had the curry chicken plate from Jumieka for lunch today, and it give exactly those vibes. The chicken is a mix of large pieces of white and dark meat, moist with some fattiness, exactly what you want in a curry. (None of those dry/processed white meat strips here.) The curry sauce itself was super flavorful but maybe slightly (forgivably) over salted. The small bit of slaw on top was perfect; I found myself wishing there was a little more. And the white rice was so fluffy- but next time I will try the rice and peas. The service was quick and pleasant, and the music is great. Will be back for some goat!

    Coconut rum punch
    Tanesha J.

I was coming from a doctors appointment in the area and decided to stop by The Hugh which is a newly designed food hall with 16 restaurants and bars in Midtown Manhattan. I took a quick walk around to see what my taste buds were interested in and found Jumieka. I was skeptical to try it because Jamaican food in these type of commercial spaces typically isn't good or authentic but I was wrong! Jumieka showed up & showed out! Oxtails nowadays are super expensive but I got them anyway and I'm happy that I did because they were absolutely delicious. They weren't fatty, they were seasoned nicely, and was falling off the bone. Everything tasted authentic down to the coconut rum punch. I wanted to get a second drink but I probably would have forgotten where I lived after the second one because that rum was rumming. It was strong, creamy and yummy. I hate leaving negative reviews and I'm so glad I didn't have to. The food, drinks, and music was a total vibe! I might book me a trip to Jamaica just because..... Everything was great! Ronni S.

My girlfriend and I both really enjoyed our jerk fish burritos for lunch. The fish was perfectly cooked and it had just the right amount of seasoning. The burrito was light and fluffy and in addition to the fish, it included rice, beans and cabbage inside. The waitress was friendly, helpful and attentive. We'll definitely be back!

I was seated right near the stairs and could feel cold air from outside every time the door opened, which made the experience uncomfortable. I was also surprised to see how much the cocktail menu had been reduced. When I asked about it, the response was that "the place changed a lot." That's fair -- places evolve -- but instead of highlighting the improvements or new strengths, the explanation focused negatively on what the bar used to be. As someone who really enjoyed the former version, that wasn't reassuring. Unfortunately, the drinks themselves didn't make up for it. One of the two cocktails was simply not good. No one came back to check on the drinks, and when I asked for the check after about 20 minutes, there was no acknowledgment that I had barely touched mine or any inquiry about my experience. Overall, a place I once enjoyed and recommended now feels more like a standard dive bar where " Mixologist " were replaced by bartender and were fun cool looking and tasty drinks were replaced by " less complex cocktail ", lacking the warmth and attention to detail that once made it special.

Since I associated the address with Eleven Madison Park, I wasn't expecting to see items like wings stuffed with sausage, which were done in partnership with Jungsik. The cocktail menu was creative and a little intimidating, with unconventional ingredients like cream cheese and green curry. I went with a fruity Hendrick's-based drink, and my friend ordered the spicy green curry martini. Both were good. Mine didn't taste very strong, but it also wasn't overly sweet because there was enough bitterness to balance it out. The green curry martini was more adventurous but still worked. Service was mixed. There was a woman standing near us, so we tried ordering food with her, but she seemed hesitant to come over. Maybe she wasn't a server or was newer.
