This is such a cozy, unique restaurant in Union Square! We got a reservation for a weekday evening and it was already pretty busy when we arrived, so I'm glad we did. With some recommendations from our lovely server, we ordered some drinks (a cocktail with charred pepper and a grapefruit soda) which were both delicious. As an appetizer we got the shrimp toast, which I saw a lot of other people recommended. It was very unique but tasty! We then of course had to get a pizza, which was called The Grey Stuff - a white base with some mushrooms and many other unique toppings. The dough was a perfect Neapolitan style and the flavor of the pizza was great.. definitely a fun thing to share! We ended the night with some flan, which was tasty but not the most memorable thing. The drinks and the pizza here are definitely the stand-outs to me, and something I'd probably come back for.

Heard really good things about this place after they replaced the last pizza restaurant that was here in union square, so wanted to try it out. We came on New Year's Eve for dinner and got a salad n pizza to share for two people. That portion was the perfect size. We got the kitchen sink salad that the server said was the best seller, but I thought it was just okay. It felt like a salad I could make myself and the croutons were stale. However, the pizza was fantastic. The crust was so light and perfectly cooked, and the nduja was so so good. Definitely better than your average pizza and the prices felt standard for Boston pricing. I'd definitely come back.

Date night at June Bug did not disappoint! Such a cute and cozy atmosphere with friendly staff! Something I will definitely order again is the kitchen sink salad. If you like Italian Sub, tangy dressing, this one is for you! It is sweet and salty and sour and satisfying. I also liked the pizza - I wanna try the other ones but we tried their seasonal apres ski (potato bacon) pizza and their like a pepperoni pizza. Lastly, I tried their flan and it wasn't my favorite :( I prefer more of a light, pudding-like, caramel-forward flan, but it was much more dense. Either way, I'll be back!

Make reservations! That's the best advice I can give. Parking was pretty rough. The tiny lot was about 50% occupied by construction. Another 30% by the outdoor seating pop up. Most of the streets around it are permit only. Get there early because you could spend 20 minutes finding parking. There is a 20% automatic gratuity on every bill. Fortunately the waitress was great. I might be upset if I was charged it and the waitress wasn't good. Tipping is how customers show appreciation or indicate the service was lacking. If it's always added as a flat rate you lose that ability. The mussels appetizer was great. Loved the sauce and the toasted bread. Pizza wise: the Shuggie is your standard Margherita pie. Very good. The dough is excellent. The chimney sweep is blue cheese and pine nuts and I think basil. That one was good also. The dough was the best part. It's in a wood fired oven. Ambience is nice. The place has a good vibe. No soft drinks really. At least not your basic ones. So you're sort of guided into more expensive options. I do wish they had Mexican coke though. That's my favorite drink with pizza. Overall it's worth visiting. Due to parking I would never chance it on a Friday or Saturday.

I love this pizza spot in Somerville's Union Square! The vibes here are so cool and cozy, and the food is really delicious. Definitely make reservations beforehand to guarantee a seating. I've been here twice and both times I ordered their fingerling potatoes and the like a pepperoni pizza. Their salads are good too, but the pizza is the star! The dough has the perfect crispy, chewy, and airy texture and the flavors are so good. Great spot for a date night or a night out with friends. They have a good selection of drinks as well. If you drive, there is a small parking lot in front of the restaurant, or there are metered spots nearby and Somerville resident parking spots around.

This is delicious sourdough pizza with a tangy crust and a nice robust sauce. The schuggie has a nice basil pesto with a little kick, basil and fresh mozzarella. The crust is nice and airy so not too heavy. Service is great with 20% gratuity already added and the interior has a nice ambiance.

Pepperoni and basil pizza - delicious!!

Met a friend last minute, only seating was at the bar, which was perfect for talking with the mixologist/bartender. He made a perfect black manhattan and his suggested wine pairings for our food orders enhanced the meal. We dove into the tuna tartar before taking a picture. The chopped pistachios and heavy citrus flavor is not for everyone but we enjoyed the dish once our expectations were adjusted. The shrimp toast was saltier than I liked but it was a favorite for my dining companion. We both loved the fingering potatoes, cornbread and our pizzas. Definitely worth the trip! I look forward to going back when I can enjoy the patio!

I had the occasion to be in Somerville for the first time in decades and stumbled into June Bug just outside of Union Square. I was reminded that it is a good idea to venture off Cape Cod more often if for no other reason to experience such spectacular atmosphere, service and food. Our starter was a roasted cabbage salad with a lemon mustard dressing, encrusted with breadcrumbs, amazing flavor. We followed that with a beet salad with generous chunks of locally sourced beets, winter citrus and onion topped with a blood orange glaze and smooth cashew butter. The finish was a brick oven pizza featuring smoked cheddar, sliced apple, caramelized onion and fennel sausage on a naturally leavened crust. Risky but flawless. Every bite was delectable. I would go out of my way to return.

Wow this is such a cute and artistic place with brick walls and colorful art on the walls! We tried the pizzas: the chimney sweep and Dylan's garlic one - we loved both of them! Wood fired but the crust was so soft! For the chimney sweep, you really need to love bleu cheese or you shouldn't get it! We also tried their charred orange lemonade which was quite on the sweet side but was refreshing!

Very cute restaurant in Union Square! Came on a weekday and didn't need a reservation at all. I love how cozy and colorful the decor was. Our server was great, super friendly and consistently filling our glass. We tried both a salad and pizza- both were delicious and perfect for sharing!

I held this year's birthday dinner here. I had a good impression of Coda Restaurant Group before,…read moreand this place did not disappoint. Prosciutto: The best dish of the meal. The prosciutto slices were perfectly salty, rich in fat, and smooth, wrapped around the refreshing sweetness of kumquats, the delicate creaminess of stracciatella cheese, the crunch and nutty aroma of pistachios, and topped with a smoky touch of sumac powder. It had a rich and distinct flavor profile while offering a gentle and comfortable taste. Spaghetti: The refreshing lemon and basil paired with the umami crab meat is a classic combination. Chili oil added a touch of spice and aroma, while pea tendrils provided a light herbal fragrance. The sauce was emulsified very smoothly, making it both rich and palatable, although the spaghetti itself didn't leave a particularly strong impression. Half Chicken Milanese: A large portion, perfect as a main course to share. The chicken cutlet was thick, fried to a fragrant perfection, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Wrapped in lettuce and eaten with mayonnaise, it brought back memories of the fast food stalls outside my school when I was a child. This was my first time trying rhubarb stems. The tangy and refreshing taste cut through the richness, and the texture was like softer celery and firmer green bell peppers - quite interesting. Duck Bacon Pizza: The most highly rated pizza online, and it was truly delicious! The rich, savory flavor of the duck bacon, the succulent richness of the shimeji mushrooms, and the mellow sweetness of the caramelized onions, combined with the creamy cheese base, made it a calorie bomb, but I still felt it was the right choice. Unfortunately, the crust was a bit hard, making it difficult to cut with a knife. Cotechino Pizza: This was my first time trying a pizza with sweet potatoes, and I couldn't help but admire their innovation. The colors were vibrant, and the sweetness of the sweet potatoes paired with the smoky aroma of Cotechino sausage bits created a full yet harmonious flavor, evoking the feeling of being in the southern Italian countryside in early autumn, basking in the bright sunshine and the satisfaction of a bountiful harvest. The restaurant offered menus printed with "Happy Birthday," and the waiters provided professional cake-cutting service. Overall, a very comfortable experience.

Have wanted to try Gufo for a couple of years now, and finally made it in for an early birthday…read moredate night. We didn't make a reservation so we ended up at the bar but I didn't mind. I got the after school snack cocktail which was very refreshing and paired nicely with the meal. We split the Bucatini Verde and it was so delicious. I couldn't even pinpoint the flavors I was eating but it was amazing. Fresh pasta and just really good flavor. We saw a dish online we wanted, but the server explained they use that pasta for different dishes and change out the sauce, so I'm glad I got to try it. We then split the Pepperoni + Vodka Sauce pizza which was good. I'll be honest I was a tad disappointed in the pizza. It was flavorful but I think I was expecting the same feeling I got when I had the pasta. It was good, but just that, good. Crust was a little burnt. I did love the vibes and pasta and it's definitely known in Cambridge for a good reason. I'd recommend a reservation if you'd like a table as it does fill up fast.
