The interior was super cute! It was clean and had a modern vibe to it, there were plenty of tables and seating! The workers were so nice and our drinks were a bit of a wait because of how busy it was, but that's okay it was only around a 10 minute wait. The drinks were amazing! I really wanted to like Junenov Tea. My husband and I have heard great things about their drinks. Unfortunately, our experience today was horrible and I wouldn't recommend to anyone. We ordered our 2 drinks at 4:12pm on a Sunday. There was only 1 couple who was in front of us in line. I noticed a sign that said they were short staffed so they weren't offering ramen and other food items. After placing our order, we sat down facing the bar where they serve the completed orders. People got called with their buzzers every 5-10 mins. The line kept building. After 30 mins, we noticed everyone left in the establishment were new people who ordered after us. We wanted to be patient and understanding since they were understaffed. 4 groups that came after us got called before us with orders of 3-4 drinks and food. I went up to ask about our order. The "manager" (older gentleman) said it wasn't ready yet. Another order of 4 drinks of group who came after us gets called. I see him reprint our drink to make. Still other drinks were getting made before ours. An order of 8 drinks gets called in front of me. This group came 30 mins after we put in our order. I was becoming increasingly irritated. The manager tried to say someone else took our order, but our buzzer never went off and we saw that no one else who came after us ordered the drinks we did, so this was a complete lie. A worker tried to say other people ordered simpler drinks which I would understand if they came at the same time as us, but when were they going to make our drinks? All we got was a crème brûlée boba (I guess hard) and Thai tea boba (simple). I asked for a refund with the inexcusable wait time and ready to leave without our drinks since no other accommodation was being offered. Finally, they offered us a refund for our drinks which we got (they kept our 18% tip) and gave us our drinks at 5:02pm. I will update if I decide to go back and it's better, but as of right now DRINKS ARE GOOD BUT I WOULD PASS BECAUSE OF THE WORST SERVICE. read more

HONEY BROWN RICE MILK TEA (30% sweet, 30% ice): This is so hard to find elsewhere so I get this all the time LOL. Brown rice milk tea is one of my favorites. The honey sweetens it enough to not overpower the toasted, nutty tea flavor. Goes well with the crunchy agar and chia seeds. MANGO SAGO: Standard-- tart, refreshing, chewy. We've had several of the onigiris here... Favorites include the Fried Fish Tartar and Grilled Unagi Avocado. You can ask them to leave out the piece of spam if you're pescatarian. Junenov Tea defintely caught my eye with their modern and sleek exterior in this quiet plaza. There is plenty of parking in the lot as well. Their interior is also clean and modern - their interior and menu gives me a fancier version of i-Tea vibes. The employee who helped me was friendly - he may be the manager or owner, but the wait time for 1 drink was quite long. I ordered the Jasmine Boba Milk Tea and it was a decent price for the size. The drink was on the creamier side with a very subtle tea taste - it had a good sweetness to it at 80%, as well as a good ice level at 50%. I think maybe the owner owns or used to own an i-Tea because my milk tea tasted exactly like how the one from i-Tea tasted like. read more

After looking through Yelp to find a milk tea spot near me (Concord) that I haven't tried or seen yet, I discovered Junenov! Although it is located in Pleasant Hill, it is located really close to Sunvalley Shopping Center, which is right off the border of Concord. They have a great selection of teas and non-caffeinated drinks to choose from! I used to love ordering High Mountain oolong, but not many places have this option, so I was surprised they had it. At first, I didn't taste much of the tea. I assumed it was probably the lychee jelly that overpowered the light oolong taste. The crema on top was a bit sweet and had a slight vanilla flavor, which I don't think paired well with the light tea. Service was great and quick. The employees here are kind, helpful, and patient. I love coming here. I think my favorite drink is probably the cookies n cream smoothie/milk tea one and my little girl tends to enjoy the creme brulee drink. The top of it even has the hard sugar stuff. I've only tried their cheese sticks so far but they are VERY GOOD. It's somewhat smallish, but it's nice when you can get a table. I've gotten the Fresh Strawberry Mango Fruit tea twice and like how it's flavorful without being too sweet. I've also tried their popcorn chicken and calamari. I wish I could adjust the spice for the popcorn chicken but still thought it was pretty good. The calamari was a little salty but overall tasted fresh and crispy. When you walk in there are about 6 tables and the restaurant is very clean! Extensive menu! We tried the dumplings with peanut chili sauce and the short rib waffle fries. Both were really good! The waffle fries weren't soggy and had lots of sauce. The dumplings were soft but a little small. Despite the size of the dumplings, I would still order again. They were delicious. Lastly, our drinks were perfect! The amount of boba wasn't too little or too much. My Jasmine boba tea tasted so fresh. This is a review over two days... let's start by saying the staff is consistently rude and unwelcoming here, there has never been a time in which we had a pleasant or happy interaction with a cashier or anyone else working here, but we put up with it because the drinks are typically good quality. We came in yesterday 1/17, waited in line with no cashier for at least ten minutes only to overhear another employee at the pick up counter tell someone the wait time for drinks was upwards of 30 minutes. I stepped out of line (still no cashier), and asked him if I heard correctly to which he said yes. So we left. Would save people a lot of wasted time to put up a sign or have staff let people know without standing in line for no reason. Not one "sorry" or anything of that nature. Fast forward a today. Came in around 3:45, no line, not very busy inside. Ordered and waited almost 25 min for our drinks. She handed me the drinks, I noticed there was no boba in my drink that should have had double boba and had a tea bag floating in it. I asked only to be told the cashier didn't put in the double boba although I repeated myself 3 times. We always order the same thing. Then I was told they had run out of boba and it would be another 30 minutes, PLUS they wanted me to pay for the boba which was their mistake. The nonchalant and rude attitude here is so off putting. Again, not one apology, I was told "this is what you ordered", NO, ITS NOT! Then I asked about different boba options and she said they had brown sugar and it would be another dollar. I told her I'd pay it but it was terrible customer service to not only not fix the issue but to then charge me more for their error AND for an item I didn't even want but now had no other options for. I should have been refunded. The drink was so sweet it was undrinkable. I spent 18$ and tipped, as I always do. After this experience and the complete lack of customer service, we are officially no longer loyal Junenov customers. Happy Lemon is around the corner and their customer service is wonderful every single time. Staff here could learn a thing or two from them and smile once in a while or pretend they care. read more

My friend and I arrived around 2pm with no other customers in line to order 3 drinks and a couple of food items. We received the pork dumplings we ordered significantly later and were not informed of any extended cooking or preparation time for this item. We received all of our items throughout our 45 minute waiting period and were finally able to depart closer to 2:50pm. Great location by the community college. They are currently having their soft opening, so they didn't have the full menu. I asked for ramen, but they didn't have that yet. Instead, my boyfriend and I got the unagi onigiri, shrimp tempura onigiri, and popcorn chicken. The onigiri were pretty big, about a hand size and filled with other ingredients so it felt like a meal. I liked the popcorn chicken, maybe my favorite in the area. It had just enough spice for myself, but my boyfriend wished that he could've had it spicer/have an option to change spice level. I didn't get a drink, but my boyfriend got the Thai iced tea. We just thought it needed more tea flavor vs half and half. Overall, we paid about $40 for our order, which we thought was a lot but it was worth it. Been a few times now and still rating 5 stars because the customer service has always been excellent. A few misses with some of the things we ordered in our later visits, but I imagine it's just a personal preference. 1. tonkatsu ramen -- a common issue I have with most ramen is that I find them too salty and cannot eat more than half the bowl because of it. Such is the case here unfortunately. However, my husband is less sensitive to salt and enjoyed it. Aside from the saltiness, I found it a bit lacking in broth flavor. Yes, the broth was rich due to the cream they add (a nice touch), but the only flavors I got were the richness from the cream, salt, and the oil. There wasn't a strong bone-simmering-for-hours flavor. Ok but not as good as my go-to place. 2. fried oysters -- hard to go wrong with these. Perfectly fried here, although the oysters themselves were fairly small. 3. passionfruit tea with jelly & boba -- very refreshing. I almost always get 0% or 30% sweetness with my boba drink, but even at 100%, I didn't find this grossly sweet (though I still would've preferred it less sweet -- but it was my husband's drink). The jelly paired perfectly with the drink. I've become a boba snob (thanks to another boba place) and didn't care too much for the boba pearls. They were decent, I've just had better, and I think this particular drink would've been better without the boba. 4. avocado smoothie with boba -- total fail for both me & hubby. 50% sweetness was still too sweet for me, but the killer was that there really wasn't much avocado flavor. Also would've preferred it without the boba. I ended up giving it to my sister's little kids. I still consider Junenov a happy place to visit and look forward to trying out more fun things. read more

No customization with ice or sugar level. - Classic boba milk tea: 80% sweet and it was perfect with a strong tea flavor. Boba was nice and chewy. - Unagi onigiri: expected a small musubi, but it was hefty, included avocado, mixed greens, thick omelet, spam with rice wrapped with seaweed like an unwrapped sushi roll. Get it! - Soft shell crab: fried soft shell crab with thick omelet, mixed greens, spam and rice wrapped in seaweed. Sushi roll quality and so filling! - It was soft opening and I'm so impressed at how quick my order was ready, they used buzzers to alert you, I had a chance to walk my dog around outside with benches/mini park to chill and mexican restaurant place next door. Improvements - Less sauce on the unagi onigiri. Made it soggy because I didn't eat it right away, but the onigir held really well and was very nicely packaged in a wrap and inside a box. It was my first time coming to this new milk tea store near DVC. The shop is pretty small but still had about six tables to dine in/sit at. The menu had a large selection of both drinks and food. We tried the Popcorn Chicken and Okonomiyaki Short Rib Fries. The Popcorn Chicken was extremely flavorful and had chunks of garlic and plenty basil. It is on the sweeter side but I did not mind too much. They also give you the option to choose your spice level! The Fries were saucy and decent in portion. The meat was soft but there was barely any meat. As for drinks, my friend got the Jasmine Milk Tea which is on the floral side. It's super light and refreshing! I got the Honey Brown Rice milk tea. I came in on a Friday afternoon and the crowd was mostly young college students that I assume from DVC. Early gray milk tea: I ordered 50% sweetness with less ice. I appreciate the calculator to show that less ice is less than 80% full of ice. It's a good balance between the natural tea, caffeine, and powder. The tapioca is soft. Spicy miso ramen: I need to come back for the curry ramen ( not available yet while posting this). The spicy ramen was well portioned. Perfectly spicy. It came with a huge spoon and great quality chopsticks. I'm usually hesitant if a boba shop sells ramen because the food is usually not great. This ramen was above my expectations It left me full for the entire day. Which is good because ramen is supposed to be heavy. The only complaint I might have is the oil. ( thats being overly picky from a ramen enthusiast) Other than that, I appreciate the unique flavors the shop has like shrimp and katsu udon. We got the pork belly rice bowl, unagi onigiri, calamari, and mango sago. The pork belly rice bowl was excellent. You get 4 thick pieces of pork belly, and they had a good ratio of fat/meat. It comes with a ton of rice, and they put unagi sauce all over which makes it really tasty. The egg included was perfectly cooked, slightly gooey center. The unagi onigiri was good too, though I feel like the unagi was a tad small. I feel like the rice bowls are a better value. For example, the pork belly rice bowl was $15 while the pork belly onigiri is $10...but you get 4 pieces of pork belly in the bowl as opposed to just 1. The calamari was really good. Its slightly spicy. They don't give a dipping sauce, but honestly I didn't need it. It was salty, spicy, nicely fried. It was also not greasy/oily at all. The Mango sago was good. Lots of fresh bits of mango. Honestly, I love mango sago and everywhere I go they taste about the same. [EDIT: I drank the rest of the mango sago the next day, and it had way more mango than other places. Had to eat the last 1/4 of the cup with a spoon because it was all mango bits.
