Went there on a Friday and sat outside. We ordered the mushroom soup which was good but our dinners came out when our soup was only 1/2 eaten. We both order the Halibut and it was dry, tasteless and a waist of $45. Terrible food a pushy atmosphere to get you in and out. We were done in 35 minutes. This is a very popular place to eat lunch and dinner. They have a pretty small menu, but they strive to provide quality food. We waited in line inside and the hostess took us to our table outside along the river. Once you're done reviewing the menu, you go inside to place your order. We ordered the California burrito and the special of the day which was a smash burger with Korean sauce. My husband enjoyed the Smashburger, but thought that it would have a little kick to it. Instead, it was only a sweet sauce. It came with a boatload of fries! Next time, we'll ask them to only give us half of the fries. I very much enjoyed the California burrito. It's a very large portion and had delicious crunchy french fries inside. Again, I would ask for half the fries. I ate half the sandwich then opened up the other half and just ate the meat. It was delicious! i'm glad we came for lunch. We met some people who went down for dinner and said that the music was too loud so they didn't stay. The music wasn't too loud at lunchtime. read more

The food was delicious, while the menu isn't big the stuff that's on it they sure did perfect it!! You do have to order food at a checkout area, that wasn't a big deal for us! The cake in the photo was pretty good. Not too sweet just perfect!! And the ambiance was so cute, I wish we got to sit outside but sadly it was raining. Juniper's was our first dinner in Lanesboro. Make reservations as there is limited seating and they do have to turn away walk-up's. When you check in, you are seated with menus. When you've decided what you want to eat, you go up to the counter and order your meal and drinks. Your meal is delivered to your table. It's an easy way to help reduce staff and it's quite efficient. The menu is carefully constructed and is not a vast array of options. I chose the squash ravioli and it was very good. Portions were large but not wasteful. My meal came with two slices of garlic bread, also very good. We started with cheese curds. They were good but would have liked them a little more cooked and crispier. The area is lovely. We sat outside on the patio which overlooked the creek and bridge. Candles set a romantic atmosphere. Staff was welcoming and helpful. Great stop. read more

We were absolutely blown away by the hospitality at Juniper's. Last minute they accommodated over a group of 20 (they opened up a section of the restaurant that was closed). I was expecting extraordinary food, but as we sat down we found out that the Chef here (Tyler Shipton) previously worked at some of our FAVORITE restaurants in the twin cities. These restaurants, had amazing reputations for high quality food. The food here surpassed all my expectations. The ingredients are sourced with intentionality, and the food is cooked with delicacy. The fried cauliflower was probably my favorite! It's a little expensive, but worth it! Lastly, the views on the patio are great. You can hear the streams flowing of the root river; it's incredibly soothing. I look forward to returning next year! read more

I've eaten at several businesses in Lanesboro and I can honestly say this is the only place I recommend or would return to. It was incredibly hot tonight and the only seating is outside. It is nicely covered overlooking the river so that's good with a couple big fans. They have a very limited menu. I chose the walleye with broccolini and wild rice. The walleye was seriously overcooked, the broccolini crunchy and not very good and the wild rice not very tasty. It was definitely not worth the price. Customers have to order inside and then servers will bring the food. Those who had smash burgers were happier. read more

Give your money to another business that actually appreciates it. Flew in from Houston, Texas today and decided to give Juniper a try. The owner of this establishment is insane. We arrived at 7pm- ordered inside by 7:10- Green beans came out cold- not an issue- owner rectified right away. A table of 6 was sat 20 minutes after we ordered- they received their food before us. My husband tried to get two different servers attention to ask about our food- in the mean time one order came out that was placed at the same time as ours- (friends with us) 10 minutes later still missing the other two burgers. We asked the owner and she went off the handle on my husband- saying he was rude to her "kids" teenage employees. She said she refused to serve us- even though we had already paid and tipped- and waited an hour and was served a cold appetizer. I went inside to speak with the owner and assured her no one was rude to her employees- but it was her employees that ignored us. She said your husband rolled his eyes. We also had our special needs brother with us that had waited almost an hour to eat- i told her she is feeding him. She then turns to the kitchen and it seemed they never even had our ticket- bc she asked where our burgers were and they didn't seem to know. So instead of actually just checking why it took an hour for two burgers- she decided to say we were rude to her staff that act wouldn't even acknowledge us. What's even more wild is you order a tip prior to knowing what type of service you're getting. We love Lanesboro and honestly were shocked by this type of behavior and service! We came up to Lanesboro for a few days of biking along the magnificent Root River Trail. The town is small. A few spots to eat and bars along Main Street. Junipers was open and we were glad to have dinner there. Very friendly staff, owners, amazing chef. Fresh farm to table flavorful and abundant presentations. If the salmon with faro, mushroom soup and roasted cauliflower is on the menu we highly recommend these dishes. They offer a great burger. Vegan and veggie choices. Reasonable and nice beer and wine selection as well as a few cocktails. Please support these owners who really love what they do. Next trip we are parked for dinner here again! read more

Cute location on the river. Ordering of drinks and meal is done at the counter and food is served to you. Getting another drink you go back to the order counter. Our meals were good (chicken and the tortellini) but the pesky flies while eating detracted from the dining experience. One of the servers kept wiping his face with the inside of his t-shirt immediately after he served someone their plates. Gross. The food is incredibly delicious here: we tried the fried cauliflower, bruschetta, burger, salmon (!), and "pasta of the moment" and they were all perfectly cooked and so tasty. The cocktails were also delicious and the wine list is very short but good. You can't beat the beautiful view of the river. We had a large group and were unable to be seated together unfortunately (but were able to make a reservation for our large group.. it was strange). read more

This restaurant is always closed but FINALLY it looked open for lunch Wed-Thur-etc but NO IT IS NOT OPEN 12- 3 for lunch as website says. Looking at limited menu with no prices listed should have been my clue. I'm guessing these owners like gourmet idea of menu and extreme limited hours. Luckily there is the brew pub and High Court Pub for food.I hope someone else (with a better range of selections like sandwiches) opens a place that can do lunch everyday in summer when bikers are there.
