Brian at the front desk of Jupiter Next completely saved our trip. Had it not been for him, I would be writing a very different review. I booked out room at The Jupiter through a 3rd party site (which wasn't that smart of me, admittedly). When we got here, what we got was NOT what was advertised. This being our first vacation in 5 years, and back to my homeland no less, I really wanted it to be a rad trip. If we had to stay in the TINY room that was not what I thought I was booking, it would've been a total bust. After talking to Brian and explaining the situation, he put us in a room in the Jupiter Next. The room is amazing, and the hotel is beautiful. Everything is brand new and high tech (the phone in our room is just a box named Roxy that helps you). I am digging the Banksy art on the wall of our hallway. Everything is perfect. I didn't stay here because I run a lean organization and they wanted a $90 hold in addition to the $139 per room price tag. Next door is their sister property that is dedicated to the homeless community, where there is an on-site medical staff for testing and such. Pretty nifty business model. This hotel is--in the most hilariously cheesy way--geared toward millennials. With the Banksy posters in every hallway, the Alexa equivalent in place of room phones, and the backwards room numbers that are read from a mirror reflection, the only thing that's missing is avocado toast. The bar is perfect. For the high quality food, the inexpensive prices are surprising, especially for a hotel. The liquor selection is intense. They have just about everything you can think to ask for. The staff is all really friendly--and not in a forced way like most hotels. They seem to be genuinely enjoying their job. The price of the hotel was the best part. I paid $150 a night (including fees) mid-week for a spectacular room. Much cheaper than most places I stay at with the same quality. read more

We decided to go with this brand new venue for our wedding. Unfortunately we did not have the customer service we expected nor did we have the wedding detail/coordination we also expected from a Hotel/Venue that has done many events before. A couple pros to start with - they decorated our room door with 'Congratulations Name & Name' and left us some champagne. There is a beautiful garden patio attached to the reception area. Since this was a new venue, they allowed us to pick our own caterer. We started the negotiations a year in advance - in regards to venue space and hotel room blocking. Throughout the entire planning process there was consistent bombs thrown on us that were unexpected costs. For example, Jupiter NEXT promised us we could be involved in picking out chairs for the reception, that didn't happen, and they choose chairs on their own. They also said we could choose between white and black linens. That didn't happen, and said they only had black linens. Then there was a table debacle about round tables vs. long farm tables. My wedding planner and myself had to continue to dig through past emails to call them out on what they promised and didn't meet expectations. And then there was the biggest upset of all - hotel room blocking. Literally, 3 days before our wedding weekend, someone on the staff said guests weren't allowed to check in until 4pm. The wedding was at 4pm. We had also sent a detailed list of Family names and what room they should be in because Jupiter NEXT said we could arrange that. And of course, people were switched all over the place even though we had a 5th floor buyout. It was a mess. I even had to talk to customer service the morning of my wedding to make sure OUR GUESTS were on the 5th floor instead of elsewhere. My exact words to Jupiter NEXT, "We talked about this in detail via email and phone to avoid this exact situation. I made sure immediate family members and friends were booked on the 5th floor so we wouldn't have random strangers(other guests) during our wedding weekend." Another example of bad customer service- when my wedding coordinator was setting up the reception hall, the linens that arrived were all wrinkled and dirty, and put on tables. Jupiter NEXT replied with a "we are doing this as a favor, so its not our problem." Luckily there was a Jupiter Sales Coordinator who did fix the problem right away and agreed that dirty, wrinkled linens were not acceptable for a wedding. The reception space needs some sound dampening control. Overall they need a Jupiter NEXT Event Coordinator. There is not great communication with their staff, and their staff is a little to laid back. Overall, I would never recommend this venue space unless communication and coordination changes. Their staff needs to be educated on the wedding industry and what is included and what is not. read more

Like many reviewers, I had a poor experience at the Jupiter NEXT, mostly related to service/poor attitude/LIES. As many reviewers have stated, the room's decor is nice, but a. the positioning of the shower/toilet and privacy is uncomfortable/not well thought out, b. the floors are very poorly constructed--despite a carpet overlay and walking barefoot (and being light), I could hear and feel that my footsteps were echoing, c. the doors and walls are very far from soundproof--I don't think other people were being overly loud but I could hear everything, even snoring next door (and other unwelcome human noises). Mostly, I am disgusted because of how I was treated. I could not get the A/C to work, and "reporting" it via that ridiculous Roxy device (there are no phones) yielded no fruit. So I barely slept due to the warm (73F) room. I went down for coffee at 9, and told the front desk about the A/C and that I'd reported it via Roxy. Curly-haired woman looked at me blankly and asked if I wanted "someone" to come up. I said yeah, sure. Two hours passed, and it was time to check out. I was all packed, and went to use the bathroom before leaving. There's a knock, then another. I thought I heard "housekeeping!" and said "not a good time" (I had a DND tag on the door too). When I checked out, I asked the front desk woman (curly hair) why no one came. She said, "Oh, I thought you said NOT to send someone." I shrugged and said "You misheard." But then (see below), her/their story completely changed after I informed the 3rd-party site... I issued a complaint through the 3rd-party app, and their rep got back to me after speaking to the hotel; someone fabricated a story that I had "refused to let anyone in" when they'd sent someone up immediately. Wow. Way to change the story, honey! First, I didn't want someone to fix it, so you didn't send anyone? Then, it's that you did send someone and I 'refused to let them in"? Which is it, huh? read more

I stayed five nights at the Jupiter NEXT for our annual Project Healthy Body retreat. Everyone I encountered at the hotel and at Hey Love were welcoming and helpful. Our room was comfortable and the floor to ceiling windows provided lovely natural light. The second floor where our conference was held had ample room and spaces for our group to use. Lots of wonderful restaurants and shops within walking distance. I look forward to returning for another PNW getaway. read more

We came to Portland excited for my husbands birthday. The room at first glance was great, modern and fun. However after using the room for about 15 minutes we realized it most likely was not cleaned. There was someone's old food left in the fridge and When we went to wash our hands the sink didn't drain and out came scum and hair, and the pillows had long black hairs on them (neither of us have long black hair). And to top it off someone's toe nails were on the carpet. I went to the front desk and asked for a different room. They didn't have one so they plunged the sink and changed the pillows. They were very swift to get those changes done. They also vacuumed the toe nails and took out the old food. They offered to comp our room and give us free mini bar but we kindly declined both as this was not what we were looking for. We just wanted a clean room and no hassle for what was supposed to be a special night. I give 2 stars for the swift fix and attention to getting the room cleaned and the offer of comping our night. I'll stick with Air BnB for now on, I much more enjoy the personal experience with air bnb. I've never had issue with cleanliness. read more

Great stay - front desk was very friendly and super helpful. Rooms had great style -a little tight but really only felt it when all of us were packing up at once. Has a bunch of outdoor patios that everyone can access. Lobby on the weekend is busy as is bar and restaurant but gives the place a nice energy. I recently stayed here because my niece's wedding was going to take place in the hotel. The wedding was beautiful but the room was very small compared to other hotels I've stayed in. I requested a handicap room because I'm currently in a wheelchair and it was difficult moving around because of the small space. The room was way overpriced for the stay we experienced. read more

Cool and hip. Vibrant part of town. Good bar (Hey Love) and lots of choices nearby if you want something different.... And now the downside - It's loud AF. For a new construction, you would think they would understand the need for sound insulation, but apparently not. The bathroom is... uh... I'm not sure what it is really, other than extremely poorly designed. When using the walk-in shower, you get water all over the floor. The soapstone tiles are extremely slick when they get wet, and old fat guys like me are in constant peril of slipping (wanna own your own hotel?) There are no rubber mats to provide traction, so shower at your own risk. I was staying alone, but I'd imagine that the frosted glass walls may be an issue for anyone with a modicum of privacy regarding their bathroom activities. I pressed some ham while showering (just for fun) and I'm sure I wasn't the first to do it.... Oh, and the chair... I've never sat in a chair that seemed like it was actually pissed off at me for sitting in it. What the actual hell kind of a chair is this? The only thing that would have made it worse would be a few carefully placed glass shards... I can only imagine what it looks like from behind as I write this review.... maybe like someone is trying to push Play-Doh through a colander? This should maybe earn 2-1/2 stars. I'm actually a fan of modern design - but all too often the apparent simplicity and function of its proper execution can lure rank amateurs into the field. Super awful venue. We've been there for friends birthday and bar was taking forever to give you glass of water! Set a side a cocktail! You find yourself hanging by bar with nothing on your hand for atleast 20 min. We also went for a venue there SPAM. Super expensive bc it was in "best" hotel in East but it was all spam. Really fun design & decor. Love the minimalist & industrial kind of vibe. Staff was great & very friendly, the valet were so friendly & funny. The factor that gave it 3 Stars was the noise The music from the Trio Lounge was SO loud. We got woken up every night/early morning. Maybe ask for a room facing inward & not toward the street, or invest in ear plugs. There's also no coffee pot in your room, you go down to the lobby to get your morning cup. Not a huge deal, but a little inconvenient. All in all, we'd come back if we had a room away from the street. It really is a great hotel! read more

Their policy for not replacing coffee mugs is very silly. I figured that at least the mugs would get cleaned by housekeeping since they aren't replaced, but they never cleaned the mugs so we had dirty coffee mugs for the next morning. The lack of privacy in the bathroom is also bothersome, and the shower "door" isn't wide enough so every time we showered the floor around the toilet was flooded. And I would prefer to have an actual phone in the room instead of the Alexa knock off. Not everyone has jumped on the voice activated band wagon. But the bed is comfy, room was quiet and the hotel is in a great location. read more

First the good. This place is super clean, pleasing to the eye with a good staff, especially the valet staff, they were amazing. It has a very chill vibe and laid back attitude. The lobby has an open air fire pit which added a pretty cool touch and overall it is a nice place to stay. The bed was comfy. Now the not so good. This hotel is very cute and modern looking on the surface, but the quality of the stuff inside (counter tops, sliding door etc.) seems cheap. I actually liked that bathroom but if you need privacy you may not like the frosted glass walls, and the door doesn't close all the way. I can move past that but the one thing that really bothered us was the noise. We were on the 6th floor and facing Burnside street and the music from the club across the street was so loud we couldn't sleep until the club closed. There are rooms on the other side of the hotel which I'm sure would have been quieter, make sure to ask for that if you are trying to get some sleep on your vacation. This hotel is newer and I'm sure will have more growing pains. It is a good location and I could see staying here again, but requesting a quiet room. read more

Came in on the 4th I got greeted by the most amazing concierge this young lady with some curly hair (sorry I didn't get her name, management keep her around though!). She was real helpful with all my questions and even helped me upgrade my room without hesitation, for I had booked the wrong room online. The rating is based on their policy of ONE complimentary cup of coffee in the morning and $3 each for refills. That might be OK at motel 6 prices but it was enough to spoil what had been a decent night at the hotel. This hotel, across from its eclectic older brother opened the weeks ago but is still not finished. The lobby still under construction, is austere looking, as is the room we got. My wife and I came in a bit late and were sort of surprised with the concrete floors, the stainless sink in the main room, toilet in same space with shower - no fan. Light switch for bathroom outside by the main door. I woke my wife up washing hands because the sink is in the sleeping area. No shower mat, slippery floor almost made the wife take a header. No towel rack, just a round hole in the glass enclosure. . No restaurant, $29 to park. Positive? We loved the bed. I think we were the first guests in this room. read more

This place is great for every aspect of staying in a hotel besides actual sleeping. Feels more like a cheap apartment than a hotel. The walls and floors are PAPER thin. If someone is just walking around above it sounds like a herd of elephants. The rooms are basic and streamlined but functional. The clientele seems to be mostly the young partying type. With COVID, bars are still closed so they entertain themselves in their rooms and can be heard by all. There are patios on every level that people chain smoke on. Don't bother with the parking unless you are not using your car. If you try to park after dark you won't find a spot in the garage. Which is one block away, not under the building. And it's $15 a night. The coffee in the lobby is very good. The front desk staff are very friendly. I just think the main point of a hotel is to sleep. Hence the poor review. I see the business responds to a lot of their reviews. There is nothing that can be stated by them that will change the fact that their hotel is cheaply constructed! read more

The next is a more upscale version of the Jupiter. The front desk and valet staff are great- friendly and interesting to talk to. The lobby isn't completed yet but so far so good. The rooms are well appointed with plenty of storage and surface area for your belongings. Simple clean design. The problems- the doors to the hall are paper thin. You can hear everything and if someone is speaking loudly it seems like they are actually in your room. The walls aren't well insulated either. If by chance you get some frat like dudes next to you- we did- don't plan to sleep through the night. There is only one pillow per person and that is a simple fix they need to address right away. There are large windows- a plus- but they don't open. All in all this is a decent place to stay and the staff couldn't be nicer- but they need to buy more pillows and keep the bro's across the street at the Jupiter. read more

Where do I start? My daughter was to be married in July 2020. Due to COVID-19, her original date was canceled and so was the venue. Over the course of 3 months we went from 75 guests to 23, changed venues 4 times and lost vendors due to businesses closing. In the final weeks to the new September date, a venue change was needed yet again. We scrambled and found Jupiter NEXT. I can't say enough about how grateful we are to have found them. Jake worked with our small budget and was very flexible with our timelines. On the day of our event, Eden ensured all the small details were taken care of during and after the event. Bubbly in the suite to greet the bride and groom, a congratulations message on the chalkboard door to their room, to the excellent customer service they recieved during their stay, all was wonderful. We also discovered this business supports the local community. Rooms were clean, modern, and fun. All staff were friendly and you could tell they wanted to make the experience a good one for our entire crew. If your looking for a relaxed, portland vibe hotel with excellent customer service, check this spot out. Also, if your looking for event space for meetings, or a larger event like a wedding or reception, it's great. They have both indoor and an outdoor secret garden. We had a travel emergency and had to change our plans at the last minute. We were lucky enough to find a room at Jupiter Next, and cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. I'd stayed at the original Jupiter Hotel about 10 years ago, and Jupiter Next really seems to have taken all the things that were great about the original, and improved upon it. The folks working there were incredibly attentive and informative--they took the time to clearly answer all our questions and make detailed recommendations. I was beyond impressed with the amenities here. We ended up with a corner room--it was spotless, and the furniture was modern while still feeling cozy. Our bed was huge and comfortable. Noise pollution from both the street bellow and the hallways was nill. The hotel clearly was clearly able to anticipate the needs of guests, with an ample (and reasonably priced!) mini bar and great tray full of things you may have forgotten to pack. They had great socially distanced options for coffee and drinks for guests. The smoking rooms on each floor were covered, but still open to the outside, and the small size of each one allowed for some privacy. The covered porch was a great place to enjoy the sunset. The main drag of Burnside was chill and full of great options for food within walking distance. Jupiter Next removed all the stress from our earlier travel, and I can't wait to return the next time we're in Portland! read more

Overpriced for what you get. Location is terrific so that's the biggest plus - lots of great restaurants and shops nearby and close to Hawthorne, Belmont and other cool areas. But the hotel experience itself needs work. My room was weird - quite spacious but space used poorly. No dresser or any drawers in which to put clothes (maybe hipsters don't need clothes?), desk with no task lighting, walk-in shower that looked awesome and was hot and strong, but sprayed water all over the bathroom. And the walks are THIN. Spent much of last night using my white noise app to drown out the next door neighbors having sex. Valets were nice but never around, no coffee/hot water in room, only if you go downstairs between 7 and 10 am. All of this is fine but not at this price point. Will stay elsewhere next time. This is my second time staying at this hotel, and I love the vibe and central location. I like the decor and art work, and attention to detail. Staff was super friendly. It's a quick bus ride from Powell's books, and surrounded by amazing restaurants. I was here for a conference and it's an easy 15 minute walk to the Convention Center. I had coffee and a fresh danish and took it up to the 5th floor balcony, or "Perch" for a great view of Portland. read more

I would like to give this place zero stars! We just got a bill for Double the price we were supposed to pay for the room. Oh jupiter hotel you did us wrong so bad. Our hotel room was like a one bedroom apartment that had been renovated to be a hotel room the laminate floor was not even attached to the floor, poorly done. The room was janky as eff and connected to a bar so it was so loud. We wish we would have known that! I literally left that place almost exactly the way we checked in, except towels on the floor and bed was not made. We received charged for $800 dollars for room damage. I'm sure they got our rooms confused with someone else, but my husband called and they said, "we have no notes". I dont know! But you guys did us wrong and I hope this review deters people for staying here. We even bought a piece of art from you guys. Why oh why, we wanted to like you guys. We will never be visiting your hotel ever again. read more

Our stay was decent except when checking out the next morning, we were informed that our car was hit while valet was driving to the garage the night before. They assured us that all repairs would be taken care of and they were very apologetic. A week later, we were told that the valet service was not liable and that we were 'on our own.' I tried calling Jupiter a couple of times and left messages for a manager to call me back. No one ever called back and now we're stuck with one side of our car all banged up. Our one-night stay is going to end up costing us around $2000. Even if the parking company is contracted and not part of Jupiter Hotel, this isn't a good way to do business. read more

Hip, modern, funky.....and absolutely NOT a place to stay. Checked into a room that seemed like it have never been stayed in... Lack of attention to construction detail, electronics not connected, stained bed linen, no storage. Lovely front desk staff who are all new, and did not have great customer service training. Had an issue with a guest across the hall who was banging on their door at 2am.... lets call the front desk, nope no phone in the room - just Roxy and automated concierge. Complained to Nick the GM the next morning, and his response was basically "sorry, but we can't be responsible for the actions of our guests". Seriously Nick? There are a multitude of hotel options in Portland, most probably not as funky as the Jupiter Next, but I am sure more concerned about the guest experience. read more

NOT great. Upon arrival we were told there was no parking available and to park on the street in the 2 hr zone or the 8:00 AM removal which totally defeats the purpose of a relaxing sleep in plan. Also, how can there not be enough parking for paying guests? Once in the room the toilet had not been flushed which leads me to think of course it's not even cleaned. We called to let the front desk know and they just apologized. They did call back and offer a bottle of champagne but it would have been appropriate to offer a different room. Our room constantly smelled of cigarette smoke even though there was a designated smoking balcony. Maybe we were just close to it? The bathroom door didn't even close all of the way, it was an unfinished design that didn't flush with the wall when slid closed. So if you are at all shy in the bathroom department, you are out of luck. Lastly, the lights are all controlled by one main switch. This meant the main living area light HAD to be on if you wanted to turn the bathroom light on. So when my husband was sleeping and I needed to get up for my day, I had to turn bright lights on in the room just to take a shower in the bathroom. No Bueno. Definitely do not recommend staying here. Save your money for well thought out design and a place who cleans properly. read more

We loved our stay at the Jupiter Next Hotel last week. Our room was absolutely beautiful, modern, fun... love the decor. The view of all of Portland was so awesome, the staff were very helpful and cool. I like how there are a few patios, as well as a huge lobby that is really welcoming to hang out. Scones coffee and tea in the morning, adult beverages later, the whole hotel is a sweet experience. We'll definitely stay there again! read more

I stayed in the Jupiter NEXT's XL - Corner King Suite. First off, the room looks exactly like the photos that you see online. The check in process was easy. I accidentally tried to check into the Jupiter hotel next door to the Jupiter NEXT. The employee there was extremely helpful and actually took the time to personally walk me outside and to the Jupiter NEXT's lobby. I got valet service. The valet attendants were always extremely nice and helpful. I never had a problem with their valet services. When I checked in the valet took my luggage to my room for me. The location was fine, but I am not as particular about location and so look to other reviews if you are interested in location. I felt like security was on top of things at the hotel. When I went into the elevator of the Jupiter NEXT I had to swipe my room card to get the elevator to go to the correct floor. The elevator will not move unless you have a room key. I liked that feature because it ensures that no one who is not a guest will be able to wander up to the rooms of the Jupiter NEXT unless they are accompanied by a hotel guest. Also, the elevators are right next to the check in counter and so anyone who tries to use the elevator and is not a guest will be on the staff's radar pretty quickly. I had zero issues with noise. The Jupiter NEXT is across the street from the Doug Fir Lounge and if you are in the XL Corner king Suite you will not be needed earplugs. If you are concerned about noise I can assure you that paying a little bit more for the nicer room will alleviate your concerns. It is very unique that the Jupiter offers a 420 package. If you plan on visiting Portland's dispensaries, just be courteous and respectful of the Jupiter's property. They have a no-smoking policy because they do not want you to stink up their rooms. If you want good karma it is always a good idea to tip the maid. If I ever travel to Portland again I will be staying here. read more
