My sister was craving pozole but they sold out when we went on a Sunday for lunch, so she opted for the Caldo de Res instead. She liked the soup but thought the meat was a little on the tough side. Went here last night for a bday party and was sadly let down. I had high expectations as this place specializes in Oaxacan cuisine. I ordered the mixta plate, an horchata, and a shot of Don Julio añejo. For $37 the mixta plate had very little protein and both meats were overcooked and dry. The horchata was probably one of the worst horchatas I've ever had. There was karaoke going on in the back but it was so loud and the speaker quality was so bad that it was sometimes unbearable. My bill came with 20% auto grat due to being with a large party, but then the server swiped my card which brung up a screen to tip? Seemed a bit scammy. The service was slow but I will not fault the server since they were busy. Would not recommend this place with the abundance of less expensive Mexican restaurants with better food & better service. read more

I remember being here a long time ago... they gave us chips with Mike sauce and quesillo instead of chips & salsa. This is the only reason I came. Things have change since... but we were still able to order. However, they don't have quesillo I was a bit disappointed. They have a happy hour menu. The tacos are good. When I get my nails done a couple doors down I like to grab breakfast here. My favorite is the chilaquiles. The green ones have a real spicy kick to them which I love! During earlier hours there's usually a lot of seating and quick service. Their cafe de Olla is a perfect match to go with breakfast I have to have 2 cups minimum. I've had a lunch there twice and I would recommend stopping by to try if in the area. There's even patio dining in the back if you'd like to sit out there and enjoy fresh air, but it's close to the parking lot. This is a great place although not perfect. The carne asada was delicious. It's not the best in LA in my opinion but I bet most people would really like it. The chips and salsa come out right away and it's really fresh. It was rather mild for a place that is so authentically decorated. The place is small and there isn't a lot of seating but that wasn't a problem. I bet they do a lot of takeout business. I wasn't impressed that a virgin margarita cost $8. Dinner for 1 person cost me $35. That's 1 Diet Coke, 1 virgin margarita, and 1 carne asada plate. The staff was pretty much "down to business". Not overly chatty and nothing was missed. I was not happy with the meat in my entree(too chewy and leathery)but the server did honor my request to replace it with a fish taco which was only average. My first time at this restaurant and this is my experience. Prompt and friendly service. I ordered the tilapia and red mole sauce with frijoles and rice (not on the menu this way but they accommodated me). The food was delicious! I also ordered and got real guacamole which was freshly made (not blended) and delicious! This place is the real deal! Lastly, I needed to plug in my computer. Ahhh found a gem. We were in the mood for tamales, looked at what was around, and this place had what we were looking for. I was super excited about the mole one, but the chicken one was the star. The nachos were excellent, too, and the Carne asada was so good, my man went back again a couple days later to get it in taco form. I didn't spend much time in the restaurant itself (less than 30min), but even in that time, I was able to appreciate the beauty and craftsmanship behind the scenery of the establishment. The service was friendly (though a bit annoying that you can't split a check), and the food was ready faster than expected. I got the chicken burrito + wet with salsa verde, & it TASTED and LOOKED like a QUALITY burrito. Even driving 30 minutes to the beach, it wasn't too soggy, either. Went here with my family after my sisters ceremony for a bite and they served us a "memela" but when we got the food there was a hair on it, they took it back and we thought you know mistakes happen, but when they brought it back we found the hair again. It's kind of ridiculous that they would make the same mistake twice. Now we had gotten a wet burrito to go and we had specifically said "no rice" and when we get home and give to the person who ordered it, there was rice found in the burrito. Also the waiter just seemed like he didn't want to be there and wasn't very helpful. The guy looked annoyed and service was bad.
