What a great find. A neon blue sign reassures you they invest more in their fish than the decor, and they mean it! The fish was very fresh and lovely. The salmon was melt in your mouth with a lightly sweet note. The seared pieces of nigiri were well-balanced with just a light smokiness. The sushi rolls were well portioned and had very fresh ingredients. High on skill. I would recommend the omakase over the rolls though, if you want to enjoy the precision of their sushi.

An actual "hidden gem" because you kind of have to know otherwise you'll miss it. It's a small hole in the wall spot on the second floor where seating is limited but the atmosphere and staff make it very warm and bright! Fresh quality fish, well seasoned rice, overall great quality food for a fair price. Will be back to try out more of the menu! One note: Would not recommend large parties for dining in but they do have catering options that look solid

This is their Nigiri Tasting -- 10 pieces, toro roll, and miso soup for $50. With ponzu on the side and delivery, it came to about $70. Mixed feelings here. The fish was fresh, the rice was warm and well-seasoned, and the presentation (nice box, lemon slice) showed effort. But the cuts were tiny. Lots of white fish (seared yellowtail and fluke fin), no chutoro or otoro, and I personally don't care for salmon roll or uni -- so that lineup was underwhelming. The toro roll was solid, but at this price point in NYC, there are plenty of spots that deliver bigger, more satisfying pieces with more variety. The value here just doesn't match the cost. Final grade: C+ More reviews on TikTok: @therawreport

I won the giveaway for omakase to go box awhile back during summer and discovered this hole in the wall establishment with great sushi/sashimi! Everything was yum and they even offered complimentary mochi to me and my guest if we reviewed them. The box was also the most unique wooden box I've seen for take out. I think if you were to order this as is, would be pricey but this place and their workers left a positive impression on me, I'd be down to go back and try their other items

I had a huge sushi craving and ordered here for pickup. We got the salmon avocado rolls and Nigiri & Sashimi Tasting. Very fresh and delicious! Reasonably priced- would come back and try other items or get the same thing.

Clean and small inside, manned by a two-person staff, Jurin is an unpretentious place to grab a fresh bite when you need to eat in a hurry. I missed it the first time I passed it. They have a door on 36th Street that looks anonymous, and their storefront is actually up on the second floor. I emerged from the staircase to find 6 bar height stools and two round tables capable of seating three people each. Definitely keeping it casual. The omakase was elegantly presented in a wood-effect case and looked very pretty. The miso soup was perfect, imo - just underseasoned, and served piping hot. Was the sushi perfect? No, not really - I wish it'd been more satisfying - but it more than did the job. Definitely a place to bring people who know you well, and not people who you're trying to date.

I got a delivery order of a 10 piece "Nigiri Tasting" sushi set with miso soup. It was quite good. The sushi was fresh and had a lot of variety compared to your typical sushi delivery options. This might not be one of the top Omakase sushi restaurants, but it was quite acceptable. Some might say that delivery sushi is a sin, akin to grocery store sushi, but I beg to disagree. Better delivery options are starting to show up around town, even from some of the best places. Now, I know, the sushi "experts" ?snobs, say sushi must be eaten at a certain temperature, within a certain amount of time after preparation, etc., but that can't always happen for everyone, every time! Delivery was fast. Presentation and packing was excellent. Not bad, at all...recommended!

I was craving sushi and saw all the excellent reviews so I stopped by after work. I got a sashimi tasting. I "think" the fish is fresh. I have to say think because everything was extremely salty. The sashimi sits on a large bed of seaweed. I tasted the seaweed so it was super salty. So the sashimi sitting on the bed of seaweed absorbed all the salt. It was barely eatable. I don't know what happened but I won't recommend this place and won't be returning. What a shame.

It is an intimate space, you'll have to walk up stairs to get to the restaurant. It seems more popular for takeout but I ate in. The sushi was made pretty quickly and it was quite decadent! The sushi chef was kind as well.

The quality of fish here is incredible! They offer a $40 omakase box that has 10 pieces of fresh nigiri and it all tasted really good and high quality. They also sell regular rolls like a Spicy Salmon Roll and Spicy Scallop Roll, which I ordered. The chef was quick to make the food and they packaged it nearly. It's a hidden gem located on the second floor of a building in Midtown, but there's a few seats, mainly for 1 or 2 people to sit. It's a small cute interior and definitely more of a takeout spot. However, you can still eat there!

I was yelping what's good around the area and see this lovely sushi store on 2 nd floor. I ve order a premium and nigiri 10 pieces for take out and it was not that wow~ me and my daughter enjoyed it in the car right after picked up so the "not wow "is not related to the timeframe. It is just not that WOW with the luxury price . If the price is included the service, ehhhh I would just say not worth. Maybe they just have a long day ~ and so am I ? Put on a smile , I don't expect big smile with teeth To me , definitely not going back since there's tons of restaurants around the hood~

What a great hole in the wall! There are only two small round tables inside that seat 3 people each, and there is no alcohol, but it's a great, no frills sushi spot with very reasonable prices. What a great addition to the neighborhood!

    Citlali A.

Probably closer to 3.5 stars. I thought the food left a bit to be desired. The toro was a little I dunno, funky, which left a literal and metaphorical bad taste in my mouth. The botan who were delish and so was the uni. Everything else was just a littttle off though, I wish I could explain it better. While I wouldn't say to steer clear per se, (esp because this is all I've tried from Jurin) I also feel like there are other options in the area that are a bit superior quality for the price.

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. The entrees provide a substantial amount of food, and I especially appreciate that they allow you to choose which roll comes with your meal.
