    Truffle Edamame
    Dianna S.

Visiting family in New York. Stopped in for dinner last night. Had a wonderful and delicious meal. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. We were seated quickly and given a carafe of water. The place was slowly filling up with patrons. The restaurant is inviting and welcoming. It was decorated with cool light fixtures and lovely Japanese tapestries. We started with truffle oil edamame, Unagi Croissant, and corn ribs. The truffle edamame was very warm and flavorful. The corn ribs were seasoned to perfection and the parmesan cheese heightened the flavors. The croissant was very good with all the balanced flavors of eel, cream cheese, cucumber, and teriyaki sauce. For dinner we ordered the Hamburg Omu Supreme. Good curry gravy with a hamburger steak like patty with an egg on top of a bed of rice. The Brisket Yakisoba was the best entree we ordered. All the ingredients married together made the dish wonderful. We shared all of our food. All of our food was delish! If ever in New York, come try out this newish gem of a restaurant.

Snagged a last min resy for 9 people on a Friday night! It's a cute ambiance and the food was just okay in my opinion. The big highlight for me was the uni mentai pasta. I would def come back solely for the pasta. It's just the right amount of creamy and the pasta was cooked perfectly.

Big fan of the Last Samurai roll (so fresh) and the Miso butter roll (smoky). Takoyaki is super solid. I read a lot of people love the mentai pasta and my friend did love it -- I thought it was good but I may have had better. Fun texture though. Delicious barley milk tea (dairy free!!). Really great service.

Had a nice dinner at Manhatto on a busy Friday evening. Started with the Takoyaki and the Yuzu Caesar Salad - both solid. For entrees we had the Uni Mentai Pasta (very creamy), Salmon Ikura Don (good), Ribeye Fried Rice (meat was a little overcooked but good flavor) Friendly staff, lively atmosphere.

Very spacious place. My FAVORITES here were: - uni mentai pasta - this was very flavorful and creamy) - kamo miso pasta (duck with miso pasta) the duck was on point and I could really taste black pepper in the pasta. reminded me a bit of cacio e pepe - geso karage (fried squid appetizer) paired well with the spicy mayo - barley milk tea was a great drink. It was a little on the sweet side (this was free with a google review). OTHER ITEMS I TRIED: - Rib eye fried rice was soso. The rib eye was slightly burnt on the edges for medium rare and not very flavorful so you can prob skip on that one. - Corn Ribs were like the elote mexican corn on the cob. decent appetizer - Tomato Burrata - I love burrata but dish wasn't that special for me although presentation wise it was pretty. There was balsamic vinaigrette drizzled on the burrata and you can spread it on the toast with the different fruits or tomato. - Salmon Ikura Don - typical salmon sashimi with some ikura on top of vinegary rice. Nothing special as well since I just had some salmon sashimi from hashimart the day before and it was like the same. - Honey Toast with Matcha Ice cream - we got 1 to share between 4 people and it was a good dessert. I really liked the matcha ice cream here. - Miso Butter Roll (crab meat , puffed rice, red onion, asparagus, fried shallot, miso butter sauce) roll had a good amount of crab meat in each roll. Overall great place to eat with friends. Well decorated. Waiters occasionally came to change plates and add water to our cups which was nice.

Overall it was a good experience. We got sweet corn ribs, toridori roll, kamo miso pasta, uni mentai pasta, and homemade yuzu soda! Yuzu soda was not too sweet it was good! I liked kamo mis pasta more than uni mentai pasta. Honestly uni pasta was a bit salty and way too creamy for the first bite.. more you have it is getting better taste though. Service is great and it can be crowded so make sure to book a reservation beforehand :)

Some classic Japanese dishes and some with a unique twist. The uni mentai pasta was so good and creamy. The chicken katsu curry and hamburger omurice had a delicious curry sauce and great meat. The corn ribs had a delightful seasoning that complemented the corn taste well. The sweet potato mortadella was an interesting dish--not sure if it went well together, but the sweet potato and mortadella each on their own were very good. The chicken karaage was crispy and tender. The honey toast (with matcha ice cream) was also amazing! No disappointments basically. The inside is beautifully decorated. I should have made a reservation, but they were able to squeeze in my walk in group of 4 at 6:30 PM for an hour, which I appreciated. Super excited to have this place open up in Hell's Kitchen and would love to come back

A Japanese Western fusion with a clean design, Manhatto is a welcome new restaurant on the busy blocks on Hell's Kitchen. The food is mostly Japanese flavors with touches of outside influence. For those looking for the traditional look and feel, this might not be it, but for those wanting to go more experimental, Manhatto delivers. Taste: 4/5 Service: 4.5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Value for money: 3.5/5 We had: 1. Salmon Ikura Don - rather standard, the sushi rice was very strong on the vinegar 2. Uni Mentai Pasta - probably the best of the three we ordered, great strong flavours, recommend to split this given the richness of the cream, there is also crab in this dish which was a bonus to us 3. Tsukemen - this was like a deconstructed ramen, the broth was very rich, overall it was good, better as a ramen 4. Genmaicha Barley Milk Tea - this was a great drink! Too bad it was loaded with ice Overall this was a decent spot, felt like an item here or there was cutting corners but it was good. What made this meal better was the service, the servers were very attentive!

Having recently opened in Hell's Kitchen, we checked out the menu and so many items look tantalizing to say the least. So we came for dinner to a packed restaurant on a Thursday evening, and we secured the last available table in the house. The host and service was friendly, albeit a little slow at times. Overall, we had a great experience but feel there's still so much potential that has yet to be realized. For one, Manhatto does not yet have a liquor license - so options were limited to non-alcoholic beer, mocktails, and tea. We did enjoy the hot Sencha tea, which was a great addition to the meal. Now, for food: Miso soup: solid. Geso (squid) Karaage: delicious, a favorite! (even if it is a take on fried calamari, but shhh) Asian Pear salad - loved it. Yuzu Caesar salad - fantastic. Toridori roll - so good, just not a full-size portion for a sushi roll (5 pcs). Miso Salmon - perfectly cooked and loved the overall flavor, just felt it was missing more on the plate with just a handful of lettuce leaves and a lemon. Brisket Yakisoba - loved it. Overall verdict: cute space, super yummy food and would definitely go back ...but with the expectation that the portions are a bit small for the price.

Manhatto was such a refreshing take on Japanese food. I really enjoyed their Unagi Croissant ($12) for instance. It's not a pairing I would have ever thought of, but it was surprisingly great together. Their Uni Mentai Pasta ($29) was creamy and super tasty. Out of everything, that was definitely my favorite. Their Takoyaki ($11) was great as well. Although I really liked the garlicky fried rice from their Ribeye Fried Rice ($49), I found the ribeye a little tough to chew and not particularly seasoned. The portion of the ribeye does make up a little for the price on that dish though. Aside from the food, the service was good and the waiter was attentive and helpful!

We've been really looking forward to this place opening. Solid food, fun interesting small plates, and a great dessert that I look forward to trying. This was a great place to come in and relax in the neighborhood. It's not too fussy, it's roomy, and service is outstanding. I look forward to returning. The ramen was pretty flavorful for a lighter broth, corn looked great, the yuzu Caesar was solid, I have no complaints. Pretty decadent (as someone who is now watching their glucose) and for that I'd say it was worth it.

Still thinking about this meal. We ordered a little bit of everything and nothing missed. The unagi croissant was the perfect savory bite with flaky layers and soft slightly sweet unagi, and the trio pearl crudo was super refreshing with yuzu, scallop, uni, and salmon roe. The uni mentai pasta was one of my favorites, so creamy and rich, and the ramen had bouncy noodles with tender wagyu. The Last Samurai roll with bluefin tuna was amazing too. Please save room for the matcha honey toast, it was so soft and paired with green tea ice cream that was sweet with a slight bitterness so it wasn't overwhelming. Everything was incredible and our server Pauline was the sweetest and gave the best recommendations

I honestly wanted to gatekeep this, but they deserve all the love. Manhatto immediately jumped to the top of my favorite Japanese restaurants in NYC. The matcha shokupan dessert has stayed on my mind since, and the ribeye fried rice is MASSIVE! The interior is beautiful, warm and cozy, like a japanese jazz cafe. Even small details, like how clean the restroom was, stood out to me. The service was also AMAZING -- super friendly and attentive staff. Such a solid choice for a date night or a relaxed dinner I'd happily come back for. *Uni Mentai Pasta $29 * Almost every table ordered this pasta - layers of snow crab, uni, ikura, and mentaiko, but surprisingly not heavy at all. I loved that it wasn't overly creamy or cheesy like most mentaiko pasta. *Ribeye Fried Rice $49 ** Okay I know this is pricey, but they literally plop a whole ribeye steak on top of garlic fried rice. Perfectly cooked medium rare and easily the best steak fried rice I've had in a while. The rice was super garlicky and flavorful, and even more delicious after mixing it with the soy marinated egg yolk. *Matcha Honey Toast $15 ** MUST TRY! Extra thick shokupan, crunchy and buttery outside, soft and fluffy inside, with matcha ice cream melting into it and oats for a nice crunch. I cleaned the plate and would happily order this again. *Gyutan $16 * The beef tongue was so tender with a perfect char, and the yuzu pepper on the side made it even better. *Trio Pearl Crudo $22 Lightly seasoned and clean-tasting, letting the natural sweetness of scallop and uni shine. *Toridori $22 The sushi however didn't really stand out to me, so I'd probably skip it next time.

To drink, I had a Hot Organic Super Matcha Tea for 4.95. It was alright tea, and I wish teas were included in the price point, as otherwise, this place feels pretty traditional. In terms of food, I only ordered from the seasonal menu, so I'm not sure how the rest of the dishes are, but from what I had, I would go back for a light traditional meal. My appetizer was the Dashimaki Tamago/だし巻まき卵たま, or sweet savory omelet with daikon for $6.98. This came with three pieces along with a little dollop of grated radish. The pieces had a light sweetness to them along with a bit of savoriness. They were juicy and a bit bouncy while maintaining some softness. This was standard and good. My main dish was the $19.98 Beef Tan Tan Udon, or ground sirloin beef, spicy broth, baby bok choy, kikurage mushroom, scallions, and sesame seeds. While I have preferred udon from spots like Raku, the udon had a mild chew to it, and they were still good. The broth had a mix of sweetness and spiciness with a nice depth of flavor. The vegetables inside tasted fresh, and the meat added some richness. This was good as well. I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to go here, but the food was good. If you're in the area and looking for no frills Japanese dining in a more comfortable atmosphere at pretty decent Midtown East prices, I would recommend this place.

I'd have to say...the tonkatsu was quite good....not quite as sublime as my favorite tonkatsu place in Tokyo...but still, very, very good. The dish also came with a bowl of miso soup (good, and not overly salty) and a bowl of white rice, which I considered the most disappointing part of the meal. The rice seemed a bit dried out...not moist.... All in all, an excellent meal. I'd definitely come back.

We also shared the Kalbi, which are Korean short ribs, and they were outstanding. All three of us were on the same page about those. My son added two salmon tacos to the mix. He enjoyed them but said they did not hit quite as hard as his Mew Special Roll, which was clearly the standout of his night. It features raw tuna and what I believe is a combination of salmon and seared salmon on top. Either way, that sear flavor is really good. Worth trying if you get the chance. That said, there are still quite a few items on the menu that caught my eye and that I'd like to try. I'm going to chalk this one up to ordering the wrong dish rather than writing the place off completely. One thing that did leave a bad impression, though, was the interaction at the end of the meal. The girl who brought our check wasn't exactly rude, but she seemed visibly annoyed when we asked about using Apple Pay but ended up putting the charge on my card and it felt like asking her to bring over the Apple Pay machine was somehow inconveniencing her.
