We came here for lunch and were seated immediately. We ordered two viet iced coffees, fried pork spring rolls, and the short rub pho plus the classic pho. My husband enjoyed the fried pork spring rolls. The pho broth was good but the noodles kept falling apart - the meat and meatballs were also pretty hard to chew (not sure if it was fresh or not but didn't seem so). The short rib pho was massive (considering the price was around 30 I think that makes sense). I would recommend just getting the create your broth and keeping it about under $20. A cozy little spot for Vietnamese food near 103rd with good food and service! Their lunch specials are a decent deal so I highly recommend!! I tried their grand signature pho for their lunch special ($18) on a cold rainy day (perfect weather for pho). Nice and flavorful with different cuts of beef - their broth is on the richer side for my preference but nonetheless soothing and very filling. The second time I got their vermicelli noodle bowl which comes with vegetables and a choice of protein ($18) - I got the braised pork which is kind of salty but kinda gets balanced with the noodles and veggies. The portion size for this one is pretty massive so you def get a bang for your buck. read more

Came on a rainy/snowy day after an eye appointment. Small quaint establishment, wonderful service. Ordered the oxtail pho, which was absolutely phenomenal. Just Pho You wasn't really for me, but that's okay. They don't seem especially authentic; their BBH (Bun Ho Hue) didn't really taste much like traditional BBH at all, as it wasn't spicy or aromatic, though it was certainly flavorful and infused with lemongrass notes. The meat was delicious and tender, however. And true to their name, they were okay with substitutions, allowing me to request rice pho noodles instead of the usual BBH round noodles. I'd give them about a 7/10. Not awful but also not one of my favorite Viet restaurants in the area (that'd be Banh). Staff was friendly and helpful. Prices weren't exorbitant but not great value either. I'd come back to try their lunch menu or happy hour selections. Bathroom was on the untidy/unclean side. If it was fried with less oil and less time it would've been really tasty! I got the grand pho and was able to swap out tendons for meatballs (or any meat choice), which I thought was really nice of them to offer! It was one of the biggest portions I've gotten in nyc for pho for everything broth, meats, noodles. It was pretty good, I enjoyed it. The broth could be a bit bolder, but I'd say this was top 3 pho I've had in NYC. Sadly it's a bit far from me, so I wouldn't make the trek for it, but if I'm in the area I'd stop by! There was only 1 waiter on duty when we went, which rightfully so because we came at 9:45pm. He was really friendly and very accommodating, a bit hard to get his attention but we didn't mind it. Comparable to other Asian Cuisines, Vietnamese food was not my most common choice; prior to this I had only had a summer roll and vegetable pho before. But after visiting Just Pho You, I've expanded my palette and am excited to try and share more. The Fried Tofu Banh Mi was delicious and refreshing. Mainly; the pickled carrots and daikon, cucumber and veggies carried their own flavor profile, as did the French bread, baked fresh and delivered daily. Pho was warm and hearty and the portions for this were gigantic. I took my broth home and have had three uses. Service was quick, the waiter handled a lot of the front of store duties and you couldn't see the back but was clearly efficient. I recommend Just Pho You on the Upper West Side in 101st Street and Broadway. My fiancée and I had the lemon grass wings and the vegetarian spring rolls as an appetizer. For the entree we had beef short rib pho. The food is AMAZING. You will not be disappointed. Also the owner her name is Wan she was very welcoming and hospitable. The experience was awesome. Stopped in for dinner on a weekday. I was feeling particularly hungry so I ordered two entrees. 5/5 Lemongrass chicken vermicelli bowl - scrumptious. Absolutely delicious. The lemongrass chicken has so much flavor. Ingredients are well balanced in the bowl in terms of texture and portion. 3.5/5 Pho - broth was thin and the flavor didn't have depth. It was a fine broth but not the best compared to other places in the area. There was a good portion of meat in the bowl and the noodles had a good texture (not too starchy). The pho was good aside from the broth not being too rich. I finished almost the entire two portions in one sitting. I saved a little bit of the lemongrass vermicelli because it was so good I wanted to have some of it the next day. Would return for the lemongrass chicken. So good!! The staff was nice. The woman who took my order asked me if i wanted one item to come out before the other. I said no. When the server brought the two entrees out he told me "good for you" and that he was surprised when he saw the order come in It does seem like a place trying to elevate asian food from the interior to the pop music they play. They were advertising an event celebrating the restaurant's birthday. They'll be doing a multi-course beef dining experience. It seemed interesting. I do have to say that their bathroom is gross. It didn't look dirty but it smelled like it. They keep an oil diffuser/humidifier in the bathroom so it smells like essential oil and urine at the same time, plus its humid. But that first sip of JPY's signature "Short Rib Pho"-- suddenly I'm not on the UWS or even New York anymore. I'm not a student of a world renowned university just a few blocks down the road. I'm not a tired white-collar stiff sitting alone after yet another day of dispassionate "circling backs" and EBITDAs. I'm just a poor kid, huddled around a small kitchen table with Ba, Mẹ, as Bà Ngoại ladles a rich, oak-hued broth onto piles of steamed rice noodles lightly blanketed by beef briskets and tripe. It's strange that I had never noticed-- my pile always seemed more piled and my blankets more thick. The first spoonfuls are scaldingly hostile, leaving a tongue frustrated and speechless. But the aromatic allure of simmered bone and star anise promise so much more. Resilience is rewarded through each sip; more welcome but still foreign. At some point, what was once uncomfortable becomes savory. Spoon after spoon, bite after bite-- promise fulfilled. It's not until after that last bite-- the truth. Bittersweet. 5 star service the moment we walked through the doors. Super cute, hole-in-the-wall noodle spot. We entered unannounced with a group of 11 and were welcomed very kindly by our server. They were able to accommodate us by combining tables. (Although, please don't be like us, call ahead and make a reservation! Luckily we caught them on a night it wasn't too busy). Our servers were on point the entire service even with our large group. So kind and so friendly. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. The owner, Chef Wan greeted us during our meal and even gave us 2 desserts on the house! The food is rated 5 stars. The flavors of the Bún Bò Huế were unlike anything I've had before. If you consider yourself an adventurous foodie like myself, don't be afraid to give it a shot! They give the best description of it on their website. It even comes with its own special sauce which was slightly sweet with deep rich flavors to contrast the soup. The chocolate mousse cake was super smooth and just the right amount of sweetness. I was hoping for more. Just got the grand pho lunch special. It cost $16. I'm scared to ask what the regular price is. But that's not the worst. The grand pho is a bunch of different meats. What they don't mention is it is literally one piece of each. So meat is actually very sparse in this dish. Ordered the signature pho grand and it was very bland and lacked the depth in broth and aromatics you'd expect from a good bowl of pho. I shouldn't have to use the hoisin and Sriracha to add flavor to the pho. Even then, it was still bland, and I had to request more sauce. I still finished the bowl, but this place won't be on my rotation of places to go for pho in the UWS. Ambiance, though, is really nice and love the setting. When I first saw this place, I was really excited to have a Vietnamese spot down the block from my place. We decided to try it one cold night, and we were greeted by such a friendly owner. She described her process for making the broth, and seemed really passionate about her food. You can also tell by the interior that there was a lot of care placed in the design of the place - from the placemat to the wall decor. When the food came out, the aroma and flavor of the broth gave such comfort. We got the signature short rib pho and the meat was tender and fell off the bone. The only issue that we had was the portion. For a $27 dish, it was not filling. The flavors were all there but the portion was just not sufficient. Looking at the other pho options, $20 for the signature and $17 for the chicken, it just seems to be too expensive of a place for the amount of food you get to be something that I would frequent. read more

Found this place after needing some warm broth after a tough night of drinking. Very clean restaurant and when we went around 2pm the restaurant was empty and were seated immediately. Got the signature short rib pho and was not disappointed. The meat was so tender and not dry at all. They give you a knife to cut the meat and was really helpful in cutting the short rib. They give you a side of bean sprouts/basil/lime which i forgot to take a picture of. The broth is very smooth and clean. Almost as if I was having a healthy version of Pho (best way I can describe it). Not bad but wish I had a Pho that was bit more stronger seasoned base. They give the hoisin/sriracha sauce on the side and had to keep asking for another sauce dish. Wish they could keep the bottles at the table for convenience.
