    lemongrass pork banh mi
    Selena L.

HUGE banh mis (lasted me two meals) and way better than the crap that's available downtown... lol. The bread is soft with just the right amount of crisp on the outside, and the lemongrass pork was packed with flavor. They were very generous with the quantity of meat.

This is probably one of the best Banh Mi's I've ever had. And I've had a lot!!! The sandwich was PACKED with meat that was juicy and flavorful. It was full of fresh veggies and herbs on perfectly toasted bread. I got their famous lemongrass pork sandwich and can't wait to try every single other one!!

I CANNOT BELIEVE I HAVENT TRIED THIS PLACE SOONER! So good and super affordable! I love pork and the staff recommended the pork shoulder. So worth the price! I can't believe I was gonna get chipotle instead of this! Never again! Highly recommend if you want a an affordable and filling takeout spot in the uws! Yumm!

This bahn mi was sooo tasty. I was at a bar close by and it was the perfect takeaway meal. It was fast, nice person taking the order, good service. It's a small place. There was just one person at the cash register taking orders, only takeout, no tables to sit and eat. It definitely worked for our needs.

Holy cow! This place has been on my list to try for a while and I finally made it this week. I'm so made I waited as long as I did to try it. I got the lemon grass pork banh mi sandwich and it was PERFECT! The meat was so tender and flavorful. All the sandwich toppings were so fresh. Huge portion for the price too! Will definitely be back!

Amazing Vietnamese spot (takeout only). Grabbed lunch with a friend on a weekday and there was no line. Lemongrass roast pork bahn mi was perfect, and the sticky rice and red curry chicken pouch was also excellent. Definitely recommended for delicious bahn mi in the area!

I wasn't expecting much for such a tiny shop I found while in the area. There's no place to sit but that wasn't a problem!! The park is 4 blocks down. The bread was so flaky and the breaded chicken was so perfectly fried. I honestly could not be more happy about how my sandwich turned out!! It's one of those happy accident discoveries that end up becoming a favorite. I'm going to come back with a friend!! And this was a 30 min commute from my neighborhood so that's saying something

I loved this sandwich! I've eaten a lot of banh mi sandwiches and this ranks really high on my list. New York isn't exactly known for good Vietnamese food, so finding one is always a pleasant surprise. For the location and amount of food, it's a decent price. I ordered the lemongrass pork banh mi with all the toppings and it just hit every note. It's made a bit differently from a traditional banh mi (no butter and pate), but the spicy mayo worked well! The meat was flavorful and tender, the pickled veggies added a good brightness, and the bread was soft (in a good way). There are no complaints from me and Saiguette is worth the trip this far uptown!

I had the lemongrass pork banh mi and it was the best banh mi I've had in my life. I had it standing on the sidewalk outside, highly recommend. I cannot go back to eat here again.

Quick service and fair price for the quality, freshness and flavor you get. The grilled lemongrass pork was so flavorful and juicy. This was one of the best banh mi I've ever had. So delicious!!!

Still the best bahn mi in NYC! Had the roast pork bahn mi again which was huge! Definitely generous portion of roast pork-eclipses the veggies but I'm not complaining. Next time I will have the lemongrass pork bahn mi to mix it up. They renovated the interior so no more stools to sit. Take out only.

Probably one of the best Been trying all different places and have yet to eat anything better Even the spare rib is amazingly good

I love this little takeout only shop in the UWS. It reminds me of cheap Chinese eats that are grab and go but it's Vietnamese. I feel like the prices don't technically categorize it as part of that type of restaurants, but regardless the food is always pretty solid. Came on a weekend and even though there was a party of 10 people before us who had just ordered, our food came out within 10 minutes which is great. Pro-tip: Grab the food and head over to Central Park for a beautiful lunch in the park. I got the Roasted Pork Shoulder Banh Mi and the portion sizes were huge. Honestly I could eat this sandwich for two meals due to the amount of meat they gave you. The pork itself is incredibly tender and flavorful and I love the slight charred taste on it. I also liked the other veggies they had on it as well although I wish that the vegetables were slightly more pickled to counteract the meatiness of the pork. Overall, not a bad cheap eat on UWS and will definitely be back for more.

Any idea or updates as to what's going on with this place? This was my favorite spot for comfort food in nyc.

Same! The owners of Saiguette have another restaurant called Vietnaam on 2nd Avenue and 88th Street. I got take-out there last night and asked about Saiguette. They said it's being renovated but should re-open in a couple months!

Anyone know if they're really going to reopen? Was my favorite spot and I never really understood why they closed since their entire business is takeaway. Bummed and hoping the proprietors are well, but the reopening date keeps getting pushed back.

I feel the same way. Very weird that they didn't stay open, they would've made a fortune during the pandemic. I don't know when they'll open but I do know that the owners also own "Vietnaam 88" on 2nd Ave with a similar menu. Someone asked them when… Read more

Hi! Are you expected to reopen on Nov 2?

As of 11/10, they seem to still be closed per their website and voicemail message. :-(

    Does this place deliver?

Yes, but you need to call in your order. They're not on Seamless.

Do they have a working phone number? The number listed is disconnected and I'm trying to place an order for pick up with cash which can't be done through door dash.

When it finally arrived, the soup lacked that authentic pho aroma, which was a letdown. On the plus side, the beef was fresh, and the reusable to-go bag was a nice touch. I ordered "Plain Pho", which is described as just broth and noodles, no garnish or meat. After waiting 30 minutes, for what is literally the simplest item on the menu, the bowl is brought out and it's a bowl of broth with a couple slices of chicken. No noodles. When I inquired, the server told me it's because I ordered the Plain Pho... yea and I said it comes with noodles and broth. They told me they could get me noodles, but acted like they were doing me a favor by fetching noodles for me, which was quite offputting because the noodles were quite literally half of the dish I actually ordered. How does one wait half-an-hour at a very casual fast Vietnamese food place, for premade soup and noodles, and still have the order wrong? In the end, I did get my noodles and broth, but the fact that I had to spend this much time and also justify my request for noodles (which are part of the dish) is quite insane. I put this at 2 stars for now, because I enjoyed my first time. Hopefully the service will improve.
