We got the fried spring rolls (there's 4 decent sized rolls), summer rolls, and the pork shoulder banh mi. The banh mi isn't traditional like with pate but the meat is SO flavorful!!! I like the spicy sauce as well. The bread isn't super crispy like traditional banh mi but it is still fresh and delicious. I enjoyed the fried spring rolls and banh mi - would come back! I wasn't expecting much for such a tiny shop I found while in the area. There's no place to sit but that wasn't a problem!! The park is 4 blocks down. New York isn't exactly known for good Vietnamese food, so finding one is always a pleasant surprise. For the location and amount of food, it's a decent price. Some items have gotten smaller over time, like spring rolls and banh mi, but the taste is still good. Pho broth is good and I like that you can get tripe and tendon. I love this little takeout only shop in the UWS. It reminds me of cheap Chinese eats that are grab and go but it's Vietnamese. I feel like the prices don't technically categorize it as part of that type of restaurants, but regardless the food is always pretty solid. Came on a weekend and even though there was a party of 10 people before us who had just ordered, our food came out within 10 minutes which is great. Pro-tip: Grab the food and head over to Central Park for a beautiful lunch in the park. I got the Roasted Pork Shoulder Banh Mi and the portion sizes were huge. Honestly I could eat this sandwich for two meals due to the amount of meat they gave you. The pork itself is incredibly tender and flavorful and I love the slight charred taste on it. I also liked the other veggies they had on it as well although I wish that the vegetables were slightly more pickled to counteract the meatiness of the pork. There are a few weird actors in this area which obviously is not the fault of this little shop that doesn't allow people inside anyway so just be aware of that but if you're just picking up here it should be harmless. I've gotten banh mi, pho, vermicelli bowls here and they're generally good. The food is packed tightly and is quite good value. The first time I got pho here it was soo good but not nearly as good the second time and I'm not sure why. I dropped a star for lack of consistency. Wow! I had this place bookmarked for a while, but since it was kind of out of the way for me, I never had the chance to visit until recently. I will definitely be back very soon! I recommend making an order online to reduce the waiting time. There were already large orders in front of me when I arrived 30 minutes after opening. There's no seating area inside, so you'll have to wait outside for your order since the inside waiting area can only fit 3 people max. I ordered the pork belly and pork shoulder banh mi. The meat is sooo tender and flavorful. They cook the meat on a fire grill, so there's a nice char on the meat as well. Both proteins were good, but I prefer the pork belly because the fat amplifies the flavor more. They charge extra to have the veggies on the side ($.50), but I recommend it so your sandwich doesn't get soggy. The bread is also soft here, which I like. Other places use bread that's a little harder and it ends up scraping the roof of my mouth, but no issues here. You can ask for the bread to be toasted too. I also got an order of the nem (egg rolls) and it was sooo good. The order came out perfectly crispy and not too oily. It came with more pieces than I thought, so it was a nice start to the meal. The fish sauce is really good too - not too fishy or tangy like other places and paired nicely with the nem. Probably the best banh mi I had in NYC, so I'm looking forward to trying other menu items. I think it's best to order ahead of time anyway, and they do have delivery services via their own, or any of the popular ones. Would definitely recommend any of the banh mi (the sandwich), but the classic with pâté is my favorite. As for the rice dishes, I like the chicken rice plate. Saiguette has my favorite Bahn Mi in the entire city and I only live a couple blocks away. The veggies are crisp, the lemon grass pork is so tasy, and the bread is perfectly soft but holds it all together. Anything on the menu is great and we also enjoy their steamed broccoli and massive pork buns. It's a cute little takeaway shop with a very friendly, fast service.
