Great food and service and well balanced drinks at a reasonable price, the ambience was nice very relaxing vibe with view of the golf course and sunset. The Halibut dish reminded me of a crab cake - like a decomposed version of it. Everything was done well and the portions were very generous. I'd definitely visit again.

Had breakfast down in Jute every morning. My husband always ordered the yogurt parfait and I had the fruit bowl. One morning I had oatmeal. Service was excellent!! Coffee is served in a carafe, so our cups were always full. Huge windows look out to the golf course. A very pleasant start to the day!

We were staying at the west drift and came for breakfast but because it was 10:45, they were turning over for lunch. First bummer! I really wanted to give this place a good review but the service was too slow and just lacked engagement. I write this with the caveat that I totally understand that this could have been a bad day for the server or they were short staffed. I'm not sure if it's a California thing where you have to ask for water (drought?) but we didn't get any or was offered any at any point during the whole meal. The food was good though, I ordered this scallop appetizer that was very flavorful and quite hearty. My daughter's bagel with cream cheese..not so extraordinary. To cap it off, no one wanted to take my money. I had to literally go up to the bar to find bodies to ask them to settle my bill. There are a ton of other great eating spots within walking distance...check those out! I got better service with my short interaction picking up last night's take out from Bruxie than I did being here for over an hour with this crew. It could have been an off day but perception is reality and I believe we can always be improving.

    Huevos Rancheros, so good!!

This restaurant is ok. I mean for a hotel you expect a bit better. I got the breakfast buffet and everything was cold and hard. Mind you it was only 9am. The one thing I loved was the huevos rancheros. Sadly even though the breakfast was included I had to pay for my plate beCause you don't get credit.

    Shishito peppers. Absolutely amazing!

Lost a star with every course. Not to mention the lackluster service. Un-im-pressed. I was staying at the Westdrift on business, got in about 7:00 from Austin (so tired), and just wanted to stay in the hotel. Jute looked like a good option, with a good looking (but expensive) menu and some good Yelp reviews. Things started off great with the Shishito peppers, and I mean fantastically great. If it weren't for the service (more on that in a bit) I was all set for a sterling review. I like Shishito's in the first place; usually they are blistered and prepared with a little sea salt. I was a little skeptical of these, as they come with a little soy sauce, lime, and garlic. Turned out to be out of this world good. Crazy good. I could have had those all night. Based on the peppers I could not wait to try the Spanish Shrimps I ordered for my main. This was a "share or not share" plate, tapas style. However, whether you share or not just be prepared that it is not very good. My main complaint is that the shrimp were way overcooked. So much so that I considered sending it back. The sauce was also off-putting. It was tomato based, with some heat, and pieces of chorizo. Weird chorizo. Not ground, as I thought I'd get, but little pieces of a chorizo sausage that had the consistency of a "little smokie's". Strange. There was a bread garnish that didn't add much. After the peppers I was so disappointed!! Well, I thought maybe dessert would redeem Jute and maybe salvage a review. Nope. I had what have to be the most tasteless doughnuts ever fried. They looked great - just no flavor. Not exactly pillowy either - more like fried an hour ago. Some plain and not impressive ice cream to accompany this last gasp from the kitchen. Bummer. The service, as said was lackluster at best. Not an unfriendly server, just apathetic and missing most of the time. It was not exactly busy, so I don't get why I had to flag down my server for things. He also acted pained to be serving me, like he really had something better to do. Nice view of the golf course, if you like that sort of view. There look to be lots of great restaurants close to the beach. Next time I'll try one of those. No more Jute.

Tiramisu, Key lime in the background.

Definitely get the Thai Chicken dinner Entree (very moist and delicious, hands down better than any Thai dish I have had in Thai restaurants, and thats saying a lot, because we aren't in a Thai restaurant. It was so good we came back down the next day and ordered it again), Ahi Tuna Ceviche, and LAX to JFK Cocktail drink (Get your camera ready), and for salad get the buratta and watermelon salad. Desserts I would say the Tiramisu is the best and the way they present it is in a bowl. What I just mentioned is probably the best they have on their menu. I highly recommend coming for dinner (5pm and after) since that is when the dinner menu will be available. I came for lunch but left since the lunch menu wasn't really exciting. There is someone who made a bad review about the food earlier but it is pretty obvious they had other issues with the hotel unrelated to the food but had to passive aggressively put down the restaurant for some odd reason.... anyway the food was extremely good and I posted some photos of it. A full course meal for two people that includes appetizers and dessert and a drink will run you about $100-$130, not too bad at all for what they serve you. Also about 80% of their waitress staff gives great customer service the way it was meant to be. After all the bad service I have been receiving at other hotel restaurants, it feels refreshing and a huge relief to actually get some good service once in a while. Even the waitress that served us the day before (amazing service by a russian lady forgot her name but she was great) came by to say hello and bid us goodbye on our last day eating at the restaurant...phenomenal. Also the restaurant is located inside the amazing Westdrift Hotel which also has the most amazing rooms compared to anywhere I have been in California. The only hotel that comes close to Westdrift is the Paseo Hotel in Huntington Beach and the Avenue of The Arts, Costa Mesa. Either way definitely give Jute a try. I am starting to believe the reason why they don't have reviews on here is that people want to keep the place secret.

I'm not one to eat at the hotel I'm staying at, but I break my rule every time I find myself at the Westdrift. I've only ever had breakfast here but literally everything I have had here is incredible! They have a beautiful outdoor setting, overlooking their golf course. It is extremely serene. Their breakfast chia bowl is DA BOMB!!! I got their fresh squeezed OJ and it was super fresh.

Such a lovely space and staff. I was guided from the elevator by a lovely employee who lead me to the restaurant, Jute. I was served by Jordan who encompasses hospitality he was considerate and attentive to my needs and my craziness of consistent relocating away from the sun while working on my laptop. He was accommodating to my work session and even broke up my time with a casual conversation about future travel work plans. Please come visit this location as a local or traveler - you will not be disappointed!

He was attentive, friendly, and always checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. One thing to keep in mind: it can get pretty windy up there since you're close to the airport, so bring a light jacket or dress accordingly. Thankfully, they have fire pits and heat lamps that help keep everyone warm and comfortable. Overall, we had a wonderful time and I'd definitely come back to try more items on the menu. The highlight of the night was definitely the drinks. We asked for something fun, and the manager surprised us with a couple of off-menu cocktails that were creative, delicious, and honestly the coolest drinks we've had in a while. They were pricey, but the presentation and quality made them worth trying. Unfortunately, the service took a turn after that. The manager disappeared for what I assume was a break, leaving a single server to cover the entire rooftop. We completely understand that things happen and it wasn't the server's fault, but we ended up waiting around an hour to an hour and a half without anyone checking on us. We wanted to order another round of drinks, but the server was constantly rushing past trying to keep up with everyone else. Eventually, we gave up, walked to the bar ourselves, paid our tab, and left. Flora has a great atmosphere, beautiful views, and some genuinely impressive cocktails. If they can improve the staffing during busy hours, this place would easily earn a higher rating from me.

It's literally walking distance from our hotel in Torrance -- so close we actually walked past it the first time without even realizing it was there. Super hidden, easy to miss. The space itself is small, and when you first walk in it doesn't hit you with an over-the-top tiki vibe right away. But once the drinks start coming out, it fully delivers. The glassware is so fun and themed -- I was obsessed with the flamingo cup and actually ended up buying a couple online since I couldn't take the real one home with me. Drink-wise, I stuck mostly to my usual zombie, which has this great earthy, cinnamon-y flavor that's just different from anything else -- does the trick every time (there's a two-drink max/minimum on it, which I respect). We also tried a Makahiki Mua and a Painkiller, both really solid. The Makahiki Mua had a fun flavor, kind of similar to a Painkiller, but the zombie is still my go-to. Service was pretty good overall -- the bartender stayed mostly in one corner of the bar, which actually worked in our favor since we got served fast. A couple of small quirks though: they only have a limited number of menus, so we kept having to pass one back and forth around the bar, which felt a little silly. They also seemed to be running low on drink cups at times, having to wash and rotate them back into use, which was an odd thing to notice at a bar this size. Also wish they had some food or snacks available, even something small -- but that's a minor gripe. Vibe-wise, this is easily one of my favorite tiki lounges I've been to -- doesn't quite topple Broken Compass Tiki for me, but it's up there. Fun, easy, great drinks, solid service despite the small hiccups, and a perfect spot if you're staying in the Torrance area. Would absolutely go back and would recommend it to anyone chasing that tiki lounge crawl.

To drink, I had the refreshing Lychee Mocktail, and we also tried King Plus's five-sake flight, which is a great way to experience a variety of authentic Japanese sakes. Then we headed inside for the hot pot experience. We sampled four different broths--Kombu, Tonkotsu, Spicy Miso, and Sukiyaki--before cooking premium beef and fresh seafood right at our table.
