What happened to the good service we used to have at this place? This used to be our go to for American Prime burger. It's been nicely renovated and very cute inside but wow did the service just go downhill. We were waiting for over 15 minutes just to be seated. No workers anywhere! My husband even went to the bar area to look for someone to seat us...no one was around. A kitchen person came in (maybe starting a shift?), and he didn't even say anything. We had been coming here almost every other week. My son and my brother love their burger! My boyfriend and I usually would get the steak and eggs and the pasta 3 times the steak did not taste good. I used to like this location, but it has gone downhill. Service was remarkably slow on a Monday night when only three tables were occupied. It took almost half an hour for our salad to be delivered, and that only arrived when it did because I asked a server if it had been forgotten. She also mentioned that the chicken sandwich was ready, but they were waiting on my burger to deliver it. Both arrived about ten minutes later, and the sandwich was just warm rather than hot. A kitchen that can't manage to get two sandwiches out fresh when there are only seven customers in the dining room is having trouble. The guac lacked flavor, didn't have that tang and flavor that you would get from a Mexican place. The steak sandwich was the above average part of everything, steak was tender and they had some tomato and sauce in it to make this a solid sandwich. Third time passing by this joint, we decided to check in. We were seated right away, our server was so kind, helpful and attentive. Teresa checked on us very often to see how we were enjoying the food. We had their "fish and chips;" "braised short rib tacos;" "seared ahi salad;" and their to die for "Cup home made tomato soup" No I didnt want to die yet coz it was soo delicious. Creamy thick not salty or too sweet but just right to make you slap whoever is in front of you. It came with toasted cheese bread which made the dish more interesting. Sadly a disappointing experience. The fish tacos were extremely salty which had a preserved cod taste. My mother-law and son couldn't eat them. Both the Steak and scrabbled eggs came overdone, potatoes tasted like they were made the day ago. Sourdough bread tastes like cheap wonder bread. To top it off, the side of pico de gallo in the plastic ramekin was rancid. There went my wife's omelette which she top it off with. I went in on this past Sunday (August 4th) in the early afternoon... after wondering the streets looking for parking. Helpful hint: they have limited parking in the rear. I didn't know this before I arrived so I parked on the street down by the Post Office. Kelly was my server I sat at the Bar and watched the Olympics. I had the Chilaquiles but that was only because I had the Eggs Benedict the day before at another restaurant. Chilaquiles had a great spicy flavor (not to much but enough) I asked for my eggs over easy and they came as I wished for. I had a side of the deep fried grits, it is the vessel the Eggs Benedict is served on, they didn't have a lot of flavor and I couldn't taste the cheese in them so I dropped it into my Chilaquiles bowl LMAO!! The Guava mimosa was refreshing. Kelly cared for me nicely as I sat at the bar by myself I watched as she made small talk with me and took care of other guests needs and kept on top of the servers orders. Atmosphere in here is so nice and relaxing I would definitely recommend a return... it was a overcast 73 degree day - which after coming from the IE (107 + degrees) it was welcomed. Long story but essentially they gave my vegetarian friend meat after we confirmed twice it was the vegetarian option. They comped her entree and gave us a $50 gift card. We went to brunch yesterday and ordered the chilaquiles. My friend has been a vegetarian for 20 years and asked if they could do them without the chorizo salsa. They confirmed they could. I also ordered the chilaquiles but with meat. When the server dropped off the food she asked who has the vegetarian chilaquiles and handed my friend a plate then gave me the other. My friend again asked, "these are the vegetarian ones right?", the server said yes. After several minutes I notice that mine have a green salsa with no sign of meat. By the time I realized the mistake, my friend had already eaten a good portion of her food. I asked for the manager and explained to her what happened. She said "I am very sorry. What would you like me to do?" I have worked in customer service and been a manager of a restaurant, this response is a pet peeve of mine. I should not be solving the problem on the restaurants behalf. I asked that my friends meal be comped which the manager agreed to. My friend went to the bathroom to deal with the emotions of going 20 years no meat and how devastating this was for her. I went into the restaurant and explained to the manager that we want the entire meal comped. This may not seem like a large deal to the manager, but it is a huge deal for someone who doesn't eat meat. She said she doesn't have permission to comp the entire meal but will speak to her manager. She also said "I am assuming she can't eat meat for religious purposes" which was like wtf?!? Around 20 minutes later she came and informed that she would not comp the whole meal but did comp my friends meal and drinks. She also gave us a $50 gift card that cannot be used for 24 hours, essentially, forcing us to come spend more money there. This was frustrating to say the least. I would not recommend this place if this is how they handle a major mistake like this. Imagine if she had been allergic or like my husband who has PKU and is medically unable to eat meat. We shouldn't have to tell them why there is a dietary restriction. read more

I've always passed by this place when heading down to the pier, however, never ate here thinking it was a basic food restaurant. To my surprise it was a cool place to have brunch! There's plenty of beers and cocktails to choose from plus the bottomless mimosas are a nice treat on the weekends. I tried the Chicken and Avocado Burrito Wet from their brunch menu. So delicious! Definitely try it wet as it adds so much flavor. The Healthy Steak Salad was excellent as well. Full of flavor and the hangar steak slices were so tender! The Truffle and Parmesan French Fries were good to share or pairs well with their Burger of the Day. The place feels nice and airy with the back door open and the front open to the sidewalk. It's a rustic modern home feel with TVs to watch sports. I like the idea of being able to sit in different areas (backyard, main dining area, smaller quieter back room, outside front patio or next to the fireplace). It definitely accommodates different types of gatherings. I thought it was a cool space for kids with the free video game when adult conversations aren't as enjoyable. The staff checked on us frequently and made the day more enjoyable with their friendly demeanor. This place has a cool vibe with tasty food. We stumbled upon this beautiful gem while traveling up the California coastline on a mini-vacation, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. The service was outstanding, some of the best we experienced in California. The entire team made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we walked in. The atmosphere was incredible, but the food somehow managed to top it. The Rockefeller Mess was packed with flavor, and the Gourmet Burger absolutely did not disappoint. The mango mojito was interesting, not much mango flavor, but tasty nevertheless. The burger was perfection as was the fired zucchini, I especially liked that they were real thick cuts not the thinner too-fried crummy soggy versions I have seen many times before. The fried chicken sandwich was well prepared and tasty as well. There are numerous good choices here! The service was just average though, as our nice server forgot to follow up on a couple of things and apparently went on a long break without getting someone to fill in so there was no one to help for over 25 minutes. Food came out same time as our appetizers and they missed one of the appetizers. The Poke/chips looked rather odd. The ahi poke's color was a bit off. This is a neighborhood restaurant in the best sense! Excellent service, great menu, fresh and delicious food, casual but elegant space, and the warmest welcomes around. It's also an incredible family restaurant where you can actually bring your kids (complete with a kids menu and table heights that are better for little children). I recently came on a whim for their Tuesday burger night special and had such a great time that I booked a large group reservation for brunch soon after. The food is super good for a great price (especially being so close to the beach in LA South Bay) but what really takes the cake is the absolute superior service I got here, when there were just two of us, and when there were 8 of us including two little kids with severe food allergies. The menu truly has something for everyone, which is often not the case at other places. I was impressed that they were able to answer every question regarding allergens and make changes and accommodations without giving anyone a hard time. Bc of their allergies the kids were able to eat here and feel normal, not ostracized, which was great bc it was their first experience dining in a restaurant (first timers due to Covid and their severe allergies). Food reccs: - Sweet potato bombs-- they're curried and so fragrant! Great appetizer - The burgers! - Salads are huge and super fresh - The on-tap lemonade rose! It's so refreshing followed by a zap of tart lemon, so unique! For such a large group experience, they truly took care of us, letting us have a great space in the back room that gave us privacy and also checking in on us frequently. There are 3 Rockefellers in South Bay, but this one was recently remodeled and it's pretty nice inside. The only challenge is parking (there's a small lot in back otherwise metered street parking that's hard to get) but that's not the restaurants fault. This restaurant is an ASSET to the community. Unbelievable find! Tuesdays are $2 burger nights and we are talking a delicious ground prime rib American classic burger with carmelized onions, delicious sauce, and all the fixings. The bun is grilled and large but airy, not too dense. But that's not all, Liam is a dream! He is friendly, charismatic and memorized everyone's order. No notes needed. He checked on us regularly and was so friendly. We also had the mac and cheese and zucchini fries. Both were delicious as well.
