I went in on Thursday. I walked in a man asked how could he help. I showed him two different designs I would like. He says pick out a color. Why? I just showed him the color I wanted. So he hands me a basket with what seemed to be 1000 different polishes and designs. Huh? He finally sits down and starts talking about my small nail bed. OK so he starts messing with his phone. Throughout the time he does my nails he's not talking but steady looking at his phone. I was not a fan of this place. Needless to say my nails don't look like either of the two designs and shapes I showed him. This was a waste of time and money. I should have taken the reviews seriously. Came here to get a pedicure before the Charlotte marathon this coming weekend. Ended up with a painful experience. She replaced my small callus to raw skin. I'll never come here again or recommend. She had the nerve to say the callus was removed and it hurts cause it healed, WTH. She wanted to continue massaging my feet and legs I told her to please stop cause the pain wasn't going away not the blood rushing from the wound. I left in a bandage and pain. There was no compensation or consideration for the port service rendered. Still charged me full price. This ruined my day. read more

I went in for a full set. The one lady seemed very nice but there was another lady who ended up doing my nails. It was by FAR the worst experience I've ever had at a salon. During the process I told her that I wanted my nails short which she made a face and seemed bothered by that. Then as she was buffing them she cut my finger. A few minutes later I flinched in pain so much that I pulled my hand away. She replied with, "this is why I hate short nails." A few minutes later she cut a third finger. She finished my full set in 18 minutes. She didn't even put a top shiny coat on. When I left she said, "I'll be more gentle next time." I responded with there won't be a next time. I left there and went home and by that evening my fingers were hurting so bad. It was an awful experience, she was very rude, and my nails look pretty rough. I would highly recommend not going here. I recently had a mani and pedi at this place. I have been going to them for more than year now. I normally do shellac on my hands but decided to go with regular polish. I had them done on Tuesday and by the time i got home i already had chip and next day the whole polished peeled off from most of my nails. So i went there Thursday to get them repainted and i explained to them what happened. Instead of saying sorry we will fix it, she is arguing thats how regular polish is and you should do shellac. Not the first time I am putting nail polish on my hands, i can understand in chipping but not to have the whole polish just peel off from my nails. I will never go back to this place, they obviously do not care to keep their customer happy especially when you go to them regularly. I dont recommend this place to anyone. read more

Soo, this would've been a wonderful review but I decided against it. I went in to get a new set of SNS yesterday, and I get SNS for the purpose of nail health. Yes I add tips but my nails underneath are kept up. The man who did my nails was soo rough and excessive drilling that he took half of one of my nails off and I said something and he said oops and cut it all the way off (this was after I had told him multiple times he was drilling way too much and my nails were burning). That's when the attitude started. I pay for a service so I expect to get the exact service I paid for exactly how I want it done. He gets through the sns and one of my nails is crooked like hanging to the right, and I told him it was crooked and shorter than all of the rest he said okay I'm gonna cut them all. I said No, they don't need to be cut I like the length, you need to fix the nail that's messed up. He said well how you want me to fix it. (Idk genius you're the nail tech not me but I'm not cutting my nails down to make your life easier) that still won't make it less crooked. So he gets mad throws his stuff down and cuts my nail with the clippers all the way to the nub, and I said excuse me you just cut my whole nail off *AGAIN* and he said something smart under his breath, throwing my hands around. By this point I'm mad and ready to go. I let him finish my nails and I also left a tip, but I will never give my money to that place again. Could've had a regular who would've tipped well. My nails came out decent thought after correcting him throughout the whole process, having my cuticles burned off, and half of my nails cut and the ones that didn't get cut have space in between the tip and my nail, yay bacteria under my nails . They had the potential to be good! The service was great starting off, i went on a Sunday they open at 12 i was there by 12:20. They sat me in the chair while i waited for a tech to finish some other customer, plus for them he allowed my feet soak. The lady that did my pedicure was very detailed i enjoyed it, i didn't love the way she shaped my toe nail but whatever no big deal. then it was time for my manicure, that's where it went bad. the guy John was good, however he rushed through it. I had a dark blue SNS dip on my nails and as switching it to a light pink. He did a good job with the dip however i can still see the blue around the edges of my nails. I had broke one of my nails so i insisted he cut them down so they all will match, he didn't want to he wanted to add a fake nail.. no sir just cut them down, so he did but not enough. I liked how he applied the dip it's not too thick but the blue is driving me crazy and the broken nail i had he filed that down too much i started bleeding. Now it's super sore. Leaving out i hit my foot on the car door and ruined my pedi but i was so annoyed i just left went home and repolished my toes. Got a full set of gel nails done here this past Saturday. I came around 10:45 and had to wait about 20 minutes to be seen. I almost left because I didn't feel like waiting but I'm glad I stayed. I would definitely suggest coming early or making an appointment because they got extremely busy out if nowhere. They are also in a popular, convenient location so grab Starbucks while you wait to be seen. I haven't had a set done in years and this was my first gel set ever. No complaints. I'm a chronic nail biter and I'm so in love with these nails. They definitely got a new customer. I can't stop looking at them. None of the staff members were rude to me or my boyfriend- you just have to be culturally competent when dealing with people of backgrounds other than your own and how to speak to other people (in general) respectfully. read more

2.75 hours is how long I was here today for a basic pedicure and a dip manicure. They were short staffed - only four techs - but they kept saying yes to more customers. Everybody was waiting. People with appointments only got half the service requested because their wait was so long. The wait would have been worth it if the quality was there but it wasn't. I had tons of gunk on and under my fingers after the dip and was told it would just wash off. This is after a fair amount of picking at it. I wish I could give 0 stars! This was the absolute WORST nail experience of my life!!!!!! First of all, they soaked off the SNS I had for almost an hour!! RIDICULOUS! It soaked for almost the entire duration of my pedicure. And then when they finally took it off, my nails had weakened from the long soak and they were super rough and broke my nails! So now I had to get tips .... unhappy. I tell the tech I want coffin shape... she proceeds to file it Square.... I said no I want coffin .... another tech had to come file. Then she didn't even make my nails the same length!!! Who walks around with nails professionally done and they are all different lengths????? That's so tacky! I had to check behind every single nail and compare. Needless to say..... I DO NOT recommend this place at all. There is a nail shop just on the other side of the parking lot.... go there. My nails were average at best and the white gel polish chipped within 4 days. There is a MAJOR ventilation problem here and it was difficult for me to stick around. The space is cramped and they seemed understaffed when I was there. They told everyone who walked in that they would be seen in 10 minutes. Impossible. The language barrier was frustrating, as my technician didn't speak English and everything had to be translated. Had my eyebrows done earlier today. I have sparse brows and I know how difficult it is to shape my brows because I'm bald in some spots. With that being said, I made sure to explain to the lady doing my eyebrows how I wanted them to be waxed. I walked out of there with the worst eyebrow waxing job I have ever had. It was completely wrong. I moved out here from California for a new job and I'm in the process of trying to find a new hair stylist, nail tech, and esthetician...I won't be going back to this place again. John does an amazing job on my nails. He is the only one I trust! I will say that anytime anyone else does my service, something is always wrong. Luckily today John did do my full set and toe polish, but unfortunately someone else rang me up to pay. I noticed the girl charged me $10 more than I usually pay. I informed her of the mistake and even showed her the prices listed on their website. She did not care and proceeded to swipe my card for the wrong amount even though I was disputing the price. She looked at the prices on the site and just said it's probably wrong. I should have been more cautious, because when I was waiting to get my services, another girl was complaining that they over charged her and could not explain why. I was very disappointed with my experience at check-out today. I'm usually not one to complain or leave bad reviews, but she did not even care to fix her mistake! Been here twice; both times I had very little wait which was great. However, the first time, I got a mani/pedi. The polish from the pedi was completely (literally) gone after about a week. Normally polish lasts about 3 weeks on my toes. Thought it was just a fluke so went back a second time; got gel on hands and feet. Even with 3 coats on my nails, the gel polish started peeling at the base within 6 days!!!! So I will not be going back! read more

Short history before I review JV Nails Spa......I have been going to the same nail tech in the University area for over 10 years; i even followed my nail tech to a different shop. This shop has the gel, acrylic, and SNS. I have been growing out my 'natural nails' and staying away from the acrylic, however, the SNS choices at this particular nail shop only has about 20 - 25 colors....and I'm bored of them. The last time I went, my nail tech did an SNS base with a gel color on top; which i have asked for before. Normally, my nails hold up well,no breaking, cracking, splitting, etc...... and then i go to Carowinds. Fast forward 2 weeks to yesterday evening,,,,,my niece tags me on a Facebook post with JV Nails Spa. she had me as soon as I saw ALLLLLLLL the SNS powder options...over 400! OMG- how would i ever choose? Would trying another nail salon be considered 'cheating' on my nail tech of over 10 years?!?!? So, I decided to give it a try. I called Thursday evening around 5:30 and was able to get an appointment for 9:30 this morning. I walked in, and was greeted by one of the female nail techs, and the manager himself (which by the way, he responds to yelp reviews!) and he walked me through signing in through computer, yes, computer because apparently you earn points for visiting?!?! - Super cool- I sat in the pedicure chair, and was even given a pillow for behind my back - I'm super short and had a problem reaching the water in the tub- and then the FUN started. I chose the delux (#4) pedicure which came with HOT stones and my choice of 'flavor - specials lotions & masks just for you- and added paraffin for my feet for the same price i would pay at the other shop!! So, as I'm relaxing, another female nail tech comes over and starts on my nails. She removed my old gel and SNS base coat, shaped my nails, buffed, filed, and even dipped my nails! (Normally, according to the one nail tech, 2 people to one customer doesn't happen UNLESS they are slow, i was the first client of the day) I am overly impressed with JV Nails Spa. Not only are they clean, preices are reasonable, they have promotions every month (July - $5 off SNS) and friendly, but a lot of the conversation between nail techs was in English - O.M.G.- I know! The only time I really heard any of the nails techs speak in native language was questioning. Please don't take this the wrong way, it was a nice change to hear and understand conversations and not feel like you were being talked about. I most definitely need to take my niece here, because without her tagging me in a facebook post, I would have missed out on an amazing experience today!
