I came to My Nail Bar for a nail appointment in the morning and was really impressed by all of the accommodations that were put in for COVID-19. Everyone was super spaced out, they require masks, and they require hand washing right when you came in. At no point did I feel unsafe. I got the deluxe jelly pedicure and a full set. I liked the deluxe jelly, but will probably only continue to get it when I really want to treat myself. My full set came out so beautiful! The person who did my nails (I completely forgot her name unfortunately but she was young and blonde I think) was so detail oriented and you could tell she really cared about making sure the nails came out looking nice, which I appreciated. I even asked her several times if she understood what I was asking for. I preface with, the extra star given is due to politeness from the staff. Let's start from the beginning- I went in for a fill-in. I normally go to a place in Locust but needed somewhere close to work, after reading reviews, this looked the best closest to the university area. I got there right after opening and had no wait, which was nice. They started to sand down the original gel and I decided to go with matte white, which I've done before but from another salon, that was my first mistake, as they assured me they could do it. After over an hour, they finish, nails looked....ok, to say the least. I went back to work and the more I looked at them I noticed they were clunky, thick, bubbly, milky, chalky looking. I called them and said I was unsatisfied with them, they said to come back in, which is why the second star is selected. They claim the matte polish is what created this, they sanded it down, re-painted and tried again, and they still looked bad. The tried a polish top instead of matte and were all oohing and ahing saying it looked better and bringing over other technicians blaming the matte polish. I can tolerate this paint job but will not be going back. My nails are still thick and chunky looking, they didn't sand all the original gel off and just piled it on top, as well as used too many layers of paint. Not my cup of tea and I learned my lesson for branching out. read more

Had the worst experience ever!!!! Ask the tech to remove ingrown mail she cut skin and made nail bleed!!! The entire service she had to be guided and directed on what to do! Tech added scrub to legs and didn't even get it all off before she overloaded legs with oil which she did not remove, I got up from chair with scrub and an abundance of oil still left on my legs. I paid for service then asked for manager where I explained this was the WORST pedicure service I have ever had, she proceeds to ask what did I want her to do then advises she couldn't give me the service for free. I never asked for a free service!!!! She said she could offer a discount, then turns around and walks back to her client without doing anything!!! Love this "bar". I am a chronic nail biter as well as skin picker so my nails always look horrendous but I am going to a few events coming up. They serve water and wine. If I didn't go first thing in the morning, I would've ordered a glass. The set up is literally like a bar with plentiful seating and a smart set-up. I got a full acrylic set with gel nail polish ($37). I love my nails and the prices are fair. DND nail polish was used and they had plenty of options for colors and brands. Though this place was super relaxing, I had a strange experience with one of the customer. Firstly about the services, was super good. I chose jelly pedicure and regular manicure. It was so good. It comes with jelly poured into the water , a nice cream , a good massage. This pedicure is a must for someone whose toes and feet needs that relaxation. Secondly, as I was waiting for my turn , one of the customer was so judging enough to ask me that am I here for threading or waxing , just by a sign!! How rude is that? And also, this person goes beyond her senses asking every customer who was waiting on what they are getting done, so that she is not missing her 6.30 pm reservation it seems! I'm not sure why I've only checked in here twice. I've lived in the area for almost a year and I've been here at least twice month ever since. The catch...I can get my nails done AND have a complimentary cup of WINE! They have a customer FOR LIFE! I think they just opened when I moved in the area August 2016 so it was never crowded. Now, it can get quite busy on a Friday at 4pm. Slowly, they are adding staff as they grow, and everyone there is very nice. I have yet to leave unhappy. My gel manicure and pedicure are always very well done. I would suggest that you come on off days like Monday-Thursday if you don't like to wait. I had to wait for 40 minuets after I got there because there were people already in the chairs. My nails are cute but the polish will not last long. I've been here several times now and it's my go-to place when I can't afford to go to my fav nail tech or when I want holographic or chrome nails. They are a really popular place so I wouldn't recommend going on weekends, they can get very busy and it can feel a bit hectic. Otherwise, they do great work. Edit: the service is still great but I've consistently run into problems with being charged extra tip than what it says on the receipt and for being charged more for services than I expect. This time I tipped in cash, and they charged that to my card too!! Really disappointing that they would do this as I feel I'm not rude and give a nice tip every time. I have to say that the last few times I've been, I haven't really felt welcome, if that makes sense. I can't put my finger on it, but I just didn't enjoy my visit. I don't typically get intricate , complicated services, but I think they do a great gel manicure. I've also had their hot stone pedicure and deluxe organic pedicure , which are REALLY relaxing . There are eight comfy pedicure chairs that have a massage feature and about 10-11 chairs to get your manicure done. While not very big, I feel My Nail Bar provides service in a reasonable amount of time. I find that the best times are weekday mornings, and weekend afternoons.
