The kitchen successful maintained nice flavor without making the food too oily. The service was on point with friendly staff to guide you through the long menu if needed. We had our best experience here to date regarding the quality and abundance of food we received. I began with orders of Pan Fried Dumplings and Steamed Juicy Pork Dumplings, followed by Seafood Sizzling Rice Soup with chicken added. Diane ate some soup, but left all the dumplings to me. I received all of my requested sauces (Potsticker Sauce, Hoisin Sauce, Hot Chili Oil, and Sweet & Sour Sauce), and used them for dipping. The Pan Fried Potstickers were nicely bronzed, and the Steamed Dumplings indeed juicy. The soup was hot and very tasty, as well. For mains, Diane ordered Cashew Shrimp with a Brown Sauce, which she liked. I ordered Moo Goo Gai Pan and Shrimp Chow Mein, but received Moo Goo Gai Pan and Shrimp Lo Mein. I really prefer Shrimp Chow Mein, with the protein and vegetables sitting atop crispy soup noodles until the heat breaks the edifice down. But I didn't notice the discrepancy until I was already eating the Shrimp Lo Mein. In any event, the restaurant was closing soon, and the lo mein tasted very good. So I did not ask for a replacement. The Moo Goo Gai Pan (Mushroom Chicken) with slices of fresh glazed white chicken tasted even better. Food portions were so large that I ate the Shrimp Lo Mein for one more lunch and one more dinner at home, and Diane savored another dinner of Cashew Shrimp at home. Everything washed down well at the restaurant with hot Jasmine Tea. Service was excellent. Requests for knives, sauces, and extra napkins were all quickly granted. We were excited to find a place in this area serving Korean-Chinese dishes like jjajjangmyeon, jjamppong, tangsuyuk, and more. The ladies serving us were super friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself is small. It felt more like a full size family restaurant that was jammed into a small coffee shop type space but it was clean and comfortable. We went as a family and ordered the jjajjangmyeon, jjamppong, kkangppong fish, fried rice, braised eggplant, honey walnut shrimp, and steamed rice. The entrees were the standout. The fish, shrimp, eggplant, and rice dishes were all so delicious, and we will absolutely be back for those. The jjajjangmyeon and jjamppong were a bit underwhelming, so I probably would not order those again, but everything else was solid and very satisfying. Overall, a great find for this area. read more

I came to place an order to go, I was rewarding my team and found this place online apparently they are on top of the list for Chinese food in the area of Redlands, I work near by. Food was fresh! Temperatures of everything was perfect, tasty and the egg rolls were delicious. They had a full house, they open at 11 and it 11:30 so that tells you it definitely has its regulars. Great lunch specials. Ambiance was busy chinese restaurant style, decore as you walk in and throughout the restaurant. I would come back! The only thing is I recommend the two older ladies in the front acknowledge customers as they walk in, not when your ready to take their order,may be challenging with everything going on at once but I challenge you to multi task , take a min. I had this restaurant saved on my yelp bookmarks for a while. Driving by, and decided to check it out. They have quite a large Vegan menu, with most of the popular dishes made vegan. I ordered take out and my favorite dish, vegan chikin curry, so I could compare with my two other vegetarian restaurants Happy Family vegetarian and Loving Hut. The restaurant was busy for lunch time, service seemed quick. Bathroom was clean with a nice perfumed aroma, the restaurant was very clean with simple decorations. When I got home, the food was still hot and quite flavorful with a nice assortments of vegetables. A little more expensive than my favorite restaurants and not quite as good. Honestly I didn't have the greatest experience this time around. I'm not even sure what happened cause I've been here a few times and I had no issues and the food was amazing. Our group had a few vegetarian and chicken dishes that came out great and they were really good. Now that the food is good, why give the 2 stars? It's because I never got my food. I had ordered the jjajangmyeon and the popcorn chicken and never received it. The restaurant wasn't very busy the time we went and my entire party received their food except for me. I then watched everyone else at the restaurant get their food. And some got the exact dish I ordered and they came after me. What made me upset is that the waitress kept telling me my food was coming soon. I was told this about 3-4 times. And after 45 minutes I had to tell them to cancel. They tried to convince me not to cancel cause the food was coming out soon but my entire party had finished eating already. I was already hangry and I didn't want to hear the excuses. I got a wack apology. Like if you as the wait staff notice that the entire restaurant was getting their food except for the one person you kept telling over and over that their food was coming, wouldn't you check on the kitchen to expedite the order? The excuse they gave was that they only had one wok or something like that. Whatever the excuse was, it was a poor excuse. We met up with an old resident friend today. He suggested JW China Wok as we both haven't been and heard good things. It was time to devour!!! The interior was nice and clean with interesting, aquarium decor. The waiter was a bit eager and trying to ask how we know about Korean cuisine. Supposedly, a lot of Koreans frequent there and they added Korean items (such as jjajangmyeon and jjampong) to accommodate. I will say that the noodle itself wasn't always the correct type. For example, the Singaporean curry rice noodles were not the thin, typical rice noodles (possibly vermicelli?). The traditional jjajangmyeon is served with thick noodles and not thin. BUT the flavors definitely shined. The jjajangmyeon sauce was deeply delectable. The curry flavor of the Singaporean noodles was enriched in laska flavor but also not the typical spice level. The waiter did mention that in the future, it is possible to ask for the lo mien with the jjajangmyeon so will try that next time. JW China Wok is a great addition to Redlands. We may visit more often to satisfy the jjajangmyeon cravings. read more

Food: i always pass by this restaurant, but never thought to actually try it until my husband finally decided to give it a go! The food here is simply amazingggg. We got to try out a variety of dishes including eggplant tofu, salt and pepper fish, and black bean noodles, and all of them delivered above and beyond. I was pleasantly surprised that they had the black bean noodles since it's mostly a korean chinese dish. The fried food was crunchy and warm, the sauce was perfection! Highly recommend all the things we got. Price: reasonably priced, not too expensive for the amount and the quality of food that you actually get here! The fish was $18 and the eggplant tofu was about $14. Ambiance: seemed like it was a family owned business with chinese speaking owner and server. Small and cozy with about 7-10 ish tables inside, great for family get together and casual hangouts Service: the Chinese server taking our orders and serving us food was very very nice and made cute small talk. I came to JW China Wok genuinely excited, because Korean-Chinese food usually means bold, rich flavors and comfort in a bowl and is rare to find in Inland Empire. Unfortunately, the jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) was a letdown. I understand jjajangmyeon is typically on the oily side, but without that deep, savory black-bean flavor to balance it, it honestly felt like I was just slurping oil. The sauce was surprisingly bland and excessively oily, lacking the richness that defines the dish. I even had to ask for soy sauce and add extra salt just to give it some flavor. The orange chicken itself is decent. Enjoyable, but I do wish it was crispier. It's fine, it gets the job done, but nothing about it is particularly memorable. The sesame balls and cream cheese wontons, however, were actually great. It was well-fried and easily the most enjoyable items we had. That said, appetizers shouldn't be the highlight over signature dishes like jjajangmyeon or orange chicken. One thing that stood out after dining at the restaurant was how overwhelming the menu is. There are so many options that it feels unfocused, and in my opinion, it may be doing the restaurant a disservice. Scaling back the menu and focusing on fewer, well-executed dishes, especially signature items like jjajangmyeon & fan favorite orange chicken, could elevate the overall experience far more than trying to do everything at once. On the positive side, the service was genuinely great. The staff was friendly, attentive, and welcoming, and honestly carried the experience more than the food did. read more

This is an unexpected surprise in Redlands. We literally did a U-turn while driving when my fiancé told me their food options. We ordered the salt and pepper fish filet which was just crispy and seasoned to perfection. Nothing beats a good fried dish like salt and pepper fish. Beef black bean noodle is comfort food. In Korea, in China, and now here in Redlands. Mix it all and enjoy a messy, yummy black bean noodle. Finally, the Eggplant tofu was a nice steaming hot vegetable to add. The sauce was impeccable and each bite burned your insides, so maybe wait a little before taking a bite. But when you do, the eggplant and tofu are gonna explode with flavor. I was craving wonton soup and theirs did not disappoint. I actually really like it a lot so I do recommend that if you're craving wonton soup. The two employees that helped me were really nice. I've been back here twice recently, and I will say that I liked the combo fried rice, and lo mein. The fried tofu as an appetizer is just fried tofu, but I was a bit sad that it did not come with sweet-and-sour sauce. That might just be a me thing because I usually get that at Boba shops and it comes with sweet-and-sour sauce and that's when I'm used to having it with. It came with no sauce so you might have to ask for sauce if you do get the fried tofu appetizer. One of the items I tried when I came in was one of the pan fried noodles. I would say if you get this to go ask them to mix it all together. Because they gave everything to me in a separate container so I just had like fried noodles and then I had to put the sauce on top of it which wouldn't really be an issue if I wasn't lazy to go down and put it over a stove to really mix it up and heat it up. So I really didn't care for that so I ended up just throwing it away. Over all this places really good. I would say it is probably one of my go to if I'm really craving Chinese food. First time to JW China Wok in Redlands CA. A small family owned restaurant where the owner is the cook and his wife part of the wait staff. We ordered the Westlake Beef Soup, Eggplant with tofu, Fish Fillet with Black Bean and Beef Chow Fun. The food was truly great. It reminded me of the foods I had in San Francisco's Chinatown. The thickened black bean sauce over white rice was delicious. The soft eggplant contrasted with firm tofu was another favorite. Our overall favorite dish was the Westlake Beef Soup. This is my go to for Chinese food, they truly care about quality. Everything is always made to order so have some patience with them it's well worth the wait. Some of my favorites are the Sesame beef, Generals chicken, chili wontons, bok choy and chicken chow fun. The servers are very sweet as there is usually only two of them so sometimes they are running around a lot from table to table so service can be a little spotty if they're busy. We have been dinning here since last year, it's our go to spot for many reasons: the first is the food, its so good my 5 year old won't eat anything but chicken nuggets at every other restaurant we go to. Even the Mexican restaurants but not here he loves the Wor Wonton Soup and the broccoli beef. The second reason we come here is the staff, they are super friendly and accommodating. They are very kind to our kids which makes us feel super comfortable and that is very important to us. We don't want to eat as a family somewhere we don't feel comfortable. My daughter once threw up in the middle of the restaurant after eating black frosting cupcakes at a party before arriving and they cleaned it up and made her okay about it. my husband and I were mortified, they cleaned it up so fast and they were so kind to us about it. The third reason is the price, we always order: vegetable egg rolls, cream cheese wontons, wor wonton soup, chicken fried rice, vegetable lo mein, broccoli beef, and two cokes. the bill is usually under 100 dollars which is hard to find for a family of five that isn't junk food. After trying twice (both eating in and takeout at this restaurant), rating it a 3.5. Pros: They are one of the very few places that offer Korean Chinese food such as black bean noodles, jamppong, and sweet and sour fried beef. The beef dishes are all tender. Service is great. Place looks clean. Prices are decent. Combo chow fun is flavorful and meats in it are tender. Fried tofu with salt and pepper isn't too spicy. Cons: The noodle texture of the black bean dish isn't that chewy and taste is a bit on the bland side. Fried tofu with salt and pepper is on the bland side and not very crispy (but that might be because it was a takeout order). Chicken chop suey is not as good as others in the area (smaller portion and less vegetable assortment). Vegetable chow fun is pretty sad with minimal vegetables so I recommend getting chow fun that has meat in it. Not sure if it's because I got take out for these three items. Overall take: Meat dishes are done well. Eating at restaurant seems to yield better food as opposed to take out (great service). Korean Chinese dishes offered here but doesn't beat OC and LA options. read more

Lunchtime (12:30pm) on a Sunday. Very busy with large parties seated banquet style. For myself and my hubby we were seated after a few tables cleared and were wiped down. We opted to use the QR code even though our server offered to take the order manually. Two people running front of the house taking orders, clearing tables, and fetching to-go boxes. We started with two iced waters. They definitely needed the added lemon slices to offset the strong tap water taste. I ordered a jasmine green tea to try it out. We had to ask for it again when all our dishes made it to the table but the tea pot didn't. It was not super strong in flavor but it did have a lovely jasmine smell. Our appetizer of popcorn chicken really took my back to my early college snack spot days. Crispy, tender pieces and perfectly seasoned. The black bean noodles (jjajangmyeon) used fresh white noodles, had a good amount of beef/onion sauce. Tasty but one order is not shareable for two grown adults. If really really hungry I'd recommend two orders. The 1/2 roast duck came with two, dry thighs. The flavor was ok. Not too salty. It was hard to enjoy since each bite was pretty dry. Almost like it was left in an oven/warmer too long. Didn't get to try out the jjampong (seafood soup) but would be interested in trying a few other of their dishes, primarily their version of Dan Dan mein. read more

The chicken fried rice was addicting we couldn't stop scooping bites and we asked for it spicy and the chicken tasted like fresh cuts of chicken. I got the jajangmeon (black bean noodle) it was sooo delicious I've always wanted to try this Chinese-Korean dish, even as leftovers it was delicious it has a savory flavor not sweet and I prefer that :) definitely would come back for that one alone. The noodle texture is really nice like chow mein thickness. There's a lot of toppings in it too I love it there's fresh sliced cucumber, the sauce had chopped up onions and potatoes and beef (it was tender but not soggy even as leftovers) And it's not greasy to me I also got the jjamppong seafood noodle and it was good but not a strong seafood flavor I hoped for. There was a lot of protein in it like shrimps, squid, and pieces of pork. And the cabbage was really good with spoonfuls of soup. The spice is very manageable. The squid pieces were tough but I still ate some of it. The best part of the soup was these 4 little pieces of shrimp tempura or something on top that I wish I had more of! The soup was still overall yummy and the noodle texture was good too! I've also been wanting to try that dish for a while so I'm happy they offered it here in Redlands. I thought it would be nice to take my wife to dinner here . but we sat there for over a hour we ordered the dinner b witch had soup and appetizers. We ask the waitress what was Going on she got mad and said we have a lot of to go orders . I told her we're here waiting and why can't we get our soup and appetizers, she got mad and didn't want to talk to us. So we left and I said give our order to a Togo customer. Next time we're ordering Togo dont need her attitude . I gave her 10$ for our drinks and we left . Take care of your customers that you face to face relationships not somebody that's gonna get cold food anyways and have to re-warm it up. It's sad cause I like this place. read more
