I guess I'm just lucky I keep finding these establishments that far surpass my expectations. JW China Wok is no different. I am a huge lover of Egg Foo Young and I have been searching the region for one that lives up to my standards and I finally found it. The Egg Foo Young is so savory and delicious I can't wait to have more, we also ordered Chicken Fried Rice, Chow Mein, Vegan sweet and sour, Fried Tofu and Sesame Chicken. The Appetizers we got were Butterfly Shrimp and Egg Rolls and Pan Fried Dumplings Everything was beyond good. The place is very small and sometimes you will have to wait but it is worth it. The sit down environment is a great change from the fast food steam table types of Chinese food. The Service was great our server was very attentive and worked very hard to make sure all of her guests were taken care of. I will definitely be going back to JW China Wok. read more

JW China Wok is located in a business area. It's smaller than I thought. They only have booths. If you have a group you will need to sit in 2 booths. They were experiencing internet issues so credit cards weren't being accepted. We were able to pay through Zelle. There were 11 of us and we sat in 2 large booths. Service was great, sometimes they were slow. Overall, I would say they were attentive. There's only one waiter for the entire restaurant. Due to the size of our group, we ordered entrees to share. They did have a lunch special even on a Sunday which was around 10.99 a person. We chose not to order from that menu. We did order: 1) Sesame balls 8 per order. They were smaller than I would like. The sesame inside was good. The outer shell was cooked well. 2) Shrimp lomein was good. There was a good amount of food. They didn't skimp on the shrimp. 3) Orange Chicken with no spice for my teens. The chicken was crispy. The orange sauce was not too sweet. I enjoyed this dish. 4) Green Beans without spice was also good. Waiter said it was their best veggie dish. I thought the green beans were cooked well and we're still crispy. Seasoning was good. 5) Shrimp with lobster sauce had mushrooms and chestnuts. I thought the sauce was not quite what I would expect of lobster sauce but it was sufficient. 6) Egg drop soup was OK. I don't know how you can mess that up. 7) Shrimp fried rice was OK. Oh man! If you haven't tried this place yet, PLEASE DO! This restaurant has only been open for three months, but it is stellar! It's getting so many good reviews for all the same reasons: fresh food with good portions, clean and presentable dining, and friendly/warm service. We ordered the wonton soup, the hot and sour soup, cashew chicken, and vegan sweet and sour chicken. The soup was plentiful, hot, and flavorful! (NOTE: If you are a vegetarian, please let them know before you order the hot and sour soup. Without telling them, it will have pork in it, so let them know so that it is only tofu.) We were seated right away and the booths are comfortable, clean, and spacious. The utensils were clean and cute with design. The host was friendly and kind. The food tasted so fresh! It wasn't greasy or tasting of old oil use (as most places do). This means so much to us when dining out. I cannot recommend this place enough. Went here on a Sunday afternoon and the place was empty. Very clean, nice decor. We ordered the combo egg foo young, vegan orange chicken, and lemon chicken. The vegan orange chicken kinda tasted like ham, but that's what most vegan meats taste like. The sauce was rich and sweet but not too much orange flavor, good portion size. The lemon chicken had big tender chucks of chicken, with a very thick lemon sauce. The sauce was sweet and had a good lemon flavor, it also had cherries and pineapples. As of this writing, it's a really new restaurant. The parking can be tight on the east end of the parking lot (in front of the restaurant) but there is plenty more on the western end. The staff was super quick and efficient. As you can see from my outside pics: their grand opening sign and store front. You can see from my inside pic, it's simply decorated. I also have 2 pics of their menu: it is bound to have something for everyone. There is also a wall QR code menu available. We had the lunch specials - it is truly a value meal. I had the Orange Chicken. The chicken nuggets were nicely sized, see pic, and tender. The breading was appropriate: not too much or little. The orange sauce was very, very sweet and lacked flavor and tang. The adjacent egg roll was pleasant, but didn't have any pronounced flavoring. The rice was okay. Hospitality was great, however food was lacking in flavor. The employee was so friendly, service was fast and kind, but the actual food was okay. To be fair, I am Asian and have had authentic Chinese food many times in OC and San Gabriel area. This type of food is like Americanized Chinese food, but even then - there was a lack of flavor. The orange chicken was one note in flavor (I've had better at Panda Express), and the shrimp with lobster sauce had minimal flavor and didn't have much salt or anything to taste. The menu is geared toward American palates, but it's not truly authentic. I do want to give a shout out to service though, it was very attentive and quick! read more

The stars were the noodles and the egg foo young. Definitely freshly made sauce on the egg foo young, and be sure to ask for extra since it is tasty. The noodles really hit the spot that meal. Was recommended to try this place that just recently and was curious to try this place out bc we heard they had jajangmyun (Chinese style black bean noodles) and jjamppong (Chinese style Korean spicy seafood noodle soup) which are dishes you'd normally have to drive an hour out to OC/LA to get so when I first heard this, I was pretty skeptical to try since the IE has always lacked good, authentic Asian restaurants. First of all, the menu is HUGE, featuring a wide variety of authentic dishes, including plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. Everything we ordered was filled w/ flavor but not too salty or greasy. The portions are generous, and the prices can't be beat for the quality and quantity you're getting. They also have a lunch special menu with items all $11 or less and party trays as well! Here's what we ordered: 1) Chinese-Style Jajangmyeon (4.5/5): The black bean sauce was rich and savory and coated the noodles perfectly--packed with a variety of fresh vegetables (we ordered vegetarian but also available in beef) 2) Mongolian Beef (5/5): Tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked with just the right amount of sweetness. 3) Szechuan Green Beans (5/5): Crisp, seasoned with just the right about of spice and garlic. A great dup if you're craving DTF's green beans but don't want to make the drive out 4) Fish fillet in Sour Napa and Tofu Soup (5/5): The broth was tangy but refreshing and comforting, and the fish and tofu were cooked perfectly 5) Mapo Tofu (5/5): Perfectly balanced spice with silky tofu, can never go wrong with mapo tofu am I right? 6) Singapore curry noodles (4/5): Didn't blow me away like the other dishes we ordered but I've also never tried Singapore noodles before so I don't have anything to compare it to and frankly, I don't expect a Chinese eatery to have stellar Singapore noodles haha. But was still very tasty and we cleared the whole plate regardless The total cost came to about $80 for 6 dishes which is seriously unheard of for a dine-in restaurant in 2024. The restaurant itself is clean, and service was excellent. Shout out to Andy, our waiter, who was attentive and friendly, and gave us recommendations on what to order on the extensive menu Can't wait to come back and explore more of the menu. Everything was so fresh and delicious nothing too oily. We had almond chicken, orange chicken, honey walnut shrimp, Szechuan green beans, chow fun with chicken, and mushroom chicken. I tried everything but the orange chicken. My friend ordered it she's not really into family style eating like I am, so she didn't offer and I forgot to ask. The decor is super simple, very plain and small inside but a nice number of booths, which I really like. Andy, our server was very attentive. We had everything we needed. FYI they have cans of Coke instead of fountain drinks and they carry Diet but not Zero. The only reason I'm knocking off a star is that my poor friend who got the almond chicken also found a long brown hair imbedded in his white rice. He's a germaphobe so he was super grossed out and couldn't finish his food. Andy offered to comp his meal and bring him something different for free but my friend was unable to fathom eating anything else because there might be another issue. My hair gets everywhere, and we have cats, so, while I understand it's not ideal, I also know sometimes it's nearly impossible to prevent hairs in places you don't want them.
