If you need a watch strap or battery try this place. I went to the Brooklyn location and they are unable to fix and guarantee anything beyond that. Buyer beware. They cannot maintain their own proposed schedules. They can't work on automatic movements, let alone overhaul one. They can't set hands level. They cannot even screw a case back on to maintain water resistance levels. There are few examples of worse craftsmanship or customer service that I can think of. They do offer you whiskey though, maybe that is all you want from a watch company. read more

This store is actually called Chelsea Watch Shop, on their receipts, store front and business cards. Not sure what "JWATCH" is. I dropped off an antique pocket watch for disassembly cleaning and repair. This request was made clear to the sales associate. I was told there would be no charge for a consultation. A week later I get an invoice for $10 that stated "cannot polish this watch". When I went into the store to pick up my watch, the associate realized the mistake and did not charge me the $10, and laughed that these types of watches cannot be polished. When I explained that I did not request a polish, that I had asked for the watch to be disassembled, cleaned and any broken parts repaired, she basically shrugged it off with an "oops". This company claims to be professional horologists that can repair any watch, whether modern or classic, yet a simple repair request confused them. Would not recommend them. read more

This was either my third or fourth time visiting JWATCH, however my first time at their new location on 7th avenue. While every prior experience with JWATCH was stellar, my first visit to their new location was decidedly not. I had taken multiple watches there in the past to have the bracelet length adjusted, and not once did they charge me for this service. Jamie was always friendly and welcoming and in fact, the only time I had been charged previously was for them to replace a missing peg with an authentic Rolex one for just $20, labor included. The only person I spoke with during my recent visit was the man at their front desk, who was polite, but did not have a grasp on the English language. He quoted me at $10 for a bracelet adjustment initially, which seemed a bit weird and different given this was not advertised anywhere, but I had great experiences in the past so I was hopeful. He took my watch and came back not 2 minutes later, after having removed 1 link from the bracelet. This gentleman then took my personal information, which he had a lot of difficulty understanding and transcribing, and informed me it was $30+tax for the bracelet adjustment, while also mentioning that this was twice the price of a standard adjustment given the brand. This shocked me. Not only was I being asked to pay more than 3 times what I had been quoted, but this was the most money I had ever spent at this store, even though the service took two minutes and involved zero components other than some handy screwdriver work! What upset me even more was that he mentioned this was a service he could perform free of charge for returning customers. This was my third or fourth visit, and I even brought the plastic bags with links that had been taken out of my other watches in previous visits to the store so he could save materials, and see that this was not my first visit. The gentleman at the front desk seemed surprised that I was a returning customer, as he had trouble finding my name in their system. The fact that he promised to shorten or lengthen the watch band for free in the future was truly upsetting, as this was my fourth time bringing a watch in for the same service, and my first time being charged a seemingly arbitrary and hefty fee. Although I heard Jamie speaking in the back, and clearly expressed my discontent, not once did she step in or even attempt to alleviate the situation. The explanations given by the gentleman at the front desk were jumbled, nonsensical and difficult to understand. The fact that my entire customer experienced was guided by an ill-informed individual who could barely speak the language the business operates in was truly disheartening. I'm certain Jamie, the manager/owner, could hear my words, and was genuinely upset that she did not care enough to step in or even attempt to resolve the situation. I have recommended this store to friends in the past, but this experience has certainly curtailed that. I hope that this store does not continue to mislead and cheat their returning customers. I should have just had the adjustment done at the same place where I actually bought my watch.... read more

Went to Jwatch to replace the metal band on a new Seiko 5 Automatic with another band I had, and the service was very prompt and courteous. I think I was in and out in less than 5 minutes, and the price was right (i.e. what I expected for a watch band replacement). They specialize in CYMA and Candino watches apparently, but their website says they'll service almost any watch, and I believe it, as they didn't have any qualms working on my $60 Seiko. read more

Fantastic service, faster than expected. It's a bit of a trick to find, I walked right past the building (twice). It's right between a Potbelly and a Sprint. Take the elevator that's at the end of the hall to the 5th floor and then walk down that hallway and they're on the corner of the hall. I rang the bell and was greeted by a very nice woman. My grandmothers watch has a complicated back that a majority of regular jewelers/smaller repair shops can never get off and have scuffed the back trying to pry it off, as I explained to the woman. She said not a problem, but that the watch repair-person was out and wouldn't be back for two to three hours. I said no problem and went back to work. I got a call and an e-mail an hour later stating my watch was ready and there was no problems! I was very excited. I went back and for $20 they had changed the battery and given it a bit of a polish. Excellent service and very nice people. They also take a series of intensive photos when you hand your pieces in for proof, if there should be any problems when you get your piece back. 10/10 would recommend. read more

I just left this watch shop and must say, I came away incredibly impressed with the staff and quality of their straps and materials. I was a bit hesitant due to the few negative reviews, but am so glad I came here afterall. I have an Invicta with a broken strap and it needed battery replacement. They took care of the battery within seconds and then gave me about 45 options for bands. Super patient as they waited for me to decide, and once I chose the band, again they took seconds to swap them out. As a bonus, I had received quotes from other places for strap and battery replacement, and this came out to nearly 50% less of a cost, with an amazing strap I love that matches the high-end watch. I had dropped my 5513 Rolex submariner and had damaged a marker on the dial. Since the dial has already begun to patina naturally, I didn't want to get it re-lumed. The chip from the marker was inside the watch, and they where able to put it back in place and patch the area. All that you can see is a crack, which I am fine with. Great job, listened to what I needed, affordable, friendly and quick. I plan to return for further work on other watches. read more

Where do I even begin... I brought my boyfriend's complicated skeleton watch here to have the date hands reattached and the year realigned after it had been dropped. The first time I picked up the watch, the year wheel was both inoperable, and very obviously crooked. After seeing that it hadn't been fixed, I was told it would be too hard to fix, and only AFTER I had mentioned something - did she offer me a partial refund. She did not offer to at least straighten the number, (seriously - who would leave a watch with 2009 stuck diagonally in the movement, even if it couldn't be returned to working condition??) but having gotten a partial refund I didn't argue. Once I got home, I realized that it was also missing the copper 10 tick on the face (which had not previously been missing). My boyfriend then also noticed that two screws were missing from the back. At this point, I brought the watch back in to have these issues addressed. She replaced the tick with a more dull, misshapen version, as they had clearly lost the original. In the process, they BADLY scratched the casing while getting it open. They also apparently popped off the (roman numeral) 3 tick during this second entry into the watch, and reattached it BACKWARDS so that it curves the wrong way. When they went to close the case, they left a huge gap and didn't seal it all the way, using incorrect screws and stripping the casing - so that it now wiggles and and is no longer waterproof. Lastly, they reattached the tachymeter crooked so that it's misaligned by two seconds. Any one of these complaints would be ridiculous, but all of them is COMPLETELY unacceptable. It literally looks like a 15 year old tried to fix this watch, and I cannot fathom how this place is even in business. I completely agree with Dennis C below, who mentioned the inflated reviews on Yelp due to people reviewing battery repairs and simple things that any jeweler could do. Although honestly, I wouldn't even trust these guys to do even that after this experience. I should also note that I never take the time to write Yelp reviews, but I couldn't let this one go - and hope to save even one person's watch from being ruined the way my boyfriend's was. read more

You're going to get to the address and think you're wrong but you're not. The building has an oddly lit hallway leading back to the elevator. I took my watch to Jwatch today to get a scratch taken out of the face. I gave it to them and within five minutes, the woman had buffed it out perfect. Years ago while traveling through Mexico I picked up a Swiss Army Officer's watch. Quickly this watch became my favorite watch ever. It was my baby. Somehow a motor went out (at least that's what the authorized Swiss Army repair shop in LA told me). The dealer fixed it and I had my baby back again. THEN the battery died. I tried to take it back to the authorized dealer in LA but they were no longer associated with Swiss Army. (I am more than a little curious why the LA location is no longer authorized Swiss Army but anyway...) so I took it to a famous BIG NAMED watch place on 57th street in NYC. They put a new battery in and shortly after my watch stopped working again - like a month later. I was sad. In my head it couldn't be the battery since I had just gotten that fixed. I threw it on my dresser and didn't wear it for years. probably close to 8 years. Finally I got my shit together and decided one more time to bring it back to life. My friend told me about JWATCH. I took it in and they told me to wait while they looked at it. Literally, 10 minutes later it came back out with the sweetest person. She said the only thing wrong with it was "the wrong battery and whoever put it in bent the thingamabob". $15 dollars later I had my watch back. I am giving this rating because JWATCH was honest. They could have kept my watch and made up a reason to charge me a lot of money. To be honest, I was willing to pay it too. To me an honest business is the best. NOT only honest but knowledgeable. While sitting there I watched another customer come in and pick up his watch and he was as happy as me. Although he was expecting JWATCH to make him happy. In the year 1999 I traded a stainless steel date just Rolex to some old Russian guy who had a second hand shop in the east Village. This "new" watch, A Breilting Chromo-Mat, sat in a drawer for 18 years until I walked it over to J Watch. The amazing in-house expert/owner turned this fuzzy piece of history (1967) into a shiny, functional, working piece of history I am proud to wear on my wrist. I would trust these people with anything. Total professionalism, customer-is-always-right, and super attention to detail, these people do it all and for a great price.
