We all have had ramen at home, but have you ever gone to a ramen restaurant? It is definitely way better than the ramen that comes in the little bags. On a cold day, I decided I needed something warm, so I stopped by for lunch. I ordered the seafood gyoza for an appetizer. I loved them. They were perfectly done and had great flavor. I ordered the veggie ramen. I can't say it was the best ramen I have had, but it was ok. It had a weird flour taste to it, but I brought left overs home and added a little bit of siracha and that made it much better. The waitress was attentive. The restaurant has plenty of seating. Parking is available on site, but shared. When you're done with your meal, you pay at the register.
I came with my husband and brother and I am so happy that my brother has a new go to ramen place now! The place was busy and they only had one server on staff that day. However once our server got to us we had such an amazing time! She was super charismatic and helped answer our questions. My favorite of the three ramens we ordered was the tonkatsu. The broth was perfect and very light which is rare for ramen. The miso was also really tasty. It's more flavorful and salty than the tonkatsu. The last of the bunch was the chicken ramen. I probably won't order that next time because it wasn't my favorite, however my brother and husband said they preferred the other ramens but still wouldn't mind eating this. Do order their raspberry hibiscus ice tea! It was divine! I ordered a cup to go because I still wanted more! All in all, we had such a good time and we will definitely be coming back next time we visit!

We ordered and our food came out in less than 10 mins. We came in around 630-7 pm on a Friday with maybe four families including ours. There was only one waitress the whole night. She definitely deserves a raise as well as the cook! The food was so good. We ordered two bowls of tonkatsu ramen and then one of the udon noodle bowls. The soup is tasty and very authentic tasting. The noodles were chewy and the bowl was filled to the top! We asked for extra nori and eggs midway of finishing our bowls. Overall, had a wonderful experience and cannot wait to go back.
The Shoyu ramen is good. My husband wasn't impressed saying we could've made this at home for $1 I thought it was good- fancier than making it at home. I'd come here again. The place is really cute and nicely decorated and clean. The restrooms are clean too which I'm big on. The waitress was SO sweet. I wish I got her name. I have to say, the red tea is SO good! And the seafood gyoza is delicious
We were looking for a ramen place and we're pleasantly surprised when we stumbled upon this place. When we got there the place wasn't that busy but it was busy by the time we left. All three dishes we had were good as well as the red sweet tea. The waiter (didn't get his name) did a good job keeping up with serving the entire restaurant. We will be back and will tell our friends about this place.
Jy Ramen was an absolute delicious surprise. Located at a business park in the medical center you can miss in a blink of an eye. I would call it a hidden gem. Our waiter was so pleasant and welcoming. I had the Miso Ramen paired with a hot jasmine tea. Both delicious and aesthetically beautiful. The ambiance was zen and very spacious. I would highly recommend this place for anyone in search of some delicious ramen in the northwest side. I will definitely be back.
My first visit and only one waitress. She was so sweet and very attentive to me and my girls. She explained the dishes on the menu and did not disappoint. The noodles were so tasty!!! Pork and kid's chicken were very pleasing! I highly recommend this place on a cold or hot day!
Visiting from New Orleans - Looking at places with great reviews and this one popped up. It's a little hole in the wall place near some shops. It's cute on the inside, we were the only two inside on a Friday night around 8 PM. We ordered some gyoza, yakisoba, and ramen - all pictured below. Everything was hot and portioned nicely, just lacking in flavor for us!
Much nicer on the inside than it appears from the outside. Being unfamiliar with the menu, the waitress was helpful in my decision. I ordered a seaweed salad and a seafood udon. It arrived quickly and I liked the combination of different flavors in the Udon. The large rice noodles were much better to me than standard ramen noodles. I would visit again when on this side of town
Very pleasantly surprised with this place. It's simple, close by, and affordable. It lacks a pretentious vibe I always get at another spot I won't name, and instead just seems pretty humble and down to earth. Their menu is pretty limited, but there's bound to be something you'll enjoy. Since I have a full-blown cold, I needed some ramen to help me warm up. I ordered the miso bowl and it was very filling and yummy. Had I not been sick I would have said it was heavy-handed with the ginger, but since ginger is good for you when you're sick, I ate that up real quick. The location is fantastic. There are a lot of neat places to visit in this shopping center, including the one I'm more familiar with across the street. Overall, I'm very happy with the food and people here. I want to come back.

Arrived at the time it said my order would be ready. Although, the check mark that says order received on this app never changed colors, which I'm thinking it should? Either way, checked in at the counter. Two young men working. Talked to both of them. Told them my name & that I was picking up a Yelp/Grub Hub order. The young man at the counter seemed more interested in small talking than working. When asked if they were busy, he said "he is". He said it was the other guys last training day, so he was letting him do the work. Too much. 3 orders up, each time one came up, I was asked my name again. No no no. Waited. A party of 6 people were checking out, most separate. This cause confusion for the servers and extra time for everyone. After about the 4th person and now waiting here 15 min, I caught the eye of the person checking them out. He said one minute as he finished with them. I asked if he could check on the order. He did and then after finishing, asked if he could borrow my phone to show the cook. Umm, I guess? Then he came back and explained that the grub hub orders don't auto print & blamed the other guy for not checking it. I told him that he should blame himself also for not. Geez. Considering I checked in with them 15 min prior & told them where I'd placed my order!?? Anyway. Guy kept my phone to put order into the system again. Maybe Yelp should disable the ordering since they don't check it?? Rant over. Food wasn't bad, but didn't necessarily impress either. I had the Tan Tan Ramen & an order of shrimp tempura. Everything was packed separately, good. Plenty of noodles in the bowl! Very small amount of cabbage & pickled ginger. I ordered and paid $1.50 for an egg & it wasn't there. Unless half an egg costs $1.50? If so, that's crazy. Broth was temperature hot, but soup wasn't spicy, as the description says. Actually, once I mixed it, nothing was spicy. 2.5 out of 5 for the soup. Shrimp tempura was ok. The fluffy batter had no flavor and there was a side of soy sauce for dipping!? Not sure if this after first impression I'd make my way back here? read more
2nd time back and we were not disappointed! Service is always great here and that's that there is always only one server. She was very kind, sitting us under the fan when it was 108 outside and being tentative without overdoing it. The ambiance is quiet, traditional, and just a place where you can enjoy good food in comfort. We love their seafood gyoza. Crispy, flavorful, and filled with shrimp! The shoyu ramen was delicious. It was salty enough, fish cakes, fresh veggies, and a perfectly cooked egg will definitely make my day lol! The tonkotsu was also delicious. The broth was so flavorful and the pork was buttery smooth. I ordered the extra ramen noodles for maybe a little more than $1 and was surprised they gave me a whole bowl! My bf tried the green milk tea. Although it was blended with ice and not like the traditional milk tea with tapioca, he said it was sweet enough and perfect for a hot day! read more

Sorry to say this but you cannot find good ramen in San Antonio but then again what do you expect? We came in on a weekend and we were the only table in the restaurant. I don't know how they're going to stay in business. The Gyoza was okay but definitely nothing spectacular. I'm not convinced the the Gyoza wasn't frozen and store bought. The Tonkotsu Ramen broth was pretty plain and again... nothing spectacular. Worst off is the not so friendly waitress. She seemed like she was not happy to come to work that day. She never smiled, didn't speak much and seemed annoyed simply with our presence in the empty restaurant. Overall, I would not recommend this place to my family or friends. Step up your game or get out of the game all together. read more

This is a very good Ramen place. Menu is simple with 5 different broth options and a few appetizers. They also have some rice dishes. The decor is a little odd with Japanese theme and plywood boxes but that aside, the food is very good. The Seafood Gyoza appetizer- excellent. Freshly made. Pan fried to perfection. Lots of filling. Try it. The Miso Ramen - Also excellent. Double up on chashu for extra pork belly goodness. Ramen was perfectly cooked. The Goma Pork is good as well. Lots of good fresh ingredients. It's on the spicy side so beware. Kai Senn (Seafood ramen) was a little on the bland side. I think the mixture of pork and seafood broth is interesting but neither stands out when mixed. I would try to stick with just the seafood broth and figure out way to make it more flavorful. I should be able to taste the seafood. The shrimp and other items in the Ramen were good. Service was quick and pleasant. We will be back. read more
I had a to-go Yelp order for the Tonkotsu Ramen plus adds of Goma Pork ($2.50) and Corn ($1.50). I arrived at the 15 min mark after I placed my order and they were wrapping it so it came straight from the kitchen. I liked the ambiance of this place. There were only 2 single parties during 12:30pm lunch hour. Wow the two pieces of pork was HEAVENLY. It so tender and just falls apart with one bite. The perfect composition of meat and fat that I wished I ordered a double of it. Half of a soft boiled egg cooked to perfection. The Goma pork was seasoned on its own and brought a bit more flavor to the broth. I thought that the broth was too bland on its own and didn't have enough umami to it so I had to add lots of Siracha to boost the flavor. All in all, the pork was bomb but the broth wasn't enough for me. read more

The restaurant has big windows so sunlight from outside comes in nicely. The ramen was really fresh and light. The chicken was perfectly fried and crispy. The Gyoza were perfectly fried to a crisp on the outside while still being soft and flavorful on the inside. read more

Located in a quiet shopping plaza just on the edge of the medical center on the northwest side of the 410 loop, JY ramen offers a small selection of food offerings from ramen noodles to rice dishes and appetizers. The menu presented to you at the tables does not include their house specials which are located on the whiteboard at the front of the restaurant. The specials do not appear to change and include tan tan ramen and tsukemen. I went with my husband on a Saturday shortly after they opened, and business was slow at first but started to pick up. There was only one member of the waitstaff handling the front of house, so it was a little difficult to flag them down as more customers came in, but it wasn't anything make-or-break. We ordered a spicy tonkatsu ramen and a spicy miso ramen which came out after about 15-20 minutes. The soups didn't look spicy, however they definitely did add a kick to them which was pleasant without melting your face off. It was a slow heat and lingered. The amount of noodles wasn't over the top, but we did leave feeling a bit hungry, so maybe next time we'll add an appetizer to the order. FYI, the dining space is large and bright, and the bathroom was large as well and clean. Since it's located in a shopping plaza there is plenty of parking, so no need to worry about that. read more

This place has average ramen. Very lacking in flavor depth, but if you prefer a very light ramen you may enjoy. Great chasu, though! They were also not particularly nice or welcoming either of the 2 times I visited. However, the inside of the restaurant is fun with unique wood design for seating and also clean. Soooooo many Ramen places in San Antonio I'm not sure this one should go on your bucket list, but maybe just try it to say you did! read more

I'm pretty picky with my ramen. I look for depth of flavor in the broth, slight chewiness in noodles, fresh ingredients etc. JY has all of that and more. I've been back on more than one occasion and their consistency is really what keeps me coming back for more. The ramen is awesome! My fave is the Tan tan Man ramen! Give it a try you won't be sorry. read more

My brother suggested we go out to try this place and I ended up LOVING it! I loved it so much, I had to download this app just to talk about it hahaha!! I highly suggest the spicy miso ramen. This is the most delicious, authentic Japanese meal I've ever had and the service was extraordinary!! For an extra treat, the milk tea was exquisite! We ordered the coconut tea and strawberry tea with tapioca balls and to no surprise, we LOVED the product! My brother also ordered the hot jasmine tea which he says was "10/10" Overall, driving the 30 minutes from my home to this restaurant was so worth it. I can't wait to eat here again with my siblings. I already miss my bowl of ramen!! read more

Updating my review on this place. I'm sad because I actually liked it but they don't do a good job in the to go orders this is the second time they don't give me what I paid for which is pork meat slices . Also I order extra ramen and they said it doesn't come with extra broth so here I am stuck eating dry noodles. I called they didn't even try to fix it. What happened to the customer is always right . read more

Came here for Tonkotsu and Miso ramen and it was still bland. Staff was very friendly but their ramen broth and chashu needs more flavoring. Added their homemade spicy paste to my miso ramen because I wanted a pork broth based and the waitress said the Spicy Tokyo Miso ramen wasn't pork broth based. The paste ruined the Miso broth. Nice decorations inside the restaurant though. read more
JY Ramen is definitely on the top of my list when it comes to asian cuisine here in San Antonio. We had their seafood gyoza for appetizer, which was wonderful. You must get it if you're dining here! Both my friend and I ordered their Tonkotsu ramen. It didn't taste like anything out of the ordinary as you'd expect from pork-bone broth. I would say their Chashu is slightly fattier than I would've preferred. But broth was creamy, light, and noodles were cooked wonderfully. The toppings all complemented very well to the entire bowl. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for some quality Japanese Ramen! So happy to have found a good spot. I'll be back to satisfy my cravings! read more

Ramen is the new trend in San Antonio and we've definitely tried a lot of places around town. JY Ramen is good but definitely not on top. The service is very friendly and quick. We started with the seafood gyoza which was very good. I ordered the spicy miso ramen. Like I've shared in other reviews, nothing in San Antonio is actually spicy. My spouse ordered the tonkotsu. He liked it but agreed that it wasn't the best we've had. We both ordered woodear mushrooms in our ramen and that was an additional $1.50 for each. Since it wasn't very spicy, we asked for hot oil but they only had a spicy paste which was $1.00 per portion. The seating is super uncomfortable and do not have cushions. It's definitely better than 3 stars and would be 3.5 if possible so a four it is due to the strong service and above average tastes and flavors. read more
