This company is a wonderful find! They will clean your dog's teeth with no anaesthesia and in a non-traumatic, homeopathic manner that is non-invasive for your pet. When my vet said my dog needed her teeth cleaned -- and wanted $700 to do it (yikes!), I REALLY yelped! A Google search found Natural Pet and I decided to try them. They set up visits with local pet stores, doggie day camps, etc., and you can schedule an appointment through them. I took my dog to Camp Bow Wow, where she played for half the day and had a short diversion to get her teeth cleaned. She didn't seem to mind at all, and her teeth are sparkling clean -- at a price of $150, which is a HUGE savings. I think these ladies must be dog whisperers! They are indeed awesome. read more

I love Well Animal Inst. and my dogs, well they don't love them as much but I know they are in good hands and great care every time they get a cleaning. They take the time to calm and comfort, swaddle and recline so that my pups are physically and psychologically ready. I much prefer this procedure over them going under anesthesia and a $400+ vet bill. They gave my pups an oral exam to make sure they were fit for the procedure before just doing it. They look for loose teeth, gum disease and any thing else that might prevent a treatment. Once the procedure was complete I received a report card with the condition of my pups teeth before the procedure and some advise on how to keep their mouth clean and healthy. This was our first experience using Well Animal Institute's services for pet teeth cleaning and it went well overall. We did not want to sedate our 10+ yr old terrier to have the vet clean his teeth, so we're very grateful there was an alternative. Our dog has neuromuscular skeletal issues so it's painful for him to lay on his back. The technician laid our dog on his side during the cleaning process. After nearly an hour our dog's teeth looked great! I do think the process is fairly stressful to pets even with the calmative given, but it s/b much less stressful overall w/ fewer side effects (and lower cost) than having the process done at a vet clinic. We plan to have our other senior terrier's teeth done in the spring. read more

Great cleaning technique used by the well animal institute. My vet consistently remarks that our Maltese dog's teeth are much better than most other dogs every vet visit. Our dogs don't seem to have any problem with the cleaning process. The texts are friendly and knowledgeable about their jobs. Prices are very reasonable considering the alternative aesthetic procedures used by other vets. There's always a risk when you use anesthetics on dogs that can be avoided by this procedure technique. read more

I definitely do NOT reccomend them!!! I brought my girl to Chuck and Don's, in aurora, and I definitely wont be going back, EVER!!!!!! I'm very disappointed in the "vet"! She was very rude to me. She demanded that I not calm my dog, and to fill out the paper. I told her that it'd be easier if I stay where my girl can see me. Her response was "shes fine. this is our job. We do it every day." I turned to her and told her, "this is my dog. I know what will work for her." She chose to ignore me the rest of the time I was there. The only time she talked to me was to tell me about my girls teeth. And she was extremely rude when explaining that. Also, the vet tech almost poked my dogs eye with the scaler.. my dog was moving around, and the tech wasn't paying attention to where the scaler was. Needless to say, I sat with my hands on my girls face the rest of the cleaning... So if you truly care about your dog, PLEASE bring them somewhere else. read more

I have used Well Animal Institute for the last four years. The procedure is noninvasive. My dog is 7 years old and has not had to have his teeth surgically cleaned by the vet. Do not use them to clean your dogs teeth! The procedure is not as safe or as well done as putting your dog under anesthesia. They cleaned our australian shepherds teeth and it resulted in her aspirating and developing a lung infection. She died 2 weeks later from bleeding into her lungs.The dog is put on its back leaving it very vulnerable to plaque falling into the airway. They killed the love of our life and I would be remiss if I did not share our story with others. read more

The staff did an amazing job cleaning my 11-year old dog's teeth. It was his first professional teeth cleaning and so we were both anxious :) I was very impressed with their techniques to help calm and stabilize him using Bach Flower Rescue Remedy and swaddling with a towel. They were very thorough with the cleaning and explained the process as they went along. They even let me stay in the room as it seemed to help calm my dog. I have done this 8 times so far with my dacshund. I think one out of the eight times I've had it done, seven times were very, very good. Just one time did I think they could have done a better job but I neglected to look at my dogs teeth that time before I left. All of the other times were well done. I chose to do this as it is very effective at keeping your dogs teeth clean without the huge expense of having your dog put under anesthesia for a routine cleaning. Anesthesia is very hard on your dog physically and mentally. Also, and more importantly, the last time I took in my last dacshund to have her teeth cleaned by using anesthesia, the vet or vet tech did something wrong with the anesthesia tube causing her to develop pneumonia and she died after three days of suffering. She was only six years old and we still mourn her "accidental" death. I have heard from others who have had their dogs die from the anesthesia type cleanings. Please do your dog and yourself a favor and take your dog to these people for routine cleanings. Don't learn the hard way like I did! These people are very gentle and caring and it doesn't take too long for the procedure to be done. read more
